The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
Welcome to episode 140 of The Autumn Windbags! Question of the Day: with our channel closing in on 5,000 subscribers, the Windbags wonder what we should do to celebrate the milestone? The Las Vegas Raiders NFL Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs is having the best season of his career. He leads the NFL in rushing running for more yards than Saquon Barkley, Nick Chubb and Joe Mixon. Plus, Josh Jacobs has improved every part of his game. But the Josh Jacobs injury history is a big deal. Bringing his asking price down is a slew of big name running backs hitting the open market at the same time including Saquon Barkley, Miles Sanders, Tony Pollard, David Montgomery, Kareem Hunt and others. Does Dave Zeigler and the Raiders sign him to a long term deal, franchise tag him or let him walk? And how much did Davante Adams cost the Raiders with Josh Jacobs? In raiders news today, Anthony Averett goes to injured reserve and the Raiders bring up from the practice squad Tyler Hall. Tyler Hall Raiders time has been trending up. Tyler Hall is taking time from Amik Robertson and other Raiders corners. Former Raiders first round NFL draft pick safety Johnathan Abram got picked up by the Seattle Seahawks. Will he find more success in a new environment? Nate Hobbs is officially back from injured reserve and should hopefully play against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Las Vegas Raiders take on the Los Angeles Chargers in NFL week 13 at Allegiant Stadium. Justin Herbert and company lead a passing attack that will be a major problem. It is up to Maxx Crosby and the pass rush to get to the quarterback. The Chargers run defense is worst in the NFL so Josh Jacobs should have another big game. The Chargers will be without JC Jackson, Joey Bosa and multiple defense tackles so Derek Carr should not get sacked six times like he did in their first game. Jermaine Eleumanor vs Khalil Mack is a big matchup to watch. in What Up, Windbags, the guys discuss how much blame should the defense shoulder, why the raiders never tanked and more evidence Derek Carr is the ultimate teammate. 0:00 Intro 2:00 Question of the Day 4:53 What to do with Josh Jacobs 30:05 Raiders News: Tyler Hall, Johnathan Abram, Nate Hobbs 43:54 Raiders Chargers Preview 57:23 What Up, Windbags? The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
Its episode 135 of the Autumn Windbags. Away game for RJ again. This time in New York City. Question of the day: What is your go-to drink after a Raiders loss? If you are a long time Las Vegas Raiders fan, we know you've had to drink away your sorrows a time or two. Soto says mezcal, RJ says whiskey. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is back on the main show, by popular demand. The Good: Derek Carr had an incredible half in the Raiders-Jaguars game. Devante Adams had a monster first half with two touchdowns. The Raiders defense had a pair of standout linebackers: Blake Martinez and Denzel Perryman had a ton of tackles against the Jacksonville Jaguars offense. The Bad: The Las Vegas Raiders were terrible on 3rd down, the Raiders offensive AND the Raiders defensive. Derek Carr had no time to throw with how bad the offensive line performed. The Ugly: As good as Derek Carr was in the first half, he was that ugly in the second half against the Jacksonville Jaguars defense. Davante Adams was held to only one catch int he second half. Maxx Crosby has seen his production plummet for the Raiders defense. In Raiders news, former first round draft pick Johnathan Abram was cut this week. The Green Bay Packers picked him up off wavers. The Raiders news today is that this is another sign that Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham may not be as flexible with his scheme as we thought he would be. With Johnathan Abram cut, he completes the clean sweep of Raiders first round NFL picks falling flat. Alex Leatherwood cut, Henry Ruggs cut, Damon Arnette cut, Clelin Ferrell option declined, Josh Jacobs option declined, Johnathan Abram cut. Yet another example of how back the Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock squad was in the draft. Josh McDaniels is 2-6 as the Las Vegas Raiders head coach. Josh McDaniels was also 11-17 as the head coach of the Denver Broncos. The Big LV Raiders news is that NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams called out Josh McDaniels on the play calling in the Jaguars-Raiders game. Is this a sign that Josh McDaniels is losing this locker room? Soto also says that Josh McDaniels should relinquish play calling. Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall played under Josh McDaniels during his stint with the Broncos. Brandon Marshall went off saying Josh McDaniels is not a leader of men. The Raiders defense ranks last in sacks, takeaways and passer rating allowed and second to last points per drive allowed. The big Raiders news is the Raiders defense also allowed 15 of 15 in goal to go in the red zone. The defensive woes are exacerbated by the fact the Raiders defense has played poor offenses like the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos. In What Up, Windbags, the guys discuss player effort, how much Mark Davis is to blame and a new drinking game for the show! 0:00 Intro 1:47 Question of the Day 6:40 The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Raiders-Jaguars 21:56 Johnathan Abram to the Green Bay Packers 29:29 First Round Picks Wasted 32:47 Davante Adams Questions Josh McDaniels 46:01 Brandon Marshall Goes OFF on Josh McDaniels 50:39 The Raiders is WORSE than We Thought 1:00:28 What Up, Windbags? The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
The Autumn Windbags return for episode 129 live in Abu Dhabi with RJ working in the UAE for UFC 280. RJ updates Raiders owner and Al Davis son Mark Davis and his exchange with RJ's wife in Las Vegas. The question of the day: What is your prediction for Houston Texans vs Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday? The Raiders are 7-point favorites at home against the lowly Texans. in Raiders news, there are multiple rumors of Raiders players that could be traded. The Raiders trade rumors come from ESPN and point to a pair of 2019 first rounders Clelin Ferrell and Johnathan Abram. The Windbags look at what the Raiders could get for those guys and also if Josh Jacobs should be shopped since his value is so high. The Raiders defense with head coach Josh McDaniels and defense coordinator Patrick Graham took over a Gus Bradley defense that needed a makeover. The four things the Windbags thought they would focus on were: points per game, sacks, takeaways and red zone defense. They looked at the five teams the Las Vegas Raiders have played this year and compared the teams averages vs how they played the Raiders. The Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs all beat their averages against the Raiders. How much is this due to the personnel and how much is on Patrick Graham? The Las Vegas Raiders and the Houston Texans are both 1-4 and coming off a bye week. In this Raiders vs Texans preview, the Windbags look at Darren Waller on the injury report and how Davante Adams is available. Anthony Averett is off the IR while Nate Hobbs went on it. The game plan should be pretty simple: run Josh Jacobs against the porous Houston Texans defense. Derek Stingley vs Davante Adams is a matchup to keep your eye on. In What Up, Windbags, the guys discuss why NOW is the time to talk about what to do with Josh Jacobs, Derek Carr the think man's quarterback and Davante Adams and the rest of the Raiders squad controlling their emotions. 0:00 Intro 2:56 Prediction for Texans vs Raiders 9:45 Raiders Trade Rumors 21:33 Raiders Defense is ROUGH 45:35 Raiders vs Texans Preview 56:27 What Up, Windbags? The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
Ep.124 of The Autumn Windbags! RJ returned from Nashville and watching the Titans game in person. The question of the day: Which Raider surprised you the most with their play? Soto said Chandler Jones. RJ said Nate Hobbs. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly from the Las Vegas Raiders loss to the Tennessee Titans. Good: Derek Carr threw for over 300 yards and did not fumble once. Maxx Crosby continues to disrupt every offense he plays against. Josh Jacobs ran for over five yards per carry despite being sick all week. Mack Hollins had a career game and nearly won the game for the Las Vegas Raiders. Daniel Carlson is as automatic as any kicker in the NFL. Bad: The Raiders defense allowed 24 points in the first half alone. Johnathan Abram has played well this season but had two big missed tackles on third down. Jermaine Eluemunor had a pair of critical penalties that cost the Raiders. Ugly: The Raiders Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller dropped at least two touch down passes. The usually sure-handed Waller just seemed off all day. The red zone offense only scored two touchdowns in six trips to the red zone. In Las Vegas Raiders News, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky has made the media rounds claiming that Derek Carr is purposefully ignoring Davante Adams. Dan Orlovsky points to a handful of plays where Davante Adams is in a matchup that should automatically make Derek Carr throw to him. The Tennessee Titans game specifically brought up Josh McDaniels offensive scheme on how Derek Carr is supposed to play. The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
The Autumn Windbags are back for episode 122! RJ will be in Nashville this weekend to watch Raiders vs Titans 2022. Question of the day: What is the biggest reason the Raiders are 0-2? The Derek Carr Davante Adams connection fell apart in week 2. Chandler Jones has not been effective. Hunter Renfrow fumbled twice. Josh McDaniels play calling has been suspect. Josh Jacobs, Zamir White and the run game has not gotten going. Looking back at the good, the bad and the ugly from Raiders-Cardinals. Good: Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders were running free in the first half. Darren Waller scored another touchdown. Maxx Crosby was the lone pass rushed who made a difference. A score of Raiders defensive backs and linebackers showed up huge including Divine Deablo, Jayon Brown, Johnathan Abram and Derron Harmon. Bad: The second half against the Cardinals was awful both offensively and defensively. Kyler Murray ran wild in the second half and move the chains whenever he needed to. Ugly: Derek Carr went 7 for 15 for only 42 yards in the second half. Hunter Renfrow fumbled twice in consecutive touches. In Raiders news today, Derek Carr has not delivered the passing numbers so many expected this season. Josh McDaniels mentioned how diverse and ever-changing his offense is. Does this mean an NFL quarterback like Derek Carr who struggles early with new offenses will struggle with an ever-evolving offense? In Raiders news, the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots made a trade. Third year tackle Justin Herron was traded to the Raiders in exchange for a swap of draft picks. The Raiders offensive line is desperate for talent with so many journeymen on the squad and so few young players from the 2022 NFL draft. This Raiders trade is a sign Josh McDaniels, Dave Ziegler and the Raiders are finally willing to act to address their offensive line problems. The Raiders head to Nashville to take on the Titans. Pro Bowl running back Derrick Henry has started slow this season. Ryan Tannehill had a terrible game against the Buffalo Bills. This should be a big bounce back game for Davante Adams considering how much success Stefon Diggs had. The Windbags Raiders Titans prediction is a dominant win.
