What happens when the military is unresponsive to the legal mandates from Congress and the president? Think back to Bill Clinton's "don't ask, don't tell" or the horrendous, taxpayer funded gender affirming surgeries that happen with increasing regularity in the US military. Joy Pullmann examines how queer identity politics are impacting the military and the rest of the US body politic. Joy Pullmann is executive editor of The Federalist. Her new book with Regnery is "False Flag: Why Queer Politics Mean the End of America." A happy wife and the mother of six children, her ebooks include "Classic Books For Young Children," and "101 Strategies For Living Well Amid Inflation." An 18-year education and politics reporter, Joy has testified before nearly two dozen legislatures on education policy and appeared on major media including Tucker Carlson, CNN, Fox News, OANN, NewsMax, Ben Shapiro, and Dennis Prager. Joy is a grateful graduate of the Hillsdale College honors and journalism programs who identifies as native American and gender natural. Joy is also the cofounder of a high-performing Christian classical school and the author and coauthor of classical curricula. Her traditionally published books also include "The Education Invasion: How Common Core Fights Parents for Control of American Kids," from Encounter Books. Queer identity politics seems to have almost a contempt for the American way of settling disputes and resolving issues. The problem compounds when bureaucrats adopt the ideology of queer identity politics. The power of the state then gets co-opted into sustaining the twisted fantasies of the sexual revolution - without actually solving any of the problems. Joy Pullmann, editor at the Federalist, joins Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse to discuss her new book: False Flag: Why Queer Politics Mean the End of America, and shows how the sexual revolutionaries don't play by the rules. Elements of the American ultra right -- including the trailing ends of the America First movement -- begin taking up a strange new cause after the war... sympathy for Nazi war criminals. The surprising efforts to oppose the Nazi war crimes trials, and advocate for individual Nazis at home and abroad, will involve some of the most high-profile voices on the American right, and will jumpstart the career of one rising Republican star, Sen. Joseph McCarthy.

Iota Unum talk from 24th November, given by Henry Sire, historian and Catholic writer. He is author of the controversial assessment of Pope Francis' pontificate The Dictator Pope, published by Regnery (2018).
Jeremy Carl: Yale, Claremont, Trump White House, Montana. Our guy in every sense of the phrase, Carl is one of those fortunate few who makes a living making good points. His incisive Twitter takes and threads (great one on Dominique Venner) mark the tip of the iceberg of a wide body of work in the vein of Christopher Caldwell and Christopher Rufo. He focuses on the intersection of culture/identity and law/policy—check out his work in American Mind and American Greatness—and is rapidly becoming the go-to guy on anti-white racism, a designation that, for reasons we discuss, makes us both uncomfortable. We talk about the history of race law and policy, whether the United States is a “white country,” and why the left doesn't want to call wokeness a religion.Keep an eye out for his upcoming book on the topic from Regnery, once called “It's Ok to Be White,” but now sadly renamed something less perfect. They about his latest book, Angels Against the Sun: A WWII Saga of Grunts, Grit, and Brotherhood (Regnery, 2023), which chronicles the 11th Airborne Division, nicknamed "The Angels," and their campaign. A bit about the book: The Pacific theater of World War II pitted American fighting men against two merciless enemies: the relentless Japanese army and the combined forces of monsoons, swamps, mud, privation, and disease. General Joseph Swing's rowdy paratroopers of the 11th Airborne Division-- nicknamed the "Angels"--fought in some of the war's most dramatic campaigns, from bloody skirmishes in Leyte's unforgiving rainforests to the ferocious battles on Luzon, including the hellish urban combat of Manila. The Angels were trained as elite shock troops, but high American casualties often forced them into action as ground-pounding infantrymen. Surviving on airdropped supplies and reinforcements, the Angels fought their way across nearly impassable terrain, emerging as one of the most lethal units in the Pacific War. Their final task was the occupation of Japan, where they were the first American boots on the ground. Angels Against the Sun is an unforgettable account of the liberation of the Philippines. In the tradition of Band of Brothers, historian and former paratrooper James M. Fenelon offers a grunt's-eye view of the war. This is a soldier's history at its best. Annika Nordquist is the Communications Coordinator of Princeton University's James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions and host of the Program's podcast, Madison's Notes. She graduated from Stanford University in 2021, where she studied Classics and Linguistics. She was also Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Review and a member of the varsity fencing team. Previously, she was a Research Assistant in Education Policy at the American Enterprise Institute.

Thanks! The Supreme Court has never had an Asian-American justice, but that could change with the next nomination, especially in a Republican administration. Several leading SCOTUS candidates on the right are Asian American, and the prospect of a historic “first” could make it marginally more difficult for Democrats to oppose the nominee. One of the top prospects, and the Asian American who has come the closest to SCOTUS in the past, is Judge Amul Thapar (6th Cir.). In 2018, Judge Thapar interviewed at the White House for the seat that ultimately went to Justice Brett Kavanaugh. And one can see why Judge Thapar was considered: he's a highly respected jurist with extensive experience as both a trial and appellate judge and an impressive, well-rounded résumé, including experience as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky and in Biglaw. Now Judge Thapar has added a new line to his CV: author. Earlier this month, Regnery published his first book, The People's Justice: Clarence Thomas and the Constitutional Stories that Define Him. By looking at the personal stories behind some of Justice Thomas's most famous cases, Judge Thapar argues that the justice's originalism often leads to results that favor the powerless over the powerful—which is why Judge Thapar has dubbed Justice Thomas “the people's justice.”I had been wanting to have Judge Thapar on the podcast for quite some time, and his book's publication provided an excellent occasion for welcoming him. In our conversation, we discussed his inspiring personal story as the son of immigrants, his interview for the high court, his success as a feeder judge, and The People's Justice—including how recent controversies over Justice Thomas affect the case for him as a man of the people. Thanks to Judge Thapar for joining me, and I hope you enjoy listening to this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it.Show Notes:* The People's Justice: Clarence Thomas and the Constitutional Stories that Define Him, Amazon* Potential nominee profile: Amul Thapar, by Edith Roberts for SCOTUSblog* Judge Amul Thapar On Discovery And The Civil Justice System, by David Lat for Above the LawPrefer reading to listening? Within political discussions on the Right, social conservatism is on the rise. Why did the Right have a libertarian phase, and why is it leaving it behind? What does social conservatism look like in the world of practical public policy, and what is its future? How do religious citizens fit within the conservative movement? Ryan Anderson '04, is the director of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, a thinktank at the forefront of just such questions. After graduating from Princeton, Dr. Anderson pursued his PhD in Political Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame. He is the co-author of five books, most recently Tearing Us Apart: How Abortion Harms Everything and Solves Nothing (Regnery, 2022). His research has been cited by two U.S. Supreme Court justices, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, in two Supreme Court cases. In addition to leading the Ethics and Public Policy Center, Anderson serves as the John Paul II Teaching Fellow in Social Thought at the University of Dallas, and the Founding Editor of Public Discourse, the online journal of the Witherspoon Institute. During the interview, Dr. Anderson references a scatterplot showing that there were more social conservatives than libertarian voters in the 2016 election, which you can find here.

Is feminism compatible with progress? Reactionary feminist Mary Harrington thinks not. In this interview, she discusses the history of feminism, her own journey from proponent to radical opponent of progress, the impact of technology on women and society, and, of course, her new book, Feminism Against Progress (Regnery, 2023). It's a crisis for the republic." Some version of this sentiment — that men are in trouble, adrift, or falling behind — is shared by writers and thinkers across the political spectrum. It's nearly impossible to open a magazine without finding an article about the state of manhood in America. Brookings Institution scholar Richard Reeves' 2022 book Of Boys and Men: Why the Modern Male Is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do about It is a best-seller. Figures like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate attract huge audiences, serving as reactionary self-help gurus for young people eager to be told what a man is and how he should behave. One doesn't have to accept the right's framing of the problem — nor any kind of gender essentialism — to acknowledge the statistics: boys and men are falling behind in education, in work-force participation, and succumbing to drugs, alcoholism, and suicide. Hawley — apparently having stewed on the topic for two years — has just released a book on "manhood," which advises a revival of biblical virtues to guide the aimless young men of 21st century America. To pair with Hawley, we read Harvey Mansfield's 2006 book on "manliness." Putting Hawley's evangelical Christian preaching in conversation with Mansfield's Straussian philosophical playfulness proved very constructive. Along the way, we talk about our own relationship to manhood and try to decide which (if any) of the virtues associated with maleness are worth preserving, defending, or even advising young men to embrace. Can conservative fight and win a culture war against the extremist Left? Peachy Keenan discusses her new book, Domestic Extremist: A Practical Guide to Winning the Culture War, which Regnery will launch on June 6. Peachy -- her pseudonym -- was raised by secular atheists and was a liberal feminist, but changed her views after meeting her husband and having children. She talks about her journey from being a secular pro-choice feminist to a devoted Catholic mom of five and how she was treated by society for making her own choices. We also discuss all the front lines of the culture wars -- Target, Disneyland, and Dodger Stadium among them.
The Donald duked it out with a CNN host last night. Among his other statements he said he would pardon most of the Jan 6 defendants… CA wants to pay “reparations” to blacks. But CA came into the Union as a free state… Biden's corruption is being exposed by Republican congressional committee. The legacy media remains quiet. Dennis talks to Peachy Keenan, a pseudonym for a writer and mother living deep behind enemy lines. She identifies as a husbosexual, which means she is only attracted to people who identify as her husband. She has a new book coming out next month from Regnery. Domestic Extremist: A Practical Guide to Winning the Culture War. You can find her on Twitter at @keenanpeachy Mark Davis guest hosts for Dennis for the last hour of the show. The Great Reset (Trailer): https://watch.tbn.org/m/xMufl01x/the-great-reset-trailerThe Watchman delivers inside, on-the-ground stories about what's really happening in Israel and the Middle East, and how it affects every American. https://watch.tbn.org/c/sns/mIiy6TFuhttps://watch.tbn.org/Erick Stakelbeck is Director of Christians United for Israel's CUFI Watchman Project and host of “The Watchman” program on TBN. He has spent nearly two decades years covering the Middle East and national security issues in-depth: traveling to the region, interviewing world leaders and wanted terrorists, and highlighting the shared threats to America and Israel. A 2013 Jerusalem Post profile stated that, “Within Evangelical Christian circles, Stakelbeck is considered by many to be the leading authority” on the issues of national security and the Middle East. In February 2016, Stakelbeck launched “The Watchman” show on TBN, joining the world's largest Christian television network with America's largest pro-Israel organization, CUFI, to produce a hard-hitting weekly, 30-minute newsmagazine focusing on Israel, America and the Middle East. The program airs every Thursday night at 11:30 pm EST on TBN and is seen worldwide. From 2005 to 2015, Stakelbeck was a correspondent, host and terrorism analyst for CBN News, covering the global war on terror, U.S. national security, the Middle East and the growth of radical Islam at home and abroad for the network's Washington, D.C. bureau. Stakelbeck's first book, “The Terrorist Next Door: How the Government is Deceiving You About the Islamist Threat,” was released in 2011 by Regnery Publishing to major acclaim. His second book was released by Regnery in July 2013. The “Brotherhood: America's Next Great Enemy” warns about the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood and the global Islamist movement. His third book with Regnery, “ISIS Exposed: Beheadings, Slavery and the Hellish Reality of Radical Islam,” was released on March 9, 2015. Stakelbeck is a regular commentator on leading national television and radio programs and a frequent guest on Fox News. His appearances include: The O'Reilly Factor, Hannity, Your World with Neil Cavuto, Fox and Friends, Justice with Judge Jeanine, Huckabee, America's Newsroom, CNN Newsroom, BBC, Al Hurra and many others. Stakelbeck has also contributed to Glenn Beck's The Blaze TV, guest hosting the Glenn Beck Program and providing in-studio analysis and investigative reports. From 2003 to 2005, Stakelbeck worked as a senior writer and analyst at the Investigative Project on Terrorism, a counterterrorism think tank founded by terrorism expert Steven Emerson. His articles on Islamic extremism, global terrorism and national security appeared in the Wall Street Journal Europe, Weekly Standard, Washington Times, New York Post, Jerusalem Post, and National Review Online, among other publications. Stakelbeck regularly speaks to audiences around the country on terrorism and Middle East-related issues, including at events for Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the annual National Religious Broadcasters Convention (NRB), ACT for America, the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the Israel Allies Foundation (IAF), the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), the Values Voter Summit and the Faith and Freedom Coalition, among others. Full show notes at https://www.lifeaudio.com/truth-tribe-with-douglas-groothuis/episodes Religious Founders The concern for truth and rationality Truth: what corresponds to reality. See Douglas Groothuis, Truth Decay. Rationality: testing truth-claims logically and by the evidence Categories of analysis: Sources of information, life, worldview, existential meaning Jesus (0-33 AD) Source of knowledge: the New Testament: Gospels, Acts, Epistles, Revelation Gospels: Written by eyewitnesses or those who consulted them Synoptic gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke—approximately 70-80 AD; John: 90 AD Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught—Luke 1:1-4. Epistles of Paul: written in 50s AD; probably before the Gospels. See I Corinthians 15:1-8 on the gospel and resurrection of Jesus Jesus' life Jewish itinerate teacher, preacher, prophet, healer, exorcist Taught the Kingdom of God has come (Matthew 4:17) Was crucified by the Romans Was worshiped by followers as resurrected from the dead (Romans 1:3-4) Jesus' worldview God: monotheism; Heavenly Father and Creator Human problem: sin (Mark 7:21-23) Solution to human problem: faith in Jesus's work (John 3:16-18) Jesus as God Incarnate (Mark 2; John 8:58); second person of the Trinity (Matthew 28:18-20) Existential meaning Forgiveness, fellowship, meaning through Jesus Christ (Matthew 6:33; 1 Corinthians 15:58) Confidence in life and death (Romans 8) Mohammad (570-632) Source: Koran (and Hadith and Sunna) Koran: One book received by one man from an angel; not written down by Mohammad, but others later 114 chapters: about the size of The New Testament Reinterprets Hebrew Bible and New Testament Hadith: commentary on Koran; Sunna: life of Mohammad Mohammad's life Received a revelation while meditating in a cave in 610 AD. Considered the last and greatest of the prophets: “seal of the prophets.” Life: Mecca and Medina Was a military, political, and spiritual leader after returning to Mecca from Medina Mohammad's worldview One God: Allah, monotheism Say (O Muhammad): He is God, the One and Only; God, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him.—Qur'an, Sura 112. Human problem: weakness, ignorance Human solution: confess Allah and obey his law Existential meaning Strive for paradise, avoid hell Keep precepts: confession of faith, giving, pilgrimage to Mecca, observe Ramadan, pray five times daily Extend the Islam throughout the world, so that all obey Allah's law (sharia) Rational Assessment of Jesus and Mohammad The sources for Christ more varied and rooted in history than the sources for Mohammad. Mohammad's claim to being a prophet is questionable, given his denial of the identity of Jesus (not God) and his denial of the biblical gospel (Galatians 1:6-11) Claims of Mohammad based on the beauty of Koran and the early success of Islam Beauty is not the same as truth; some scholars claim it is not beautiful, but confusing. That is why Hadith is needed to interpret it. The success of Islam does not argue in its favor, since might does not make right Claims of Jesus are based on historical documents close to the events described (four Gospels) Qur'an and New Testament agree that: Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary (Qur'an, Surah 3:38-48) Jesus was a messenger (Qur'an, Surah 5:75) Jesus is sinless (Qur'an, Surah 19:9) Jesus was “the Messiah” (Qur'an, Surah 4:171) Jesus was “a word from God” (Qur'an, Surah 4:171) Jesus worked miracles (Qur'an, Surah 3:49) Jesus ascended to heaven (Qur'an, Surah 4:148) Jesus will come again—Second Coming (Qur'an, Surah 43:61) Koran and New Testament disagree on whether or not Jesus claimed to be God (John 8:58; 10:30); Apostles claimed this as well (John 1:1-3; Colossians 2:9); contra: Qur'an 19:20, 24; 112:1-4 Jesus is the only Mediator between God and man (John 14:1-6; 1 Timothy 2:5; Matthew 11:27) Jesus was crucified to atone for sin against God (Luke 18:31-32); contra: Qur'an, Surah 4:157-158. Biblical and other historical evidence from the ancient world agrees that Jesus was crucified The significance of Jesus' suffering and death You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us—Romans 5:6-8. Existential significance Mohammad gives no basis for a relationship with God; this would be “shirk”—giving Allah a partner Mohammad is not a mediator or a miracle worker, nor was he raised from the dead. He is dead. Jesus establishes a relationship with God as Lord and Savior. Jesus: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light—Matthew 11:28-30. Ready for the weekend? Harry Crocker gives us another literary change of pace in his new Regnery book Armstrong and the Mexican Mystery, a re-imagining of George Armstrong Custer into an adventurer and detective. Harry and I discuss the need to use fiction to teach greater truths, and the value of sheer entertainment in a 60-second-news-cycle world. I also cover the top stories today, including Stacey Abrams' conspiracy theory about ultrasound machines, Joe Biden's lies about the Catholic Church and abortion, and the apparently sudden end to the Matt Gaetz probe at the DoJ.
According to political philosopher Ryan T. Anderson and journalist Alexandra DeSantis, abortion harms everything it touches. It is an act of lethal violence against a child and leaves many women with lifelong regret and feelings of guilt and loss. Far from empowering women, abortion has reduced privileged women to serving as economic drudges to abortion-friendly corporations. “Pro-choice” culture pressures poor and minority women to regard abortion as liberating and presents childbearing as against their interests. These are some of the arguments in Anderson and DeSanctis' book, Tearing Us Apart: How Abortion Harms Everything and Solves Nothing (Regnery Publishing, 2022). This is an unabashedly pro-life book. It portrays abortion—from what happens to the child and mother during an abortion to the way that the pro-abortion jurisprudence of the Roe Era of 1973-2022 led even supposedly conservative Supreme Court justices to misread the Constitution. The authors argue that pro-abortion legal arguments have ranged from calling the child in the womb “a potential life” and treating abortion as a mostly medical issue and privacy matter (in Roe) and then an economic justice and gender equality issue (in Planned Parenthood v. Casey) to now a matter of convenience sans any moral discussion at all. The book makes clear why millions of pro-life activists spent decades fighting to end Roe and how they are now gearing up to assist the mothers and children who will face life together in a post-Roe world. The authors call for the entire country to pull together to create a pro-life, pro-family society in which the laws governing abortion or outlawing it entirely have now been returned to the states and the people. Today we will talk to one of the co-authors of the book, Alexandra DeSanctis. Give a listen. Hope J. Leman is a grants researcher. Learn more about your ad choices. We have captured the most elusive cryptid: fortean researcher Cole Herrold! He sat down with us to discuss.. well... everything essentially! We go deep into the Ljubovija Phantom, mistakenly referred to as a Serbian Mothman, exploring the cultural context and sociological intricacies of the flying humanoid enigma which has been plaguing every continent for the past century. We share our views and perceptions of this entity, why helium balloons make us shit our pants, why horrific war crimes cause caped crusaders to fly around the skies of Serbia, and finally why bat-winged deities possess humongous erections (a topic we should go back to in another episode). Oh yeah... tangents! Old Saybrook Blockeheads! Veggieman! La Lechuza! Aswang! The Jersey Devil! Popobawa!
