In the eerie stillness of a moonlit Atlantic night in 1896, aboard the doomed Herbert Fuller, a savage cry pierced the darkness. What followed was a chilling discovery: The Captain, his wife, and the second mate lay brutally murdered in their blood-streaked cabins. Panic seized the crew as suspicions and paranoia grew, turning the once peaceful vessel into a floating nightmare, hundreds of miles from port. SOURCES Hiam, C. Guest, Stephen Murray, is the author of The Chapel of Eternal Love, Return to the Chapel of Eternal Love, Murder Aboard the Queen Elizabeth II, and Discreetly Yours. Stephen and Rebecca talk about how Las Vegas impacted his writing and also offer the audience a fresh perspective on pursuing their dream. In 2007, he started writing down the stories from his travels as a way to keep a record of all the places he'd visited and the people he'd met. He also spent two years capturing his experiences on paper. This process allowed him to discover a passion for writing, leading him to self-publish these four novels. Stephen has been able to use his experience, creativity, and passion to cover multiple genres – mainstream fiction, a cozy murder mystery, and crime fiction. The two also talk about he became skilled at writing for women. Stephen traveled many places, and his favorite place today is Las Vegas, Nevada. He said although it is known as the "Sin City" he said it's also the "Marriage City".For 39 years Stephen has owned a Computer Software Business and decided he wanted to start writing. He wanted to write about his travels however he was told that those biographies don't sell and that he had to write women's fiction, which he knew nothing about. He found the joy of writing so he took a stab at it and wrote his first one The Chapel of Eternal Love. He said it was a challenge that was not meant to be published. It was however and spawned a sequel.Stephen goes to speak to people in Senior's homes, which he explains that he spoke to the activities director and asked if she would like an author to speak to the residents. From there he continued to speak to many of them and they now have "meet the local authors" series, whereby Stephen finds local authors and schedules them to speak.Stephen also shared about different marketing techniques, which are very interesting.Thank you, Stephen, for this interesting and fun podcast! You can reach Stephen at the websites below: www.authorstephenmurray.comwww.thechapelofeternallove.comwww.murderaboardtheqe2.comwww.discreetlyyours.netwww.authorsden.com/stephenmurrayMore about Stephen:Stephen Murray was born in England and raised in different countries throughout Southern Africa. Stephen said that’s exactly what happened and explains how writing charted his life on a new course, an amazingly incredible journey. Since his computer work world afforded him the opportunity to travel as he began semi-retirement, he decided to write a book on his extensive worldwide travels. His ‘tome’ wasn’t published but the path took him down a road where he would self-publish three fictional novels – two aimed at the female reading audience. That’s often how life happens you have a goal, work towards it yet you veer of course onto a new amazing one. Living in Las Vegas, the marriage capital of the world, Stephen’s first published novel was titled ‘The Chapel of Eternal Love – Wedding Stories from Las Vegas’. With 50 plus wedding chapels in Las Vegas and a Wedding Chamber of Commerce collectively bringing in over 2 billions dollars per year to the marriage capital, yet Stephen did not interview anyone for these books. As a bachelor he used his imagination and what imagination! Not only did the novel win first prize in the mainstream fiction category in the Authors Talk About It book contest, it spawned a sequel, ‘Return to the Chapel of Eternal Love – Marriage Stories from Las Vegas’. The second novel revisits all the couples from the first novel five years later. For his third novel, Stephen attempted something different - a murder mystery, ‘Murder Aboard the Queen Elizabeth II’ released in 2017. Learn more at Stephen’s website: authorstephenmurray.com Stephen never dreamt he would pen novels for the female market – nor how writing charted a new life course. But that’s life!
