This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 Meditate means to muse, talk about, consider, meditate, sigh, sing. Our words have power (the power of life and death are in the tongue), but God‘s Word isn‘t just powerful, it‘s anointed. What if instead of speaking what we think about ourselves, we spoke God‘s Word over ourselves instead as a form of meditation? What if we personalized and prayed scripture as a form of daily meditation? Well, as God told Joshua, I believe that THEN you will make your way prosperous and THEN you shall have good success.

What if I told you fasting is more than just abstinence from food, but a powerful tool for kindling zeal and breaking free from the chains of persecution. It's Day 12 of our 21 day fast. Today, we're going to talk about Fasting For Zeal and Deliverance From Persecution. We'll look at a couple of accounts of fasting from the Psalms. DISCLAIMERS: Remember, fasting does not move God. Fasting moves us. It puts us in a position to receive from God.   I am not a medical professional, and nothing in this podcast should be taken as medical advice.  Please fast responsibly. If you have any underlying health issues or unhealthy relationship with food, do not fast. And if you are going on an extended fast, it's a good idea to check with your doctor first. Father God,  In the quiet of this moment, we come before You, seeking the grace to embrace both the wisdom of the Old Covenant and the transformative love of the New. Like David, we acknowledge that vengeance belongs to You alone. And we take it a step further, taking to heart the somewhat radical teachings of Jesus under the New Covenant. He taught us to love our enemies, to bless those who curse us, and to pray for those who mistreat us. In this spirit, we lift up our hearts and voices in prayer, not only for ourselves but for those who oppose us. Father, give us the strength to pray for our enemies, for in doing so, we unleash the power of Your love and forgiveness, not just in their lives but just as profoundly in ours. Help us to see them through Your eyes – as precious creations, worthy of Your sacrifice, and deserving of our prayers. As Jesus and Stephen modeled ultimate forgiveness even in their final moments, empower us to extend the same grace to those who hurt or betray us. Our prayers for them reveal Your boundless mercy and are a step towards healing our own hearts. We seek to develop a spirit of zeal, not borne of anger or malice, but kindled by Your love and guided by Your wisdom. In praying for our enemies, let us find deliverance from the burdens of bitterness and the shackles of shame, as we transcend our fleshly instincts and embrace unconditional love and forgiveness. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen ----- Thank you for joining me on Meditating The Word today. This is Cheree, reminding you that you are in my prayers. If you have any underlying health issues or unhealthy relationship with food, do not fast. And if you are going on an extended fast, it's a good idea to check with your doctor first.   Father God,    As we continue to fast and pray, we turn our hearts towards You, seeking the grace to embrace what seems beyond our human capacity – to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Your Word tells us to bless those who curse us, and pray for those who mistreat us.   We acknowledge that this can be an inward struggle. Our flesh recoils from this instruction. Yet, in this act of fasting, we seek to bring our flesh under the dominion of our spirit, aligning our will with Yours. As we bring our physical bodies under subjection, we surrender ourselves to You, seeking guidance and strength.   Your Word promises that when our ways please You, You make even our enemies be at peace with us. This profound promise guides us now, as we lift up those who have wronged us, not in a spirit of resentment, but with a desire for reconciliation and peace.   Especially for those among us grappling with the heavy chains of unforgiveness, let this time of prayer and fasting be a transformative journey. May it be the key that unlocks the door to healing and liberation from bitterness. Open our hearts, Father, to forgive as we have been forgiven, to love as we are loved by You, and to receive the full measure of Your blessings in our lives.   We pray not only for our spiritual growth but also for the well-being of those who appear to be adversaries in our journey. May they, too, find Your peace and love in their lives. Help us to see them through Your eyes, as fellow children in need of Your grace.   We submit ourselves Your will, trusting in Your unfailing love and mercy. Thank You, Father.   Amen   -----   Thank you for joining me on Meditating The Word today. This is Cheree, reminding you that you are in my prayers. I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.    Until next time, be blessed and be a blessing.   ----   Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/richard-bodgers/earth-in-bloom License code: PKB2GOTPFQSZZFD7   Music from Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/sonder-house/dreaming-elliott-jacques License code: 5HBP1CI7GED7IEQD   Back Roller mentioned: https://amzn.to/3O9XWEJ #commissionsearned  Fasting Resource: Fasting: Opening the Door to a Deeper, More Intimate, More Powerful Relationship With God by Jentezen Franklin -- https://amzn.to/4b2vUVq - #CommissionsEarned OR, listen to the audiobook free: https://amzn.to/4b4216Y - #CommissionsEarned   #meditatingtheword #podcast #fasting #fastingandprayer #forgiveness #blessandcursenot #prayforenemies

If you have any underlying health issues or unhealthy relationship with food, do not fast. And if you are going on an extended fast, it's a good idea to check with your doctor first. Father God,  We come before You, seeking the true essence of fasting that pleases Your heart. Teach us to fast not merely in form, but in spirit and in truth. Give us the grace to understand that true fasting goes beyond abstaining from food and drink; it is a surrender of our entire being to Your will. May our fast be a time of genuine self-denial, where we lay aside not only our physical cravings but also our selfish desires and ambitions. Father, help us to develop a spirit of compassion and justice, as we fast. Let our abstinence be coupled with a deeper commitment to acts of love—feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and clothing the naked. Help us to break the chains of injustice and to lift the burdens of those who are oppressed. In our fasting, let us not be consumed by strife and conflict, but be peacemakers and carriers of Your divine love, bringing reconciliation, healing, and peace in our communities, our homes and in our hearts. May our sacrifice be acceptable in Your sight, and may our prayers ascend to You like incense. We pray for the strength to honor You not just in our fasting but in every aspect of our lives. May our actions reflect Your love and mercy, and may our lives be a testament to Your unfailing grace. In this period of fasting, renew us. Let Your light break forth in our lives like the dawn, and Your guidance lead us on the path of righteousness. May our fasting be a journey towards a deeper, more meaningful relationship with You. We thank You, Father, for the promises of restoration and joy in obedience. As we commit ourselves to this fast, may we find our delight in You and experience the fullness of Your blessings. Transformation Through Spiritual Fasting

What did Jesus mean when he said "This kind only comes out with prayer and fasting"? This is Cheree We're going to talk about that and more on today's episode of Meditating The Word.   Different types of fasts: • Normal Fast – No food, water only. • Absolute Fast – Absolutely no food or water (Caution: Should not be undertaken over 3 days and only then if you have a clear directive from the Lord and are in good health). • Partial Fast – This could mean fasting certain meals of the day or abstaining from certain kinds of foods (i.e.: No meat or sweets, soup only, fruit and vegetables only, etc.). • Juice Fast – Fruit and vegetable juices only. How to fast: Start by setting your intention. Why are you fasting? Are you looking for direction? healing? restoration? Are you having financial difficulties? Start by writing down what you are fasting for.   Why fast: One of the most important things about fasting is this: You aren't fasting to move God. We don't fast to make God do something for us. We don't fast to "earn" something from God.  Fasting is more about putting ourselves in a position to receive.  If you have questions or comments, let me know. Over the next few weeks, we are going to look at examples of fasting in Scripture. Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline and it comes with incredible benefits.  Now, for disclaimers and warnings...  Fasting may not be appropriate for everyone. And, there are side effects you need to be aware of. If you have diabetes or underlying health conditions, consult your doctor before fasting, especially for extended periods. Older adults, adolescents, underweight individuals, and those undergoing cancer treatment should also seek medical advice before fasting. If you decide to try fasting, stay well-hydrated and consume nutrient-dense foods during your eating periods to maximize potential benefits. Avoid fasting if you have a history of eating disorders or an unhealthy relationship with food.  Remember, fasting can be a powerful spiritual and health practice, but it should be approached with caution and wisdom. Thank you for joining me on Meditating The Word today. This is Cheree, reminding you that you are in my prayers. We are reading Hebrews 11-13 ---- Father God, reading about those who led the way in the faith walk, we are encouraged. It isn't perfection you seek. We have read about the lives of all of these great men and women of God, and not one of them was perfect. Each of them were flawed and missed the mark. But they loved You and had faith in Your Word and Your promises. You framed the universe and all that is with Your Word, and You created us in Your image expecting us to also understand and use the power of our words. We seek, above all, to please You, Father. And Your Word is clear that the only way we can please You is through faith. We know that faith is the very substance, the title deed, the assurance of the things we hope for. So we ask today, Father, that You strengthen our faith, whether it takes 25 years to see Your Word fulfilled in our lives, or even if, as the prophets of old, we don't see the fulfilment in our lifetime, we will stand firm in faith, believing. Open our hearts to revere our elders, even though that doesn't seem to be the custom in this current age and culture. It was never Your plan that people rely on the government to care for them in their later years, but that family would take care of their own, and where family wasn't available, the church would care for them. Bring us back to Your values and away from the selfish values of the world. May love be what drives us, and not a desire for wordly riches. May we learn to be content.
