The young queen is devastated, but latches on to the fact that Loras still lives and seems determined to seek to revive him.More non-Tyrion dwarf's heads are placed before her. The High Septon sends an emissary rather than himself to Cersei's annoyance. The faith is trying to shut down the brothels on the Street of Silk also to Cersei's, and every sailor's, annoyance. Grand Maester Pycelle reports that Lord Gyles Rosby seems to be dying. She dreams of her meeting with Maggy the Frog, the details of whose prophecy continue to come true (she did marry the king, she did become queen), which wouldn't be a problem but the prophecy turns a lot darker after that: she'll be replaced by a younger more beautiful queen, her three children will die, and the valonqar will choke the life from Cersei. Simon and Mackelly hope she knows what she's doing.Chapter Review:Little King Tommen Baratheon wants to be more involved, he is king after all. Queen Cersei Lannister isn't having it. It's her turn to shine, and Margaery Tyrell's ideas in her son's head aren't going to stop her. Cersei has a long day filled with meetings. While meeting with the merchant's guild, Grand Maester Pycelle interrupts to bring news that Lord Wyman Manderly has beheaded the Onion Knight. Cersei is thrilled and promises to return Wyman's heir. She also meets with an envoy from the Iron Bank. They want their payments but Cersei doesn't budge. Afterward, she talks with Ser Osmund Kettleblack about his brother Osney's attempts at bedding Margaery. They've been stalled by the constant presence of others around the younger queen. Cersei assures that she'll provide the opportunity for him to make his move. She then squashes the merriment around Tommen's jousting success.Bath time provides no relief when Jaime and Tommen burst in. Tommen wants to train under Loras Tyrell and Cersei shoots it down. Jaime thinks she's either drunk or stupid. When he leaves she decides she must be rid of him soon. She dines with Falyse and Balman Byrch. She masterfully plays the worried mother and convinces Balman to kill Bronn before he helps Tyrion kill Tommen. After dinner she reminisces over her love for Rhaegar Targaryen and the hurt of being spurned as his betrothed. She never forgave Robert for killing him because lions don't forgive easily. The conversation doesn't go quite as Jaime hoped. Kevan is furious at both twins for their incest, the shame their bringing to the family, and Cersei's refusal to toe (Kevan's version of) the party line. Kevan is headed to the Riverlands where rumor has it that Sandor Clegane has joined forces with Beric Dondarrion to terrorize the citizens. Jaime's warning to be careful manages to sound like a threat.Jamie notes that King's Landing seems emptier now that the Tyrells have left. Cersei is awakened to the news that her father is dead. She can hardly believe it, but is not exactly broken up about it. At least her little brother is locked up and will be a head short by this evening. Ah, about that: he's escaped. Mackelly and Simon spot many of Cersei's character flaws, while ignoring their own.Chapter Review:Cersei dreams of sitting the Iron Throne. It's a great dream until Tyrion appears, and her clothes disappear. Then it takes a nasty turn. She gets cut and the Iron Throne fights her. Tyrion laughs. A maid wakes her. Not to save her from the dream but because the Kingsguard are here to let her know that Tywin is dead. Cersei's struggling to separate the dream from reality. But she begins to piece it together. She dresses and is escorted to the Tower of the Hand.En route, she ponders how she should react and how she and her rivals will use her father's death to their advantage. Jamie has followed the secret passage in the fireplace, and Loras Tyrell has been sent to check on King Tommen. She sends Boros Blount to confirm that Tyrion is still secured. She wants Pycelle to prepare her father's body, but he's been and gone and not even bothered to remove the quarrel from Lord Tywin's guts.Qyburn comes in and prepares the body, and asks what's to be done with Shae. Cersei hadn't even noticed her. She wants her removed quietly, so nobody gets the idea that Tywin was consorting with a prostitute. Jamie arrives back, no sign of the murderer. She offers him the role of Hand, he refuses. Uncle Kevan demands that they stop squabbling. Blount returns with news that Tyrion is escaped. Jaime reminisces about the bygone glory days of the Kingsguard. He turns his attention to righting the wrongs of the current White Swords. He goes man-by-man through his sworn brothers, calling them out on the issues he has with them. Lastly, he has a heart-to-heart with Loras about his claim that Brienne killed Renly. Jenny and Mackelly applaud Jaime's closing arguments.Chapter Review:Jaime Lannister reads through the White Book, the written history of the Kingsguard, while waiting for his sworn brothers to join. When his brothers arrive, Jaime admonishes them for allowing the king to die under their watch. He then gauges their opinions on Tyrion's involvement in the death.He goes through each man and calls them out on issues. Ser Boros Blount will now be King Tommen's taste tester, as he's unfit to protect the boy he gave up so easily. He then questions why he's never heard of Ser Osmund Kettleblack before. After that, he asks Ser Meryn Trant to show him where in their vows it says to beat women and children, like he did to Sansa Stark. He praises Balon Swann's character but questions how he'd handle his family challenging Tommen's rule.Finally, he turns his attention to Ser Loras Tyrell,  who reminds Jaime of himself at that age. Jaime makes a case for Brienne's possible innocence in the murder of Renly Baratheon. His argument is enough to seed doubt in Loras' mind. Jaime tasks Loras with talking with Brienne and deciding her innocence or guilt. In questo episodio Tyrion, Cersei e Littlefinger apprendono la notizia dell'improvvisa morte di Renly da Lord Varys, che tramite i suoi uccellini conosce quasi tutte le versioni raccontate in giro. In breve: il re è stato ucciso repentinamente poco prima della battaglia contro il fratello Stannis e alcuni sospettano proprio quest'ultimo come mandante dell'omicidio (e avrebbero ragione). Ora c'è da capire cosa ne sarà dell'enorme esercito che viaggiava con Renly, ancora fermo a Bitterbridge. Alcuni lord hanno già giurato fedeltà a Stannis, in particolare i Florent, mentre alcuni sono ancora restii a passare all'altro fratello Baratheon. Cosa fare allora per vincere l'appoggio dei Tyrell e portare dalla loro parte tutta la potenza e la ricchezza di Highgarden? Solo una cosa potrebbe convincerli: un matrimonio reale e una buona parola da parte di Loras Tyrell, il preferito di Lord Mace. Ci mettono un po' i tre a convincere Cersei che mettere da parte Sansa e far sposare Joff e Margaery sia l'affare del secolo. Sansa watches as Tywin Lannister takes control in King's Landing. The Tyrells fully embrace the new alliance, the Lannisters dole out rewards to loyalists, punish their enemies, and pat themselves on the back. King Joffrey drops her for another, putting Sansa on cloud nine. But Dontos brings her crashing back to earth. Simon and Mackelly try to break her fall. Chapter Review:Sansa Stark stands in attendance as the Lannister family congratulate themselves and their allies. Lord Tywin Lannister takes over as Hand of the King. Mace, Garlan, and Loras Tyrell ask favors of the king, all are granted. The biggest ask being that Joffrey put Sansa aside and marry Margaery Tyrell.After that, it's time to split up the winning from the Battle of the Blackwater. New lords are made, including Lancel Lannister and Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish. More than six hundred men are knighted. Finally, the Stannis Baratheon supporters are dragged before the king. They're made to beg his forgiveness, to retain their titles and lands. Most do, but some choose death by vocally disparaging the boy king.When all the glad-handing, promotions, and begging for forgiveness are over, Sansa returns to her chamber. She can hardly remember a time she's been this happy. She won't have to marry Joffrey. She doesn't know what will happen to her, but it has to be better than marrying that monster. Ser Dontos Hollard disagrees. He thinks nothing has changed. But he's set a date for their escape: Joff's and Margaery's wedding day. He also has a present for her, in the form of a beautiful hair net. News of Renly's death has reached the small council in King's Landing. They dispatch Littlefinger to treat with Loras Tyrell - the leader of the faction that hasn't pledged fealty to Stannis. The offer? Renly's widow Margaery Tyrell to marry Joffrey and be queen. Simon and Mackelly consider the implications. Chapter Review: Varys shares the reliable news that Renly is dead and many unreliable accounts of who did it. Tyrion is disappointed, he'd hoped that the Baratheons' fight would drag on for months. The bad news is compounded by the rapid switching allegiance (to Stannis) of the majority of the noble houses. The slightly better news for team-Lannister is that Ser Loras Tyrell has ridden off taking maybe 20 percent of the lords with him. And Ser Courtney Penrose, castellan of Storm's End, fearing a trick, will not open the doors to Stannis until he sees Renly's body - which has gone missing. So how to turn this dissenting minority to the Lannister cause? Tyrion suggests marriage. Should Renly's young widow Margaery (Tyrell) marry Joffrey, then the two wealthiest houses in Westeros would be conjoined. The Lords of the Reach who have now pledged to Stannis would have to reconsider. And the balance of power might just be tipped. After some debate, Petyr Baelish is chosen to take the message to Loras and Margaery. He grifts for every bit of money and influence he can get out of the chore. But Tyrion grudgingly admits he's the right man for the job. After the meeting, Cersei thanks Tyrion for his efforts and kisses him on the forehead. This week's episode of Game of Thrones was season 5's most action-packed installment yet, thanks to the rise of the Faith Militant and the growing threat of the Sons of the Harpy. Joining us in our in-depth discussion of the events that took place is We Got This Covered writer Sam Woolf, who has some of his own interesting theories and reactions to this week's shocking cliffhanger. In case you missed it, “Sons of the Harpy” ramped up the events in King's Landing when Cersei decided to arm the Faith Militant and name the High Sparrow the High Septon of the realm. She taunted Margery by having the Sparrows arrest Loras Tyrell for crimes against the gods and left the newly crowned King Tommen to pick up the pieces. While all hell broke loose in the capital, Jamie and Bronn landed in Dorne and continued their suicide rescue mission for Princess Myrcella. The Dornish storyline also brought us our first look at Oberyn's bastards, known as the Sand Snakes, and we try to decide if they live up to his legend. In northern Westeros, Jon Snow survived Melissandre's first seduction attempt while Stannis finally revealed the softer side of his hardened heart. He continues to be one of the most controversial characters on the show and we weigh in on the merit of his methods, intentions and recently discovered love for his daughter. Finally, we round out this week's exciting discussion by talking about the climactic skirmish between Greyworm, Barristan Selmy and a band of harpies that had us clamoring for more.
