Jupiter remains near the Hyades. The moon visits Venus and Saturn. Mercury continues on its way out of the morning sky. And Earth is getting farther away from the sun. But if you think that's why it's cold where you are now, you're wrong.

For those who are caught in the throes of winter, it’s hard to believe, but it’s true – Earth is snuggling closest to the Sun for the entire year this week. We’ll be at our absolute closest tomorrow, at about 91 and a half million miles – about a million and a half miles closer than average. That change in distance doesn’t make much difference in the temperature – Earth’s oceans and atmosphere do a good job of distributing heat around the globe. Instead, the seasons are caused by Earth’s tilt on its axis. At this time of year, the south pole tips toward the Sun, so the southern hemisphere sees longer days. That means there’s more sunlight to warm things up. And the Sun climbs higher in the sky, so its rays fall most directly on the southern hemisphere, making it warmer still. It’s the reverse of that north of the equator. The north pole tilts away from the Sun, so the days are short and the Sun stays low in the sky. And the farther north you go, the lower the Sun appears. Just north of the Arctic Circle, in fact, there’s no sunlight at all. Most of the United States sees about 9 or 10 hours of sunlight. But the Sun’s at such a low angle that it doesn’t warm things up much. That will change over the coming months, though. The Sun is moving slowly northward, so it’ll climb higher in northern skies, and stay in view longer. It’ll peak in a bit less than six months – when Earth is farthest from the Sun. This presentation was recorded on April 7th, 2024 at the first DemystifySci conference in Austin TX. Dr. Pierre-Marie Robitaille presents an overview of his multi-decadal quest to understand the material basis of the stars. He also reveals a new theory to explain Mercury's anomalous precession - one that doesn't revert to warped spacetime or mathematical acrobatics. In the process, a clever solution to the mysterious solar cycles of magnetism is revealed, along with a possible mechanism for planetary formation, and sun spot production. Preston Dennett was the guest of the monthly UFO group in Winnipeg Canada. We discussed his 32 books on UFOs and Healing, UFO and drive-in Movies, UFOs and schools. Preston Dennett began investigating UFOs and the paranormal in 1986 when he discovered that his family, friends, and co-workers were having dramatic unexplained encounters. Since then, he has interviewed hundreds of witnesses and investigated various paranormal phenomena. He is a field investigator for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), a ghost hunter, a paranormal researcher, and the author of 32 books and more than 100 articles on UFOs and the paranormal. His articles have appeared in numerous magazines including Fate, Atlantis Rising, MUFON UFO Journal, Nexus, Paranormal Magazine, UFO Magazine, Mysteries Magazine, Ufologist and others. His writing has been translated into several different languages including German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Icelandic. He has appeared on numerous radio and television programs, including Coast-to-Coast and the History Channel's Deep Sea UFOs and UFO Hunters. His research has been presented in the LA Times, the LA Daily News, the Dallas Morning News and other newspapers. He has taught classes on various paranormal subjects and lectures across the United States. It might be winter here in the northern hemisphere, but the Sun is biggest and closest to us for the entire year today. Earth is at a point in its orbit called perihelion. The Sun is about 91.4 million miles away – about one and a half million miles closer than average. Earth's orbit isn't a perfect circle. Instead, it's an ellipse – a shape that looks like a slightly flattened circle. So over the course of a year, the Earth-Sun distance varies by about three percent. The oceans and atmosphere distribute heat around the planet, so the changing distance doesn't cause a change in global temperatures. The date of perihelion isn't fixed. Instead, it shifts forward by an average of about one day every 58 years. That's because Earth “wobbles” on its axis like a gyroscope that's running down. About 800 years ago, Earth was closest to the Sun on the winter solstice, in December. And about 4300 years from now, it'll be closest on the spring equinox, in March. The changing distance to the Sun doesn't create the seasons. Instead, the seasons are caused by Earth's tilt on its axis. But the distance to the Sun does have an impact on the seasons. Earth moves fastest in its orbit when it's closest to the Sun, and slowest when it's farthest away. That means the seasons are different lengths. November kicks off with a Saturn Close Approach and Conjunction. Who are we kidding? Right now through November 8th, the major players are the solar eclipse in Scorpio (October 25) to the Lunar Eclipse in Taurus (November 8) that just so happens to coincide with a close approach and lunar occultation of Uranus as well as a Mercury at superior solar conjunction. Not to mention, the very next day Uranus is at opposition. This sets the stage for a harmonization + integration party. Paired with November 9, for the first part of this month we are walking ourselves toward (and through) what will set the tone of major transformation. Welcome back to Crow Medicine. In the month of June we get the express pleasure of integrating and test driving Venusian and Marsian based energy through the framework of highlighted Aries. June is a month of integration and figuring out how to bring what we used to experience as 'opposite' energies into a more comfortable conversation with one another. This month is about learning to be assertive but not aggressive, healing the Aries archetype, and connecting to grounded Marsian forms of creativity. We are grounding our dreams, our metaphysical worlds are meeting the material realm, and things are happening. Spectrum wise, we have successfully opened up a higher harmonic Maris in Aries experience. Jupiter, the big integrator planet, will be powering our journey with Mars and gets the highlight spot on Solstice. This, along with the May 24 Mars into Aries and May 28/29 Jupiter and Mars close approach and conjunctions marked the seasonal turnover into our next phase of the journey. This month, July, and August we will be focusing on grounding the 'masculine' with the 'feminine' and removing the limitations that we have felt in either (or both) forms. The lesson is integration and, as I talk about in this report, that can sometimes feel messy. Key words: Boundaries, self-expression, personal safety, grounded experience, getting things done, 'keep on trucking' and finding the strength to achieve your goals. We may run into people living in the other archetypes or the harder harmonics. That does not mean we have to 'meet' them there.
