Welcome to the Invested in Hockey Podcast! Episode 35 is here: "Slow Starts & Frozen Frenzy – Week 3 of the 2024-2025 NHL Season" In this episode of Invested in Hockey, we dive into Week 3 of the 2024-2025 NHL season, where some key players and teams are off to super slow starts. We discuss Zach Hyman and Miro Heiskanen, both struggling with 0 points so far - will Hyman turn it around to earn a spot on Team Canada for 2025? Does Heiskanen still have a shot at the Norris Trophy, despite Makar having 14 points in 7 games...? We also break down the much-anticipated Frozen Frenzy from Tuesday night, a packed night of games that included thrillers like Carolina vs. Edmonton and the Flames vs. Penguins. Fantasy managers had their lineups overflowing with action, and had points coming from full lineups! Goaltending questions continue to swirl, as Joseph Woll is yet to return and will face competition from Anthony Stolarz. Additionally, the Bruins struggle despite Jeremy Swayman's strong play. We also revisit ALL of our breakout picks from Episode 33— such as Dylan Guenther and Sebastian Aho, who proved us right with Aho's OT snipe to beat the Oilers. To wrap things up, we highlight some pointless high-paid players like Ondrej Palat, David Perron, and Alex Killorn. Tune in for all the latest, and don't forget to follow us on our socials! Listen now!

During the 2022 offseason, Ondrej Palat signed a five-year, $30 million ($6 million AAV) deal with the New Jersey Devils. His first year didn't go as planned, especially since he had to deal with a groin injury. His end-of-the-year stats were mediocre, but I believe he's bound to have a bounce-back season. I forgot to mention Kevin Bahl's name in yesterday's episode, so I decided to talk about his impact and my expectations for him.Interview soundbite: Ondrej PalatFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

A few days ago, the NHL announced their finalists for the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award. Unfortunately, Tom Fitzgerald was not named a finalist. Despite the NHL not giving him much deserved recognition, I decided to dedicate an episode highlighting his brilliant moves so far. Ondrej Palat has not scored a goal since March 7th and has been struggling as of late. The New Jersey Devils signed for him to be a solid contributor, however, it seems as though he has not been worth the money that the Devils have been paying him. Palat signed a 5-year, $30 million contract over the summer but he's been an overpaid bottom-six player as of late. Maybe he can pick up his game come playoff time. Speaking of which, it'll be interesting to see which team the Devils play in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Will it be the Florida Panthers or the New York Rangers? Either way, the Devils will definitely have their work cut out for them.Read Ryan's article: https://www.nj.com/devils/2023/04/devils-cant-contain-historic-bruins-lose-2-1-3-takeaways.htmlFollow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

Before diving into the wild weekend that was in the world of NHL and fantasy hockey, the boys quickly share their thoughts and fantasy hockey opinions on the continuing situation with the Vancouver Canucks and most recently the firing of fan favourite Bruce Boudreau - who both Steele and Flip agree deserved so much better than what the Canucks' front-office followed through on.Of course we also breakdown the fantasy hockey impact of injuries to such major pieces as Carolina Hurricanes forward Max Pacioretty who is once again on long-term IR with the same torn achilles injury. We also discuss the fantasy fallout of the shoulder injury that will shelve Montreal Canadiens stud fantasy piece Cole Caufield, who was on pace to potentially crack the 40-goal mark. Lastly on the injury front, we have to mention the day-to-day ailment for Washington Capitals captain and leader Alex Ovechkin. How long will he be out?Monday's of course are for the top fantasy hockey waiver-wire adds for the upcoming week, which for Flip and Steele include the likes of Victor Oloffsson of the Buffalo Sabres, Anton Lundell of the Florida Panthers, and even the likes of Ondrej Palat of the New Jersey Devils and even Jordan Staal of the Carolina Hurricanes.
