Sometimes in life, things can fall between the cracks of the sofa, only to spark joy on their rediscovery. DJ Maryalice live during Labor Day Weekend 2011 at the Boatslip Resort's infamous Tea Dance recaps the hits of the summer.
Hi again, and welcome to episode 45 of the regenerate podcast. it's a me, Phil wilshaw from Phoenix 6. Today we've got part 2 of my end of summer 2011 mix, recorded live at Gigalum on Sunday September 4th. This is a mix for the middle of the afternoon to enjoy in the sunshine with a pint, and it rolls through all sorts of electronic music in the usual eclectic regenerate style. The mix merges both blissed out and uplifting summer records, with some slightly deeper beats it also contains a few attempts at really deconstructing tracks to their bits, and gluing them back together in totally new ways. I was lucky enough to be able to experiment like this because no-one expects the DJ to fill the dancefloor at 4pm on a Sunday! If you enjoyed the set, don't forget to join myself and all of Phoenix 6 at Gigalum bar in south west london on Nov 12, for another great regenerate event. See you then, and don't forget to check out www.regeneratemusic.net for info. 1. James Zabiela - Blame (Tom Budden's Alive Remix) 2. Nova Fronteira - Calma (Original Mix) 3. Back in the dim and distant days of Tiny Dancing, when we didn't really exist and were not people of art, we used to talk about stuff and then make that talking available for people to listen to, if they were that way inclined. You know the type. Then we stopped doing that, didn't do anything at all for a bit, then started doing Tiny Dancing as a venerable publication of the great and the good, which you know about because we tell you about it often enough. But we'd stopped talking, and if there's one thing we at Tiny Dancing like more than beautiful illustration, writing, comics and other stuff, it's talking. So we've started again. We're calling this talking ‘Tiny Dancing Summer 2011', because it seemed topical and because we read an article about selling stuff on the interweb, and it said it was a good idea.
