Show Summary: What labels do you put on yourself? What labels have been put on you? We tend to define ourselves through both good and bad labels that shift over time. They may hype us up or tear us down as we get older, but God doesn't want us to live trapped in these labels. Join hosts Eryn Eddy Adkins, Elisa Morgan, and Vivian Mabuni as they look to Scripture to see how God sees us. Open your Bibles and get ready for this powerful God Hears Her conversation.    Notes and Quotes:   “Words can have a lot of weight in our life when we're talking about labels. But we tend to forget how strong they can be [in a positive way.]” —Eryn Eddy Adkins   “We are hard-wired to be in relationship with one another, and we become isolated from one another we can spiral out really quickly.” —Vivian Mabuni  “God so desperately wants us to bring all of ourselves to Him, any labels that we're carrying, any circumstances that we feel shame about, that we are quietly suffering with.” —Eryn Eddy Adkins  “Community reflects back who we really are.” —Eryn Eddy Adkins  “You are loved. You are chosen. You are forgiven. You are made new. You are whole. Cathy and Caili are planning a trip back to China in the near future, and her lifelong dream is to get to the Holy Land someday.    Guest Bio: Caili Sall is studying social work at Southern Utah University. Caili has an adventurous spirit. She took a gap year between high school and college and spent 3 months in South Africa and 3 months in the Holy Land. She will be venturing out to Mannheim, Germany to study during her spring semester in 2025. She also loves running, snowboarding, and hiking with her friends.    Show Summary: When we reflect on our stories, we are often left with memories that carry both joy and grief. Perhaps you got a job promotion while mourning the loss of a loved one, or you got bad news while celebrating a big event. We often have seasons of celebration that mix with times of mourning. Cathy and Caili Sall are a mother-daughter duo who have learned how to hold all of the feelings that come with adoption. Cathy was a single woman when she felt God call her to adopt Caili, an orphan in China. Together, they've learned how to navigate the ups and downs of their story while acknowledging the grief and pain that come with it. Join hosts Eryn Eddy Adkins and Vivian Mabuni as they hear the testimony of Cathy and Caili during this God Hears Her conversation.   Notes and Quotes:  “In whatever happens along this journey, I need to trust that [God] is still walking beside me, and leading me and guiding me.” —Cathy Sall  “If you're praying right now [about adoption] or God lays it on your heart, He will walk you through it. He will guide you through it, and He will walk each step with you.” —Cathy Sall  “God gives us grace; He extends it to us so we can show ourselves grace [in our stories].” —Caili Sall  “There's a lot of sorrow and grief in my adoption story. But I don't necessarily realize those bad things. And when He says stay, I need to stay, and to not run ahead of Him.” —Vivian Mabuni “Am I prepared to see [God] turn beauty out of pain, and this be a longer road? Or will this be a shorter road where He does a miracle? Pricelis is currently pursuing a master of arts in biblical and theological studies from Denver Seminary and is a proud Black Latina born and raised in New York City, where she currently resides with her husband and son.    Show Summary: Do you ever feel like you're running on empty? Maybe your schedule is filled and you feel like you have no time to do the things you want to do or spend time with people you miss. Sometimes we feel empty because we're lacking a community that can help fulfill our needs or lend a hand. Pricelis Perreaux-Dominguez realized that women were running themselves dry while simultaneously missing out on a devoted community to spend time with. She founded The Full Collective with the hope of bringing women together to experience the fullness that God wants us to have through Him in our lives. Join hosts Elisa Morgan and Vivian Mabuni as they learn more about The Full Collective and how we can find fullness through Christ and community during this episode of God Hears Her.   Notes and Quotes:  “No matter what the battle that has come forth is, no matter what has tried to be stolen, destroyed, or killed in their life, that does not change the fullness that God has for us.” —Pricelis Perreaux-Dominguez  “I was very much in search of God, but I was looking for Him in a lot of things, a lot of different people, and a lot of different places. . . . I was filled with remembering that I am loved and seen by God, and that He's actually been pursuing me and running after me all these years I've been running away from Him.” —Pricelis Perreaux-Dominguez  “We have to bring our questions to the feet of Jesus.” —Pricelis Perreaux-Dominguez  “We need to remember that our faith is not individualized. Although our salvation is individual, the work that the body of Christ is called to do on Earth is a collective work.” —Pricelis Perreaux-Dominguez   “What is absolute truth is that Jesus came to give us life, and life to the full.” —Pricelis Perreaux-Dominguez     Verses:  John 10:10 Matthew 28:18-20 1 Corinthians 12:26 Jeremiah 29:11 John 14:26 Psalm 23:6 John 7:38   Links:  Learn more about The Full Collective Pricelis' book God Hears Her website: https://www.godhearsher.org/ God Hears Her email sign-up: https://www.godhearsher.org/sign-upsfmc  Subscribe on iTunes! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/god-hears-her-podcast/id1511046507?utm_source=applemusic&utm_medium=godhearsher&utm_campaign=podcast Eryn's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eryneddy/ Elisa's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/elisamorganauthor/   MB01JRU4C2PA0FU

Married for 30 years to Gibson Hopper, she has three daughters, two sons-in-love, and eleven grandchildren.   Show Summary: When was the last time you reached a moment where the only thing you could do was surrender your circumstance to the Lord? Deb Hopper was a single mom with two daughters when a good friend of hers sat her down and told her about a method of praying that would help her surrender her stresses to God. She knew God would answer in His way and in His timing, but she fully placed her needs into His hands. Join Deb as she shares her story with God Hears Her hosts Vivian Mabuni and Eryn Eddy Adkins during this God Hears Her conversation.   Notes and Quotes:  “I used the [Ask, Seek, Knock] principle to reach up to God out of the pit, to trust Him, and believe He could help me in the most complex areas of my life, and the most simplest of things.” —Deb Hopper “I don't think we talk about answered prayers enough. But in reality, He does move. He does answer prayers. And if we don't talk about them in our natural, everyday life, then why would people pray?” —Deb Hopper “But once I took that first step, God provided the obvious answer for me.” —Deb Hopper “We need God's light to shine on our answers. We need to go to His Word. We need to ask, ‘Does this line up with what God says? Is this true?' ” —Deb Hopper “[God] has the plan. And if you're faithful to do the next right thing, He doesn't waste a minute of it.” —Deb Hopper “Acknowledging God in the promotion, in a child being born, in the marriage, we are acknowledging that we didn't do it on our own. Guest Bio: Emily E. Ryan is a minister's wife, mother of four, and junior high English teacher who first dedicated her writing life to the Lord when she was a child. She quickly learned, however, that writing about Jesus could only come after walking with Him through hard times. In this season of life—full of teens, tweens, and all the beautiful noise and chaos that comes with them—she is familiar with the struggle to find those rare, quiet moments and claim them for Jesus. She writes about this struggle in her upcoming book Guilt-Free Quiet Times, where she encourages women with practical creativity to ditch guilt and embrace grace in their devotional time with the Lord. Emily and her family live in the great state of Texas, but you can find her online at emilyeryan.com or through her Guideposts devotions in ' Mornings with Jesus.   Show Summary: What comes to mind when you think of spending time with the Lord? Do you picture your favorite comfy chair with your Bible and a steaming mug of coffee? Or do you see yourself frantically running around the house apologizing to God while you chase a toddler who has interrupted your quiet time. . . .again. Emily E. Ryan wants to help women reimagine their quiet time with the Lord by lifting up the guilt we sometimes feel. The stigma of ‘quiet time' doesn't have to be silent time spent in your house with the Lord. Join hosts, Vivian Mabuni and Eryn Eddy Adkins, as they learn how to have guilt-free quiet time during this God Hears Her conversation.   Notes and Quotes:  “God shows Himself to us whenever we ask for our spiritual eyes to be opened.” —Emily E. Ryan “God promised something good from this, so I'm going to start looking for that.” —Emily E. Ryan “God is not calling us into this perfect, little checklist quiet time, He's calling us into a deeper, intimate relationship with Him.” —Emily E. Ryan The Lord has given us so much more choice into how we approach our spiritual disciples than we realize.” —Emily E. Ryan “Whenever we have conviction, it always leads to a solution. If the Holy Spirit convicts your heart, then He's doing so to lead you closer.” —Emily E. Ryan “The highs and lows are going to happen regardless. It's where they are leading you in the end. Are they leading you to the Lord, and is your faith growing?” —Emily E. Can you believe Christmas is this Sunday?! What a year this has been! I cannot believe this is the final episode of 2022. I'm closing out December with a conversation with my dear friend Vivian Mubani! Vivian is no stranger to The Happy Hour – she was my guest on Episodes #59 and #251. Today we talk about her podcast, Someday Is Here (which is on our Ivey Media Podcasts network!), her hope for the Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) community, her cancer journey, and why representation matters. Vivian's podcast is targeted towards Asian Americans, and she shares about the AAPI community and how the intersection of the eastern and western worlds impacts our faith, our leadership, and how we do life. Although Someday Is Here is meant to speak to the unique experience of Asian Americans, Vivian also welcomes those who do not identify as such, because Vivian understands that we are better when we are learning together. I have learned so much from my dear friend about the AAPI community and I hope you will join me in learning more about why the representation of these brothers and sisters really matters. A big THANK YOU to all of our Happy Hour listeners this year! This show wouldn't be possible with you all, and I am so grateful that you take time out of your day to listen!Have a Merry Christmas, friends! Connect with JamieFacebook //  Instagram // YouTubeGET ALL THE LINKS FROM THE SHOW HERE
