In this episode, we dive into a topic that's often whispered about but rarely discussed openly—sexual intimacy aids and the powerful role they can play in relationships. Far from being just “toys,” these tools can help couples communicate better, deepen emotional connection, and reignite passion that may have faded into routine. We explore ten key ways intimacy aids can strengthen partnerships—from boosting confidence and balancing different desire levels, to helping couples explore new sensations together and maintain intimacy as needs change over time. Along the way, we also answer some of the most common (and sometimes awkward) questions couples ask: Are intimacy aids only for couples with problems? How do we bring them up without embarrassment? Do they replace closeness, or can they actually bring us closer?A couple of things that shifted our mindset on intimacy aids were setting two simple boundaries: “Does it bring us closer together?” and “Is it only used together?” Framing it this way helped us see these tools not as replacements for intimacy, but as bridges that deepen connection, playfulness, and trust.Whether you're in a brand-new relationship or decades into one, this conversation is all about breaking taboos, normalizing pleasure, and reminding couples that intimacy should be fun, evolving, and deeply connecting.Check out our great vibrating ring and lubricant we discussed on this episode HERE.Check out this great article "Can Using Sex Toys (intimacy aids) Really Make Your Marriage Happier?"If you haven't already, go check out the Ultimate Intimacy App in the app stores, or at ultimateintimacy.com to find "Ultimate Intimacy" in your marriage. Juli shares a conversation she had with the late Dr. Doug Rosenau, where he shared both what is missing and what is needed in the church when it comes to talking about the beauty of sex in marriage. On this episode of Couples Therapy, I sit down with my friends and pastors Irene and Jimmy Rollins who are in a seriously stressful season of life right now, which is starting to impact their marriage. The build-up of stress has caused new tensions, and without the old unhealthy coping skills of addiction to default to — they're having to pave a new path this time around. We talk through the stress they're facing, and how they can actually help one another — by learning what it truly means to help themselves. It's an eye-opening conversation for married couples about the possibility of developing codependency in marriage, and an important reminder about how continuing to focus on individual healing will always overflow into marriage. On this episode of Couples Therapy, I sit down with my friends and pastors Irene and Jimmy Rollins who are in a seriously stressful season of life right now, which is starting to impact their marriage. The build-up of stress has caused new tensions, and without the old unhealthy coping skills of addiction to default to - they're having to pave a new path this time around. We talk through the stress they're facing, and how they can actually help one another - by learning what it truly means to help themselves. It's an eye-opening conversation for married couples about the possibility of developing codependency in marriage, and an important reminder about how continuing to focus on individual healing will always overflow into marriage. Let's talk about Sex! In this mini episode of More Than Roommates, Derek, Gabrielle, and Scott discuss the importance of talking about sexual intimacy in marriage and why couples often struggle to discuss sex. Why is it sometimes challenging for you and your spouse to discuss sexual intimacy? How can you and your spouse create a marriage where you are fully known and fully loved? One of the best ways to help you communicate more effectively about sex is to read a book about sex together. We highly recommend the book Married Sex by Gary Thomas and Debra Fileta.Write down 2-3 adjectives about how you feel about sex and marriage. Share your responses with your spouse. Today on the podcast, I have a favorite friend back on for a SECOND on-air session, JP Pokluda!! In our initial conversation, JP and I talk through some of his challenges with having too much on his plate and moving into a season of burnout (listen to the conversation here). In that conversation, I asked if he had ever dug into his past history— and how it might be impacting what he does in the present. Today on the podcast, we jump into part two of the conversation and I ask him a few questions to consider from his past, and specifically his relationship with his dad and how that may have shaped his beliefs. Does he have father wounds that he needs to deal with? What could that look like? How may have his relationship with his father shaped his beliefs and motivations? How do you keep it from becoming part of your beliefs and identity? Today on the podcast, I talk with Faith from Georgia! She's 37 and single so she really wants to know how to know when you are trusting God with your dating life — versus when you are taking control of the situation yourself. Do you have to sit back and wait for things to happen, or can you take initiative? And what if you are a woman, where does that leave you in the equation of making a dating relationship happen – considering some people think it's wrong for a woman to take an initiative. We talked about what waiting on God actually means and what it doesn't mean… And how to be proactive with your love life in the meantime!! It's an episode every single who is wanting to date should listen to!!!! Extras: Soul Care: Order Soul Care Today! Is it possible to serve God and stay filled all at the same time? We know for a fact Jesus did it. But why is it that so many struggle to keep the “balance?” What does avoiding burnout look like for everyday pastors and leaders who are juggling family and ministry and life obligations? How do you even make time to fill up? Today I have a conversation with Pastor Tim Timberlake, who so graciously wrote the foreword for Soul Care, and we discuss what avoiding burnout looks like practically in his life today as a husband, father, and senior pastor of Celebration Church. We talk about how he prioritizes resting his body as well as his time with Jesus. You're not going to want to miss this FINAL episode of the Soul Care series.
