But Nadal said his painful left foot was numbed by multiple injections to two nerves during the tournament. He admitted after the final that at any other tournament, he wouldn’t have continued playing under extreme physical conditions. Seriously, what is going on here? Film fan and scholar Spencer Myers joins John, Erika, Jesse, and Mike to discuss his recommendation, the Oscar-nominated A Serious Man, streaming on Netflix. You might feel a camaraderie with protagonist Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlberg) as lots of horrible stuff is happening to him and he isn’t doing much about it. Sound familiar lately? John makes a case that we are living in Blade Runner 2020 and is reaching out to Lil Miquela’s agent for his next movie. Comic books—they’re not just for nerds & geeks anymore. In fact, graphic novels have been adapted into some of the highest grossing movies of all time. But there are decades of illustrated stories ready for reading, so where does one start? Well, Baconsale has brought on a special guest, Spencer Myers, to help us understand the history of comics and give some recommendations, too. Spencer & Kent geek out, Joel tries to relate while getting them to explain stuff, and Jacob tries to stay awake. Press play and then put this episode in a protective sleeve to keep it in mint condition.

After a tough week for his family, we're happy to have “The Main Event” back for this week's episode-even if it's only for awhile. AJ joins us in Segment 1 to discuss the biggest goings on in the WWE, including the incredible return of Dr. Shelby after his appearance on last week's show. Did we have any idea it was happening? Do we know what's next for him? We also jumped into Roman Reigns/Bobby Lashley-should it be to determine the #1 contender for SummerSlam? Plus we updated the “who had the best match on RAW?” standings, discussed why it's totally cool that Daniel Bryan is being used the way he is and much more. In Segment 2 (28:01), the guys are joined by fellow former Terp Spencer Myers. The former All-American wrestler and Maryland football player checks in to discuss participating in the recent WWE tryout in Orlando. What's a WWE tryout like? Will he pursue pro wrestling if he doesn't end up in WWE? And does he have any good stories about hanging out with AJ in college that he can tell us? After that, we discussed the UK Championship Tournament (we held off last week to make sure everyone had seen it). What exactly is NXT UK going to be? And Glenn and Aaron were at Ring Of Honor's “Best In The World” event at UMBC this weekend. It was tremendous. Are they surprised by the new Ring Of Honor champion? Are they surprised about how it happened? And in Segment 3 (1:03:43), the incredible Juice Robinson joins the show. We talked about red, white & blue sparklers coming out of nipples, bald eagles coming out of asses, Kevin Owens calling him the “Best Promo in Wrestling” and Saturday night's New Japan G1 Special in San Francisco on AXSTV. To wrap the show, the Quick Count touched on the rest of the NJPW card, some trouble for Bray Wyatt, a misstep for Kenny Omega-and does he want to come to WWE? Then we wrapped by discussing the new season of GLOW on Netflix.
On Episode 10 of the Maryland Mat Chat, head wrestling coach Kerry McCoy talks about three wrestlers who finished their seasons at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis. Geoffrey Alexander, Lou Mascola and Spencer Myers all competed at the 2015 NCAA Division I Championships. Mascola went 2-2, knocking off No. 5 Cody Pack of South Dakota State along the way, while Myers picked up the first round's biggest win, a win over No. 3 Bobby Telford of Iowa. Coach McCoy talks about each wrestler's performance, a look towards freestyle and Greco-Roman in the offseason and some happenings with post-season awards and alumni functions. We also point out Mike Catullo had a very bad mustache at NCAA's. On Episode 9 of the Maryland Mat Chat, head wrestling coach Kerry McCoy talks about three wrestlers who have qualified for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis. On Episode 7 of the Maryland Mat Chat, we visit with 2011 All-American Spencer Myers, a two-sport athlete at the University of Maryland. Myers became the first true freshman in Maryland wrestling history to earn All-American honors back in 2011 at 285 pounds. Since, Myers has redshirted and made two more trips to the national championships. This season, Myers changed things up a bit, opting to play football for the Terps during the fall and joining the wrestling program for his senior season at mid-year. Myers talks about the training and the competitive balance between the two sports and why he jumped finally decided to take the leap on to the gridiron. Myers is looking to try to play football after his wrestling career is over, and if that doesn't work out, you might see him in that other realm of wrestling, in the WWE. Keep an eye on www.marylandmatchat.com for updates and various formats of how you can listen to the show and subscribe via iTunes, Stitcher, Spreaker and TuneIn.
