Take 10 with Tim – May 23, 2025 @ 9:30 am 1.I know everyone loves Juan Soto, but with eight home runs and a .247 batting average after 30% of the games played this season, it looks a lot like 2022 when he hit 27 home runs and had a .242 average. He is stealing bases, which helps, but should owners be worried? Is this the player they drafted?a.He's also been criticized for his lack of hustle. Do you think that now that he's being paid, he's lost something?2.Sal Perez and Adley Rutschman hit home runs on Wednesday. It was Adley's first home run since April 20, and he's barely hitting above the Mendoza line. Perez last hit a home run on April 13 and is also just above the Mendoza line. Who are you more concerned about for the rest of the season?3.Dylan Crews will be out for a while after suffering an oblique strain on Tuesday. Robert Hassell III gets the call. He's far from the player everyone expected when he was drafted by the Padres in the first round in 2020, but he's played alright this season, with a .288 batting average, four home runs, and nine stolen bases. What do you expect, and how long do you think he'll be out?4.Patrick Corbin looked like he was playing out the string after signing that great contract with Washington. He went unowned in most leagues. This year, he's been a different guy. Pitching for Texas, he's won three games and posting a 3.59 ERA. However, he's not striking out many (6.75 K/9) and his xERA is 4.56.a.You can't sell high (maybe you can), but what do you do here? Keep starting him every week? Pick and choose based on matchups? Something else?5.In the past three games, Will Warren has a record of 2-0, with a 1.50 ERA and a 13:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He has lowered his ERA to 4.05. Is this merely a hot streak, or are we witnessing a breakout?6.Matt Shaw returns to the Cubs, and Moises Ballesteros is sent down. This is Shaw's second chance. Will this time be better?7.Rank the Top 10 pitchers you would like to own over the rest of the season.1)Skubal2)Skenes3)Yamamoto4)Wheeler5)Fried6)Brown7)deGrom8)Senga9)Bibee10)Warren8.If something pops up today, we will include9.What one hitter are you targeting in this weekend's FAAB?Robert Hassell III (OF, Was)10.What one pitcher are you targeting in this weekend's FAAB?Daniel Palenecia (RHP, CHC)

Fantasy Baseball Live – May 18, 2025Microsoft Teams:Segments 1 and 2 – Review games of the weekendAdditional Notes1.Surprise, surprise, the Orioles fired their manager and then promptly lost their next game. They have a team ERA of 5.42, which ranks last in the American League and is the third worst in MLB. I understand that this happens (blame the manager), but ownership claimed they would spend money and simply have not. Thoughts?a.Oddly, the Marlins are among the teams with a worse ERA than the Orioles. Let's examine their rotation.2.Matthew Lugo with another home run on Saturday.3.Clayton Kershaw got a start, and it didn't go very well. His fastball maxed out at 90.9 MPH. Is Kershaw the new Tommy Malone?a.Will he have success?4.Seth Halvorsen got the save opportunity in Colorado. It was the first save opportunity in over two weeks. Do we care about this?5.Remember when Rafael Devers was struggling. Fantasy Baseball Live – May 11, 2025 – 3:00 pmSegments 1 and 2 – Review of the weekend gamesMicrosoft Teams:Additional Questions:1.Are the Padres this good, or are the Rockies this bad? They lost 13-9 on Friday, 21-0 on Saturday, and we shouldn't forget about the doubleheader loss to the Tigers on Thursday (21-3). The Rockies' run differential is -134, having nearly lapped the second-worst run differential in the league, the Baltimore Orioles. 2.Corbin Burnes shoved against the Dodgers on Saturday. Good to see.3.Cade Horton wins his first game as the bulk innings guy. Were you happy with what you saw?4.Ranger Suarez looked great in his second outing, but It was against the Guardians. He has Pittsburgh next Friday. Are you starting him?a.Lance McCullers was awful yesterday. I started him against the White Sox and danced with the devil, but not yesterday. Should I be done with him or keep him on my bench for a while? His sinker (fastball) is down to 91.6 MPH, and while his slider is still missing bats, it got destroyed, as did his change-up.5.Casey Mize hits the IL with a hamstring strain. This one hurt for me as I have him in a number of leagues. Assuming a short IL stint, I still look at the matchup before starting him, but he has yet to have a blow up. Should I start him with confidence going forward?6.Jasson Dominguez had three home runs on Friday. Judge with two more home runs on Saturday and is now leading the league with 14 and batting average (.396). Just a ridiculous start to the season.Segment 3 – Waiver WireSegment 4 – Closer ReportClose

Mine are the following:a.Adley Rutschman – I was worried entering the season since he doesn't hit the ball that hard, but I heard so many excuses from listeners, I believed them. But, he's batting .212 with four home runs and 10 RBIs.i.Remember Matt Weiters?b.Yordan Alvarez – What the heck happened? .210 batting average and 3 home runsc.Jordan Walker - .196, 2 home runs and 2 SB. You gotta hand it to the Cards, at least they are playing him. I fear this isn't going to end well.4.Noelvi Marte leaves Wednesday's game with a grade two left oblique strain. The Sox have dismissed the idea of moving Devers to first. How does the infield look after this injury?a.Could they move Wilyer Abreu to first and promote Roman Anthony?2.Jake Meyers had himself a game. He went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs. He's still Jake Meyers, right?3.Corbin Burnes has struggled this season and will now miss his next start. He's got a 3.58 ERA (5.31 xERA) and only striking out 7.7 per nine. 4.Kyle Stowers had a big game on Saturday and is hitting .324 with six home runs entering games on Sunday. Granted, it was the Tigers, but I wrote a long post about him to our Patreon members, indicating that the data looked pretty good. They are using that fifth spot in the rotation, soon to be sixth as a minor league start. They've used Justin Wrobleski, Bobby Miller, and Landon Knack. Knack has pitched the best. Is he worth a grab, or with Ohanti and Gonsolin due back, should you avoid the entire situation?6.I saw where you were able to trade for Shane Baz in our Dynasty League and, surprisingly, it didn't cost you much. Is this anything more than a hot start?2.Paul Goldschmidt is off to a great start, or at least he's posted a great BA of .365 and hitting in a lot in the leadoff spot, has seven runs. Unfortunately, he's only hit one home run. Rebirth in New York or a 37-year-old in decline?3.JT Ginn pitched a gem on Saturday against the Mets. It's a power-sinker with a true outpitch, but I'm assuming he'll be on your waiver wire.4.It's been a long wait for Matt Mervis, but he hit his fourth home run on Saturday and is hitting .300 for the Marlins. There are players better than him in the minor leagues, but he's not giving up the ghost. They overachieved with Acuna last season. Are they underachieving so far in 2025?7.Tanner Bibee got rocked by the Angels of all teams.8.Jesse Winker went 2 for 4 with two triples. Kind of a weird stat line. Winker, in my view, is sneaky good as a fifth outfielder, but I don't think the Mets agree as he's clearly in a platoon role at DH with Starling Marte.Segment 3 – Waiver WireSegment 4 – Closer ReportClose
Take 10 with Tim – April 4, 20251.The talk all week has been about the Torpedo bat. It's funny that Franciso Lindor used it all last season and was a Top 3 finalist in MVP, and nobody said a thing. But, the Yankees hit nine home runs in a game, and the whole world goes crazy. Three of them were hit by the Judge, who doesn't use the bat.a.Is this something that could make a real difference or just a blip like the hockey handle was a few years ago?2.Overreacting to the first-week statistics. Any interest in NL-only or deeper mixed leagues?7.Dustin May pitched well earlier this week, but he got hit hard, and his velo is not what it was before his multiple surgeries. In 2023, his fastball averaged 97.3. On Monday, he averaged 95.4 MPH. It does appear he dropped his cutter and is now throwing he's sweeper a ton. Given its spin and movement, it's a devasting pitch.a.Dunno, what do you think? Is this someone you start with confidence?8.How about Casey Mize? He had a similar dominating outing as May and also, his stuff was not as hot as 2024. His fastball was down over a mile per hour. He did have crazy whiff rates on his pitches. His splitter, which has always been his best pitch, received a 71% whiff rate.a.Now, here's the rub, his opponent was the Mariners in Seattle. Fantasy Baseball Live – February 16 2025 @ 3 pm ETSegment 1 – News and Notes1.Alex Bregman finally signed with Boston for three years and $120 million. While it wasn't a lengthy deal, the AAV of $40 is tremendous. Of course, he can opt-out after each year.a.Let's examine the Boston Red Sox lineup to see what shakes out given that there is a strong possibility he plays second.2.Many thought the Padres were sellers, but they signed Nick Pivetta to a four-year, $55 million contract.a.He had a solid season in 2024 – 172 Ks in 142 IP with a 4.14 ERA. Fantasy Baseball Live – February 9, 2025 @ 3 PM ETSegment 1 – News and Notes1.The Mets re-upped with Pete Alonso on a two-year deal. The league has learned its lesson from hulking First Base sluggers like Alonso, and consequently, it's become more challenging for them to land the big contract.a.Your thoughts on the deal. Are there any changes at all in where you draft him2.Phew. Jack Flaherty managers give a sigh of relief when he re-upped with the Tigers for a two-year deal that is front-loaded with an opt-out. So, assuming he doesn't get hurt, he'll likely opt out. a.Will he be more of the 2024 version on the 2022-23 pitcher? 3.The Angels were at it again, signing Yoan Moncada to a one-year, $5 million contract. a.This is why I'm so critical of the Angels. This is a dumb deal to me. He hasn't been able to stay healthy, and if it weren't for a .406-fueled 2019 season, where he hit 25 home runs and batted.315, I'm not sure anybody would be thinking about him. Not to lead the witness, but what do you think? Am I all wet?4.Well the Tirso Ornelas came crashing down when the Padres signed the power-couple duo of Jason Heyward and Connor Joe. Oh well. Thoughts.Segment 2 – AL West1.Houston Astrosa.Isaac Paredes 2025 stat line: HR, RBI, and BAi.Will he be a downgrade from Alex Bregman, upgrade, or about the same?b.Chas McCormack (608.80 ADP), Jake Meyers (611.36), and Taylor Trammell (750.51) are the projected starting outfield. We've discussed previously about how weak it is. Do you have any interest?i.Over/Under Pedro Leon of 200 ABsc.Luis Garcia had TJS in 2023 and should be a full go this spring. In his last full season in 2022, he was pretty good. His ADP is 365. Is he a sneaky add in a draft?d.Spencer Arrighetti pitched to a 5.63 ERA in the first half and a 3.18 in the second. His batting average against went from .268 to .226. Any interest. His ADP is 216.9e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)2.Los Angeles Angelsa.True or False. Mike Trout will win a World Series with the Angels before his career ends.i.Stat line for Trout: AB, HR, SB, BAb.Jo Adell's ADP is 290.89 and he's going as the 71st outfielder off the board. He hits the ball extremely hard and sprint speed in the 86th percentile. There is going to be pressure on his batting average as he doesn't make great contact. However, if he gets playing time, isn't there 20-20 potential here?i.Will he get the playing time?c.Yoan Moncada stat line for 2025: AB, HR, and BAd.Nolan Schanuel – Over/Under 15 home runse. Is Kikuchi more like the Astros version in 2025 or more like the “every other” season for the Angels in 2025?i.We will look at where he's going in drafts.f.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)3.Athleticsa.Tyler Soderstrom was a top prospect for several years, but has yet to establish himself in the Majors. Will he this year or will Kurtz beat him to the punch?i.Nick Kurtz 2025 stat line: AB, HR, BAb.Lawrence Butler went 22 and 18 in 451 PAs last year. Over/Under 50 combined SB and HR for 2025?c.Who would you rather roster: Luis Severino (290.0) or Jeffrey Springs (239.3)?d.Will Mason Miller be on the Athletics on August 1?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)4.Seattle Marinersa. In one of our Dynasty League startups, I considered drafting Victor Robles but couldn't pull the trigger. I studied the data, and while he stole 34 bases last season, he's not a burner with sprint speeds in the 63rd percentile. A .370 BABIP drove his .307 batting average, and given his poor exit velocity, I don't see that sticking or much power. Am I too low on Robles? I don't get the hype, as he's going as the 49th OF off the board. b.One of our Patreon members reminded me that we don't talk enough about Seattle's poor hit park factors (T-Mobile). It's last in the league. Should this give you pause at the draft table for guys like J-Rod, Raleigh, and Arozarena?c.Will Julio Rodriguez be drafted in the first round in 2026?d.Do you think the Mariners should trade one of their big starters for some offense? If so, who would you suggest?i.An ideal trading partner would be the Orioles.e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)5.Texas Rangersa.Evan Carter state line for 2025: AB, HR, SB, and BAi. Will he be a full-time or platoon player by mid-season?b.Adolis Garcia had a down season in 2025. Although his speed has decreased, he still hits the ball extremely hard. Do you think he's more of a 30 to 35-home-run guy or a 25-home-run guy with pressure on his batting average?i.We will look at where he is being drafted and look at other players around himc.Do we see the break out of Wyatt Langford in 2025?i.He will be _______________ round pick in 2026.d.RosterResource lists Chris Martin as the closer in Texas. Are you buying that?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)

Do you see a split in save opportunities or do you believe Scott will still be the guy who gets the most save chances?2.The Braves sign Jurickson Profar to a three-year, $42 million deal. He had a breakout season at age 31 last year with the Padres. His hard-hit rates went way up, and he's one of the best in the league at controlling the strike zone. The speed is modest. On paper, he looks great, but is he? What do you think?3.The A's sign 18-year-old Shotaro Morri. He's a two-way player who hit 45 home runs in high school and can hit 95 MPH off the mound. He's 38 but will be playing in his hometown. a.Do you think he could sneak some saves this season? 4.The Blue Jays signed Jeff Hoffman last night to a $33 million, 3-year deal. It wasn't a big signing, but it's being reported that the Blue Jays indicate he might get the chance to close.a.What say you.b.A lot of people don't remember that the Blue Jays originally drafted him ninth overall in 2014 but then sent him packing to Colorado for Troy Tulowitzki. Yet, another in a long list of Rockies' pitcher experiments.Segment 2 – First Base Preview1.How are you approaching this position for your upcoming drafts?2.We will break down the top 15 to 20 in detail.
