The latest round of voting for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game was recently released, and while Shohei Ohtani unsurprisingly leads all players in votes, there is someone on the American League side who is just 300,000 votes away from matching the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar. The shocking part is that it's not Aaron Judge or Yordan Alvarez, but rather Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Ernie Clement. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the sudden surge in support for the standout player from the Blue Jays' World Series run last season and why Ernie Clement is garnering so much fan support. They then take a look at another second baseman making waves: Jazz Chisholm Jr., who was caught playing the field with a lollipop in his mouth, drawing the ire of manager Aaron Boone. Later, Jake and Jordan are joined by Miami Marlins play-by-play broadcaster Jack McMullen to discuss the Tartan Army's invasion of Miami, what the experience was like during games and a couple of players who should be headed to the Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia. The guys then wrap up the show by discussing the disappointing press conference held by San Francisco Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey, recapping the College World Series championship game and highlighting a wild matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals. 1:35 - The Opener: Surprising All-Star Game voting update 9:56 - Jazz Chisholm Jr. & the lollipop 19:35 - Jack McMullen joins the show 45:05 - We Need To Talk About: Buster Posey press conference 1:01:02 - College World Series recap 1:06:36 - Wild game in Washington Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

A staggering wave of superstar injuries has completely derailed fantasy baseball rosters, leaving managers scrambling for answers on the waiver wire. Corey Pieper breaks down a massive slate of breaking news, spectacular rookie pitching performances, costly duds, and the daily FanDuel Bet of the Day. The injury bug bit hard on Thursday night as fantasy royalty hit the shelf. Bobby Witt Jr. was forced to exit early with a right knee injury and is undergoing further medical testing, while Trea Turner left his ballgame after being struck by a pitch in the calf. Mike Trout lands on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. was knocked out early following a painful shot to the groin. Meanwhile, Adley Rutschman struggled through a hitless, two-strikeout performance after taking a throw directly to the head. On the mound, the Milwaukee Brewers suffer a crushing blow as breakout right-hander Quinn Priester is officially ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season to undergo thoracic outlet decompression surgery. On the bright side, Wenceel Perez is managing a facial injury, Jose Soriano is expected to take the bump today after skipping his Thursday start with chest discomfort, and superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor is finally set to launch his minor league rehab assignment this Friday. Despite the medical chaos, a brilliant group of young arms took center stage. Gage Jump turned in a masterclass performance, firing seven brilliant innings of one-hit ball with seven strikeouts to completely shut down the Angels. Parker Messick flashed his best velocity of the season, racking up nine strikeouts over six innings of two-run ball against Milwaukee. Bryan Woo was absolutely flawless, spinning seven scoreless frames with nine strikeouts, matching a spectacular nine-strikeout duel against Shane Baz. Sean Burke excelled as a bulk follower behind opener Bryan Hudson, striking out eight over 7.1 brilliant innings against Ryan Weathers. Joe Ryan cruised through five scoreless frames, and Trey Yesavage battled veteran Sonny Gray in a gritty seven-inning showdown. Offensively, Juan Soto blasted two solo home runs, Wyatt Langford and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. both cleared the fence, and nearly the entire Kansas City starting lineup crossed the plate for a run, with only Nick Loftin missing out on the scoring barrage. On the negative side of the ledger, young arms hit a wall as Jack Leiter was shelled for six earned runs in just four innings, while Matthew Liberatore was lit up for seven runs in a brief 1.2-inning nightmare. High-profile bats completely frozen at the plate include Braden Montgomery falling below the .200 mark after a multi-strikeout collar, Jasson Dominguez and Brandon Marsh both punching out repeatedly, and Cal Raleigh enduring an ugly four-strikeout night to drop his average to .164, alongside quiet nights from Bo Bichette, Gunnar Henderson, Joc Pederson, and Brice Turang. Finally, we map out the weekend pitching landscape in our Pitching Planner, highlighting the upcoming returns of Mick Abel and Troy Melton, Jared Jones traveling into the thin air of Colorado, and a look at Shane Drohan. The New York Yankees started the season on fire, opening with an 8–2 record and sparking thoughts about whether this could be a team that rivaled their infamous 1998 campaign. However, they're not the only team in town dealing with a losing streak and major concerns. Jazz Chisholm Jr needs to learn the rules of baseball and faith in David Bednar remains high.
Two weeks into the 2026 MLB season and it is already completely unhinged. Both New York teams are simultaneously on five-game losing streaks — a first in MLB history — and somehow that's not even the wildest part of the week. The Yankees started 8-2 and looked like the class of the AL East. Then the bats went completely silent — a .199 team average, 29th in baseball — and five straight losses followed. The rotation has been elite, but the offense can't cash in. And then Jazz Chisholm Jr., in a contract year where he's demanding $35 million annually, blamed the cold weather for his slow start and then cost his team an extra-innings game by admitting he didn't know the force out rule. His manager's defense? “That's just what he says to reporters.” Which is somehow worse. The Mets aren't in much better shape. Juan Soto is on the IL with a calf strain and not close to being cleared to run. Francisco Lindor — two-time Gold Glover, $341 million man — has been making mental errors his own manager says he's “never seen.” Forgotten outs. Getting picked off adjusting his batting gloves. Leaving second base completely uncovered. Four straight losses and an offense that can't hit with runners in scoring position.Meanwhile in Pittsburgh, Konnor Griffin debuted at 19 years old, played six games, and signed a $140M extension — the richest rookie deal in MLB history, locking him in alongside Cy Young winner Paul Skenes through 2034. José Ramírez hit a home run against his 29th different team AND broke a franchise games-played record that had stood since 1918 — in the same week. Mason Miller still hasn't allowed a run since last season. And Drake Baldwin is leading the league in RBIs through two weeks. Two weeks in.
