Mark is back at the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Montrose Basin site, but this time it isn't geese he's looking for, it's mosquitos. Recently Rachel went for a visit to see how the repair work was progressing. The archipelago of St Kilda, the most westerly islands of the UK, is a wild place with a fascinating history. It was inhabited until 1930 by very hardy folks, many of whom were adept at climbing the cliffs and sea stacks to hunt for birds and their eggs. St Kilda's climbing history is now being explored in a new film by professional climber and filmmaker Robbie Phillips. Helen Needham met up with Robbie to hear about how the film came about.Earlier in the week, it was announced that Jim McColl had died at the age of 89. Jim was one of the presenters of BBC Scotland's Beechgrove Garden from its outset until his retirement from the programme in 2019. We hear an archive clip of Mark chatting to Jim about how he got involved in the first place.Back to the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses in Fraserburgh where Rachel hears about a project to restore one of the old lighthouse keepers' cottages to how it might have looked in 1963.And we chat live to Mike Bullock, chief executive of the Northern Lighthouse Board, about the role of modern day lighthouse keepers. From now until Halloween, Glamis Castle near Forfar will be running what they are calling Ghosts of Glamis tours. Mark recently went along to hear some of the ghostly tales and see if he could spot any spooky goings on…In this week's Scotland Outdoors podcast Mark chats to Dr Roisin Campbell-Palmer, Head of Restoration at the Beaver Trust. We hear an excerpt where Roisin tells Mark about her early involved in the re-introduction of beavers to Scotland. If you read the Guardian newspaper, you may be familiar with the Country Diary. It's a daily natural history column which offers the reader seasonal observations and snapshots of the British Countryside. Recently Rachel met one of the regular contributors, Merryn Glover, at Loch Inch in the Highlands and asked her to reflect on what autumn means to her.

No your eyes do not deceive you - It is a shorter podcast than most. Jermayn Parker and Dan Fraser join to quickly discuss the news about Moonstone publishing new Phantom comics from the first half of 2024. You can read our initial report here.Like you, we have questions, heaps of questions. So we go over our own questions plus recap what we do know.We go over our initial responses plus why this is important news. We discuss the state of new Phantom stories release from USA since Moonstone lost the license 10 years ago and how it all coincides with the TV show in development, the new video game and how the NECA figurines was popular with high in demand sales. What we do know about the new series is: The stories will be serialised  - think the KGB Noir issues and or what Frew release. Each story will be around 50 pages (give or take) and the comics themselves will be around 50 pages (give or take). Will feature several stories including stand alone Phantom story and a cross over story with Mandrake and Lothar. Some stories will be in black and white.Released bi monthly.Mike Bullock will be the main writer.Argentinian Sergio Ibáñez will be one artist. Others to be named.First comic will be out in the first half of 2024.Majority of the stories will be about the 21st Phantom in today's modern AfricaThe questions we would like to see answered:Will there be variant covers? Is it a continuation of the previous Moonstone continuity or a new start? ie will we see the same bad guys like Ali Gutaale, Temur Singh, Arthur Locke, Anna Bacia and Manuel Ortega? If it's a new start: Will the Moonstone stories have a consistent lineage of historical Phantom's and the Phantom bible? How they go about fitting their tales into the existing universe and/or extending on that / breaking thatWill they reprint the old stories again? Will the issues be standalone stories or part of a wider arc? What stories must I read from a decade ago to follow on from what will be told in 2024?Now as mentioned in the article, we will be having Mike Bullock and hopefully Joe Gentile as well on a future podcast so if you have your own questions we did not ask or answer, please send them to our email address chroniclechamber@gmail.com or chat with us via our social media profiles in Facebook, Twitter and or Instagram. Make sure you stay tuned with us so you do not miss out on that and do not forget to subscribe and leave a review on our podcast and or our YouTube Channel. Support the show

The Ski with Wade Podcast – Episode 12A Chat with Mike Bullock and his Team at Swerve Watersports  SUMMARY: This episode of Ski with Wade introduces Mike Bullock, owner of Swerve Watersports in Hillsboro, Tennessee, and his team of young go-getters. The podcast features a background about Swerve, its location, and what it has to offer. Wade also interviews the young collegiate skiers who staff waterski lessons, tournaments, board sports, and the pro shop on Lake Grace.   BLOG:My recent Ski with Wade podcast took me out to a prime spot: Swerve Water Sports on Lake Grace. Halfway between Chattanooga and Nashville, this is the perfect spot not only because there's so much to do within a close drive but also because Swerve's lake is custom-built and fantastic by design! Surrounded on one side by woods, grass trails, and marsh and the other by nice lake houses, Swerve is an idyllic site. The lake was designed specifically for three-event water skiing with a shallow depth, slopes to eliminate rollers, and is the perfect shape. You'll also find restaurants and big-name stores less than five minutes away. It's a relaxed and friendly environment with great skiers coaching fans of all ages. First up I talk with Leland Rouse and his girlfriend Allie Steele, both University of Cincinnati graduates. Allie studied political science and plans to attend law school next year while Lee explains his health sciences degree, which he's going to use in the world of sports rehabilitation. They've been key in integrating a whole crew of University of Michigan water skiers at Swerve, which we meet next. The first guy up is someone I've known since, well, before he was born. Isaac Moothart is a rising senior at the University of Michigan who is studying computer science. His parents are old friends, so he's been skiing with me since he was a kid on vacation with his folks in Florida. Isaac is looking to impact people's lives in a positive way by engineering breakthrough technologies that will make life easier and smarter. Isaac introduced me to his friend and co-coach, Amelia Hall, also a senior at Michigan. She's planning a career in medicine, so is currently on a pre-med track with a Biology and International Studies major. Originally from just north of Traverse City, she plans to help people nationally and internationally get quality health care. We talk about a recent digger, which resulted in a ski that flipped around and left a half-inch gash. It's not an uncommon injury, but no fun all the same. She'll be back out on the water in no time! Next up is Jackie Lee, a relative beginner from the mid-Michigan area. She got into water skiing thanks to her boyfriend and transferred to the University of Michigan in part because she's of Asian descent and really appreciated the diversity Ann Arbor has to offer. She's majoring in communications and media and is another rising senior. She hopes to go into Human Resources – which she sees as an opportunity to work for inclusivity in the workplace. She tells me a bit about a mishap she had that was similar to Amelia's and it brings back a few memories of what it felt like to take a tumble. I talked next with Roy Haggland, who shares a computer science major with Isaac. A healthy scholarship will enable him to come back to the University of Michigan and compete one year beyond graduation, so that's pretty cool. He's from the Upper Peninsula, where he skied with the “Badwater Ski-ters,” a show team. He brings me up to date on the Michigan team, which has about 40 students on its roster.  Next, I chat with Ellie Roubal, our birthday girl. She's studying earth and environmental science as a rising junior competing with Michigan's team. Her dream job is doing

Brandon and Jerry continue the discussion with author and pastor, Mike Bullock, on the best explanation of love in a world that has cheapened the word. What is Love - Baby Don’t Hurt Me?You may have heard the 1993 hit song “What is Love?” by Haddaway. The lyrics open like this. What is love?Baby don’t hurt meDon’t hurt meNo moreThe majority of the song repeats combinations of that phrase. It is a dance tune after all. Mike shares how our world seems to have cheapened the word “love.” We use it to describe a food we like, “I love pizza!” We use it to describe our excitement over things like a new car, new computer, jewelry, etc.Focusing on the use of the word love probably has led to the best explanation of love we’ve ever heard. If love can be attached to meaningless, discardable things in our lives, what does that plant in our hearts and minds about discarding our closest relationships? Shouldn’t the definition of love in marriage be a much deeper one? The vows used in marriage often include phrases like the following: In sickness and in health For better or worse Richer or poorerLove accepts both the good and the bad in a life lived out together as one.The Best Explanation of Love starts with understanding the power behind the word. What is the Best Explanation of Love - A Concept of Love EssayReading what is love explained through The Missing Ingredient: Home-Cooked Relationships in a Fast-Food World provides one of the best explanations of love. Are you stuck in a rut with your own marriage? Unless there is abuse happening, it may not be time to throw in the towel. How Do You Define Love? The what is love answer is not so much about what you are getting out of the relationship, but what you are pouring into it. The grass is always greener where you water it. When you sacrificially and lovingly pour into your spouse, watch how she responds. It may surprise you.The grass is always greener where you water it.Change won’t happen overnight. There will be resistance even. Your marriage didn’t get into a rut in one night. It took time and effort to neglect each other, to put up barriers that weren’t there in the beginning. That’s probably the best explanation of love we can give here without giving away the gold that is in this week’s podcast episode.
