Virtual Stack Podcast is back after a long break! On the 37th episode of the show, I'm joined by the authors of the book "AI as a Service", Peter Elger (CEO, fourTheorem) and Eoin Shanaghy (CTO, fourTheorem). No need to mention the importance of the role that AI/ML play in digital transformation. With the incredible speed of evolution of cloud computing, it's now much easier to adopt cloud-based solutions rather than building everything by yourself. Peter and Eoin's book explain the AI as a Service with real world examples. I have free eBook codes for this book and you’ll get one if you’re one of the first 5 people to share my LinkedIn and Twitter posts with your network. Besides that, you can use the code “podstack20” for a 40% discount on all Manning Publications products. Virtual Stack is available on all major apps: Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Podcast, Stitcher and more. As usual, feel free to share your feedback via Twitter (@emregirici), LinkedIn or virtualstack.tech. Show Notes: 02:00 - Intro 08:30 - Current cloud landscape and definition of AI/ML and Serverless 17:30 - Who can benefit the most from reading the book? 19:45 - What are the main use cases for AIaaS and which industries can benefit the most? 21:30 - When do you recommend using AIaaS versus DIY, or vice versa? 27:00 - How would you build a web application using AIaaS and Serverless technologies? What are the architectural building blocks and public cloud services? 36:00 - How can we be more effective and efficient while using AIaaS? 41:00 - Recommendations for further learning and closing notes Links: Peter and Eoin's book: "AI as a Service" Peter's Twitter Eoin's Twitter SLIC Starter: A complete starter project from fourTheorem for production-grade serverless applications on AWS.

Non-Profit Leadership is a calling and an opportunity to serve with passion for what matters most. This week on Inspiring Leaders, we learn about authentic leadership from the CEO of the Ottawa Mission, Peter Tilley. “If you are a CEO or COO and every morning is an exercise in drudgery, get out, take that leap of faith and have courage” Peter Tilley has served in remarkable roles for decades, including a management role at Quantum Management Services in the 1990s. But in 1994, joined the Ottawa Food Bank as a driver and worked his way up to become their Executive Director, overseeing all aspects of this non-profit that shipped out 8 million pounds of food with a budget of $4M per year, responsible for 25 staff and countless volunteers. “Passion is a defining feature of any great leader” Four years ago Peter began overseeing the Ottawa Mission, including more than 100 employees and a huge team of inspired volunteers. The Mission was founded over a hundred years ago by a group of Christian businessmen who wanted to help others facing difficult times, providing food, shelter and clothing. Today, the Mission is viewed as an important piece of the City’s social fabric. Along with providing shelter for 235 men on a nightly basis and serving 1,200 meals per day, The Mission provides a number of client services that enable men and women to cope with the challenges they face in their everyday lives. “Have that courage that in five years from now you’ll be looking back thinking I made the right choice” Over the past 15 years The Ottawa Mission has incorporated new programs, such as a Hospice, Addiction Treatment, Client Services Centre, Learning Centre and a Medical/Dental Clinic. “The Volunteers here keep me motivated!” LINKS: Peter on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/peter-tilley-b28b7947 Peter on Twitter: @peter_tilley Peter’s Email: ptilley@ottawamission.com The Ottawa Mission: https://ottawamission.com Donations to The Ottawa Mission: https://secure3.convio.net/omf/site/Donation2?idb=1011194527&1400.donation=form1&df_id=1400&mfc_pref=T&idb=0&s_locale=en_CA Leadercast: https://www.leadercast.com Ubiquity Leadership Coaching: www.UbiquityLeadership.com

#25: Do you have desire to become a speaker, or even just to communicate more effectively as business owner / entrepreneur? IF yes, you are in for a treat. :) Today’s guest is Peter Billingham, the Public Speaking Coach for Entrepreneurs. He helps entrepreneurs become better speakers by writing speeches for them and coaching them how to deliver the material. (online/face to face) Many business leaders/entrepreneurs are very passionate and knowledgeable about their subject matter but do not have communications skills that allow them to clearly articulate, engage and call an audience to action. I met Peter in person twice as he was the MC for New Media Europe Conference and did such a fantastic job. As we chatted further, I figured he has massive experience in this area with a very interesting journey as well. In today's interview, you would find us in a more layback conversation, but we covered some important topics such as: The common mistakes of new speakers and how to avoid them How I practiced for my stage time on John C Maxwell event and got standing ovation in a 700 plus crowd. Peter’s secret “sticky” technique as event MC and professional speaker to be memorable in audience’s mind. Now, let’s chat with Peter. Key Lessons: The common mistakes of new speakers and how to avoid them How I practiced for my stage time on John C Maxwell event and got stand ovation in a 700 plus crowd. It's a podcast first this week for me as I welcome the first Norwegian guest onto the show. And what a wonderful conversation it was with the amazing man that is Peter Svenning. Peter helps people and businesses develop leadership, connection and communication skills from a 'heart based' perspective. In fact, his website tag line is "Leadership by Heart," which I love. But he's not just some corporate dude who broke free and started his own leadership business. Peter spent a large part of his younger years living a much more 'eastern lifestyle' as a monk and travelled the world while learning and teaching about the life principles he was discovering. So it was extremely interesting to hear about his story and how he transitioned from the monastic life into being a very successful business owner by spreading his message. In The Episode, We Talk About... Peter's story of going from living as a monk into successful, heart-based business owner. The biggest lessons Peter learned from his time as a monk that can be applied to 'everyday life'. How to create your own personal spiritual retreat. Peter's five simple steps to create deep relaxation at any time and place. The incredible power of meditating early in the day. How to achieve inner freedom. How to effectively communicate with people from the heart. The five steps to follow for establishing a deep connection with someone in any situation. How to get what you want out of situations without feeling guilty. And much more...
