Todd and Jerry breakdown the 49er win against the Cleveland Browns and discuss all the shining stars, including the offensive line that only allowed Miles Garrett and the Browns 1 sack; Clelin Ferrell's day rushing the QB; Purdy's bounce back game; and the continued great play by the special teams.Plus, a look at how we first anticipated the season going leading into the bye week. What are the expectations now? Can they not only get into the playoffs, but make a run at a higher seed?Plus, how in the world did the Panthers upset the Rams? Who is a pretender in the NFL (hint, they rhyme with Bicago Chairs).Time to have a relaxing bye week and get ready for the stretch run.
The 49ers, on Sunday, notched their first three-game winning streak since the opening three weeks of the season and won in Cleveland for the first time since Nov. 1984. The 49ers' latest win was exhibition in execution from the kickoff as they played complimentary football in all three phases. Brock Purdy played errorless football with excellent decision-making, while extending plays when needed. The special teams group bolstered the 49ers' field-position on returns and made timely kicks when needed, while the defense has been humming the last few weeks, creating turnovers and finally adding an element of pressure from the D-line that spurred San Francisco to victory. On this episode of '49ers Talk,' co-hosts Matt Maiocco and Jennifer Lee Chan break down San Francisco's decisive 26-8 road win over the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field. From Brock Purdy's bounce-back performance following a mistake-filled game, to special teams and defensive units flourishing, to a coach committed to his preparation and scheme in what might be his best coaching season for the Faithful, Matt and Jennifer detail a team finding health and success in time for a much-needed break during their Week 14 bye week.--(1:00) Recapping the 49ers' Week 13 win in blustery weather in Cleveland(3:00) Kyle Shanahan oversold weather to team to mentally, physically prepare them(5:00) Brock Purdy did what he had to do to secure the 49ers' win(11:00) Outstanding performances from Clelin Ferrell, Keion White, Malik Mustapha(14:00) Of all three phases the 49ers' specials teams group has improved the most this season(19:00) The 49ers are playing just about as good as any team in the NFC right now(30:00) Brock Purdy finally showing a bit of confidence -- rare touchdown dance proof of it(39:00) 49ers looking forward to a full week off during their bye Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The San Francisco 49ers beat the Carolina Panthers 20-9 in Week 12, holding their ground in the NFC Playoff Race despite a rough night from Brock Purdy.Purdy threw 3 INTs (almost 5), but the 49ers defense bailed him out every time — led by Ji'Ayir Brown's two game-changing interceptions, including one in the end zone on 1st-and-Goal. Christian McCaffrey carried the offense with his 8th game of 50+ rushing and 50+ receiving yards, a TD, and nine touches on the opening 15-play drive. Jauan Jennings fought through three tackles for a tough TD, and Clelin Ferrell delivered a huge sack as the Panthers tried to rally. It wasn't pretty, but the 49ers controlled the clock, leaned on CMC, and made the clutch plays to escape with a must-have win.Can San Francisco keep climbing the NFC standings? In need of reinforcements along their injured defensive line, the 49ers made a trade with the New England Patriots for defensive end Keion White and a 2026 seventh-round draft pick in exchange or a 2026 sixth-rounder. Matt Maiocco and Jennifer Lee Chan discuss how White bolsters a 49ers defensive line whose nine sacks are tied for the second-fewest among all NFL teams this season. Matt also sits down with NBC Sports Boston's Patriots insider Phil Perry to examine White's time with the organization as a former second-round pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. Lastly, Jennifer and Matt review if the 49ers would entertain any other trades, assess rookie Mykel Williams' stock through eight games and provide 49ers injury updates before San Francisco's Week 9 game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.--(1:00) 49ers trade for Keion White(3:00) White was playing under third coaching regime with Pats(5:00) What were 49ers looking for in trade?(10:00) Clelin Ferrell returns to 49ers(14:00) Breaking down 49ers' O-line deficiencies(16:00) Why 49ers are at a crossroads in Week 9(19:00) NBCS Boston's Phil Perry breaks down White's time with Pats(27:00) Would 49ers trade Jauan Jennings?(30:00) 49ers injury updates(32:00) Addressing questions surrounding Mykel Williams Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The San Francisco 49ers (5-3) head into Week 9 facing the New York Giants (2-6) in what could be the most important game of the season thus far. With trade-deadline implications, the NFC West race on the line, and a looming matchup vs the Los Angeles Rams next week, the stakes couldn't be higher. After the 49ers' disappointing 26-15 loss to the Houston Texans, where the offense sputtered and the defense got gashed, SF is desperate to bounce back. They've added new faces like Keion White and Clelin Ferrell … but the injury list looms large (no Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall, Bryce Huff or Jake Brendel). That MetLife turf has haunted them before — so they'll want to come out clean. On the flip side, the Giants are a mess in 2025. Rookie QB Jaxson Dart is under center after season-ending injuries to Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers. They've shown flashes, but they also turn the ball over. Could this be a trap game?Giants defense? Pass rushers like Brian Burns, Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux are legit — but their run defense allows 5.7 yards per carry and 148 yards per game. That spells opportunity for the 49ers ground game. And what about targeting George Kittle? The Giants' secondary has been torched all year: high completion rates allowed, poor coverage grades, and matchup issues all over. If San Fran can establish the run and get Kittle involved, they open everything up.This video breaks down:• Why this is arguably the biggest game of the season for the 49ers so far• Key injury updates + how they impact both teams• Matchup breakdowns: run game vs run defense, pass rush vs 49ers' offensive line, how the Giants' secondary stacks up• What the 49ers must do to win … and what dangers to watch out forIf you're a 49ers fan — or just love deep NFL game-preview breakdowns — hit that Like button, drop a comment with your key prediction for Sunday, and Subscribe for more weekly 49ers coverage.

The Autumn Windbags: The Best Las Vegas Raiders Podcast Ever!
Welcome to episode 169 of The Autumn Windbags! A Raiders fan held up a sign during the 2023 NFL Draft that appeared on ESPN made a hilarious joke about Josh McDaniels the Windbags have never heard of. So the question of the day, what is the best insult you've ever heard? Peter King was inside the Raiders draft room with Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler and left with some big Raiders news. The great access gave Raider Nation a unique view of what went on. Read the article here: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/05/01/nfl-draft-2023-raiders-texans-cj-stroud-peter-king-fmia/ The Raiders had four targets for pick number 7: Paris Johnson, Will Anderson, Devon Witherspoon and Tyree Wilson. Another observation, the Raiders had an option to trade down from number 7 and got number 12 and 33 which means the Raiders would not have had to trade back up to get tight end Michael Mayer. Peter King documented Josh McDaniels call to his first round pick Tyree Wilson. McDaniels told Wilson what to say about his foot injury, what to say to the media and how happy Raider nation is to have him. Mark Davis reiterated his positive feelings about Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler. The Raider draft picks 2023 scored pretty well with the media. Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer pick was universally loved. Edge rusher Tyree Wilson pick was highly regarded as well. Tre tucker, Byron young, Jakorian Bennett picks came with mixed reviews.
