Then we throw in some hockey and NBA playoffs as well. Maybe this episode isn't so grindy after all.

Khristina is fresh off a historic Final Four weekend in Tampa, and this week, she’s joined by sports writer, podcast producer, and Women’s Hoop Show host Jordan Robinson for a jam-packed episode that covers everything from championship breakdowns to game-changing headlines in women’s basketball. Jordan shares her personal journey in the game, how she became a storyteller for women’s sports, and details her upcoming book that explores the rich (and often overlooked) history of women’s basketball—from the 1800s to today. The two dive into the legacy of the WBL, the lack of proper archives in women’s sports, and why preserving these stories is essential. They also break down UConn’s dominant championship win, how South Carolina fell short, and what’s next for both programs. Plus, they react to Olivia Miles' surprise transfer to TCU, Elena Delle Donne’s retirement, the Hall of Fame class of 2024, and the last-minute addition of Candace Parker’s jersey retirement game to national TV. Plus, with the WNBA Draft just days away, Khristina and Jordan discuss top prospects, team needs, international sleepers, and why players should prioritize fit and opportunity over flash. Jace Peterson bunted pinch-runner Tyler Wade to third to start the 10th. Tyler Horton (0-1) struck out Shea Langeliers for the second out before Noda slapped a single to left — one of just two hits for Oakland in the game — to break the scoreless struggle. Shintaro Fujinami (5-7) got the win after striking out the side in the ninth. Trevor May pitched a scoreless 10th for his sixth save. Cubs 7, Brewers 6 – F/11 – Happ saves Cubs with 2 late throws to plate in wild 7-6 win over Brewers in 11 Left fielder Ian Happ threw out two runners at the plate in extra innings, and the Chicago Cubs pulled out a wild 7-6 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in 11 innings after squandering a late lead for the second consecutive game. Dansby Swanson homered and Miguel Amaya hit a two-run double to help the Cubs build a 6-2 cushion. But the Brewers scored twice in the eighth and twice more in the ninth to tie it. Happ cut down the potential winning run at home in the bottom of the 10th, and Chicago went ahead in the 11th when Cody Bellinger scored on Nico Hoerner’s infield single. Happ then threw out Owen Miller at the plate to end the game. Blue Jays 4, White Sox 3 – Guerrero Jr. hits 2-run homer in 8th inning to lift Blue Jays to 4-3 win over White Sox Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 4-3. Guerrero gave Toronto a 4-3 lead when he connected against Joe Kelly (1-4) after Brandon Belt led off the eighth with a walk. The three-time All-Star went the opposite way on a 2-1 pitch, driving it out to right for his 13th home run. All-Star Whit Merrifield had two hits and two RBIs, and the Blue Jays got back to winning coming off a three-game sweep by Boston. White Sox All-Star Luis Robert Jr. made it 3-2 in the sixth with a long three-run drive against Chris Bassitt for his 25th homer. But Chicago lost again after dropping two of three at struggling Oakland. The Cubs blew a late four-run lead but rebounded to beat the Brewers 7-6 in 11 innings. Ross praised his team’s resiliency, but many of his postgame comments focused on a series of “frustrating” calls and events throughout the game. Ross was perturbed that plate umpire Erich Bacchus prematurely called out Dansby Swanson when there were only two strikes, and he felt a Brewers baserunner interfered with a throw that allowed a run to score. Ross and first base coach Mike Napoli were both ejected. Ross also questioned why the Brewers closed their retractable roof on a mostly sunny afternoon. MLB – Ohtani leaves Angels game with blister, says he doesn’t plan to pitch in ASG Shohei Ohtani says he’s not planning to pitch in the All-Star Game next week after leaving the Los Angeles Angels’ 8-5 loss to the San Diego Padres with a blister on the middle finger of his right hand Tuesday. The two-way superstar could still play a significant role if he remains the starting designated hitter for the American League in Seattle. Ohtani exited on the mound against the Padres after giving up consecutive home runs in the sixth inning. The right-hander’s start had been pushed back a day due to a cracked fingernail. His velocity was down, and he left trailing 5-1. His exit came several hours after the Angels learned they’ll be without fellow All-Star slugger Mike Trout for several weeks because of a broken left wrist.  Trout will need surgery to repair his injury. MLB – Major League Baseball Last Night Oakland A’s 1, Detroit Tigers 0 – 10 Innings Chicago Cubs 7, Milwaukee Brewers 6 – 11 Innings Toronto Blue Jays 4, Chicago White Sox 3 Athletics 1, Tigers 0 – F/10 – Noda’s RBI single in the 10th carries the Athletics to a 1-0 win over the Tigers Ryan Noda had an RBI single in the 10th inning as the MLB-worst Oakland Athletics edged the Detroit Tigers 1-0 Tuesday night after being no-hit into the seventh inning. WNBA – Women’s National Basketball Association Tonight Indiana Fever at Minnesota Lynx, 8:00 p.m. WNBA – Mystics acquire Queen Egbo from Fever for Amanda Zahui B. NBA – Victor Wembanyama is the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, with expectations of stardom Victor Wembanyama is the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, headed to San Antonio with enormous expectations to become basketball’s newest sensation. The selection of the 19-year-old from France that had been a foregone conclusion for months was announced by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on Thursday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Wembanyama arrives with far more height and hype than most No. 1 picks. Listed at 7-foot-4, he dominated his French league in his final season there, leading all players in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Brandon Miller of Alabama was the No. 2 pick by the Charlotte Hornets and Scoot Henderson went third to the Portland Trail Blazers. NBA – Pistons, Pacers banking on lottery selections to provide immediate help on defense The Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers used lottery picks on players who should make their biggest early impact on defense while the rest of the Central Division teams sat out the first round of Thursday’s draft. Detroit selected wing Ausar Thompson of the Overtime Elite developmental program with the fifth overall selection. Indiana took Houston forward Jarace Walker, who went eighth. Both the Pistons and Pacers ended up with two first-round picks. The Pistons added Houston guard Marcus Sasser and the Pacers landed Belmont forward Ben Sheppard later in the first round.   The Pistons received some tough luck in the lottery when they got stuck with the fifth pick despite having the NBA’s worst record at 17-65. Welcome to another episode of Codename: Mystics Talk with your host, Nathan Snell. In this double recap episode, we dive into the Washington Mystics' weekend games, one win and one loss. Let's start with the thrilling victory against the Dallas Wings. Elena Delle Donne once again showcased her superhero skills, leading the team to a 75-74 win. However, the Mystics need to work on maintaining leads throughout the game, especially in the second half. The key players in this game were Elena, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Natasha Cloud, and Erica Atkins. Despite the win, the bench performance was lackluster. Moving on to the game against the winless Minnesota Lynx, the Mystics faced disappointment as Tiffany Mitchell hit a game-winning shot. The team struggled with rebounding and lacked frontcourt depth. Offensive execution and bench production remain areas of concern. Despite rallying at times, the Mystics couldn't overcome their lapses in focus. The game against the Lynx exposed areas that need improvement, such as turnovers and defense. The bench's contribution was subpar, leading to a missed opportunity for victory. Looking ahead, the Mystics have a week off to regroup and address their weaknesses. They face the Seattle Storm and participate in Sue Bird's jersey retirement ceremony on Friday, followed by a game against the Indiana Fever on Tuesday. The Mystics aim to bounce back and seek revenge for their playoff exit last season. Join us next time for a recap of the Mystics' matches against the Storm and Fever. Until then, stay safe, stay cool, and stay hydrated. Catch you on the flip side!
