spotifyYoutubeFacebookInstagramhttps://www.tiktok.com/@alya.the.artistNo More Lonely Christmas, the new album from ALYA, which was just dropped, is a fulfilment of the artist's Christmas wish, embodied in the track that provides the name for the album. The eight tracks feature ALYA's versions of three classics, including a collaboration with Eric Clapton on “Silent Night,” and five original songs, including the title track, a fast, fun, hand-clapping, jazzy, pop love song.“We wanted to create something that would be an updated version of Mariah Carey's ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You,' which is a song I really love, a Christmas classic, but we felt like it's time for something new, fresh, cool, and ‘No More Lonely Christmas' is the song that came out of the thought.”Where Mariah's song is a wish for a certain someone, ALYA's song is the wish come true: I waited since foreverand now that we're togetherI feel the holiday cheerCuz I'll never be alone on Christmas“It was very fun to record,” she said. “There is a lot going on in the track.”Piano, horns, clapping, drums all combine in a happy, joyful celebration of love and the season.“It's just a very, very good feeling song. I had so much fun recording it, and I really hope that everybody else will feel the joy, feel the love that I put in the song. I really believe that it has all the chances of becoming a new Christmas classic.”The song is a perfect namesake for an album that carries the artist's Christmas hopes.“I wanted to put over so much love, so much good emotion, so much good energy that when you listen to the record you will feel like, no matter where you are, you are surrounded by your loved ones.”“Little Drummer Boy” and “I'll Be Home for Christmas,” along with “Silent Night,” are the album's three classics. Together, they constituted the EP she put out last year, Home for Christmas. They have been updated for the current album. This year's version of “I'll Be Home” features Indiara Sfair, “a wonderful musician from Brazil,” on harmonica.ALYA will live her Christmas wish on Monday in Los Angeles, when she will perform at the Good Shepherd Shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The children were asked to request gifts in advance, and they will get their wishes when ALYA distributes gifts.“I will be Mama Claus,” she said.Gifts will also be distributed to the mothers and staff and ALYA is providing a catered luncheon for the residents and staff. On December 19, she is streaming a live show from Burbank for STAGE.LIVE.BUY, a showcase for new artists modeled after NPR's “Tiny Desk” series. The day the album released she performed for a “Models in Comedy” Christmas special.ALYA was born and raised in the Soviet Union and, as a child, started classical vocal training. She immigrated as an adult to the United States in 2012 and began her career in music.“I dropped everything and started my life from scratch,” she says in her official biography. “I took the road less traveled, and that has made all the difference.”She has amassed millions of viewers on her social media platforms. Her single “Hope,” released earlier this year, went viral on TikTok, drawing more than a million views. As an artist and a philanthropist, she has been featured in Star, Us Weekly, In Touch Weekly and Life & Style.Beginning last year, she took her career further down the road less taken, putting out music at a much faster pace.“It takes a while to find the right people. It takes a while to find the sound that you really love,” she said, “and I'm just warming up.”No More Lonely Christmas is her first full length album. Next year, she will come out with more singles.“We will probably drop an album at the end of next year with a new sound, with new people.”Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.
[SEGMENT 1-1] Christmas songs repeat 2023 [SEGMENT 1-2] Learn to enjoy Christmas It's Christmas Day and I hope you are enjoying life with friends and family. And if you happen to be alone, then thank you for including me in your Christmas, and know that I am with you in spirit. When I was an engineer, I had a friend who hated the holidays, especially Christmas. I thought he was kidding, but each year he got very depressed at this time. It was so difficult for me to understand this, because I'm a “cup half filled” person. What was so intriguing to me is that any other time of year, this guy was just like me. He was truly the Merry Mexican. One of the technicians on my engineering team, and the guy was a joy to be around…except during the holidays. In a way I get it. The most wonderful time of the year for God-loving people is almost approached with trepidation. It's the time of year to keep your mouth shut. Yes, we've spent all year fighting the lunatic Left, and now we're supposed to gather around the dinner table, smiling politely as Aunt Karen waxes poetic about “how presidential” Gavin Newsom looks in a windbreaker. The Unbearable Expectations of Christmas Christmas is supposed to be festive, but for many, it's a pressure cooker of unrealistic expectations. Let's start with the car commercials. Who are these people getting luxury cars with big red bows? I swear, I've never met anyone who's walked outside on Christmas morning and found a shiny new Lexus in the driveway. Not one. This isn't a gift—it's a financial ambush. “Merry Christmas, honey! Here's a monthly car payment the size of our mortgage.” Also, can we talk about the fact that Hollywood now feels obligated to diversify these commercials? Oh, look, it's Jamal and Shanice, living their best lives in matching sweaters, unwrapping a BMW. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but let's not pretend this is a universal experience. For most of us, the biggest thing we're unwrapping is the family pack of socks from Costco. New Year's Resolutions: The Annual Lie And then there's New Year's. We treat it like a fresh start, even though it's literally just the day after December 31. “This year, I'm going to the gym!” Sure, you are, Karen. Right after you finish the leftover pecan pie and delete Netflix. Why do we lie to ourselves like this? The same people who couldn't manage to walk their dog more than twice in 2023 are now planning to train for a marathon. Stop it. Holidays with the Left But let's get to the real Christmas buzzkill: Leftists. From Thanksgiving onward, we Conservatives are given a strict set of holiday rules. Don't wear your MAGA hat to dinner. Don't mention Trump. Don't bring up Biden unless you're praising his “resilience.” It's like the PC police have infiltrated our homes, ready to pounce if you so much as hum “God Bless America.” Even in victory—and Trump's 2024 win was a victory for America, the world, and maybe even Mars—we're told to tone it down. “Don't gloat,” they say. Meanwhile, they've spent four years calling us racists, fascists, and worse. Well, guess what, Aunt Karen? This Christmas, I'm drinking eggnog from my TKJN Trump Nickname mug and flaunting my Trumpiness like a MAGA elf at the North Pole. Why Conservatives Need Christmas Here's the thing: We Conservatives need Christmas. It's our time to recharge, to celebrate faith, family, and freedom. While the Left spends the season trying to cancel Rudolph for being “problematic” (too red, obviously Republican), we're out here keeping the traditions alive. Caroling? Check. Nativity scenes? Double check. Loudly pointing out that Jesus was not a socialist? Triple check. And let's not forget, Christmas is the ultimate reminder that good triumphs over evil. It's like a Hallmark movie on steroids. The world needed a savior, and boom, Jesus arrived. And in the spirit of that divine intervention, let's celebrate another miracle: Trump saved us from Bidenomics, open borders, and the Ministry of Truth. You better believe that's worth a toast. Dealing with the Lunatics Potential Funny AdditionsA fake Christmas letter from the DNC: “Dear Conservatives, Please don't celebrate too loudly. It's making us look bad.”A MAGA-themed Christmas song parody: “It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Freedom.”A holiday card: “All I want for Christmas is four more years!” I hope today you have on your Trump MAGA hat, drink from your TKJN Trump Nickname mug, and flaunt your “Trumpiness” like Trumpian elves. [SEGMENT 1-3] Christmas toys repeat 2023 [SEGMENT 1-4] Government trophy girlfriend I was thinking about this, and I've said many times that it's the rough patches in life that teach you lessons. You learn little from the good times. That's why so many billionaires' kids end up in rehab. And plastic surgeons feast on the insecurities of their wives. Money can't buy you everything, but it does keep the kids close. Government is like that billionaire's kid. It's gotten so much without doing anything that now it expects it. And no matter how badly government behaves or performs, it wants what it wants. Trauma and Government Incompetence: A Match Made in Dysfunction And trauma also unites us, which is why we revolted against our government in the last election. We finally dealt with the trauma. Similarly, government incompetence echoes life's trauma—it unites us in shared disbelief. And much like those trauma support groups, we form bonds over mutual suffering:DMV Survivors Anonymous.Post Office PTSD Support.TSA Group Therapy: “Hi, my name is Kevin, and I was randomly selected for a cavity search.”The People Who Really Show Up Government is that chic we met at the bar who was HOT. She met us at our financial best, not when we were trying to make it. So we took our arm-candy all over the world, galivanting. And when we went to Thailand for her plastic surgery, she denied the bag with the coke in it was hers, and we had to do her time in that Thai prison. She headed straight to the yacht in Monaco to meet up with some dude she met at the airport while you were detained. Who did you call to get you out. That fat girl you ghosted in college after that one night you pretend didn't happen. And that girl jumped on a plane to Thailand to get you an attorney with her life savings. Refusing to return to America until you are free, she's now working as a stripper to pay off guards in the Thai prison to keep you from being violated. Meanwhile, your trophy girlfriend, aka the government, doesn't even remember your name. The Hilariously Dysfunctional Government Wish List I've been thinking a lot about what government should actually be doing for us. Instead of wasting money on things like gender-neutral snowplows or building sandcastles for crabs in Martha's Vineyard, why not tackle the real issues? You know, stuff that would actually make life better—or at least less absurd. The Government and Cancer: We Know You Have the Cure Let's start with the big one: curing cancer. We've mapped the human genome, people. We've sent robots to Mars, created ChatGPT, and even taught a few people on TikTok how to read. But you're telling me we still can't cure cancer? Please. I know the cure exists, probably stored in a climate-controlled lab in Beijing next to Hunter Biden's misplaced laptop. Only the richest people in the world get access to it, while the rest of us are out here doing 5Ks in pink tutus, hoping our donation covers a box of Band-Aids for a research center. And diabetes? Oh, that's cured too. But apparently, it's reserved for Silicon Valley execs who are on a raw avocado and crypto diet. Meanwhile, the rest of us are stuck playing Russian roulette with insulin prices.Real Science We Need Forget sending billionaires to space or making vegan leather from mushrooms. How about some practical science for regular folks? The Eyebrow That Won't Quit: I have this one eyebrow hair that grows faster than my afro did in the ‘70s. Can someone in a lab coat take five minutes away from studying the mating habits of fire ants to fix this?Butt Hair Be Gone: Why do we have hair growing in places nobody wants it? Between the ears, the nose, and—let's just say it—the nether regions, I'm starting to think nature is just trolling us. And while we're at it, does my nose hair have to turn gray? Nothing screams “distinguished gentleman” like a silvery vine hanging out of your nostril.Anti-Sweat Technology: Forget curing male-pattern baldness. I'd rather have a government-funded lotion that stops my pits from looking like Niagara Falls every summer. Priorities, people.Free Wi-Fi and No Toll Roads: Is That Too Much to Ask? Here's another idea: free Wi-Fi everywhere. If we can find funding for shrimp on treadmills (true story—Google it), then we can surely give Americans free internet access. You know, so we can stream cat videos in peace without selling our souls to Comcast. And toll roads? Enough already. We've paid for these roads ten times over. What are they paving these highways with, Gucci loafers? If the government insists on charging us to drive on roads we already own, the least they could do is throw in a free car wash or a pack of gum.Government Waste: You Can't Make This Up The real comedy gold lies in what the government is spending our money on. Some of this stuff sounds like rejected plotlines from “Veep.”Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-kevin-jackson-show--2896352/support.

This time of year is stressful. Amen? Think about how we spend our days this time of year? We're running to buy presents. There are lights to be hung. Baking to be done. We're running to holiday concerts. Running to holiday tournaments. Running to holiday parties. Don't forget the Elf on the Shelf. There's that strand of lights on the house that won't stop blinking. As your credit cards heat up your blood pressure heats up. It's a season where there's never enough time, never enough energy and never enough money to get it all done.Truth be told, God was never into busy or behavior modification. In fact, Christmas isn't at all about a God who is "watching you." And God never intended for the arrival of God's Son to lead to Christmas stress for all eternity.Christmas… It's about a God who "comes to be with us" whatever our circumstance. A God who comes to give you “peace” any our waiting. A God who comes as the light of the world. A God who comes for all people. Christmas is about a God who comes to you…you who are worthy. In this episode, we're talking about sugar and how sugar dims your light plus the how and the why of ditching sugar because I would call reducing and removing refined sugar a foundational basic step one and it's easy especially at this time of year (after Christmas) It is easy for this to kind of go dry and for us to lose sight of this so I'm going to share some of the geeky facts around this and inspire you and re-envision your thoughts around this basic area. It's really simple, but the impact that it can have can be really profound. If you can have a healthy relationship with sugar, if you can, take the power back when it comes to your relationship with sugar or said another way in a more practical way: You can just remove refined sugars and refined carbohydrates or reducing them can have a profound impact on your mental health, hormonal health, belly and your joy and pleasure in the world. This isn't about restriction and deprivation and removing food for the sake of being better, deprived and being miserable. This is actually about you feeling really good, feeling your happiest and most joyful and being the most resilient and energised version of yourself. A lot of refined sugar and excess refined carbohydrate is going to dim your light and it's going to make you feel crap. You might need to hit the reset button when it comes to your sugar intake or maybe you've never really addressed this area because it just feels so big and overwhelming. I'm going to break it down into the how and the why. Let's dive in! Resources Book your free call with me here Beat the Sweet: Sugar Detox & Recipe Collection SHIFT challenge

The usual hustle and bustle for preparing Christmas presents had gone for Santa had fallen ill.“Oh dear, what will children say when they don't receive presents this year,” Santa wondered sadly, as he lay on his bed.Suddenly, he heard a noise from outside. Children , who do you think was outside?Nice. Let's listen ahead. He looked out of his window and saw his four reindeer standing patiently as always. But they seemed quite out of breath as if they had just finished a long trip. And as Santa took a closer look, he could not believe what he saw. For behind the reindeer was the long train of sledges carrying children little children dressed in all sorts of colours. One by one, they hopped out onto the snow and headed towards Santa's lodge. Soon came a knock on the door.“Come in,” Santa called out as he was extremely curious. In came a little girl hugging something soft in her arms. “I hear you were sick Mr Santa,” she began. “So, I am giving you my teddy bear to keep you company.”“Thank you little Emma,” said Santa as he knew every child by name. Then entered a young boy with a red package in his arms.“We knew that you were ill Papa Santa,” he said. “So my family knitted this quilt for you to keep you warm in the winter days.”“What a wonderful thought Paul,” beamed Santa patting him on the head. One by one, the children came in through Santa's door, each with a special gift to wish Santa a speedy recovery. Children, name a few gift that you think Santa got from the children?Yes, there were cookies, pieces, socks, mittens, books, jigsaw puzzles, and even a small Christmas tree! “Children delivered to my doorstep!” exclaimed Santa. “Come let us all share these wonderful gifts.” and he gathered the children around him in a big circle.“Santa, which present did you like the most?” Emma soon piped up.“My dear little ones, it is the love and kindness that each one of you has shown me today. That is the best present of all!” Santa said smiling. He looked fondly at all the eager faces around him. “This, my little ones is the true meaning of Christmas,” Santa said. With that, Santa gave each of the children are big warm holiday hug.

In the 1947 classic Christmas film It's a Wonderful Life!, George Bailey, played by Jimmy Stewart, goes through a tough time during Christmas in dealing with two serious financial problems caused by someone else. This most beloved and joyful man in all of Bedford Falls is overcome with depression, anger, hopelessness, and despair. In the midst of all this, George's wife, Mary, steps in and shows us how to help the people we love when they are in a dark place, especially at Christmas It's what today's episode is all about. But before we get into today's episode, here's what this podcast is all about. Welcome to You Were Made for This If you find yourself wanting more from your relationships, you've come to the right place. Here you'll discover practical principles you can use to experience the life-giving relationships you were made for. I'm your host, John Certalic, award-winning author and relationship coach, here to help you find more joy in the relationships God designed for you. Christmas is all about relationships Of all the times of the year to find joy in our relationships, can there be a better time than Christmas? Christmas only exists because Jesus wants a relationship with us, and he came to earth to make that really clear to us. There's certainly joy in this relationship, and also in our relationships with friends and family. But sometimes things get in the way of experiencing the kind of relationship God designed for us with the people we love. We see this so vividly in what I think is the greatest Christmas movie ever made, It's a Wonderful Life! The film is overflowing with many different kinds of relationship struggles. But in the end, it leaves you feeling good about being alive in community with other people. I like this movie so much that I did an entire podcast on seven relationship lessons we learn from It's a Wonderful Life! It's episode 045 and I'll have a link to it at the bottom of today's show notes. It's a Wonderful Life! in a nutshell If it's been a while since you saw the film, or if you've never seen It's a Wonderful Life!, here's a brief summary of the plot: The main character, George Bailey, played by Jimmy Stewart, grew up in a small town by the name of Bedford Falls prior to WWII. From the time he was young, George was a very popular, engaging person, well-liked by everyone. Small-town life was not for him, however. He talked often about his dream of traveling to far-away places where he would work as an engineer to build big things, like skyscrapers and bridges. George grew up in a loving family where his father and uncle ran the Bailey Brothers Building & Loan, a business in competition with the bank in town owned by the antagonist in the movie, Henry Potter. “Old man Potter” as he was called. At one point George's father, Peter Bailey, died suddenly and George took over the Building & Loan. The plan was that once George's brother Harry graduated from college, he would take over the Building & Loan, so George could leave Bedford Falls to pursue an education and his dreams. But things didn't turn out as planned. Harry returns from college, not just with a diploma, but also with a wife and a job out of town with his father-in-law. All this leaves George with the responsibility of running the Building & Loan, causing him to feel all the more trapped, which is a major theme of the movie. Money set aside for a honeymoon George ends up getting married to a woman named Mary. On their wedding day and on their way out of town for their honeymoon, there's a run on the bank. This was not unusual during the Depression of the 1930s, which is when the movie takes place. Everyone wanted to withdraw their savings in cash, but there's not enough money to pay out the withdrawals. Mary sees what's going on and turns over to George all the wedding money and savings she and George have saved for their honeymoon. George then uses it to pay out the cash withdrawals. This is the first example we see from Mary of how to help the people we love when they are going through a rough time. How many women do you know would sacrifice their once-in-a-lifetime romantic vacation to help her husband solve a problem at work? Not many. Most women would say something along the lines of, “This is our wedding day and we're leaving for our honeymoon. Let your co-workers deal with the problem. They'll understand. Aren't I more important than your job, your business? But that's not Mary. She sacrifices her desires and her resources to help the person she loves. Sometimes to help the people we love we have to set aside our dreams. And sometimes to help the people we love will cost us financially. Investing in relationships This run on the bank that George and Mary are dealing with is an interesting metaphor for relationships. Just as deposits we make with our money into financial institutions, we also make “deposits” in our relationships. George Bailey had certainly done that with the relationships he developed and fostered in Bedford Falls. The movie shows how he invested in people, and the things he did to help people who needed help. Watch for it the next time you see the movie. I'll comment more on this in a few minutes. But I wonder about you and me. To what extent are we investing in relationships, where we pour ourselves into being there for other people? Will we have enough in our relationship account that there will be something to withdraw when we need help? Another problem at work After the problem with the run on the bank is solved. Another work-related problem arises like the whack-a-mole game you play at the fair. On Christmas Eve Uncle Billy misplaces $8,000 worth of deposits right as a bank examiner shows up for an audit. In today's dollars adjusted for inflation, this would amount to about $110,000. If the money isn't found, it will mean bankruptcy, scandal, and jail time for George. He's beside himself with fear, and it brings out the worst in him. The rest of the film shows how George goes about dealing with this problem, and how others deal with George. If ever there was a movie about relationships, this would be it. For example, at one point in the film George tries to help Uncle Billy remember where he left the money. But he gets impatient, roughs up Uncle Billy, and calls him “a silly old fool.” George then comes home in his irritated, fearful state and yells at his kids. He makes one of them cry, in fact. At which point Mary steps in to protect her children. She positions herself in front of the kids and confronts George very sternly with “George, why must you torture the children? Why don't you…” A change in behavior Before this scene, Mary observed this marked change in behavior in her husband and asked him “What's wrong?” George doesn't answer, in part because I think he's trying to protect his wife from work problems, and in part because he's confused by his own anger and rage. Mary is puzzled by George because it's not like him to be so angry. But she doesn't give up on George when he doesn't answer her “what's wrong?” question. She reflects in her mind what might be the problem. George didn't go to work that morning angry at the world, so it's logical to consider that maybe something happened at work to set him off. George isn't any help in figuring out the problem, so Mary logically and wisely calls someone who works with George to see if he might know. It's one thing you can do to help someone you love. She picks up the phone and asks the operator to call Bedford 247. And guess who answers? Uncle Billy. Now we don't hear what Mary says to Uncle Billy. But by the end of the movie we find out. George gets help for dealing with his problem After George walks out the door after yelling at his kids we see him encounter Clarence Oddbody AS2 (Angel 2nd class). He's sent by God to help George put his problem in perspective and to realize the impact he's had on people. It's interesting that God doesn't send Clarence the angel to solve George's problem, but rather that despite his problems it truly is a wonderful life that George has been living. God still works like that today. Often not solving our problems, but always putting them in perspective in light of eternity and God's purposes for our life. Bold action to help the people we love Getting back to Mary and her phone call to Uncle Billy. After George's encounter with Clarence Oddbody, Angel second class, he returns home a new man. Oh so grateful to be alive and even at peace with the potential consequences of the misplaced $8,000 of deposits. It's here we see what Mary and Uncle Billy talked about in their phone call. She now tells George, “It's a miracle, George! It's a miracle!” Then Uncle Billy walks through their front door with a large wicker laundry basket, sets it on a folding table, and tells George one of the key lines in the movie in an excited tone. “Mary did it, George! Mary did it! She scoured all over town telling people you were in trouble…” With that, crowds of people come pouring through the front door with cash to put in the basket. What a bold action on Mary's part. Sometimes to help the people we love we have to step out of our comfort zone and ask other people to help us care for the one we love. Sometimes we have to make withdrawals from our relational bank account. It's just how it works. What we've learned from Mary in It's a Wonderful Life! Mary shows us that we can help the people we love who are going through difficult times by first observing any change in behavior. What's different about them now, and when did the change happen? Often knowing when will give us further clues to help those we love. We also learn from Mary how it's important to reflect upon what might be causing the distress in the people we love. Be direct and ask them. They may not know themselves, but don't give up. Probe further. Take action as Mary did. Ask other people who may be in a position to know what the root of the problem is in the angst our loved one is experiencing. Call someone. Don't text. And then when you finally understand the heart of the problem. Take more action. Evaluate what you can do to help, and what you need from other people. Finally, we learn from Mary that helping the people we love going through a really bad season is done behind the scenes. I love behind-the-scenes-people. They have no hidden agenda and they want to bring out the best in people. It's never about them So what does all this mean for YOU? How can you use what you've heard today to help you find more joy in the relationships in your life? Make it a goal to be a better observer of the important people in your life. Notice any changes in behavior. Then reflect upon what might possibly be causing those changes. Finally, take action. Do something that tries to help. And like Mary in the movie, do all this behind the scenes. Be a behind-the-scenes person. It's pretty fulfilling helping the people we love this way. Closing In closing, I'd love to hear any thoughts you have about today's episode. I hope your thinking was stimulated by today's show, to consider how you can help the people you love this Christmas - behind the scenes. For when you do, it will help you experience the joy of relationships God desires for you. Because after all, You Were Made for This. Well, that's it for today. As we close up shop, please don't forget to spread a little relational sunshine around the people you meet this week. Spark some joy for them, kind of like Mary did and all the people of Bedford Falls. And I'll see you again next time. Goodbye for now. It's Christmas time again and Santa's Booty Boys are back to wish you all well. They bring gifts for each other and for the first time in a long time - music discussion. Tune in to hear them discuss Jane Fonda, Liberace, Amarillo and Pearl Harbour in this extended two day recording set at Christmas (It was recorded across two days but isn't two days long, if you get what I mean? A recording that was two days long would be ridiculous in concept. Furthermore, in practice that would most likely be one of the most gruelling experiences any one person could suffer. We're not even getting paid for this, and I sure as hell wouldn't be editing that colossal waste of time. Who would even listen to it? If I walked up to you in the street and asked you to listen to it for a hundred quid, right then and there, would you do it? No, you wouldn't, would you? And not because the average attention span has shrunk to barely hit ten seconds, but because I wouldn't have the time to sit there and wait on you finishing it. I'm a busy person and I have much more important things to do than watch you listen to a two day long podcast, in the street, for a hundred quid. Who do you think I am? Father Time? Pastor J shares a sermon entitled Hanukkah and Christmas: It's All About Light. Visit Doran Wesleyan Church online at: www.DoranWesleyan.WorthyOfPraise.org
No one can survive without hope. As one ancient voice proclaimed, 'Hope deferred makes the heart sick.' There is so much in life that can rob us of hope. Yet God spoke a message of hope to a hopeless bunch of people which still carries power and clarity to us today. In Zechariah 9:9-13 we see three reasons for hope this Christmas: It won't always be like this Hope has a name Your life count If we understand and absorb these three headlines, we shall notice hope rising from within. The coming king that the prophet Zechariah pointed to has come to his people - at Christmas Jesus the King came to save his people. When we see that he did this for us, hope is planted and begins to grow. Main text Zechariah 9:9-13 Preacher David Varney, pastor Foundation Church Belfast

But there are many more of those strange sightings to share! (More Real Santa Sightings) *** Christmas has been celebrated for centuries, and gift-giving has been around in America since well before the Civil War. But how we celebrate and what we give changes depending on the time. We'll take a look at what Christmas was like for American pioneers in the 1800s. (Christmas in The Old West) *** At a Christmas party the revelers heard a horrifying scream from outside. They rushed out to hear the screams were coming from the sky, at least above the rooftops. But how could that be? It was then that they learned Oliver Lerch had disappeared – never to be seen again. (The Christmas Disappearance of Oliver Lerch) *** Nothing says Christmas like a poisonous weed! Well… you explain mistletoe! We'll look at why we're supposed to kiss under this deadly plant during the holidays. (A Kiss Under the Mistletoe) *** A horrible fire breaks out at an Oklahoma school during the holidays of 1924 – and the ghosts of the children still linger at the site. (Ghosts of the Babbs Switch School Christmas Fire) *** You might be celebrating Christmas like a viking and not even realize it. From the holiday ham to the evergreen in your living room, we'll look at how the pagan celebration of Yule influenced modern Christmas traditions. (How To Celebrate Christmas Like a Viking) *** Kids in America anxiously await the arrival of Santa Claus bounding down the chimney with gifts and candy for the good little boys and girls. But that's America. What comes down the chimney of Irish and Scottish kids may not be so jolly, plump, and loving. Some Gaelic children have to watch out for the Bodach. (Beware the Bodach at Christmas) *** It's something we're trying to revive here on Weird Darkness… the lost tradition of telling ghost stories at Christmas. People close to Jesus were convinced they had met good personified. So they documented the story. They were convinced it wasn't just for a nation or for a generation, but for all nations and every generation. This was good news, great joy, for all people—perhaps especially for those of us who aren't all that good. … Continue reading "Christmas–It's All Good, part 1: Better Than True"
