This week, we read some listener comments and Brian tells us about his favorite new unitasker: a pineapple corer and we rehash Frank's Vermonster challenge and we read Brian's latest script "This Is The End," which he wrote for Cody (who we also owe some stickers). Then we talk about chick flicks and how "Tombstone" isn't good at all. Then Cory explains that he finds exciting TV shows to be boring. Epic Games just turned being lazy and taking a break into one of the most genius marketing campaigns ever! Over the weekend, Season 10 of Fortnite came to a close. And ended with a huge galactic explosion! ...as an in-game event. Epic broke the fourth wall and brought the virtual world into reality by literally shutting down the servers and telling everyone: "This is The End. Thank you for playing." For a few days, no one could login and the website just had the thank you note on it. The End of course was the name of the season and quite cleverly they made it seem like the game was actually coming to an end...forever. It didn't, obviously. They have since then launched a brand new CHAPTER (2) and season, with a whole new world, shinning shimmering, spendid with over 13 new levels complete water mechinics including swimming and motor-boating. Now that's what I'm talking about! Time for some Lazy Island adventures on Fortnite! But anyway, these guys just wanted to take a few days off. Drink some beer, eat some pizza in the office, whatever. And they used their down time to build brand awareness! "We're done. It's over. THIS IS THE END" That is how it's done, folks! That is seriously some EPIC levels of Lazy genius right there. Hundreds of thousands of people tuned into their live stream. And what did they show? A looping gif of a black hole swirling. That's it. No announcements. No Behind the Scenes shit. Nothing. But they got people's attention. (A large audience of people I might add) ..and that's what matters! Attention ain't cheap. Look at the price of thirty seconds in the Super Bowl. That's millions of dollars! They got attention on a ZERO dollar budget though. People talked about Fortnite. Even non-gamers! When you get people talking about your brand, the marketing does itself. No work or money necessary. So they sat back and relaxed, waited a bit, until people came running back, ready to give them $8 million a day again. Now you may not be making anywhere close to that figure, but the take away here is to use curiosity, intrigue, and a bit of controversy to get people talking then let the marketing take care of itself. ...as you lay on down on your nice cozy couch.

Growing up in a Harlem tenement perched above a record store, the Anel Sisters spent their Saturday “cleaning days” listening to albums and 45's bought from their chore allowance. Barbara and Lili developed an early love of music from their mother, who exposed them to eclectic playlists' ranging from Afro-Cuban jazz, Sarah Vaughn, Tchaikovsky, to Dizzy Gillespie. A trip to see “The Sound of Music”, inspired Barbara to transpose music from the film on the piano. The twins were encouraged by their grandparents to follow their own artistic paths, Barbara was gifted her first piano, from her grandmother. Lili's grandfather gave her a white toy guitar; dressed to the nines he with would sneak into Mass to hear her sing in choir, a voice he could hear above the others. The sisters took divergent paths. After studying at the Eddie Simon Guitar school and the Shelia Jordan workshop, Lili jumped headfirst into the Greenwich Village music scene and went on to record the first of her nine albums. Barbara graduated with honors from C.C.N.Y with a degree in music and , after seeing the devastating realities from her sisters struggles in the music industry, she chose a career in law enforcement allowing her to compose and create music on her own terms. Join these master composers, songwriters, and performers as they share their lives, adversities, and challenges overcome, with heart, laughter, and graceful honesty. It is my pleasure to welcome Barbara and Lili Anel to this episode of Intrinsic Drive ® .Lili has recorded eight albums including, “Laughed Last”, “High-Octane Coffee”, “Dream Again”, “Every Second in Between”, “I Can See Bliss From Here”, “Another Place, Another Time”, “Better Days”, and “Better Days Remastered”. She co-wrote the song “Lovers Leap” for the upcoming play “Folk City: The Musical.” Her song “Dream Again” was featured in “The Center of Distance”, Rock Wilk's independent film which won the 2022 Venice Film Festival. In addition to headlining US tours, she has performed alongside music legends B.B King, Cassandra Wilson, Michael Franks, Boz Scaggs, Richie Havens, and Robert Cray to name a few. For videos and upcoming shows visit www.lilianel.org . Barbara composed and collaborated with her sister on various songs including, “The Wrong Time”, and “Another Place, Another Time”, which appeared on the “Better Days Remastered” album. Morris From America is a 2016 coming-of-age comedy starring Markees Christmas and Craig Robinson (The Office, This Is The End) about an African-American father and son living in a small town in Germany, while the father coaches soccer. Morris deals with being a fish out of water by holding onto his American roots as an avid hip-hop lover, but it isn't before long that he meets a teenage girl named Katrin who pushes him out of his shell. Although the film wasn't commercially successful, it screened at Sundance Film Festival winning a special jury prize, and garnered much critical praise following its release. These A24 fans bring along guest Christopher Para to discuss the comedic and dramatic beats of the movie, while also discussing their own unique stories of partying in strange places inspired by a scene from the film. This episode is a brief pause in season seven of the podcast to share something that I published to Troutbitten in the early years. The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of emotion and activity. The days were filled with energy and adrenaline, as my youngest son's Little League baseball team won the league championship. They battled through two weeks of playoffs and took the title in the last series, where every game was decided in the final inning.I've coached Little League for nine years, and this was my last. My youngest son is twelve, and this was his senior year of Little League. To see it all end in such dramatic fashion was a gift. But the biggest emotions, from caring about something so deeply, are always a gift, whether that's in victory or defeat, love or loss. When the Knights were on the edge of winning or losing the championship series, the day before the final game, I kept thinking about an experience I had with one of the largest trout I've ever lost. Years ago, I wrote that into a story on Troutbitten. This episode is a l reading of a story that I first published on July 15, 2015, titled, This Is The End.It's also a little about baseball.ResourcesREAD: Troutbitten | This Is The EndREAD: Troutbitten | Some Days Are Diamonds, Some Days Are RocksREAD: Troutbitten | Category | StoriesVisitTroutbitten WebsiteTroutbitten InstagramTroutbitten YouTubeTroutbitten FacebookThank You to Pre-Roll Ad Sponsors:OrvisandFulling Mill

We had the pleasure of interviewing Baby Fisher over Zoom video!Emerging artist Baby Fisher's debut single “This Is The End” is out today alongside the official music video! https://babyfisher.lnk.to/ThisIsTheEnd The 17 year old, multi-talented singer songwriter is taking TikTok (and soon to be the world) by storm - his talent is undeniable and he's got an incredible personality and we're so excited he's sharing his talents with the world! "This is the End is a song I wrote at 14 and recorded at 15. It's a song about how much I despised the fleeting effects of my childhood leaving. It is the end of my childhood. This is the End.” - Baby Fisher ABOUT BABY FISHER Hi, I'm Sam Fisher aka Baby Fisher, born July 25, 2005. I grew up in the valley (Van Nuys, CA) listening to Bruce Springsteen, whiny voice singers of the 90s and rap music. Moved to Burbank at the age of 10 and was possibly the LEAST cool kid in both elementary and middle school. At 12 I started playing guitar, about 4 months in of playing I started gigging regularly at blues bars with studio musicians from the 60s/70s who worked with Elvis, Etta James, etc. All my love goes out to them, if it wasn't for them, I'd still be day dreaming about being a musician. I dove headfirst into the high school dumpster fire at 14 while simultaneously spending all my time making music, reading, sewing my own clothes or hanging out with kids that were way too old for me and doing exactly what they shouldn't. I was the youngest so they called me Baby (hence Baby Fisher). I found myself sprinting into bum territory and instantly turned in the right direction. I fell in love with Bukowski and a good view point, driving at 2 am and too many women who were far too pretty for me. These loves quickly turned into song inspiration. Y'know I once wrote to my favorite author at age 10 and he wrote back. He told me a very simple thing that really stuck with me; “there's no magic in books, they're just words strung one after another, the magic happens in the readers head. All you've got to do is learn to get the order right.” The same applies to these songs. All they are is silly little documentations of my life. There's nothing spectacular or fantastic or whatnot. All the magic comes from you. It's already there, the music is just what brings it out. There's no me without you. We want to hear from you! Hello!Matt talks to Alex about his musical background, and delves deep into the history of the band he plays bass with, The MltysFeatures the songs "Mind Whispers" and "This Is The End"
Lo Graham, a Lafayette native making her mark in the film and television industry, joins Discover Lafayette to discuss her starring role in Unhuman, a Blumhouse Productions horror movie, premiering digitally on June 3, 2022. You can rent the movie anywhere you get your streaming services. Unhuman follows a group of high school students whose school bus crashes on a field trip. The press release states, "Relationships are tested once they realize they are being stalked by an attacker who intends to drive them out and straight into a horrifying fight to survive." The movie was filmed in New Orleans in the heat of the summer last year. While most of the actors were from LA, the majority of the crew supporting the movie were talented professionals from the New Orleans area. As part of an ensemble cast of young actors, Lo comes face to face with evil in this roller-coaster romp. Lo says "It's like the Breakfast Club meets the Walking Dead," with the typical stereotypes found in horror movies, and she plays the mean, popular girl. "Lots of comedy and action. It was so much fun making this teen movie with a twist of horror that Blumhouse does best." While Lo has found a niche as a “scream queen” character since her earliest role in Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, she embraces her love of acting and is ready to branch out into a wider variety of roles. Lo Graham has also made her mark on television with roles in CBS's NCIS: New Orleans, Fox's Scream Queens, a recurring role on Fox's primetime series Filthy Rich, and in the Columbia Pictures film, This Is The End. She has worked with stars such as Kim Cattrall, Juliette Lewis, and Seth Rogan. Lo Graham with Juliette Lewis(left) and Kim Cattrall (right) of the Fox Series Filthy Rich. Lo is a graduate of Lafayette's Ascension Episcopal School and LSU's Manship School of Mass Communications in Broadcast Journalism. She first began modeling and pursuing acting roles through Images Model & Talent Agency as a young teen and fell in love with it. She recounted that her first speaking roles came about in Sci-Fi movies while filming in Lafayette with Ken Badish's Active Entertainment who helped her get her start in the industry. Louisiana is a great draw for filmmakers. Lo has been fortunate to be able to balance her work between Los Angeles and Louisiana. Louisiana lures many productions due to our generous film industry tax credits. "People love to film horror sci-fi in Louisiana because of the landscape here. In New Orleans and surrounding areas, we have so many spooky, historical elements." As an example, right before we filmed this interview, Curmudgeon Films, led by Griff Furst, filmed a Morgan Freeman movie entitled 57 Seconds here in Lafayette. Acting coaches have taught Lo to get in tune with the "child-like" version of herself with an active imagination. This is a critical skill in today's modern film industry which operates virtually until filming begins. "Whenever I'm acting, I've learned to put myself aside and play. Be that character and think like that character. Especially in auditions. Today, auditions are all self-taped and happen at your house. People used to go into an office to audition for a casting director. Now people tape themselves with a reader off-camera giving you their lines; you record yourself and send it off." While she was auditioning for Unhuman, Lo said she had to imagine the plot of the whole movie as she was initially taping her audition so that she could get in character to scream realistically. While the initial phase of earning parts has changed, the industry is so virtual today that actors can live literally anywhere and just send in audition tapes for a role. This has made the industry more inclusive for a wider range of actors. "It's so important to take care of yourself while filming given the crazy hours. When I would get home from filming,
THIS IS THE END! Of Series 1 of our show. Well it's the first part of the end. In this episode we talk to Russ Rankin from Good Riddance, Only Crime and his solo work. Russ Rankin released a Solo Album at the end of January 2022. We chat about that, how SBAM records is still a most amazing album, recording at Blasting Room like a lot, touring, Spanish, Japan and proper tour busses! Good Riddance is now hitting the road at the end of this week and going to Pouzzafest in Montreal QC. Interestingly enough Part 2 of the finale features another band on this tour which also is being supported by War on Women (Check out our Sue Werner Episode)! That's three, THREE amazing guests getting together and finally doing what we all collectively love so much, Hitting the road!! Enjoy! -Neal Without a doubt, Russ Rankin has been one of the most influential frontmen in punk for the last 30 years. With Good Riddance and numerous other projects, he has contributed to the agenda for the punk scene worldwide. On his solo records, Rankin continues to refine his songwriting, delving into social and political topics, as well as the melancholy underpinnings of personal love and loss. With the deftness of experience and unflinching honesty, his songs seek to understand and embrace the inner turmoil of the human condition – with a fervent desire to champion the best in us. His brusque delivery, instantly recognizable by now, serves as a catalyst in advocating for social justice and animal rights, reaching far beyond the borders of the punk scene. The first single Babel from Come Together Fall Apart is based on the story of the Tower of Babel, speaks to the time when humanity had one, common, tongue, which then, due to rancor and mistrust, splintered into a hundred different languages. This event foretold centuries of war and turmoil across the world, all born from a fundamental inability to communicate.'SBÄM Records (EU), Cursed Blessings Records (CAN) and Say-10 Records (USA)'.For more information or to book an interview please contact Melanie at info@melaniekayepr.com

2021 was a big year for the podcast as we were able to put together 30 episodes. If you are a HDWGH listener you know that every episode comes with a treat at the beginning. So as a treat to the listeners we are putting all of the openers that we created in 2021 into one episode. If you are new to the show then you must be wonder what an opener is. Well an Opener, to us, is a skit from a movie or television show that we find to be funny. If we can, we use one that references the topic of the given episode; unfortunately we can't always do that.
