I'm back with Scott Fawcett, founder of the DECADE Course Management System, to get the ins-and-outs of his unique approach to breaking 80 this summer!   This time, we're really getting into the weeds of course management strategy. Scott highlights the limitations of traditional stat tracking and the benefits of focusing on metrics that truly reflect your game, while examining the relationship between putting and overall scoring.   We discuss the power of keeping a “mental scorecard” and why it's so important to have a clear intention for each shot. For golfers averaging scores in the high 80s, tracking meaningful metrics like greens in regulation and redefining what constitutes a successful tee shot can lead to performance optimization.   We dive into distance measurement next. Get Scott's expert insights on using launch monitors with your specific golf ball to pinpoint true iron distances and eliminate outliers. Learn how PGA pros like Aaron Wise use this data to make strategic adjustments, leading to more consistent, reliable shots.   Finally, we're exploring how speed training systems like the Rypstick and TheStack can take your swing speed to new heights!   Connect with Scott and Decade Golf Here: Instagram Decade Golf   To join the Desert Classic Interest List, click here.     Don't forget about the T-Time Swag Giveaway! If that's the case, the Suns will have just five more games until the playoffs start. A second ex-executive was acquitted. A Brooklyn federal jury delivered its verdict Thursday. Hernan Lopez was convicted. Carlos Martinez was acquitted. Prosecutors have said the case bared the corruption of international soccer. If that's the case, the Suns will have just five more games until the playoffs start. Durant has played in just three games — all on the road — since the blockbuster deal in February that sent Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks and other draft compensation to the Brooklyn Nets. He shot a bogey-free 64 and leads by one over Collin Morikawa. Hayden Buckley delivered the first ace of the tournament on the island-green 17th. Aaron Wise made a 10 on the closing hole with three straight tee shots into the water. Rory McIlroy had a 76. That’s his worst score in more than a year. Soccer – Split verdict for ex-Fox execs in soccer rights bribe case A former Fox executive has been convicted of paying tens of millions of dollars in bribes to nab broadcasting rights to the World Cup and other top soccer matches. A second ex-executive was acquitted. A Brooklyn federal jury delivered its verdict Thursday. Hernan Lopez was convicted. Carlos Martinez was acquitted. Prosecutors have said the case bared the corruption of international soccer. New York-based Fox Corp. wasn't charged in the case and has denied any involvement in the bribery scandal. Tennis – Andy Murray pulls out another 3-set victory at Indian Wells Andy Murray grabbed the last three games to come back and beat Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-4 across more than three hours in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open. Pacers 134, Rockets 125 – OT – Haliburton has career-high 19 assists in Pacers’ OT win Tyrese Haliburton had 28 points and a career-high 19 assists, Buddy Hield hit the go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime and the Indiana Pacers beat the Houston Rockets 134-125 on Thursday night. Hield broke a 117-all tie with his fifth 3-pointer and Haliburton scored 12 points after. The Pacers have won seven consecutive games against the Rockets, who have the NBA’s second-worst record at 15-51. Houston rookie forward Jabari Smith Jr. made a 3-pointer with four seconds left to force overtime. Smith scored 21 of his 30 points in the second half and had 12 rebounds. Saturday Indiana at Detroit, 7:00 p.m. Chicago at Houston, 8:00 p.m. NBA – Suns’ Durant out with ankle injury, re-evaluated in 3 weeks The Phoenix Suns say Kevin Durant has a left ankle sprain after slipping on the floor during pregame warmups on Wednesday and will be re-evaluated in three weeks. The hope was the 34-year-old wouldn’t miss much time because of the unlucky mishap, but now it appears he’ll be out until April. If that’s the case, the Suns will have just five more games until the playoffs start. Durant has played in just three games — all on the road — since the blockbuster deal in February that sent Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks and other draft compensation to the Brooklyn Nets. NHL – National Hockey League Tonight Chicago Blackhawks at Florida Panthers, 7:00 p.m. Saturday Detroit at Boston, 1:00 p.m. Chicago at Tampa Bay, 7:00 p.m. Sunday Boston at Detroit, 1:30 p.m. NHL – Red Wings trade Kampfer to Coyotes for future assets The Detroit Red Wings have traded defenseman Steven Kampfer to the Arizona Coyotes for future considerations. The 34-year-old Kampfer will report to Tucson of the American Hockey League after the trade announced on Thursday. Kampfer has not played in the NHL since appearing in 20 games for the Boston Bruins in 2020-21. He played 44 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL, scoring four goals with 18 assists. MLB – Major League Baseball – Spring Training Yesterday Detroit Tigers 10, Pittsburgh Pirates 7 Chicago Cubs 8, Cincinnati Reds 6 Team Columbia 5, Chicago White Sox 4 Today New York Yankees at Detroit Tigers, 1:05 p.m. Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs, 3:05 p.m. Golf – PGA – Ramey grabs Players lead in his debut at golf’s fickle test The TPC Sawgrass is one of the most unpredictable courses in golf. And it got a most unpredictable leaderboard after one round of The Players Championship. The leader is Chad Ramey, who had never see the Stadium Course until this week. Defense lawyers say the former Fox execs were framed by an admitted criminal who was trying to minimize his own punishment. New York-based Fox Corp. wasn’t charged in the case and has denied any involvement in the bribery scandal. Murray remained unbeaten in best-of-three-set matches that go the full three sets in 2023. Stan Wawrinka made a successful return to the hard-court tournament in Indian Wells, California, after four years away. He beat qualifier Aleksander Vukic 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. Wawrinka is a 37-year-old who has been ranked as high as No. 3 and is now No. 100 after a series of operations to his left foot and left knee. Host Carl Lewis and golf punter Wade Pretorius preview two tournaments this weekend, the Shriners Children's Open & Open de España. The PGA Tour heads to Vegas for the Shriners Hospital for Children Open this week. This event often gets a few bigger names, as the Vegas location makes it somewhat more attractive to the bigger names in golf. The Shriners Hospital for Children Open has a regular cut line of the top 65 players and ties. It's a full-field event with 150-plus players and has quite a bit more talent at the top of the board than last week's field, which had just one player in the top 40 of the OWGR. This week the event features 12 players in the top 50 of the OWGR, with the highest-ranked player being Patrick Cantlay at No. 4. Here's a list of the top 5 players in the OWGR in the Shriners field this week. Patrick Cantlay — 4 Max Homa — 17 Sungjae Im — 19 Tom Kim — 21 Aaron Wise — 36 Other Notables: Si Woo Kim, Garrick Higgo, Rickie Fowler, Alex Noren, Emiliano Grillo Across the pond in Spain, he might have fallen to sixth in the Official World Golf Rankings but former World No.1 Jon Rahm will be the star of the show at this week's Spanish Open in Madrid. The tournament is one of the continent's oldest and has been the site of many historic moments, not the least being Seve Ballesteros' 50th European Tour victory in 1995. His third Spanish Open crown, it was also the legendary Spaniard's last tournament win, in hindsight a fitting end to a stunning career. In recent years the tournament has lost a little of its lustre but there is no questioning its place in history with an honour roll including some of the best to ever play the game. Arnold Palmer, Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Peter Thomson and Peter Alliss are just a sampling of the former champions and Rahm himself has twice been a winner.

Brendan and Andy have a more-extensive-than-is-warranted conversation on the annual fall event in Mexico, reliving the glory of some past random champions, debating the course design, and receiving an education on mangroves. A short diversion on Aaron Wise and Joaquin Niemann leads to a larger discussion about the skills needed to jump up a level on Tour. On the European Tour, the Nedbank Challenge is previewed mostly with a dive into the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City. They also discuss the accompanying Lost City design with the famed “Crocodile Hole” and green in the shape of the African continent. With the year winding down, there’s a look at the OWGR Top 50 and the bubble boys who could claim a Masters spot, and some names prompt pondering about driver testing machines on every tee at Augusta. In news, they discuss the Chainsmokers playing a concert at The Players and an OWGR stat that illuminates the greatness and consistency of Rory McIlroy. They wrap with some fun about the lawsuit at Alpine CC over a waiter spilling wine on a $30,000 purse, recalling some of the more stupidly expensive purchases they made in their past.

We're BACK after a week away with lots to discuss. Mike & Matt recap the Players Championship, AND the AT&T Byron Nelson - AND look ahead to the Fort Worth Invitational at Colonial. (00:36) The Players Championship saw some RIDICULOUS golf out of Webb Simpson, who all but lapped the field on his way to victory.(5:47) After almost missing the cut, Tiger reminded us of the old days with a lights out 65 on Saturday - starting a comeback that nearly broke him into the top ten. Over at the Byron Nelson (26:10) the ENTIRE field beat the bag out of Trinity Forest - with a -4 cut line. Aaron Wise rose above it all to take his first victory in 26 starts. Finally we preview Colonial (45:35) complete with SGH (42:42), Stump Mike, picks, DFLs and lots more. Let's get into it!

His last win was 10 years ago at Bay Hill.  The conversation turns to the wrap around season and how these events in fall can help get some of the players off on the right foot. Players like Keegan Bradley and Glover who have placed in the Top 10 in two events already this season as compared to last year on the PGA Tour. Will asks Jeff about what some of the players are talking about heading into this week's OHL Classic.  Jeff mentions that winning on Tour in the fall is like getting three years of eligibility back. Pampling's win will give him PGA Tour status up until his 50th birthday now and he will be ready for the Champions Tour.  Will asks Jeff about the new era with Jay Monahan becoming the new commissioner. Jeff said Jay is well respected on the Tour and feels he will be able to keep the Tour on the successful track that Tim Finchem (pictured) has built over the past 22 years.  Holly switches gears and asks Jeff about some of the young players on Tour, like Aaron Wise, the 20-year-old from the University of Oregon.  Ryan Moore has been playing well of late. Jeff said that Moore's success at the Ryder Cup seems to have boosted his confidence.  Holly aks Jeff who he likes to win this week at the OHL: Jeff says Jon Rahm, Keegan Bradley or Chris Kirk.

The 47-year-old battled major champion Lucas Glover.  Holly and Will talk about taking up the game of golf and how daunting it can seem to a newcomer. In Holly's blog about growing the game she talks about ways that golf courses can make it more welcoming to beginners, like learner's tees placed out in the fairways. Holly recounts playing at a course that had learner's tees with a new player and how that made the newcomer feel more like she was part of the game. Checking out the Tours, the Charles Schwab Cup wraps up this week on the Champions Tour and Vartan Kupelian who covers the tour for the PGA will be on this week's show. Jeff said that Moore's success at the Ryder Cup seems to have boosted his confidence.  Holly aks Jeff who he likes to win this week at the OHL: Jeff says Jon Rahm, Keegan Bradley or Chris Kirk. In the third segment of the show, Holly G and W Perry talk about the Tour being in Mexico this week and the field of players competing including a contingency of Mexican players who may surprise some people this week. Will knows some of the Mexican players from working around them at the Gary Gilchrist Academy.   Holly welcomes Bob Harig, ESPN.com, to the show. The two talk about this week's field of players. Bob talks to Holly and Will about Jordan Spieth's decision to play less this year after competing in so many events last year against the will of some of his advisors. Bob remembers all the events that Jordan competed in at the beginning of the season last year. With Jordan winning in December, Bob feels that might have thrown off Spieth's thinking that playing so many events might not be that bad.  This year so far, Spieth seems to be keeping more of a domestic schedule and turning down some appearance fees.   Will asks Bob about what he thinks Jordan's schedule will be this year.  Bob said that he doesn't know that all of the traveling and playing that Spieth did last year caused him to not win as much, but it definitely takes a toll on the players and they seem to start to wear down toward the end of the season. Holly asks Bob about the passing of the commissioner's torch from Finchem to Monahan. Bob has an article on ESPN.com about it. (Jay Monahan named fourth PGA Tour commissioner).  The fact that Jay was a tournament director twice helps him transition into the job as opposed to Finchem who had worked with President Carter's administration prior to stepping into the PGA Tour. Bob like John Rahm's chances of winning on the Tour this week. In the final segment of the show, Holly G and W Perry talk about the OHL Classic. Will picks Carlos Ortiz to win and Jim Furyk. Holly is rooting for Keegan Bradley and Emiliano Grillo.  Vartan Kupelian checks in from Scottsdale, Arizona where he is covering the final event in the Charles Schwab Cup Championship on the Champions Tour.  Holly asks about Bernhard Langer's chance of winning an unprecedented 4th time. Vartan talks about the top 5 players chances of winning. Vartan and Holly talk about Tiger and his chances of playing in the Hero World Challenge as well as the outlook for him in the upcoming year.  Vartan wraps up the show picking Joe Durant to win the final event and take home the Charles Schwab Cup title. Durant is in 4th place in the Charles Schwab Cup points and has been playing well.

Holly opens the show talking about her recent participation, along with Will's, at the 2016 International Network of Golf Spring Conference in Heber Valley, Utah. A quick look at the headlines, Jordan Spieth won the DEAN and DELUCA Invitational at Colonial which earned him the plaid jacket and his first PGA Tour win in Texas. Rocco Mediate beat Colin Montgomerie to win his first major on the Champions Tour and Ariya Jutanugarn posts her third consecutive win on the LPGA Tour.   Bob Harig, ESPN.com, checks in from Muirfield Village, and talks with Holly about Bob's article on ESPN.com covering the PGA Tour's announcement that it is moving the Doral event at Trump National to Mexico City. The PGA Tour has not been able to find a sponsor for the event since Cadillac announced that it would no longer be the sponsor. Bob said that the event has a $9.5 million purse and a group in Mexico stepped up to be the title sponsor for the World Golf Championship event.  Now there will only be three events in the "Florida Swing" as compared to four from before.  Kevin asks Bob if he thinks that the event didn't get a sponsor because of  Donald Trump's political views? For more than 50 years they have managed to get a sponsor even when it became a WGC event. There are a lot of positives for it to stay in Doral and there will be a lot of consequences for the tournament not being there economically. Holly asks Bob about the Memorial this week and having three of the top players in the field in Jason Day, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth all coming off recent wins competing against one another. Jack Nicklaus talked about the "big three" in the press tournament as compared to the Big Three of the past.  Lance Ringler, Golfweek, calls in from the 2016 Men's NCAA Championship in Oregon. Beau Hossler, Texas player, injured his shoulder during Tuesday's round and was able to hold on to win and put Texas in the finals against Oregon. Unfortunately Hossler had to concede his match today so Oregon only needs to win two more to become national champs. Kevin talks to Lance about Aaron Wise winning the individual national championship.  Holly asks Lance about the women's national championship which was recently won by the Washington Huskies . The event the past two years since switching to match play has been great golf to watch and some feel is doing a lot for women in golf. It was theatrical, dramatic and the atmosphere was electric and was the same thing last year at The Concession Golf Club with Stanford and Baylor. Women were holing shots to extend matches and to win matches. Holly talks about Duke's Virginia Carta winning the individual title in impressive fashion as a freshman. It was her first collegiate victory.  Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post calls in to wrap up the show. Steve co-authored the book, "Mr Hogan The Man I Knew, with former LPGA player Kris Tschetter. Holly also asks Steve about Ariya Jutanugarn's domination on the LPGA winning three of the last three events. Steve said that Ariya did something that no other ladies player has done, followed her first win on the LPGA with two more consecutive wins.  Holly asks Steve about Ariya's background. She was supposed to be Lydia Ko before Lydia Ko. She is so long and straight off the tee. It's a high-launch, low-spin rocket off the tee. Not many women can hit a 9 iron more than 160 yards like she can. Steve said that Ariya was injured clowning around at Rochester, which was a huge set back for her both physically and emotionally. No she has her confidence back and she is performing like she can. Holly asks Steve about Michelle Wie and her status of late since her injury. Steve is wondering if its the end of Michelle's career on the LPGA?  Holly asks Steve about Tiger's return to the tour. Steve says Tiger may return next year, may win again, but probably won't win another major. Steve and Holly talk about Rocco Mediate's win on the Champions Tour over Bernhard Langer ad Colin Montgomerie.
