Stuart talks about the effects of alcoholism on his life and the benefits of recovery in Alcoholics Anonymous.  His dad left the family early and his family was poor, so he felt these effects during his early schooling. Stuart formed friendships with kids in similar positions and started drinking around 16 years old and using marijuana when he was about 18.  Money was an ongoing problem though, even when he had a successful business as his alcoholism progressed.  Stuart found help with his alcoholism through Alcoholics Anonymous and his life improved, but his money management was still a out of control. You know him as the OSU Gameday Host, but Les Thomas is so much more. He served in the Air Force for nearly 20 years, and currently serves as the Area Director of OKC Youth for Christ. In this Snippet of Good Les shares how he sees young people giving back and choosing to invest in communities. Enjoy!

With a deck stacked against him, he could’ve been a statistic, continuing down the wrong path, making poor choices and maybe even ending up in prison. Instead, my dear friend Les Thomas made a choice to rise above his circumstances. He intentionally surrounded himself with people who would lift him up and lovingly speak truth to him. He became a successful hip-hop artist, university sports hype man, respected military member, and a unifying force in his community. But Les didn’t just rise up alone. He has invested in local youth, bringing up others alongside him. But it hasn't all been smooth sailing. When his beloved mother lost her battle with cancer, bitterness threatened to take a strong grip on his heart. He had a decision to make: let it consume him or face the pain and use it to further propel him to greatness. Having met by way of feminism and videogames, both Les and Sybil know the importance, the need for strong female figures in the lives of all genders. Ruger, the character created by Sybil Danning, is being franchised into a cloud videogame, graphic novel and film. She is a mystery, and you may learn more during the next hour or so, maybe even a little bit from Sybil herself. We'll also talk to Les about Sybil Danning representing Dzmitry Samal's new line of eyewear. Sybil will be wearing simple black in a classic Hollywood style that she so embodies. The black does not limit but extenuates the eyewear's singular pixilated quality. In addition, Les will talk about how the Ruger game is a gateway program to helping the world through computing in technologically remote parts of the world.
