Today, we're talking about one of my favorite topics (at least in my top 10) that sounds simple but can be deeply transformative: positive affirmations. You've probably seen them on sticky notes, Instagram quotes, FB or maybe even your bathroom mirror—phrases like “I am enough,” or “I am in control of my thoughts.” But… Do they actually work? And if so, how? Let's explore science—and then I'll share some powerful affirmations you can start using today. So, what exactly are positive affirmations? In a nutshell, they're short, powerful statements that you repeat to yourself to challenge and change unhelpful thoughts. Think of them as little verbal vitamins for your brain—nourishing, strengthening, and protective. Positive affirmations are more than just feel-good phrases. Backed by real science, they can help you reshape your internal dialogue, build resilience, and take meaningful steps toward a better you. If you enjoyed this episode, don't forget to share it with someone who might need a little encouragement today.Support the showFull Show Notes can be found at CallITInPodcast.comPhoto credit: Rebecca Lange Photography Music credit: Kevin MacLeod Incompetech.com (licensed under Creative Commons) Production credit: Erin Schenke @ Emerald Support Services LLC. Today, we're talking about something both ancient and revolutionary: trust—and how an unshakable belief in positive outcomes can lead to a more joyful, fulfilling life. “Let's start with a big question: What is trust, really? At its core, trust is the belief that things will turn out well, or that others have good intentions. It's the glue of every relationship, the bedrock of successful communities, and—here's the kicker—it's also a major predictor of happiness. A 2016 study from the Journal of Happiness Studies found that people who have higher levels of interpersonal trust report significantly greater life satisfaction. Not marginally more. Significantly. And it's not just about trusting other people. It's about trusting life itself. Psychologists call this positive expectancy—a mental habit of expecting things to work out, even when we can't see how just yet. Trust that you can thrive at any age. Right now I am holding space for women 50 and older who trust that it's never too late to claim their life purpose, break free from fear and old patterns to fully embrace this new season of life. Set up a “Claim Your Purpose Strategy Session”. Call in joy and trust at any age. Understanding Food Addiction is today's topic, an interesting concept brought forth a few weeks ago in my interview with specialist Jane Pilger entitled Seeking Peace with Food Episode 31. Even if you haven't listened to that discussion, you'll find this episode extremely informative. First of all…. Food addiction is a complex behavioral condition characterized by an obsessive and compulsive relationship with food, often leading to negative consequences for one's physical and psychological well-being. Unlike regular overeating or enjoying food, food addiction often involves a pattern of binge eating, intense cravings, and a lack of control over food intake, despite the adverse outcomes. Researchers have begun to explore the neurological, psychological, and environmental factors that contribute to food addiction, and several potential cures or treatments are being investigated. This session delves into the concept of food addiction, presents research and case studies that shed light on its causes, and discusses possible treatments. The Chakra system, a complex and ancient concept derived from Indian spiritual and healing traditions, plays a significant role in understanding the mind-body connection. This episode explores the Chakra system's origins, its structure, and its relevance to health, particularly in the areas of emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Drawing on both traditional texts and contemporary interpretations, this session examines how balancing the Chakras can lead to improved health outcomes, highlighting the integration of the mind, body, and spirit. The Chakra system is rooted in ancient Indian traditions, notably in Hinduism and Buddhism, where it is seen as a map of the subtle energy system within the human body. The word “Chakra” is derived from the Sanskrit term meaning “wheel” or “disk,” representing the spinning energy centers located along the spine. These energy centers are thought to influence physical, emotional, and spiritual health. According to this system, each of the seven primary Chakras corresponds to a specific aspect of human life, and when these Chakras are blocked or imbalanced, physical and emotional symptoms may arise. Conversely, proper alignment and balance can foster healing, vitality, and harmony. Today we will delve into the Chakra system's history, its components, and its implications for health and wellness. The Chakra system is traditionally described as consisting of seven primary energy centers, each of which governs a different aspect of human existence. These centers are aligned along the spine, from the base to the crown of the head, and each has a specific color, element, and function. So let's get started! “Call IT in With Dar”! Today's episode is about positive psychology, and more specifically, the application of positive affirmations. Positive Psychology is a field of psychology introduced by Martin Selgiman in the late 20th century, and it focuses on the enhancement of wellbeing strengths and positive aspects of human experiences, rather than merely addressing mental illness, as was previously the case, one significant technique within positive psychology is the use of positive affirmations. You're probably familiar with these statements or phrases aimed at fostering a positive mindset, self-belief and improved emotional health. This podcast episode explores the relationship between positive psychology and positive affirmations, highlighting how the application of affirmations can contribute to mental and emotional wellbeing, personal growth and overall life satisfaction. I met Ellie several years ago and have been infatuated with her abilities as an empath, a psychic, her energy work and animal communication abilities. She talks to my dog, Clint, every time they see each other, and gives me new information. Her background includes teaching meditation and sacred movement in India and other places around the world. She is a skilled storyteller, as I'm sure you will quickly find out as we discuss mediumship and spirit communication in today's episode of “Call IT in With Dar!”Support the showFull Show Notes can be found at CallITInPodcast.comPhoto credit: Rebecca Lange Photography Music credit: Kevin MacLeod Incompetech.com (licensed under Creative Commons) Production credit: Erin Schenke @ Emerald Support Services LLC. In our last podcast episode, Terri Kiggins discussed the Emotion Code healing modality in our interview. So today, I thought that we'd explore a few other energy healing modalities, perhaps some of which you have heard of, Reiki, Healing Touch, Emotional Freedom Technique, commonly called EFT, and perhaps a couple more. Energy healing modalities have gained considerable attention in recent years as alternative forms of therapy aimed at restoring balance, promoting wellbeing and facilitating the body's natural healing process, eliminating pain. Practices like Reiki, Healing Touch and Emotional Freedom Techniques are among the most popular forms of energy healing, each with its own distinct philosophy, techniques and therapeutic benefits. In this podcast, we'll explore these modalities. We'll look at their philosophical underpinnings. We'll compare their approaches and examine their respective advantages in healing. We could probably go on and on and discuss energy healing modalities. The important thing is that. Reiki and Healing Touch use direct hand placement and gentle manipulation, where EFT uses tapping on acupressure points. And then there was Pranic Healing, which is no touch at all, focusing merely on the energy field. So energy healing modalities offer many advantages, and I think it'd be great if you give yourself the treat of trying many energy healing methods. We look back to previous episodes we have talked about the importance of clearing a space to allow for healing energy to come in and do its job. So today, I thought we'd take a look at several space clearing techniques. The practice of clearing spaces, both physical and energetic, has deep roots in various indigenous cultures, particularly among Native American tribes and shamanic traditions around the world, these techniques are often grounded in a profound understanding of the relationship between humans and their environment emphasizing harmony, balance and respect for the earth, this episode explores the methods used by Native Americans and Shamans to clear spaces the underlying philosophies and the contemporary application of these practices will also cover understanding space clearing itself. The term space clearing refers to the process of removing negative energy, stagnant emotions and unwanted entities from a physical space. This practice aims to create a more harmonious environment that promotes healing, clarity and positive energy flow; both Native American and shamanic traditions recognize that spaces can become charged with emotion or spiritual residue, often referred to as heavy energy. Overall, Native American and shamanic techniques for clearing spaces offer rich, culturally grounded practices that emphasize the importance of intention, connection and respect for the environment. As modern society increasingly seeks methods to enhance wellbeing and create harmonious living and working spaces, these traditional practices provide valuable insight by honoring these techniques, the space they inhabit can be more balanced and peaceful. So call in balance and peacefulness by clearing your spaces. “Call it in with Dar”Support the showFull Show Notes can be found at CallITInPodcast.comPhoto credit: Rebecca Lange Photography Music credit: Kevin MacLeod Incompetech.com (licensed under Creative Commons) Production credit: Erin Schenke @ Emerald Support Services LLC. Welcome to today's episode on paranormal activity. If we were to define paranormal activity, it usually refers to hauntings, unexplained events, often attributed to spirits or supernatural forces, haunting can manifest as sounds, apparitions or physical phenomena, and is often in locations with historical significance or traumatic events. Today, we're going to talk about some common types of paranormal activity, along with their definitions, some of the most well-known hauntings and the United States and a couple organizations dedicated to the paranormal. The most common is probably ghosts. And the definition of a ghost is a spirit or soul of a deceased person that remains on Earth, often believed to be tied to a specific location or series of events. Another is poltergeist, that is a type of a ghost or a spirit known for causing physical disturbances, such as moving objects, making loud noises or other forms of disruption, often associated with a particular individual. In the last episode, I interviewed Michelle Jacobson, and she mentioned using visualization techniques to communicate with our pets. So I did a little more research on that, and today, I'm going to explore the principles, benefits and applications of visualizations with animals, as well as a self-care tool for humans, which I've used myself. By harnessing the power of mental imagery, trainers can enhance their methods, improve communication with animals and achieve more effective training outcomes. So whether it's visualization for pet training or visualization for self-care, we know it's a versatile and effective tool for enhancing practices. Its psychological foundations, combined with this broad range of benefits, make it a very accessible methods for individuals seeking to improve their mental, emotional, physical, wellbeing or ability to train a pet by incorporating visualization into daily routines and self-care strategies, individuals can foster resilience, clarity and relaxation, ultimately leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life as the recognition of visualization continues to grow, it stands out as a valuable practice worth exploring and integrating into personal wellness journeys as well as pet training. So call in visualization. “Call IT in With Dar “Thanks for being with us today.Support the showFull Show Notes can be found at CallITInPodcast.comPhoto credit: Rebecca Lange Photography Music credit: Kevin MacLeod Incompetech.com (licensed under Creative Commons) Production credit: Erin Schenke @ Emerald Support Services LLC. Today's topic is something that we as humans have all experienced, and that topic is grief. We'll be zeroing in on understanding and expanding on the five stages of grief, knowing that this is a complex topic, and there are ongoing studies into it. Overall, Grief is a profound emotional response to loss, any type of loss, whether due to death, divorce, change in career or other significant life changes. The basic model of five stages was developed by Elizabeth Kubler Ross and it is instrumental in shaping both clinical practices and a popular understanding of the grieving process, despite its widespread acceptance, recent research and perspectives offer other insights that broaden our understanding of how individuals experience and navigate grief. This episode aims to define and expand on the stages of grief, looking at both this traditional viewpoint and also some more contemporary viewpoints. As with last episode's interview with Deb and processing grief, we can combine that with our knowledge of the different models of grief and be empathic, understanding and flexible in helping our friends and family through this difficult process. So call in understanding, call in tailoring approaches to specific needs. Call in the absence of a timeline and timing your own grief process or others. Are you your own worst enemy with critical, negative self-talk perhaps, about how you aren't good enough? If so, you know exactly what is meant by the term self-sabotage. In episode five of last week, my interview with Char set the groundwork for diving even deeper into the types of Self Sabotage, their consequences and how to address them. Self-Sabotage is a psychological phenomenon where individuals actively or passively hinder their own success or wellbeing, despite their conscious desires for growth and success. People engaging in self-sabotaging behaviors inadvertently obstruct their own paths. This episode explores the concept of self-sabotage, delves into various types and examines their implications. In definition, self-sabotage refers to actions, thoughts or behaviors that undermine an individual's ability to achieve their goals or maintain a positive self-image. These behaviors often arise from internal conflicts, unresolved issues or negative self-beliefs. They can manifest in various aspects of life, including career, relationships and personal development. Overall, self-sabotage is a complex phenomenon with various types and various underlying psychological causes. Understanding these different forms and their implications, is crucial for developing effective strategies to overcome them by addressing self-sabotage, first through self-awareness, then through cognitive restructuring and maybe professional support, individuals can work towards achieving their goals and improving their overall wellbeing so call in awareness of when you are participating in self-sabotage. Improve your overall wellbeing with self-awareness first. So call in awareness, call in overcoming self-sabotage situations whenever possible.
