In hour 2 of The Drive, Zach and Phil speak to how great of an ownership the Broncos have had since the Walton-Penners have been involved. Would Sean Payton be the Broncos head coach without the ownership group? How present has Greg Penner been around the Broncos facility on a daily basis? Phil contrasts how this ownership group differs from when John Elway was the GM. Would Bo Nix be a Broncos if it weren’t for the current Broncos ownership willing to eat Russell Wilson’s contract? Today’s “Three Count” features Bo Nix winning AFC Offensive Player of the Week for a second time, the massive matchup in the NBA tonight between the conference leading Cavaliers and Thunder, and if Zach deserves a punishment if the Broncos go into Buffalo and upset his Bills. Do the Broncos have a good problem on their hands, with Vance Joseph interviewing for head coaching opportunities around the NFL? We hear from Sean Payton and his thoughts on VJ and him potentially leaving the Broncos to return to a head coaching role.
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News to discuss Micah Hyde signing to the Buffalo Bills practice squad and also revisiting some summer Bills talking points in addition to ranting on the Buffalo Sabres after their epic home ice meltdown Tuesday night. It had been rumored going all the way back to training camp and finally became a reality on Tuesday as longtime Bills safety Micah Hyde officially signed with the Bills practice squad. On the surface it seems the 33-year old will be more of a factor with his leadership off the field than on it. Jay has thoughts on whether it'll take an injury(s) to see Hyde end up actually playing for the Bills, what he thinks he brings to the table this late in the season and what if anything it means for Damar Hamlin. The guys also revisit Jay being on the show alongside Nate Geary shortly before the Bills regular season starting and talking about how one of the best things the team had going for them was a lot of people counting them out, not to mention Josh Allen being voted the most overrated player in the NFL. Spoiler alert---he's not and just won another AFC Offensive Player of the Week award as well. Jay may cover the Bills for a living but he's also a Sabres fan and frustrated one at that. They go over that historic Buffalo home collapse against Colorado a few nights ago, the first time in franchise history the Sabres blew a 4-0 lead at home. Among other things, Jay talks about feeling sorry for head coach Lindy Ruff. That and plenty more! You can follow Jay on Twitter @JaySkurski and be sure to support local journalism by subscribing to The Buffalo News. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss a handful of potential Buffalo Bills trade candidates at wide receiver in addition to other topics involving the team and around the AFC. The past two weeks and especially last Sunday in Houston really emphasized the Bills need to find themselves a productive wide receiver. Head coach Sean McDermott said he's still confident in the group but even he said there's concerns with the unit when he spoke to the media. Matt goes over a list of possible candidates around the league that could come in and give the Bills passing game a much needed boost, ranging from possible yet unlikely to downright extremely doable for Bills general manager Brandon Beane. Also, the guys discuss the confidence level they have in McDermott and his coaching staff after the debacle ending in Houston. They also discuss Josh Allen winning AFC Offensive Player of the Month but still off to a relatively slow start, Beane's offseason free agent class that's been noticeably underwhelming through five weeks, why the Bills stink on third down so far this year, a look around the conference and tons more. Seth and Sean discuss the Astros losing to the A's yet again, Jose Altuve possibly being injured, Chas McCormick going to the injured list, Joe Mixon being awarded AFC Offensive Player of the Week (and a nice chain to go with it), Seth gives his assessment of Caleb Williams' first full game in the NFL, they discuss CJ Stroud's request for Texans fans attending the game, if and when rookie Calen Bullock might take over at Safety, CJ Stroud's focus on correcting mistakes even though he played pretty well, and react to some unhinged Panthers fans' comments on the team's social media post remembering 9/11.
HOUR 1 - Seth and Sean discuss the Astros losing again to the A's last night, Jose Altuve possibly being injured, Chas McCormick to the IL, Joe Mixon being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, how the Texans got him, and go through the day's Headlines.
Seth and Sean discuss Texans RB Joe Mixon being awarded AFC Offensive Player of the Week, what DeMeco Ryans says Mixon brings to the offense, and how Nick Caserio says the trade happened.
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full preview of tonight's Week two clash between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins in addition to a bunch of bold predictions for the game. Both Buffalo and Miami survived opening week scares at home to win their first games as we head into what's already a potentially pivotal matchup just two weeks into the season. Patrick breaks down where both teams are at heading into the game, including some injuries to each squad that could have an impact on this game and beyond. Of course for Buffalo, the Bills dominance of Miami in recent years has been led by the absurdly elite play of Josh Allen, who's won AFC Offensive Player of the Week a mind blowing five times in 12 career regular season games against the Dolphins. Should we be prepared for more of the same and will his injured finger(s) be a problem at Hard Rock Stadium? Patrick spends plenty of time going over their keys to the game for Buffalo, biggest concerns within the Bills and ultimately a host of bold predictions as well as picks/scores for the game itself from each. That and plenty more. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by SB Nation Associate Director Matt Warren to discuss some final takeaways from the Buffalo Bills opening week victory before quickly turning the page to look ahead to Thursday night's important early season AFC east showdown at the Miami Dolphins. Happy to say here that Matt will be a recurring guest on Talking Buffalo throughout this season and he debuts today with some of things he's most and least excited about with the Bills on the heels of their victory over Arizona to start the season 1-0. The play of Josh Allen and Greg Rousseau is obvious, but what else is Matt happy about? Conversely, there's players and areas of concern about this team in need of discussion and Matt lays out some of them as well. Then the focus gets shifted to Miami, where the pair of 1-0 teams will clash in prime time on Thursday. The Bills have utterly owned the Dolphins during the Josh Allen era, going 10-2 with Josh winning AFC Offensive Player of the Week a mind blowing five times against Miami alone through his career. What are some things that need to happen for Allen and Buffalo's dominance to continue.? The guys take a look at the strengths and weakness of Miami and start to piece together a preview. That plus Matt has some thoughts from ongoings around the league, some talk about Buffalo Rumblings and much more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was the AFC Offensive Player of the Month in September, and wide receiver Tyreek Hill followed by earning the honors for October after earning 600 receiving yards and four touchdowns throughout the month. Hill met with the media on Thursday to share his thoughts on winning the award, facing Kansas City in Germany, and even who he feels is the team's MVP through eight games — we run through everything you might have missed at work. The Thursday injury report was released and it's hard not to get excited at the thought of Miami's secondary being at full strength for Sunday's game against a Kansas City group of receivers that struggled to catch the football. After running through the latest news and notes, it may be possible that the Dolphins could actually pull off a win in Germany -- how crazy is that? Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver coach Troy Walters joins us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham, to talk about how his receivers have stepped up to the plate to start the season and Jamarr's recording breaking performance against the Cardinals. With the absence of Tee Higgins for Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals the Bengals receivers needed to step up in a must-win game and that's exactly what they did. Starting with the obvious standout, Jamarr Chase had a field day on Sunday setting a Bengals reception record with 15 catches for 192 yards and three touchdowns. It was awesome to see Joe Burrow and Jamarr reconnect as they did for the past two seasons. Jamarr won AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his dominant performance but another Bengals receiver played a pivotal role in the Bengals Week 5 win, Trenton Irwin. Irwin had eight catches for 60 yards and also had some great punt returns to set up the Bengals offense with great field position. Irwin is used to this role, doing the same last season when Jamarr had to miss time with a hip injury he has proved to be a valuable piece to this Bengals team. With Tee's availability still up in the air for Week 6 against the Seahawks the Bengals wide receivers will need to step up again in what feels like another must-win heading into the bye. We want to thank Coach Walters for always being a fantastic guest and for joining us today on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham brought to you by First Star Logistics. Happy Hour (Hour 3) of The Sports Bar with Danger and Battaglia begins with some Hot Uniform Talk as the guys rank the Bills uniform combinations. The talk shifts to the Bills opponent in London on Sunday, the Jaguars, and to Josh Allen, who today received AFC Offensive Player of the Week accolades at a time when the national media doesn't want to talk about him unless he has a poor performance. In a round of "Shots" the atrocious attendance of Rays fans is discussed as they get eliminated from post-season play by the Rangers. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Tone Pucks for his weekly visit to discuss the Buffalo Bills mauling of the Miami Dolphins on both sides of the ball, dominating Miami 48-20 in a huge AFC east matchup. Everything was firing on all cylinders for the offense the entire game. The guys have thoughts on Josh Allen likely winning AFC Offensive Player of the Week for a second time in three weeks and his teammate Stefon Diggs deserving consideration as well, not to mention an offensive line that made you wonder if Christian Wilkins and Bradley Chubb even played. Defensively for Buffalo, Miami easily scored touchdowns on their first two possessions but the Bills put the clamps down after that. They talk about huge games from Matt Milano, Greg Rousseau, Ed Oliver and other key Bills. About the only downside to this game was likely losing Tre White again for the season. The guys talk about that and if a trade may be on the horizon. That plus Tone gives out his game ball to someone you may not expect and much more. Buffalo struggled in their first game of the year losing to an Aaron Rogers-less Jets team but Muki believes that was due to all the hype. Josh Allen proved it by having an amazing 2nd game and earning AFC Offensive Player of the Week. However, Muki understands Washington has the best defensive line in the league and it will be tough for the Bills to run, especially if it's going to be a rain-soaked field as expected. Muki also talked about how much respect he has for Commanders Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy and how EB seems to be playing mind games when he had high praise for Bills linebacker Shane Milano. So much more in this game preview. Let's gooooooo!

Cobb County was placed under a tornado watch and wind advisory as a wall of thunderstorms swept across the Southeast on Thursday afternoon. The most significant damage occurred in Austell, according to Cobb County, where firefighters found at least 18 homes with damage. At least 14 homes were damaged enough that the Red Cross was brought in to assist residents. No significant injuries were been reported, the county said around 6:30 p.m., but assessments were still underway. Cobb DOT was still clearing downed trees countywide Thursday night, and as of 6:30 p.m. had cleared at least 25 roads and 11 flooded roadways. Also in Austell, a warehouse on Oak Ridge Parkway was severely damaged and had a wall collapse, according to the county. Residents were asked to report damage to the county. Cobb's wind advisory was in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. as gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour were expected. The tornado watch, meanwhile, was in effect until 7 p.m. The National Weather Service expected isolated hail a few tornados in the area between Montgomery, Alabama, and Athens, including metro Atlanta. Dobbins Air Reserve Base will play host in the coming months to a high-altitude NASA research craft. The ER-2 aircraft will be flying out of the base until March 5, Dobbins announced this week. The ER-2 plane is a variant of the famous U-2 spy plane developed by Lockheed in the 1950s. It is used for civilian research missions, and operates at altitudes between 20,000 and 70,000 feet, per NASA. “These flights are sponsored by the Earth Science Division of NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington. The purpose of this mission is to track severe weather to measure properties such as wind, temperature, precipitation, humidity and aerosol profiles,” the base said in a news release. The base said while it will try to restrict flights to the hours between sunrise and sunset, but missions may occur during night time hours and on weekends. Chiefs running back and Sprayberry alum Jerick McKinnon closed out the final six weeks of the 2022 regular season in emphatic fashion, scoring a league-high nine total touchdowns in that span. It was only fitting that the NFL on Thursday recognized McKinnon as the AFC Offensive Player of the Month. McKinnon became the first running back since 1970 with a touchdown reception in at least five consecutive games, and his scoring binge was impressive. The streak started innocently enough, with a 2-yard touchdown catch in Week 13. And then his trips to the end zone kept coming, week after week. By the time the six-game stretch concluded, the 5-foot-9, 209-pound McKinnon had amassed eight touchdown catches and one rushing score. The Chiefs' all-purpose running back finished the regular season with 291 yards and a touchdown on 72 carries plus 512 yards and nine touchdowns on 56 catches. His 535 offensive snaps led all Chiefs running backs. Jerrick's Chiefs have a bye this weekend in NFL playoffs Wild Card round. If everything goes right next week in the divisional round, he could have a chance to play for the AFC championship in front of his home fans. Due to the Cincinnati Bengals-Buffalo Bills game on January the second being cancelled due to the collapse of Bills' safety Damar Hamlin, the NFL decided that if the AFC Championship game is between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills, the game will be played in Atlanta at the Mercedes Benz Stadium, giving the teams a neutral field to play on for a trip to the Super Bowl. The Emily Lembeck Early Learning Center, the Pre-K Center for Marietta City Schools, invites the community to learn more about the framework it uses for literacy and language development. The Community Scope and Sequence was created by the Emily Lembeck Early Learning Center and connects the Georgia Pre-K learning standards to a curriculum that builds and develops the “reading brain,” all based upon brain science. It has since been adopted by nine other early learning centers in the City of Marietta in correlation with the Literacy and Justice for All campaign, reaching a total of approximately 400 children. Each month there is a different focus on themes and “anchor” books that reinforce the themes. In February, young students will answer inquiry questions like: How does the world work? What do all living things need? and How are living things connected to each other and the Earth? February's anchor books are "Moonbear's Shadow" by Frank Asch, "The Little Engine that Could" by Watty Piper, "Rabbits and Raindrops" and "Raccoon on His Own" by Jim Arnosky. Families are encouraged to visit the public library or find the books at a local store. Suggested activities that families can do with their children to deepen their understanding and promote these themes and inquiry questions include: Find a sunny spot outside. Watch one's shadow change as the sun moves throughout the day. Stand in the same spot and trace one's shadow with chalk at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Then talk about what happened to the shadow and how it changed. Take a nature scavenger hunt and talk about the things that one finds and sees. Make a collage with the things one finds. Look for rocks to paint or decorate with fun and happy pictures or messages. Place them in public places to share with others. All of the early learning centers invite parents and caregivers in Marietta to follow along with the Community Scope and Sequence to encourage shared knowledge. "Touchdown Jaguars!" is a tribute to the prospective ownership group "Touchdown Jacksonville!" In 1991, the NFL announced plans to add two expansion teams and "Touchdown Jacksonville!" announced its bid for a team, and Jacksonville was ultimately chosen as one of five finalists. In November 1993, the NFL owners voted 26–2 in favor of awarding the 30th franchise to Jacksonville. The Buffalo Bills (3-0) make their first West Coast trip of the 2020 season on Sunday, traveling to Sin City for a Week 4 showdown vs. the Las Vegas Raiders (2-1). On the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, hosts John Boccacino and Jamie D’Amico have everything you need to get ready for the Bills first-ever trip to Vegas. After offering up rapid reactions to Buffalo's thrilling 35-32 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, Boccacino and D'Amico size up the Raiders offense, which relies heavily on talented running back Josh Jacobs. The Bills will have a daunting task trying to slow down Jacobs, especially with the issues Buffalo has had stopping the run this year. Quarterback Derek Carr has one of the quickest releases in the game, tight end Darren Waller is a matchup nightmare, and the onus will be on the defensive linemen, led by Jerry Hughes, Ed Oliver, Mario Addison, Quinton Jefferson, Trent Murphy and Vernon Butler, to apply pressure up the middle. Unlike last week's opponent, the Raiders don't have as strong of an offensive line, which should create opportunities to get pressure on Carr. With a focus on checking down to his receivers, tight ends and running backs, the Bills should look to confuse Carr with coverage zone blitzes while clogging his passing lanes. Offensively, both D'Amico and Boccacino expect reigning AFC Offensive Player of the Month Josh Allen to continue his upward trajectory while leading the Bills high-flying (31 points per game) offense. While much has been made of Stefon Diggs, John Brown and Cole Beasley's contributions to the receiving game, our podcasters expect big performances from rookie Gabriel Davis and tight ends Tyler Kroft and Dawson Knox vs. the Raiders. As good as the passing game has been, Boccacino and D'Amico are looking for a huge game from running back Devin Singletary, who should record his first 100-yard effort this year against a susceptible Raiders' defense. We close by offering up our score predictions as the Bills look to improve to 4-0 for the ninth time in franchise history, and first time since the 2008 season. Pat, AJ, and Robert chat about his time with the Colts, and why the changing of the culture was what killed the team, Robert breaks down the art of pass rushing and the different techniques he used to become one of the most feared pass rushers in NFL history, he chats about what Pat was like as a teammate and how he tried to buy stock in him early, his time at Alabama A&M and what being in the HBCU Hall of Fame means, and what he’s been doing now with his Gridiron Gang camps trying to teach players how to correctly pass rush in an incredible conversation (28:43-1:38:44). Lastly, former Green Bay Packers VP of Finance, Executive VP at Vayner Sports, host of the Business of Sports podcast, and friend of the show, Andrew Brandt joins the program. Pat and Andrew discuss the business of baseball and how he’s not sure if the result of the proposal is good lawyering or bad lawyering, why he and Pat both agree that the NFL will probably go off without a hitch given some sort of waiver that players will have to sign, they discuss how the salary cap will be affected by everything happening with Covid, and if that is why Dak Prescott is ultimately agreeing to the franchise tender, and why with the current climate of things, Andrew would not negotiate extensions with big name players like Patrick Mahomes because of all the variables (1:41:55-1:57:34). Don’t forget to send in your pictures of where you’re watching the show with the hashtag #ThisIsWhereImAtPat for the chance to win some free merch. Come and laugh with us, cheers.
