For context, many military members look to stay in for a 20yr career which means they can retire and receive 50% of their previous pay starting immediately and maintain full medical coverage. They also have the option of investing through a 401k style vehicle (traditional/Roth) called TSP. In 2018, they created a blended system where they match 5% contributions and now only give 40% retirement pay at 20 yrs of service. Plus, through their career, the military jobs are consistently in demand with plenty of job security. To me, talking entrepreneurship/IBC is a way to try to short-circuit the thought process and behavior of well-meaning people who believe they are doing the right thing by serving their country.
