Thank you, Roy Miller, for representing LIFT Your Story with Rick Carson, Author of Taming Your Gremlin.  In this episode, we have created a dual partnership between LIFT Your Story and Bleep Bulimia.  Why?  It seemed seamless in the stories we wanted to share.I waited for some time to have Rick Carson on my Bleep Bulimia podcast.  So excited it came to fruition. So why not share Rick's wisdom with LIFT Your Story?  If you don't know who Rick Carson, Author of Taming Your Gremlin is?  GOOGLE IT!  Isn't that what our society has come to?  PLEASE do and you WILL FIND HIM.  Gold nuggets of wisdom.Truth is, I was a wimp at the start.  I sent Rick a note on a Youtube video he had way before I had a podcast with Roy, and Rick responded.  It was about his book.  He asked me to respond back.  I'm sorry.  An author that has sold so many copies, responded to my message?  YES, I was intimidated.  I was scared.  I remember someone asking me, and this was 9 years ago when that happened if I responded to his response.  I did not.  I felt inspired, super excited, and all at the same time intimidated and shy.  Those are easy and simple words to use as excuses, yet true.  If I had then responded to his response, what would come back?Fast forward.  2021.  We have a date!  And that date was delayed, however, this wonderful gentleman calls me.  Do we know the value of a voice seriously over an email or a text message?  I admired him all the more.  A voice on the phone from Texas.  Fun quick story.  That's how Roy and I connect best.  Even if I put him to sleep sometimes.  LOLThis episode is SPECIAL joining two Podcasts... and so too because it is.  Rick's message is for EVERYONE. Scott Burnside.  A high school friend of LaurieAnn, who used to tell her how much he loved to write.  It is no surprise he ended up as a reporter starting in Windsor and moving to the Toronto Sun, the Globe and Mail, and then ESPN.During his time at the Toronto Sun, Scott co-authored a book with Alan Cairns named Deadly Innocence, a book about the Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka murders.  Scott and Al worked as a team to cover the story, and they were approached by Warners Books to write a book about it.    Scott was also on a documentary on Discovery Plus that has just come out, and he says it was strange to go back 20 years ago.  Scott covered the story from 1992 to 1996 and said it's a "strange sensation" to go back and remember. When asked how it was psychologically to cover a story like that, Scott was very gracious in positioning himself as not being nearly as connected and involved as the victims, families,  police, and jury.  It changes people. Kevin always liked people.  Their stories.  Kevin was employed as a Media Director for an organization that took him all over the world.  His journey took him to Egypt and Iraq, Burma after the cyclone hit, and other regions of the world to help people in need.  Although fascinating and engaging others through stories, being a media "guy" was not something he wanted to do all his life.  He wanted to help others. The epiphany he had was moving into a role where he could do just that.  So he launched out to start a coaching business.  Kevin is so honest about self-consciousness, insecurities, and his empathy for people. What a great story of someone who jumped into a new life and let go of his "secure" position. Also interesting was Kevin's chat about his mentor Bob Proctor.  Our interview was only a couple of days before the world had to say goodbye to Bob Proctor.   Kevin is one of the very lucky ones who even had the chance to speak to him over the phone.  Imagine speaking to this wonderful mentor and even having his phone number!Kevin says that he set his goal.  And he succeeded, and he says it was very special. It's all about starting.  Have a vision.Kevin's honesty is wonderful and inspiring. You can reach him at https://www.mindsetmastery.lifeWhere you can create your own account for tips, tools, and techniques to master your mindset. More about Kevin:My background is in film production. After school, I worked for various ministry organizations and spend a large amount of time interviewing people all over the world. It motivated me to learn why people did what they did and what led to people living a life of fulfillment, happiness, and success. I spent the last 10 years studying the greats on personal development and success which ultimately lead me to a coaching program with Bob Proctor who is part of a legacy of leaders in this space of personal development, success, and mindset. After being coached by him I decided to become a consultant of the Proctor Gallagher Institute and have dedicated myself to helping people live a life of purpose, mastering their mindset and tapping into their full potential. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and enjoy taking the concepts of Universal Law and grounding them in the Word of God, which to me is the final say, the truth. I encourage people through teaching to build their faith to take action on their dreams.  Free Book with any $20+ Podcast Support Make Up Not Required - How to Brand the TRUE You by LaurieAnn & Contribution by Roy MillerBE A GUEST/FIND A GUEST Start for Free! We touched upon COVID, and Ralph did agree it had an effect on his business.  It didn't stop him from traveling, however, whenever he could.Be ready for a point and shoot mode, with all settings right for the condition.  Anticipate the decisive moment then point and shoot.  And remember "Life is too short not to travel."Thinking of getting away and want to really get an experience out of it?  Make sure you contact Ralph via email to ralph@PhotoEnrichment.com or at the links below:PhotoEnrichment AdventuresAlla Campagna ExperiencesThe Continental DRIFTER Free Book with any $20+ Podcast Support Make Up Not Required - How to Brand the TRUE You by LaurieAnn & Contribution by Roy MillerBE A GUEST/FIND A GUEST Start for Free! You never know where you are going to meet the next guest.  Karen and LaurieAnn met while joining a book exchange online.  We chatted a bit and was asked to come on to share her story.Karen resides in Ireland.  She starts off by explaining what NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is.   Although it's mainly about you speak, Karen focuses on how you speak to yourself.   What you witnessed in your first seven years creates your script for life (until you meet Karen, who helps you come up with a better script). She says children are great observers, but not great interpreters.  The majority of her clients are working mothers who have lost their sense of identity.   She will ask when was a time you laughed so hard... and to connect with that joy.Karen's wonderful sense of humor added to this great conversation.   More about Karen:Karen Molan is a Self-Development coach and leader. For over twenty years Karen has been helping people reclaim their joy in life, remove their self-imposed glass ceilings, and have wonderful meaningful connections.Karen runs an online course called Succeed. A planner thatincorporates monthly Self Care suggestions as well as organizational hints and tips.Combining a mix of modalities is what makes Karen's practice different. She believes there are no cookie-cutter people (except the ones she likes to eat) so then, there can be no cookie-cutter solutions for people. She takes a holistic approach with her clients.Karen is a Licenced Neuro-Linguistic Programming Consultant and Trainer; she incorporatesIndividual Psychology (Adlerian) with the NLP. It was challenging for Cynthia to come up with the title of her book.  It was through realizing that parents were looking to be an ally to their children rather than an advisory.  Before you can make a change you have to figure out if you see them as a source of the problem or can you find a solution together and be an ally.  Cynthia has been helping parents for 27 years and has been a speaker for over 600 events, mostly at schools.  Communication is important and does a parent know how to connect? We talk about social media and parents trying to get their teenagers to stop being on their phones, yet the parents are not simulating that.  "Everyone has to turn it in".We share about how we transfer our own frustration about ourselves onto our children and Cynthia speaks to the age of development of children and how we expect them to be adults, yet in reality, they aren't and we need to build compassion.  Parents have to look at what they think and do and how it impacts their children.Cynthia is an educator and helps the parents.  And only speaks to parents.  And they are the ones that need the change.  Our tendency as parents is to think the children need to change.  However, the parents need to change.  "What do I need to do different?"  And "IF" is a threat.  It's powerful when your language changes. This in itself is a powerful episode for parents.  A must listen to!!Here are some important links to how to reach Cynthia and her free gift."Enjoy my gift of - 8 Dos and Don'ts of Parenting" -https://ally-parenting.com/8doscynthia@bridges2understanding.comhttps://www.bridges2understanding.comBook link: https://bit.ly/Ally-Parenting     https://linkedin.com/in/cynthiajklein/More about Cynthia:Family Happiness Expert and Parenting Coach Cynthia Klein's passion is to create world peace by first creating peace within each family. Christian tells us about his book Awakening the Soul of Powers, the first of a series of three, the series being called "Calling All Heros".  He says we live in a time when we don't have horses or armor.  That it's all in our head.  During COVID, the definition of "hero" has changed.  Those people who put their bodies at risk to serve the rest of us.  What about the rest of us?  The first book is about personal empowerment.  It covers understanding who we are and what makes us do the things we do.As we get older we "flatten the buttons", and what used to bother us no longer does.    There's a softening that happens.  Christian speaks to forgiveness as well.  It's important to put "that question mark" and remove judgment of others' experiences in life.  Christian has done personal retreats for years and through the pandemic has created online programs.  He is also offering a year-long program to stretch out the teachings and deliver it in "bite sizes".  It also comes along with accountability.  Very enlightening episode. You can reach Christian at www.soulfulpower.com.  For those listening, you can get a sample chapter of his book, power practices and guided meditation.  You can find his book at any bookstore or on Amazon.More about Christian:With 30 years of experience, Christian de la Huerta is a sought-after spiritual teacher, personal transformation coach, and leading voice in the breathwork community. He has traveled the world offering inspiring and transformational retreats combining psychological and spiritual teachings with lasting and life-changing effects. An award-winning, critically acclaimed author, he has spoken at numerous universities and conferences and on the TEDx stage. What an amazing story, and beyond that inspirational!!Brenda Bourns lost her eye.  With this, her story tells about how she not only lost it, also how she dealt with this. She was walking her dog when it happened.  It was a journey she went through with courage and optimism and such a great force of strength. While many would make themselves a victim if this occurred, Brenda looked towards the positive.  She endearingly calls herself the "Accidental Pirate", or the "Pandemic Pirate".A must listen to!!You can reach Brenda at http://www.eventstrategypro.com/More about Brenda:My story is one of perseverance, strength, and bravery during a surreal pandemic when the world around us was already fragile and uncertain. On August 1st, 2020 while out walking my dog, I suffered a freak accident that resulted in the loss of my right eye. As a type 2 Diabetic, I went into shock (Diabetesketoacidosis) and found myself fading in and out of consciousness on my neighbour's front lawn.  Survival instinct as well as Mom's instinct kicked in. I knew my daughter would be coming home from a socially distanced bonfire within in the hour. There was no way I was having her find her mother, covered in blood with a dog attached by a leash 30 feet from our home. My dog saved my life by dragging me across my neighbour's lawn, my front lawn, and up the stairs and barking until my husband woke up.What followed was 23 hours of chaos including 4 trips to 2 different hospitals alone in ambulances, separated from family because of pandemic restrictions. One hospital dealt with the eye removal, the other dealt with the Diabetic shock. My journey takes the audience from the night of the injury to the journey to relearn new simple tasks, depth perception, peripheral vision to custom-made eye patches, and then being fitted for a prosthetic eye. This is a story of perseverance, strength, and a little bit of stubbornness thrown in for good measure.  Losing my right eye was a gift. The support of a community, combined with feelings of gratefulness for the simplest of things was the greatest lesson. Life is too short.  I am a Live Event Producer by profession but the pandemic has put my career on pause. I have enjoyed sharing my story during my healing. My name is Brenda...and I'm a new pirate. He started losing his vision to retinitis pigmentosa at an early age becoming legally blind by junior high school and totally blind by the time he graduated from college. He did graduate from traditional schools, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and worked in the family business until his dad's death forced the closure of their small show. Needing something new he started helping people sell surplus rides. He had to learn so much including how to hand-code HTML, recruit clients, set fees, build an email list, manage social media, and more. People were inspired by his willingness to take on difficult challenges and encouraged him to share more about being a blind entrepreneur. That led to a second site as the blind blogger, with three books out so far and a fourth due any time. LIFT Your Story with Cassie Christopher Registered Dietician

Cassie explains the difference between being a registered dietician and a nutritionist.  It is someone who has education and credentials in the area of nutrition and is able to provide medical nutritional medicine. The difference is anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, but a registered dietician does have those credentials.Cassie focuses on women 45 and up to deal with emotional eating.Although traditional registered dieticians may start with a medical history, Cassie looks more to the emotional reasons for their issues with food, and with problems of using food to numb or avoid feeling your feelings. She talks about self-talk, choices we make every day, and the circle of feeling good and then afterwards feeling bad.  She says the positive to that circle, or that loop is that there is multiple places to intervene.  The first place to start is why are you eating, and how you can feel those instead. She said the prevailing bad advice is "just don't do it".   Cassie said she struggled herself, and even with all the education she had on the subject, she still had to come to terms with feeling the emotion, and that is not an easy thing to do.  She said you don't just numb the bad feelings, you also numb the good ones too.  She also shares that stress is the biggest emotion that people try to numb, and that "stress" is the "bottom layer of the cheesecake".You can find Cassie at www.cassiechristopher.net.  And if you go to www.cassiechristopher.net/free, you can get a free step by step what it's going to get towards healing, which doesn't have a lot to do with food. The first question asked to Stephen was "what is a Pop Up Retail"?Stephen explains they have been around since the beginning of time and were previously known as markets and bazaars.  So they are short-term activities in parks and common areas.  Flea markets would also be considered as Pop-Up Retailing.Stephen explains they have become more sophisticated.Traditionally a Pop-Up Retailer was three to six months.    Now there are companies like Sook that create micro pop-ups, such as three to four hours. The success of modern-day retailing is about integrating technology with the core foundation of retailing which is customer service.  Not just good or okay customer service, you have to wow them.  Stephen also said that 78% of people still want to touch feel and engage with a product before they buy it and 64% will come back and seek out that sales associate for their authenticity and genuineness.Stephen also touches on pop-ups for fundraisers, and also for coaches! You can learn more about this through Stephen by reaching him at www.thepopupexpert.comMore about Stephen:For over 35 years Stephen Brooks has been immersed in all things retail. Great conversation with Paul.  He explains there were few voices of Dads.  In a complementary way to Moms.  His podcast led him to learn more.  The dads he interviews on his GreatDad.com are experts on specific issues.  He supported the roles of involved parenting.  Paul grew up in a single mom parenting and was inspired to be involved.  He explains that Pregnancy Parenting involves the "involved parenting" aspect. This subject is so all-encompassing.  And truly one that we could talk about for hours! As Paul says the younger generation seems more implicated in the pregnancy.  They are not as likely to be less empathetic and are more involved than the older generation.Paul started later in life.  He has two children and he was 38 when he had his first.  We spoke about how being older and having children does change perspective, and how, to Paul, it was important that he was present, and he even left his job to make that happen.  Paul said that he has been thinking a lot lately about the fact there is nobody else that will love your children in that same way that anybody else will.  (We agree).  Not their spouse, not their friends, and the responsibility to "not tell them lies" but to keep loving them and have patience with them and advise them in the most loving way.You can find Paul at www.greatdad.com and www.pregnancymagazine.comMore about Paul Banas:Paul Banas is the publisher of GreatDad.com and Pregnancy Magazine and its website PregnancyMagazine.com. After a career in advertising and international marketing at companies including Ogilvy & Mather, Unilever, Visa, and Yahoo, he quit his corporate job to stay at home with his small daughter and infant son. This experience led him to develop GreatDad.com, at the time one of the very few parenting resources specifically for fathers. After training at the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI) and Positive Intelligence, he also coaches dads and entrepreneurs. Paul firmly believes in the importance of involved parenting to create a new generation of happier and more empathetic children. Paul has lived in France at three different stages of his life as a student and as an executive. He and his family spend one month per year in Paris.Free Book with any $20+ Podcast Support Make Up Not Required - How to Brand the TRUE You by LaurieAnn & Contribution by Roy MillerBE A GUEST/FIND A GUEST Start for Free! LIFT Your Story with Anthony Rogers Comedian

We always love having Comedians on our show because we love to laugh. We ask about what kind of comedy Anthony does.   You have to listen to learn about that.  He does love all kinds of comedy!  We spoke about making fun of people and they enjoy it, and others take offence, and he does love George Carlin.   He called him a philosopher that dabbled in comedy.Anthony feels that comedy is being watered down and that there is nothing really new.So we asked - are you going to get all your friends that are funny and going out on the road as a group?  And he's thinking about it!  So be ready! :)What would be your theme?  Asked that, Anthony said it was a great question he didn't know how to answer.   He said they were all Republican Attention Whores.  LOL  So to soften the group name Roy comes up with "The Male Bonding Tour".    Sounds perfect.  Even if Roy thought LaurieAnn wouldn't be in approval? Sure.  Just don't diss the "ladies". :)And can a comedian be "sued" because of defamation of character?  LaurieAnn was told not to bring that up.   In case lawyers listen to this.  LOL.  However, apparently in Comedy, free speech still exists.  Or you are just censored. :)Is freedom of speech really still there?  Even Social Media stops it sometimes.  What are your thoughts? And Anthony is chasing Roy's wisdom. :)  What a wonderful guest. This was fun.  You can find Anthony by Googling him at Anthony Rogers or The Anthony Rogers Show. And here is his Podcast link.  The Anthony Rogers ShowFree Book with any $20+ Podcast Support Make Up Not Required - How to Brand the TRUE You by LaurieAnn & Contribution by Roy MillerBE A GUEST/FIND A GUEST Start for Free!
