G'day to you all from around the world. Once again, the music beckons your attention and hopefully livens up your day. You know what to expect, sounds to please the ears and heart. Most of the artists you recognise here preview their new albums and tunes for the first time on Sequences. Just three newcomers: from Austria, Johannes Winkler's debut album ‘Vogelperspektive', the former pilot takes us on a journey through soundscapes and ambient structures inspired by a legacy of airborne perspectives. The synth sisters Mareena & JakoJako, two talented musicians and friends, embark on a joyful voyage through sound, fully immersed in an all captivating wall of sound, and finally, a bit of a mystery, translated from Chinese, Cipher Zero, on a label of underground music based in China. We dive straight into the second album by Holland Holmes on Spotted Peccary. Here we have a plethora of synthesizers ebb, flow, and surround each other like shifting tides in a sonic mix of Berlin School sequences, traditional melodic structures, and emotional chord progressions. Cover art created by and courtesy of Robert Rich, https://robertrich.com/graphic-art/.   As regular visitors to this blog have probably figured out, I don't really plan things out here. Sometimes it's a mix a week, sometimes it's a month between mixes. The last Blade Runner mix is the perfect example, I wasn't even thinking about that mix until we hit Nov. 2019 which is the month and year of Blade Runner. So I quickly threw that mix together and boom, there it was. So then other mix ideas get pushed back or forgotten about until some other piece of music catches my ear.   So it's not a big surprise that Paul emailed me the tracklist for this mix back in May. Every time I'd think about starting this set something would distract my social media addled brain and the mix would get pushed back. With the end of the year closing in I finally have laid down all the tracks and Mystical Ambience 2: Tactile Ground is here.   This is what Paul has to say about this mix:   "A listener on Bandcamp described a recent Spotted Peccary label sampler as “Not too sweet, not too dark.” Which is the same balance I try to bring to my selections for Low Light Mixes. This one is another journey concept. I've always had a special fondness for artists who can sensitively blend electronic and acoustic instruments to create beautiful juxtapositions of textures, and also offers a metaphor for balancing the ethereal and the concrete. In that spirit, this mix includes some slow- earthy, cross-cultural jazz before ending with cosmic tranquility.”    Thanks Paul!   T R A C K L I S T : 00:00 Remote Vision - The Glittercliff (Into Light 2018) 06:17 Hibernation - Wabi Sabi (Second Nature 2012) 11:35 Hibernation - The Uncarved Block (Second Nature 2012) 16:00 Marion Brown Jazz Cussion - Naima (Echoes of Blue 2006) 22:09 Kaya Project - Forgive(ambient mix) (Ambient Mixes 2 2019) 27:42 Jan Garbarek - Cloud of Unknowing (In Praise of Dreams 2004) 32:49 Massergy - Phenakistoscope (A Novel Sense of Calm 2015) 38:15 Chronotope Project - A Prayer for Tenderness (Lotus Rising 2018) 43:20 Hollan Holmes - Prayer to the Energy (Prayer to the Energy 2017) 48:45 Northumbria - Sacred Ground (Helluland 2015) 52:35 Robert Rich - The Abiding Wheel (Tactile Ground 2018) 58:55 Meg Bowles - Chalice of Shadows (Evensong: Canticles for the Earth 2018) 63:30 Steve Roach - Spiral Triptych 2 (Texture Maps 2002)

created by and through the courtesy of Hollan Holmes     I am excited to bring you another beautifully curated mix from Paul Asbury Seaman. Anyone who has been to this blog in the last couple of years should be familiar with Paul's excellent mixes. The most recent of which was a train mix from a couple of months ago...   http://lowlightmixes.blogspot.com/2019/03/places-ive-never-beenode-to-high-speed.html   This collection of tunes is a tribute to one of Paul's favorite artists, Hollan Holmes.   https://hollanholmes.bandcamp.com/   Here's what Paul has to say about this mix:   “The Hearts of Space radio program wasn't named after Hollan Holmes, but it could have been. His music is infused with both awe and a tenderness not often found in space music, which is all the more impressive given that he uses no acoustic instruments. This mix, in honor of Holmes's soon-to-be-released seventh album, includes two tracks by Richard Burmer, a primary influence on Holmes, and two by fellow Spotted Peccary artist, Massergy. (Note: Cover artwork for this mix was created by and through the courtesy of Hollan Holmes, from his forthcoming album, MILESTONES.)”   Thanks Paul!   Cheers!   T R A C K L I S T : 00:00    Hollan Holmes - Darkness and Light(Prayer to the Energy 2017) 05:00    Richard Burmer - Solarsex(Mosaic 1984) 10:30    Hollan Holmes - That Ephemeral Spark(Prayer the the Energy 2017) 17:46    Richard Burmer - Winter on the Wind(Mosaic 1984) 21:54    Hollan Holmes - A Precarious Trajectory(Phase Shift 2013) 27:35    Massergy - Cold White Smoke(Fire Opal 2019) 36:15    Stellardrone - Breathe In The Light(Between The Rings 2017) 40:56    Massergy - The Shepherdess(Fire Opal 2019) 50:42    Hollan Holmes - Enduro(The Spirits of Starlight 2014) 57:12    Hollan Holmes - Interstellar Lullaby(Incandescent 2015) 62:45    end

G’day everyone, it’s that time again to bring you more juicy tracks from our music world, to keep you entertained. If you can’t get enough of Berlin School , we have some cracking tracks in that style to satisfy your habit. There’s also a good mix of ambient to chill out, cinematic to experimental music to, from the US, Australia, Europe & the UK. Special mention must go to Keith Richie’s monumental release of the Maestro Interstellar Suite, a truly work of art in this field. We are again introducing classic tracks from the early years on forthcoming issues. Our chosen track is from the 1990 album, ‘The Dome’ by Ole Hojer Hansen. We pay our tribute to Jeff Koval known as Terra Ambient, who died to soon, at the age of 44, a sad lost to the ambient community. You can hear a track from his first album for the Spotted Peccary label, 'Wanderlust'. From my part of the world, Oz, we introduce you to Kl(aus), one of the very few bands we get from there, using vintage equipment to get that Berlin school improvised sound of the 70’s to the early 80’s period, take it away guys. February 10th 2013 - ‘Under the Stars’ takes you out for a magnificent in-space cinematic experience... music that came to us via e-mail, via postal, fresh new releases, items never to be forgotten anymore. First of all David Leckenby plays this dreamy and groovy track called ‘Home’; this one really kicks off the starry night you can expect this episode. The Kahvi label dropped a song in the box that we can’t stop playing here in Rotterdam... ‘When the Sun meets the Moon’ by 4T Thieves is not only a fantastic space track, it’s a song that should be on your iPod forever! Feel the groove, hear the unique chords, enjoy the magical sounds that Nik included in this track and follow the link in the shownotes to download it for free. The new Syngate release ‘Sparkling’ is a fact! TM Solver delivers a very modern piece of work, typical sequencial moods combined with super smooth synth leads... high production level, a personal and unique style of music that makes your day. Very cool! What can we say about the next move... from Paris to Tokyo, this is probably the best electronic/downtempo record made in 2012. Meet the guys from Connect.Ohm and their release ‘9980’. Indeed they come from France and Japan. They succeeded to create an album via the web. ‘9980’ makes you silent, this one goes deep, is it a dream or is it reality? It is an Ultimae./com release for sure: should be heard on the biggest PA/HiFi speaker set you can imagine. Let it all happen from there... Winter time in Rotterdam, good reason for some coolin’ down now with Darshan Ambient, his record ‘Falling Light’ is a true blessing; peaceful tunes during today’s show under the stars... Time for the next chapter as Michael Brückner demonstrates the art of composing with the album ‘100 Million Miles Under The Stars’. Escape from the world... yes, take a few moments to absorb everything shown to you. Michael has it all under control, his synths, his thoughts, your thoughts, your moods, let this track surprise you! The Ouddorp takes continue.... we just love the album! Erren, Fleissig, Schottler and Steffen back on Spacemusic again. Especially the fact that this record was recorded in one take: Amazing! Impressive! Good food! Thanks to a tweet last week by Robert from Brisbane in Australia, we conclude this starry night with a special piece you might already know. We introduced our fleet to this song 7 years ago. Robert found this one really his favorite as the closing track of show #54 back in Spacemusic Season 1. Do you have any idea which track we play?... Hello and welcome to the year 2 0 1 1 - back online with new shows for you to check out. This is the first one made on Jan 16th. Sitting in the studio, thinking about all those great tracks… first let me tell you some  tracks didn’t make it to the 2010 end of year podcast; not because the tracks are not good enough… on the contrary: extremely good songs certainly worth to add to your libraries! Let’s start with Saycet from Paris, France. Also known as Pierre Lefeuvre. His second LP release after the first one back in 2006. Talking about ‘Through The Window’. a Fantastic album full of magic and haunting melodies, vocals by Phoene Somsavath. Call this experimental pop, call this electro-nu-jazz, call it music that goes with many different moments during the day and night. Play this one loud and enjoy the Saycet universe. And please, let Saycet know you have heard the music right here via the Spacemusic podcast, add a comment at his Myspace site for instance… Big thanks to Jana and Carl for the most splendid audio comment we have ever received by a Spacemusic listener… They are Northcore and it’s clear to me now we also have to thank this sound engineer at BBC World Service for  recording his collegues in the studio… Super! The Edge of a Fairytale is an ambient excursion to inner and outer spaces. Inspired and influenced by ancient myths, legends and places, this album is my soundtrack to the world as we perceive it; balancing between the known and the unknown - on The Edge of a Fairytale. "...the deep, rich and mystifying sound that resides on The Edge of a Fairytale has a somewhat dark point of view. However it is not a darkness of evil, but rather one that dwells within the uncharted realms between truth and fiction; a darkness representing an unknown that we travel through while always optimistic that there is light - or enlightenment - to be found somewhere ahead." Deborah Martin's passion is to visualize and create music that takes each listener on a journey through time and space. With a vivid imagination and a deep love of historic places and peoples of the past, we see her as being blessed; for they are few, those visionaries, who can bring forth into the present, and into our hearts, the spirit of that which has been so utterly lost in antiquity. Erik Wollo grew up in a small mountain village in Norway where his ancestors have lived and farmed for hundreds of years. Weaving through this exotic and timeless landscape of snowy peaks and deep valleys, you can still hear the music of those centuries flowing through a people whose culture is deep, alive and thriving. [ad#post-ad] Here we are: the Jukebox plays the title song of the album "Between Worlds" performed by these two great ambient artists. Deborah shares some insight into the essence of the work, "The American Indian believes there are two worlds - the world of spirit and the world of form. Creating a bridge between the two worlds are ritual, healing and magic. The music process presented here was created to represent with sound this bridge between the worlds." Erik adds, "It is important to hear the voices of the past and how they lived in tune with the rhythm and spirit of the earth. With Between Worlds, we delved deeply into the experience, capturing the feeling of this American Indian heritage with sounds and compositions." Spacemusic.nl says about this album: "swept away from the present into an imaginary world that happens to tell the truth and nothing but the truth" Artist: Deborah Martin and Erik Wollo Track: Between Worlds Album: Between Worlds Buy the album on iTunes Store here Visit the Spotted Peccary label here Jukebox copy; 2009 - spacemusic.nl

Have to say, took a second listening session before we got into the right stream sort of speak.... That's what the daily circumstances do to us. Start. You know what?... Let's leave the world for a couple of minutes and enjoy this coffee break more than ever! Why don't we fly to the edge of the unknow/known, why don't we experience 'The Edge of a Fairytale' by this great artist from Sweden: Between Interval. They did it again! Hi quality music from one of the most beautiful countries up North from our perspectives. Between Interval is Stefan Strand; he started playing around with sounds at the age of 14, inspired by Jean-Michel Jarre and the SEGA master system for instance. Later releasing house, trance and progressive music under a different name. The ambient motto never left Stefan: The Spotted Peccary label had an excellent nose for his style! They released his albums 'Radio Silence', 'Secret Observatory, 'Autumn Continent'. Stefan got 'top pick' album @ Amazon, Top List for new age in 2006 and 2007. On today's show we play 3 tracks in a row from his latest new ambient adventure sent to us by Spotted Peccary themselves: "The Edge of a Fairytale". Tracks are simply deep... (sounds from the woods and the rain are not included on the album!) There's a mystical tone, some might say: nbsp;-dark- ? Well, that is 'dark' in the sense of 'not knowing what to expect'. Stefan invites us to experience what we know and what we don't know at all.... Are you in? Enjoy the music, enjoy the recipe.
