It looked like a good night to be a Los Angeles Dodgers fan. Shohei Ohtani pitched really well for six innings, Ryan Ward hit his first career grand slam, and the Dodgers carried a 6-1 lead into the seventh. But Ohtani ran out of gas a little bit on the mound, and then Kyle Hurt and Jack Dreyer really made a mess of things in the eighth inning, and LA dropped game two of their series in Pittsburgh by a score of 9-8 (despite a two-run homer from Ohtani in the ninth inning). Take 10 with Tim – May 29, 2026 @ 9:15 am1.David Sandlin and Gage Jump made their MLB debut this week.a.Sandlin (RHP, CHW) – 6.0 IP, 1 hit, 1 ER, 4K/0BB; FB: 97.7 mph (T 99.3), CB: 29% whiff rateb.Gage Jump (LHP, ATH) – 5.0 IP, 9 hits, 4 ER, 5K/1BB; FB: 95.9 mph (T 97.9); SL 45% whiff rate; sweeper 33% whiff ratec.Jump is the more heralded as the Red Sox had moved Sandlin to the bullpen, but after the trade to the White Sox and moving back to the rotation, and had him throw his curveball more, he's been better. Jump of course pitches half his games in Sacramentod.Who will you make the larger bid this weekend?2.Teoscar Hernandez pulls a hammy and will be lost for a few weeks. Tommy Edman is due back soon, and then there's Alek Thomas or Ryan Ward. I'm guessing you're not too interested, given the situation, or are you?a.I'm assuming when Tommy Edman is ready to return, he'll be the Dodgers' second baseman. Is that how you see it?b.I got an interesting text from a Patreon member discussing all the potential bad contracts looming for the Dodgers. Let's look at their roster and see if we can figure out what they will do in a few years.i.Los Angeles Dodgers 2026 Financial Summaryii. Here's how I responded:1.Question: We hold up the Dodgers as the exemplar org in baseball, but many of their big contracts are going to start looking very bad, as soon as next year. Is it possible that their model actually turns sour? 2.My Response: “I think that's been their strategy. Play for today and worry about tomorrow some other day. Remember, they also have a bunch of deferred money kicking in with Ohtani, etc. one thought is as they deal with the bad contracts, they promote all their young kids as cheap alternatives as the Mookies of the world become backup players. So cheap everyday players and expensive backups. Besides Betts and Smith, freeman, Tucker, Teoscar all are done in three more years. The strategy might work. I will say that Smith's contract looks the worse but he's also the most reasonable. They might have to buy him out. Mookie should be ok for next 2 years and then, his will really look ugly”3.Tatsuya Imai was involved in a no-hitter this week. He danced around four walks over six innings and then turned it over to the bullpen. It wasn't pretty, but he's in the history books.a.I'm assuming you are still concerned?b.How should I view him moving forward?4.Let's take a look at the standings5.Top Ranked Fantasy Players according to Fantrax. Freddy Peralta Trade Rumors The Dodgers remain involved in Freddy Peralta trade discussions, according to Jon Heyman and Ken Rosenthal, with Héctor Gómez reporting that LA is aggressively engaged. • Brewers seeking MLB-ready talent, preferably pitching with team control • Peralta owed $8M in 2026 before free agency • Andrew Friedman says the Dodgers are not in on starting pitching. Do we believe him? Kyle Tucker Press Conference Takeaways • Why LA felt like the right fit • Addressing narratives about his passion for baseball • Friedman on Tucker's demeanor and competitiveness • Why Tucker chose the Dodgers over other offers • Wearing No. 23 in honor of Michael Brantley • Why No. 30 stayed with Dave Roberts More Dodgers News • Reaction to the Hall of Fame Class of 2026 – Jeff Kent – Carlos Beltrán – Andruw Jones • Bobby Miller and Ryan Ward reportedly being shopped • Rosenthal reports the Dodgers are likely keeping Teoscar Hernández Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. On this episode of the Three-Inning Save podcast, we usher in the official start of the MLB offseason. Seven Dodgers became free agents on November 2, the morning after the World Series, including Kiké Hernández, Miguel Rojas, and a retiring Clayton Kershaw. Max Muncy ($10 million) and Alex Vesia ($3.65 million) had their club options exercised by the Dodgers. Tony Gonsolin was designated for assignment as he recovers from his second major elbow surgery. First baseman/outfielder Ryan Ward and left-handed pitcher Robinson Ortiz were added to the 40-man roster before they could become minor league free agents. Justin Dean, the late-inning defensive specialist who played 13 postseason games for the Dodgers but did not bat, was claimed off waivers by the Giants. Michael Grove, who missed all of 2025 after shoulder surgery, was also sent outright to the minors, off the 40-man roster. The Three-Inning Save is part of the Fans First Sports Network. The Los Angeles Dodgers had until Thursday to decide whether to exercise their club options on Max Muncy and Alex Vesia, and both turned out to be easy decisions, so Muncy and Vesia will be back with LA next year. A little bit harder were some other decisions. The Dodgers had to make room on the 40-man roster for Muncy, and then they needed two more spots when they selected the contracts of minor-leaguers Ryan Ward and Robinson Ortiz. In the end, the roster casualties were former All-Star starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin, World Series defensive replacement Justin Dean, and former pitching prospect Michael Grove. Clint Pasillas, Jeff Snider, and Kevin Skinner are here to talk all about these moves and what might be next. Tube in all offseason long! What's next for the Lakers — and what can the new generation learn from the legends that built the game? In this episode of The CJ Moneyway Sh$w, CJ sits down with Ryan Ward, long-time Lakers Nation reporter and NBA analyst, to break down the truth about this year's Lakers roster, what went wrong in the playoffs, and how the team can rebuild to championship form. From honest talk about Anthony Davis and LeBron's leadership to the missing rim protection that cost the Lakers their postseason run, Ryan brings years of insider perspective — and CJ brings the passion that only a true fan can. The conversation doesn't stop at stats — it turns into a masterclass on mindset, legacy, and leadership. CJ and Ryan dig deep into what made Kobe Bryant's Mamba Mentality timeless — why his alley-oop to Shaq in the 2000 Western Conference Finals still defines what it means to never quit. They also debate the league's shifting power: from OKC's youth movement and Minnesota's rise to potential blockbuster trades involving Giannis Antetokounmpo, and how those moves could shape the NBA for the next decade. Whether you're a Lakers fan, a basketball purist, or a dreamer chasing greatness — this episode is a reminder that every season, like every life, is built brick by brick. 0:00 ... Ross hello, welcome, and introduces the gang ... 1:14 ... Ross dedicates episode #150 to Zach "Zeebo" Randolph, who wore #50 in his long NBA career. 1:24 ... Ross live commercial read for BetOnLine ... 2:02 ... Bruce introduces tonight's guest, Lakers reporter Ryan Ward 2:40 ... Ryan shares his thoughts on the "Running Point" series on MAX that is based on Lakers owner Jeanie Buss 3:58 ... "World B" points out how streaky the Lakers have been in March and Ryan shares his thoughts on how the team goes on "Benders" at times and remains a puzzle as to how far they're capable of going in the playoffs. 6:11 ... Ross asks what the biggest difference is when LeBron is on the floor vs. when he is not.  Ryan has a great analytical point about how the spacing is affected when LeBron is on the floor. 8:10 ... Ross points out that when Luka Doncic is running the offense, there is better motion in LA's offense and Ryan points out how LeBron causes the motion to stop when he has the ball at the top of the key. 9:50 ... Bruce asks Ryan whether LA has what it takes to win key games down the stretch and secure the #2 seeding in the west.  Ryan feels they do not.  He is concerned that the Lakers could fold quickly in the playoffs. 11:53 ... LA has really struggled on the road this season and Ryan points out that the Lakers had three straight "back to back" road games and sometimes they were guilty of playing down to the level of their opponents. 13:55 ... Bruce points out that Austin Reaves has been an outstanding "third wheel" with LeBron and Luka and Ryan explains how he continues to amaze and will be relied upon heavily in the playoffs.  Ryan sees comparisons between Reaves and Hall of Famer Manu Ginobili. 16:40 ... Ross asks Ryan how much LeBron's endorsement has meant to Reaves' development. 17:46 ... Rookie Dalton Knecht has been impressive after returning to the Lakers after having his trade to Charlotte rescinded.  Ryan doesn't really understand how coach JJ Redick is using him and thinks they may trade him again if they can get a quality big man in return. 19:39 ... The guys discuss JJ Redick's coaching job in his rookie year.  Ryan likes his intensity, passion, and intelligence. 21:09 ... Ross and Ryan discuss Redick's readiness to coach well in the playoffs. 22:52 ... LeBron James has been acting out lately with battles against ESPN's Stephen A. Smith and Brian Windhorst ... Ryan feels there is a "Wrestlemania" element to the whole thing.  Especially when LeBron did it on the Pat McAfee's show. 25:37 ... Bruce feels LeBron acted like a bully in his comments about Windhorst and Ryan feels like Stephen A. came out on top in this situation.  Ryan loves how Mike Wilbon also checked in with his thoughts on the whole thing. 28:11 ... Ross has two quick hitters about LeBron's positive comments on Giannis Antetokounmpo and also asked Ryan if he and LeBron ever locked horns over something Ryan wrote or said. 30:20 ... Bruce offers Ryan some advice on how he can mix it up with LeBron and make worldwide news if there is ever beef between them. 31:18 ... Ryan tells everyone how to find him on social media and shares an update on his "Jello Jigglin" podcast. 32:14 ... Show reset and discussion of the Boston Celtics, who won their 9th straight game on Monday night.  They appear to be peaking at the right time and are ready to flip the switch.  Bruce credits head coach Joe Mazzulla with guiding the team through a long season and giving his reserves lots of minutes so they can contribute in the postseason.  World B cautions that the Celtics starting lineup has not been as dominant as we expected. 38:08 ... Ross expands the discussion on how Boston's bench has stepped up and how it bodes well for the postseason.  Bruce points out the value of veteran Al Horford and what a luxury it is that Boston has him. 38:24 ... The Taylor Jenkins firing is a head scratcher and Bruce is angry that the Grizzlies GM has not really given a good explanation as to why it was done.  Bruce is concerned how the lack of information about the firing casts a cloud over Jenkins since some may suspect him of "shenanigans" when there may not have been any.  World B feels like the Grizzlies team has tailed off badly in the second half of the season. 41:37 ... Ross wants Suns owner Mat Ishbia to hire Jenkins as the lead assistant for Mike Budenholzer and run the offense in Phoenix. 42:43 ... The Milwaukee Bucks are a hot mess with Damian Lillard out indefinitely ... Bruce thinks former head coach Adrian Griffin might be laughing at the situation he left behind since he was fired with a 30-13 record last season and the Bucks have been pretty "meh" since then, winning just 59 of 113 games.  None of the guys feel the Bucks are capable of winning a playoff series at this point. 46:16 ... Breaking news!  PJ Tucker is signing a 2 year deal with the Knicks and will be a steady veteran presence.  Ross has high praise for PJ whom he worked with in Phoenix and called PJ "the new Taj Gibson.". 47:03 ... The guys recap the Sunday night Pistons/Timberwolves brawl and discuss the Pistons and their "Bad Boy" culture.  World B has had enough of the fake "tough guy" act from Isaiah Stewart.  Bruce initially thought there would not be any suspensions as a result of the brawl but Ross disagreed and Bruce was convinced and changed his mind. 53:22 ... The guys make their choices for the college hoop championship ... Ross and World B like Houston and Bruce likes Auburn. 54:15 ... Ross says goodbye ... TRT 54:30
