She squashes tiny rebellions by her little king, cheers the death of a foe, plots the downfall of Margaery Tyrell and Bronn, spurns the Iron Bank, and so much more. Simon and Mackelly hope she knows what she's doing.Chapter Review:Little King Tommen Baratheon wants to be more involved, he is king after all. Queen Cersei Lannister isn't having it. It's her turn to shine, and Margaery Tyrell's ideas in her son's head aren't going to stop her. Cersei has a long day filled with meetings. While meeting with the merchant's guild, Grand Maester Pycelle interrupts to bring news that Lord Wyman Manderly has beheaded the Onion Knight. Cersei is thrilled and promises to return Wyman's heir. She also meets with an envoy from the Iron Bank. They want their payments but Cersei doesn't budge. Afterward, she talks with Ser Osmund Kettleblack about his brother Osney's attempts at bedding Margaery. They've been stalled by the constant presence of others around the younger queen. Cersei assures that she'll provide the opportunity for him to make his move. She then squashes the merriment around Tommen's jousting success.Bath time provides no relief when Jaime and Tommen burst in. Tommen wants to train under Loras Tyrell and Cersei shoots it down. Jaime thinks she's either drunk or stupid. When he leaves she decides she must be rid of him soon. She dines with Falyse and Balman Byrch. She masterfully plays the worried mother and convinces Balman to kill Bronn before he helps Tyrion kill Tommen. After dinner she reminisces over her love for Rhaegar Targaryen and the hurt of being spurned as his betrothed. She never forgave Robert for killing him because lions don't forgive easily. Jaime might've bitten off more than he can chew with standing vigil over his father for seven days and nights. While battling sleep, he recalls his last conversation with Rhaegar Targaryen as well as his recent one with the chief undergaoler. He's visited by Cersei and again rejects her plea to be Hand of the King. Finally, he brokers a lunch for Cersei and feeds her exact steps to success. Simon and Mackelly wonder if she'll still muck it up.Chapter Review:While Jaime Lannister stands vigil over his father's body, he thinks of how if he'd known that Tyrion was going to kill their father he'd have stopped him. He thinks of the conversation he had with the chief undergaoler of the Red Keep dungeons. He gets the same story Cersei got regarding Rugen, the missing undergaoler. Jaime is furious to learn that the turnkeys who fell asleep the night of Tyrion's escape were murdered, by order of the queen.Said queen appears in person, as Jaime stands vigil. She's dressed as a commoner to escape notice. She says Kevan refused her offer of Hand of the King and that he knows about Jaime and Cersei's relationship. She begs Jaime to reconsider taking the role of Hand of the King. Jaime again refuses. Again, in no uncertain terms. A furious Cersei stalks off after unleashing a barrage of angry words toward Jaime.When the sun comes up, mourners again flood the Great Sept of Baelor. Tywin's body has continued to decay and the odor has intensified greatly. When Queen Cersei and King Tommen approach the corpse, Tommen gags and runs for the door. Jaime goes after him and consoles the little king. Queen Cersei arrives and admonishes her son for embarrassing her. Mace Tyrell is close on her heels. Jaime sets up a lunch between Cersei and Mace, to Cersei's annoyance. Tyrion has an awkward dinner with Sansa then gets lost in Littlefinger's financial books. He then has a family gathering filled with news of Robb Stark's death and his family's involvement, as well as Tywin's plan for Gregor Clegane. Throughout it all, King Joffrey is rotten, but this time he attacks Tywin. That does not go over well. Mackelly and Simon ponder the punishments for our dear king.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister dines with his wife Sansa Stark. Awkwardness still reigns between them. Afterward, Sansa goes to the godswood and Tyrion digs into the crown's financial books maintained by Petyr Baelish.He's summoned to the Tower of the Hand. Upon arriving, Tyrion is handed a letter indicating that a Frey married a Tully and did something with wolf pelts. Joffrey blurts out that Robb Stark is dead. Awful Joff wants Robb's head to make Sansa kiss it. Tyrion takes umbrage and calls Joff a monster. When Joff calls him the same, Tyrion says that if he is, Joff should be careful as kings are dying like flies lately. The back and forth ends with Joff telling Tywin that he hid under Casterly Rock during Robert's Rebellion. Joff is sent to bed and Cersei is admonished for poor parenting before also being shown the door.Tywin tells Tyrion the price of the Frey alliance. Some Lannisters will marry some Freys and Roose Bolton is Warden of the North and will marry Arya Stark to his bastard son Ramsay.Tywin says he doesn't plan to give Gregor Clegane to Oberyn Martell. He's going to feed Oberyn the deceased Amory Lorch instead. Tyrion is dubious about the plan. Jaime heads south while Brienne stays a captive of Vargo Hoat. After a night's sleep and a dream, his conscience pricked, he heads back to Harrenhal and saves Brienne from a terrible fate. Simon and Mackelly open their minds a tiny crack toward his redemption?!Chapter Review:Jaime Lannister leaves Harrenhal alongside Lord Roose Bolton. The pair split up and head in opposite directions, both sending regards to Robb Stark and Tywin Lannister, respectively. Jaime reminisces about his trip through these parts after first donning the white cloak of the Kingsguard. He learns that Vargo Hoat was unhappy with Lord Selwyn Tarth's offer of 300 gold dragons for Brienne's safe return.That night he dreams that he's deep in Casterly Rock, where his family abandons him to the darkness. Only Brienne stays by his side. He's visited by the shades of his Kingsguard brothers and Rhaegar Targaryen. They admonish him for killing King Aerys and allowing Rhaegar's wife and children to be killed. He wakes and determines he's going back to Harrenhal.Upon arrival at Harrenhal, he discovers that Brienne has been thrown in the bear pit with nothing but a dress of silk and a tourney sword. He jumps in to save her. He protects her until crossbowmen kill the bear. Tyrion is surprised to welcome the feared warrior Oberyn Martell, rather than his more placid brother Prince Doran, to King's Landing. Oberyn is here for justice. Simon and Mackelly weigh up the chances.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister leads a group of dignitaries to welcome and accompany the 300-strong delegation from Dorne across the Blackwater. All the major Dornish houses are represented, but Prince Doran is uwell and has sent his firebrand brother Oberyn, the Red Viper, in his stead. Tyrion worries for Myrcella and peace.Oberyn has met Tyrion before, whenTyrion was a baby, and Martell a teenager. He was disappointed that Tyrion was not all that monstrous. He relates how Cersei abused Tyrion, and Jamie came to his rescue. All the while their father Tywin was absent in his grief over his lost wife.Martell wants justice for his beloved sister Elia who was murdered by the Mountain in the Sack of King's Landing. Arya burns her third wish in helping the north take Harrenhal from Amory Lorch. She's abetted by Jaqen H'ghar and surprisingly Vargo Hoat - who has switched sides and is working for Roose Bolton. Mackelly and Simon weigh up what this means for Arya and the war. Chapter Review:Arya Stark's life has improved since Weese died. She roams Harrenhal after dark. She visits Hot Pie who is making bread for the morning. Their conversation is disturbed by the arrival of Vargo Hoat's Bloody Mummers, with a hundred or more northern prisoners. He brags to Amory Lorch of a big victory over Roose Bolton's men. Lorch has the captives taken to a cell. Arya begins to think of a plan.She visits Gendry to enlist his help in freeing the prisoners. He's not interested. She offers him the amazing reward of the gratitude of her mother and maybe even a job at Winterfell? Be still his beating heart. He points out that he's doing the same job here, why should he care where or for whom. She goes instead to the Godswood to practice her water dancing, where she meets Jaqen H'ghar.She wants him to help her free the prisoners, but he only owes her one death. She says his name, and he threatens to do it. But Arya agrees to unname him if he'll help. With Rorge and Biter, they overcome the guards with kettles of soup and free the prisoners, who were expecting help. Turns out that Hoat had turned and the prisoners were an advance force of Roose Bolton's army.When Bolton arrives, he makes Arya his cup-bearer as a token of his appreciation for her aid in freeing Harrenhal.  Characters/Places/Names/EventsArya Stark - Younger daughter of Eddard "Ned" and Catelyn Stark. Arya's miserable life in Harrenhal continues. Weese's petty cruelties take their toll and she gives Jaqen H'ghar her tormentor's name. The Lorathi assassin delivers on his promise. Tywin and his army leave to fight Robb. Simon and Mackelly plan Arya's third wish. Chapter Review: Arya Stark is kept busy running messages for Weese. He has no clue that she can read, so he doesn't bother sealing them. The intel she gathers is utterly pointless. Meanwhile, the castle bustles as Tywin Lannister's army prepares to move out. Apparently he's had enough of Robb winning at every turn. Amory Lorch and his men will stay to garrison Harrenhal. She hears gossip of Robb's exploits, most of which sound fabulous, but hearten her nonetheless. After a gratuitous slap from Weese she bumps into Rorge. He is his usual charming self, threatening to make good on the perverse promises he made to her while he was Yoren's captive. His bravado drops when she mentions Jaqen's name. He's afraid? He meekly directs her to the bathhouse. There she whispers “Weese” in H'ghar's ear. The next day she regrets not being more strategic with her choice, as she watches Twyin's huge army head out to fight her brother. Arya's working as a servant for the Lannisters in Harrenhal. Life is not quite as miserable as it was on the road. Amongst the Lannister troops she notices Jaqen H'ghar. He tells her that he owes the Red god three deaths, to atone for the ones that Arya spared. He just needs names. Arya provides one, and the guys turns up dead two days later. Simon and Mackelly consider the remaining two wishes. Chapter Review: Arya Stark, still disguised as Weasel, is working as a servant in Harrenhal. It's woeful, but at least she has food and shelter so it beats the road. She is also able to stop the gender denial, which had to have been a burden. She's about as visible as a mouse to the Lannister nobles and soldiers, so they speak pretty freely in front of her. From this she learns that Robb is at Riverrun, a lot closer than Winterfell. She hatches a plan to reveal her true identity to one of the Northern hostages. She's knows only one personally, Lord  Medger Cerwyn, but he succumbs to his wounds before she can enact the plan. The various raiding groups stop by: The Brave Companions (aka the Bloody Mummers) of Vargo Hoat are a terrifying bunch of oddballs. Ser Gregor Clegane's men are evil monsters. And Armory Lorch's men have three new recruits: Rorge, Biter, and Jaqen H'ghar.  Jaqen tells Arya that he owes three deaths to the red god, for the three that Arya saved when she threw him an axe in the fire. After hearing a particularly monstrous story from Chiswyck (a member of Clegane's coterie) she offers him up. Two days later he's found dead: fallen from the battlements. They're held in the village while the Tickler tortures and kills villagers for information as to the location of any treasure and intelligence about Beric Dondarrion's increasingly legendary force. No amount of ingratiating or cooperation saves the villagers. Arya's at a low ebb. She feels that, as a water-dancer, she shouldn't have been captured. Another soldier called Polliver has Needle, severing her last tie to her family. Each night she whispers the names of all the people responsible for the deaths that have blighted her life since she left Winterfell. Eventually, the group moves out with the prisoners in tow. All the fighting age men are slain. Gendry only survives because his trade is useful to the Lannisters. On the march, Arya has to pee, and Hot Pie is astonished to discover her gender. Nobody else cares. Harrenhal is a scary place where the towers look like melted candles. Arya is assigned to the Wailing Tower as servant to Weese the understeward. Arya and the surviving recruits bury Yoren, subsist on acorn paste, and spy a village that is not completely abandoned. Reconnaissance gets Arya, Gendry, and Hot Pie captured by Gregor Clegane's men. Weasel escapes and Lommy meets his maker. Simon and Mackelly grope for positives. Chapter Review: Arya Stark, Gendry, Hot Pie, Lommy, and Weasel (the new name given to the crying girl) head back to the holdfast in the daylight. They bury Yoren and find three comrades still alive. Kurz succumbs to a wound, and the other two abscond rather than throw their lot in with Arya's crew. Lommy is injured and must be carried. Weasel has stopped crying. Continuing north around the western edge of the God's Eye, they find a village not entirely abandoned. Arya and Gendry check it out and determine that it is Lannister troops who inhabit it. Gendry is captured, so Arya returns to the others to solicit Hot Pie's help in a daring rescue mission. Lommy wants to abandon Gendry - but Arya convinces Hot Pie to help. Hot Pie makes enough noise as they enter the village to have them both immediately captured. Arya comes face to face with Gregor Clegane, the Mountain that Rides. Hot Pie cracks under questioning and leads the troops back to Lommy. Weasel has scarpered, and the Lannisters are unwilling to carry Lommy, so they run him through. Arya and her fellow recruits spend the night in an abandoned holdfast south of the God's Eye. Tywin's second favorite goon, Amory Lorch, and his gang arrive in the night and attack. Arya does all she can in battle, but eventually flees with Gendry and a couple of others, having paused to throw Jaqen H'ghar a lifeline. Simon and Mackelly worry for her future.Chapter Review:The Night's Watch recruits are stymied by an uncrossable river. They head north to the point of difluence with the Gods Eye lake. They find an unharmed village, utterly abandoned. No boats or anything useful. Gendry suggests that they could build rafts to get across to Harrenhal. Hot Pie fears ghosts, but Arya Stark sees her salvation: Lady Whent and knights will be waiting and she can reveal her true identity.Yoren wants to sleep on it, inside the small holdfast. Their sleep is disturbed by the arrival of a large mounted force that rides through the village setting fire to the homes. Amory Lorch verbally jousts with Yoren before setting his men to attack the terrified recruits. Arya acquits herself honorably enough, but there's only one winner between 300 hardened soldiers and 30 trembling recruits, regardless of the 10-foot high walls. She, Gendry, Hot Pie, an injured Lommy, and the crying girl use a tunnel from the burning stables to escape. An analysis of the Silver Prince, Rhaegar Targaryen and his relationship with Lyanna Stark

Ned gets a turn on the Iron Throne while King Robert is off hunting. His leg hurts and so do the various bits of him getting poked by the chair - curse you Robert, and you Aegon the Conqueror. His comfort is hardly enhanced by news from the Riverlands of murder and pillage by Lannister-men. Simon and Mackelly consider every implication. Chapter Review:Eddard Stark is in charge and sits the Iron Throne. He's not thrilled by either the responsibility, (Robert is off hunting) nor the ergonomics. While Sansa watches on, he is confronted with news of atrocities in the Riverlands. Un-sigiled brigands have sacked three towns, killing and raping - but not stealing. The only clue as to their identity - one of them is as big as a mountain. Against Grand Maester Pycelle's objections, Ned strips Ser Gregor Clegane of his titles, lands, and life and dispatches a sizable contingent under the King's banner to carry out the justice. He gives the lead of this mission to Ser Beric Dondarrion. In so doing, he slights Ser Loras Tyrell and Ser Ilyn Payne (the King's executioner). Lord Varys suggests that this might not have been the best strategic decision. Ned dreams of fighting to rescue his sister Lyanna. He wakes to find that the king and queen are waiting speak with him. Queen Cersei spins a yarn, Ned creates an awkward scene, and the royal couple squabbles leading to violence. Finally, Ned gets his old job back, whether he wants it or not. Chapter Review: Eddard Stark and six of his companions stand off against three members of the royal kingsguard. He wakes in the Tower of the Hand, a week after the fight with Jamie Lannister's men. The king and queen soon arrive and queen Cersei starts right in on Ned as the instigator of the fight. Robert commands that Cat Stark release Tyrion Lannister immediately and that Ned make up with Jamie. Ned tells Robert that he was coming from seeing Robert's baby daughter at a brothel. The king and queen begin an argument that ends with Robert hitting Cersei in the face, knocking her to the ground. The chapter ends with Robert tossing the Hand of the King pin to Ned and commanding that he take his old job back. Bran scales the towers of Winterfell and overhears the Lannister twins discuss incriminating topics and then perform some unexpectedly taboo deeds. We examine the accusations Jamie and Cersei claim Lysa Arryn has made, why Ned being Hand of the King could be trouble for them, why the queen is hoping her husband dies soon, and why Mac had to rush home for a shower emergency. Chapter Review: It's the day before Bran Stark and some of his family leave Winterfell for King's Landing. Bran hears them discuss the problems Ned becoming Hand of the King presents them, accusations Bran's aunt Lysa Arryn has made, and several juicy topics that could land them in hot water if anyone found out. Meredith Geddes and Jeremy Baker from CFOX are joined by Taylor Assion from the Storm Crow Tavern & Alehouse to discuss the season 7 finale! At King's Landing, the wight is presented to the Lannisters. Cersei demands Jon's neutrality in the Great War, but he upholds his oath to Daenerys, provoking Cersei to leave. Tyrion meets privately with Cersei, apparently persuading her to ally. Cersei later reveals to Jaime that she was lying and instead intends to use the Golden Company of Braavos to secure her hold on Westeros. Disgusted, Jaime deserts her and rides north. Bound for White Harbor, Jon and Daenerys make love. At Dragonstone, Theon earns the respect of his men and leads them to rescue Yara. At Winterfell, Littlefinger sows dissent using Arya's threatening demeanor with Sansa, leading to a trial. To his surprise, Littlefinger finds himself accused of murder, treason and betrayal, with Bran confirming the extent of his crimes. Deserted by the Lord of the Vale, Littlefinger is executed by Arya. Samwell arrives at Winterfell and meets with Bran, where both discuss Jon's parentage. They realise Jon is a trueborn Targaryen named Aegon and legitimate heir to the Iron Throne, as his parents — Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark — married in secret. At Eastwatch, the Night King rides the undead dragon Viserion and collapses a section of the Wall with blue dragon fire, allowing the Army of the Dead to march through.

It's a big episode, as Manu and Andrew talk about King Robert's royal party arriving in Winterfell. So many dead people are here! It's a little creepy in hindsight, and that's not even getting into the fact that future dead folks Robert and Ned decide to hang out in the crypts for a little while and talk about two more dead people: Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.
