Murphy has always focused on a cooperative leadership style to create a more transparent and educational company within the industry, emphasizing that open and positive communication are paramount. RMC is the only female-owned commercial construction firm in the city. Working with businesses like the Calgary Telus Convention Centre, Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts, Sheraton, Telus Spark, UNDRCARD Boxing Studio, Junction 9, Village Ice Cream, Gravity Café, and The Vin Room, RMC has been recognized nationally as one of the country's fastest-growing companies and featured in publications such as Canadian Business, the Globe and Mail, MacLean's Magazine, Report on Business, Alberta Venture, and Business in Calgary. Murphy is a public speaker who has participated in numerous panels and regularly gives talks about leadership, entrepreneurship, the construction industry, and women in business. Outside of work, Murphy loves giving back to her community, where she volunteers for various non-profit organizations.   My guest in this episode is Robert Murphy. Bob is a Research Assistant Professor at the Free Market Institute at Texas Tech.   He has a PhD in economics from New York University. After teaching for three years at Hillsdale College, Bob left academia for the financial sector, where he worked on portfolio management and economic research at Laffer Associates. Bob now is president of Consulting By RPM, and runs the popular economics blog “Free Advice” at ConsultingByRPM.com. Bob has testified before Congress and has given numerous interviews on TV and radio. He is the author of hundreds of articles and several books on economic topics aimed at the layperson, including The Politically Incorrect Guide to Capitalism (Regnery 2007), How Privatized Banking Really Works (2010 with Carlos Lara), and Lessons for the Young Economist (Mises Institute 2010). Bob is a Research Fellow at the Independent Institute and is the Senior Economist for the Institute for Energy Research, where he specializes in the economics of climate change. Murphy is on the board of the Nelson Nash Institute, which promotes understanding of Austrian economics and the Infinite Banking Concept (IBC).
