Torkel Brekke er professor i religion og samfunn ved MF Vitenskapelig Høyskole i Oslo. Han er spesialist på krigens etikk i verdensreligionene. Brekke har bakgrunn som professor i religionsvitenskap ved Institutt for kulturstudier og orientalske språk på Universitetet i Oslo (UiO), samt som professor i kulturelt og religiøst mangfold ved OsloMET. Brekke har doktorgrad fra Universitetet i Oxford, og har skrevet og redigert en rekke bøker og artikler om forholdet mellom kultur og politikk. Han har også fordypet seg i fenomenet religiøs fundamentalisme. Brekke er tilknyttet Senter for ekstremismeforskning (C-REX) ved UiO, og tankesmien Civita.
