Matthew 25:14-20
Have you been taught that the parable of the talents is about human works and/or gifts and rewards? It's not. In this video, I will show you that the ‘talents' are symbolic of the gospel, and what we do with it. Specifically, believing it and sharing it.Learn More at https://jesuswithoutreligion.com/parable-of-the-talents-explained/

Are we like the wicked and lazy servant or are we like Jesus? In part two of this series of The Parable of Talents, Rylee and Christian come together again to dig into the third servant who buried his money and did nothing with what God entrusted to him. They discuss how as Christians, we can relate to this servant in our own lives, if we have the humility to admit that we are just like him. Sure, there are times when we're faithful, but oftentimes we live in fear, not trusting God and we question him, and then we think it's unfair when others around us are getting more. We have so much opportunity, so much ability, and we're so afraid to step into our purpose and calling. It's simple: God gives us seed, and we have to sow that in order to produce harvest. God put us all here for a reason and the world needs each one of us! In this episode, you will learn: (4:28) What This Playbook of Life Serves As (5:10) How We Are Like the Wicked and Lazy Servant (7:26) Why Amounts Are Irrelevant When It Comes to Our Ability (9:23) Where Seeds Are Planted In Life (13:30) Due to technical difficulties, this episode is shorter than intended. In this two-part series, Rylee and Christian discuss The Parable of the Talents. They also share why you gain more when you prove yourself, why money is only as valuable as we make it and why you're a manager of what you receive from God, not the owner. God has entrusted us with a lot, but he expects us to add value to whatever we have. Once we prove ourselves, we gain more, but we have to keep in mind what we've learned; money is a tool, and it's only as valuable as we make it, for if we don't manage it well, it is not ours to keep. Whatever we don't manage well, we will lose. In this episode, we explore 3 parables about being ready for the Lord's return.
Jesus was shedding light on the truth He had taught his disciples. He did so by expressing parables to provide understanding and help the disciples remember the lessons he wanted to live by. Today, pastor Steven teaches us to work without excuses for the good of the kingdom.

For nearly the last year we have been listening each week to Matthew' s Jesus story, where he states his understanding of who Jesus is- How Jesus reveals nature of God- What reign God- kingdom of heaven looks like- taught by Jesus in sermon of Mount and particularly Beatitudes- lived and teased out – rest of gospelJohn asks in light of that how do we read the parable of the talents we heard this morning? Then we explore three ways of reading the parable of the Talents. Rather than picking the right interpretation, how do these three ways of reading this parable deepen your understanding of it, and how does that help you hear what it might mean for your life today? The notes for this sermon can be found here

The parable speaks of a nobleman going away ro receive a kingdom. His servants were expected to occupy themselves profitably until he returned. What does this parable teach us of how we should be living until the Lord returns with His kingdom?

One of the most popular parables told by the Lord Jesus Christ is known as the 'Parable of the Talents' where a nobleman goes on a journey to a far country to receive a kingdom, leaving his servants with different amounts of money to use while he was gone. There is an interesting detail that Jesus mentioned in this story - the citizens of the country REJECTED the nobleman saying, "We will not have this man to reign over us." Why did Jesus mention this point? Well, you know, that is exactly what people were saying about HIM! Many did not want Him to rule as a king over them. Is it any different today? Is it any different for YOU?

God gave us unique gifts according to our capacity and capability. The question now: What are you doing with the opportunities that God has allowed to come your way?
The Apostle John tells us that Jesus tells parables so that only people who are listening with spiritual ears will hear what he's trying to say. They are breadcrumbs that lead us into a spiritual, into a theological, into a Jesus, and into a God truth. Pastor Dan Cale follows the breadcrumbs in the Parable of Talents. When Jesus taught, he spoke in illustrative passages that set the tone for a message that was directed at people who would put the effort in to decipher and look at themselves deeply to see how it applies to them. Listen as Mike Woodruff talks about how Jesus taught us to look at ourselves and not waste the talents that He has given you. So...look deeply at yourself...are you using your God given talents to please the Lord?
