When Revenue Isn't Enough With Edward Pritchett

Be Known w/ Rocky Garza

Welcome to The Rocky Garza Show, where I dive deep into the truths that shape extraordinary leaders. In today's episode, I have a powerful conversation with Edward Pritchett, and trust me—you don't want to miss this one.We explored what it truly means to create generational wealth, but even more importantly, what it means to be a generational breaker. Edward opened up about how he's using his life experiences to build the future he envisions, not just as a business owner but as a father and husband. What struck me most is that we didn't even focus on the success of his multimillion-dollar business. Instead, Edward shared the deeply personal struggles he still faces daily in order to lead the life he wants. He's learned that true success isn't just about revenue—it's about measuring impact, influence, and presence. This conversation is packed with raw honesty, actionable insights, and a perspective that challenges the way we define leadership. Let's dive in.About EdwardEdward Pritchett is a serial entrepreneur, financial expert, and insurance industry leader based in Dorado, Puerto Rico with his home office in Asheville, North Carolina. As a Managing Partner at Symmetry Financial Group and founder of the Pritchett Agency, Edward has empowered countless insurance agents to build thriving businesses while serving their clients with integrity and excellence. His innovative marketing strategies, passion for mentorship, and commitment to community have made him a sought-after voice in the industry.Beyond his work in insurance, Edward is the founder of the Camilla Foundation, which focuses the support of orphanages around the world and nursing education in Western NC, and co-founder of Boundless Properties, a real estate developer. Both of these organizations were instrumental in spearheading relief efforts after Hurricane Helene, helping the Western North Carolina community recover and rebuild.Edward's entrepreneurial spirit is complemented by his educational background at Yale and his desire for creating meaningful connections. He frequently shares insights on leadership, financial independence, and team-building on his YouTube channel, Life Insurance Today, and social media platforms. In his free time, Edward enjoys exploring the world, spending time with his family, and doing something physical, which sometimes includes eating a delicious meal. He is also the author of Tax-Free Living, a guide to legally minimizing taxes while maximizing wealth and legacy.Edward's Background and Early LifeEdward was born in Mobile, Alabama, in a family rich in wisdom but lacking financial stability. His childhood was filled with love and strong values, but there was always a missing piece. He remembers moments where, despite having supportive parents and siblings, financial struggle was a constant reality. One defining memory was shopping at Payless while classmates wore Nike sneakers—drawing his own swoosh on knockoff shoes to fit in. It wasn't about material things; it was about feeling different, about wanting more than what his circumstances allowed. That experience planted a seed. He wanted to break the cycle. But for years, he didn't know how.Realizing the Missing PieceAs Edward grew older, he became immersed in personal development—reading books, setting goals, creating vision boards. He thought he was following the right steps, yet success wasn't showing up the way he expected. He blamed external factors. He assumed others had the real secret and weren't sharing it. This mindset stuck with him through college and into his early career. Then the Great Recession hit. It was a turning point. He lost his job and, instead of blaming the economy, he finally asked himself the hard question:What am I missing?A mentor challenged him to stop waiting for success to come to him and start making it happen through him. That shift—from entitlement to responsibility—changed everything.Breaking Generational CursesEdward learned that breaking cycles isn't just about money. Generational curses come in many forms—mindset, habits, limiting beliefs. He had to change not just how he worked, but how he thought. He realized that success isn't about following a script. It's about ownership. It's about recognizing blind spots and actively filling the gaps. That's how he moved from struggle to building a life of abundance—not just financially, but in every area of life.Balancing Family and AmbitionOne of Edward's biggest ongoing challenges isn't financial—it's balancing ambition with his role as a husband and father. For years, he believed that providing financially was enough. If he worked hard and built wealth, his family would be taken care of. But he soon realized that his presence mattered far more than his paycheck. His wife confronted him about it. His kids were growing up, and while he was “working for them,” he wasn't with them. That moment forced him to reassess his priorities. Now, he approaches work and family differently:He doesn't let his work drain all his energy before he gets home.He involves his wife in planning his travel schedule. He prioritizes quality family time, ensuring his kids don't feel like second place to his business.Setting and Achieving Personal GoalsEdward believes in setting goals beyond financial success. Six years ago, he adopted a structured goal-setting system across four areas:Career Goals – Business and financial growth.Personal Goals – Developing as a leader, husband, and father.Adventure Goals – Creating memorable life experiences.Contribution Goals – Giving back and making an impact. One of his major personal goals this year? Becoming fluent in Spanish. He's actively working on it through daily practice, tutoring, and immersion opportunities. He and his wife also take an annual retreat to align their goals as a couple—ensuring they're building their life together, not just existing side by side.Final Thoughts and ReflectionsEdward's story is a reminder that success isn't just about revenue or achievements—it's about alignment between conviction and ambition.I want you to ask yourself:Am I allowing ambition to overshadow what truly matters?Am I chasing success out of passion, or am I running from failure?Where do I need to redefine what “winning” looks like?Ambition alone won't create a fulfilling life. The key is clarity—knowing why you're chasing your goals and ensuring they align with what truly matters.Resources MentionedEdward's website: https://pritchettagency.com/ Follow Edward: @iamedwardpritchettEdward's Facebook https://www.facebook.com/PritchettAgency/ Join my upcoming free LIVE workshop: Leading Without Losing YourselfKey Timestamps00:00 Introduction to the Rocky Garza Show01:56 Edward Pritchett's Background and Early Life04:59 Realizing the Missing Piece07:46 Breaking Generational Curses13:58 Balancing Family and Ambition22:50 Setting and Achieving Personal Goals33:19 Final Thoughts and ReflectionsTo join Rocky for his next free virtual event, go to https://rockygarza.com/beyondsuccessSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/trgs/donations
