Leonard asks Ben if Ruth has decided whether to be tested for the BRCA gene variant. Ben's still annoyed with Josh for not wanting to know, an attitude he thinks is typically selfish. Following yesterday's chat with Alan, Leonard considers how lucky he is being retired, and that life seems more stressful these days. Ben agrees - the surgery has so many people saying they're struggling. He hopes the mental health initiatives he's trying to set up with Azra will help address these pressures. Adam has spoken to Ruairi, who agrees that Brian must be made to let go of the business. Ian's surprised Ruairi agreed, considering the George attack cover–up, but Adam insists it's for Brian's own good. Brian's out of his depth, plus his dinosaur attitudes and lack of futureproofing are no good for Home Farm. It needs to be addressed at the partnership meeting. Kate's horrified by the idea of caravan storage and agrees with Adam. Ian is concerned that the family are being misled by inaccurate dementia speculation, but Adam feels he has no choice. Having invited Alice to dinner, Adam pleads with her to help form a united front against Brian. Alice wants more time though - Brian really doesn't think he's got dementia. Instead of rocking the boat, can't they just persuade him to get some kind of cognitive fitness test? Frustrated, Adam insists the clock is ticking – he sees Brian floundering badly and if they don't act quickly, Home Farm is going to fail.

Alice praises Azra for her Mental Health initiative, then tells Azra she'd like to see addiction services given more prominence. Alice asks Azra for advice on helping a “friend” whose father may be showing signs of dementia. Clearly suspecting it's Brian they're talking about, Azra plays along, suggesting booking her friend's father an appointment with his GP, but also offering to dig out some leaflets for Alice to give her friend. Bert phones the surgery, demanding an appointment. Lottie explains there are none available, but Bert insists he'll turn up regardless, before shouting in pain and putting the phone down. Chelsea reluctantly agrees to take Bert in. After he's been seen Bert complains about the scant advice he was given to alleviate his pain and mutters about his aborted compensation claim, claiming he wanted the money to help Chelsea fix up her horsebox. Chelsea's touched by this, while Bert insists that's what family is for. Stella tells Ruth about Pip's appointment at the Breast Screening clinic on Thursday and asks if she'll go with them. Ruth seeks reassurance her presence will be welcome, then offers to drive them there. Stella admits how worried she is, but didn't ask before to avoid bringing up bad memories for Ruth. Stella reckons she's showing more signs of anxiety than Pip and worries she's driving Pip mad. Ruth gives Stella some sage advice before they agree a time for her to pick them up on Thursday. Stella later confirms that Pip's really pleased her mum will be there.

David is full of the joys of spring, and Lynda takes her problems to Azra.

Lynda's heard Azra's being interviewed on the radio about mental health and offers advice on interview techniques. Azra's grateful, but worries about making false promises over how much support can realistically be offered. Ben suggested making it a call to action by the community, while Lynda thinks it's enough to prompt the conversation and point people towards support groups. Lynda then offers to drive Azra to the radio station, allowing her to prepare without distraction. Afterwards, Lynda tells Azra she was brilliant. Azra admits she followed Lynda's advice, pretending she was in a one-to-one conversation with a close friend: Lynda.Ruairi tells Brian about his conversation with George and how stressed he's feeling. He wants to tell the police that he attacked George. Brian thinks it's a terrible idea, as Justin approaches. Keeping his voice raised Ruairi insists he wants Brian to go with him, before making an excuse and leaving. Awkward Brian makes a flimsy excuse for Ruairi's behaviour, then admits how deeply vulnerable Ruairi is. At which point Justin owns up to knowing about Ruairi's relationship with Julianne, which involved payment for his company, and how troubling that was. Brian listens intently, pretending he knew as well, before Justin switches subject to confirm he's finally found a potential buyer for his BL shares, making Brian's day even worse. Later, Brian pulls Ruairi into a hug. Ruairi can't stop mulling over what George said about nearly dying, but Brian can't bear the thought of Ruairi going to prison. He's determined to protect Ruairi and won't let him down this time.

Azra's grateful to Ben for coming into work at short notice and as he eats a late breakfast they discuss Azra's fasting. He tells Azra about Josh's upcoming working holiday in Patagonia and the possibility of moving back to the Stables. Ben feels ready, despite the slight memory of his breakdown. They then talk about this year's big push on mental health awareness. Later Ben reports he's contacted Radio Borsetshire; they've suggested doing a live interview with Azra next week, linking it with their own mental health campaign. Azra's nervous about getting her message right, but thinks a call to action might be her best approach. While Jakob attends to a horse with Alice, Brian pops by and notes Rex has a spring in his step. Jakob admits he knows Alice and Rex are an item. Brian's keen to check in with Ruairi, while Alice suggests Ruairi's a bit down because of Paul being away. They discuss Miranda's purchase of Home Farm and debate where to plant a Mother's Day rose for Jennifer. Brian compliments Alice on looking so well, smugly taking credit for her and Rex. Brian's worried about Kate and talks to Jakob. Limited to video calls with Phoebe, Brian's convinced Kate wants to live in Scotland, nearer her daughter and granddaughter. He's keen to check with Jakob how he'd feel if Kate admits she wants to move. Jakob isn't averse in theory, but as Kate hasn't mentioned anything to him Jakob admits a slight panic and wonders whether Kate even wants him to go with her.

At Rewilding Ambridge Mick asks if Joy can come to the unveiling tomorrow. Rex and Kirsty explain why it may not happen - they're still waiting for Justin to let them know whether he's fixed the problem of the undersized artwork. And when Mick sees it he agrees it should be much bigger. Kirsty still hasn't got hold of Justin, but they can't cancel until they know for sure what's happening. By the end of the day Rex and Kirsty agree it's too late to cancel now. But then comes the really bad news: Borsetshire Life are sending their Assistant Editor and he hopes the artwork will grace their next front cover, just when they don't want the publicity.Susan reports to Azra on how well their meal with George and Amber went, with Akram's help. Susan's impressed by Akram's work at Bridge Farm, too. George comes into the shop and has a dizzy turn, before Azra insists he goes to A&E. She drives him, with Susan in the back and George feeling mortified by all the fuss, but Azra impresses on George the need for an all-clear on his head injury before he can start work. Later, Susan tells Azra that Amber's with George at the hospital now and he's had a scan. She gives Azra a bouquet of flowers to thank her, before Amber messages to say the scan was clear and they're coming home. Susan and Azra compare notes on the virtues of constructive criticism, before Susan leaves Azra to enjoy the rest of her afternoon off.

Dr Azra Raza is a Professor of Medicine, Clinical Director of the Evans Foundation MDS Center, and Executive Director of The First Cell Coalition for Cancer Survivors at Columbia University in New York. She is the best-selling author of "The First Cell: And the human costs of pursuing cancer to the last". She started her research in Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) in 1982 and moved to Rush University, Chicago, Illinois in 1992, where she was the Charles Arthur Weaver Professor in Oncology and Director, Division of Myeloid Diseases. The MDS Program, along with a Tissue Repository containing more than 50,000 samples from MDS and acute leukemia patients was successfully relocated to the University of Massachusetts in 2004 and to Columbia University in 2010. Before moving to New York, Dr Raza was the Chief of Hematology Oncology and the Gladys Smith Martin Professor of Oncology at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester. She has published the results of her laboratory research and clinical trials in prestigious, peer-reviewed journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, Blood, Cancer, Cancer Research, the British Journal of Hematology, Leukemia, and Leukemia Research. Akram's enthusiasm for helping with the fete begins to backfire. Azra has little sympathy for his pressed schedule, and when he asks her to cover a meeting for him while he handles a plumbing emergency, she's unimpressed. Grudgingly she capitulates and attends the meeting, and despite her insistence she's there merely as a scribe, Lynda ropes her into contributing suggestions for a big idea. When Azra floats the idea of a traditional fete, Lynda seizes on it. Akram arrives just in time to be handed a growing list of tasks—including gauging public opinion and securing sponsorship. Tracy's astounded to hear Neil's invited Martyn Gibson to her birthday party, declaring it would be a disaster. Jazzer assures her Martyn declined, but reluctantly admits he himself left the door open in case Martyn found himself free. Tracy now doesn't know where things stand. She'll have to tidy the house, and they'll need to spill into the garden for more room. When Jazzer protests the garden's a tip, Tracy instructs him to do some weeding. She's initially impressed with his idea for live music, until she realises he means Dross. For Tracy this is a step too far. Kenton considers security options at the Bull. When his first choice of staffing is unavailable, Mick volunteers his services. He can start tonight. However his over-zealous approach almost scares Jazzer away, and Kenton suggests being unobtrusive and mingling with customers might be more effective than frisking them. Mick just needs to watch and listen.

At Brookfield, David's talking through the events they've planned for Open Farm Sunday. Ruth senses how concerned he is about security, even though they've got Rex, Ed and Will keeping an eye on things. While Ruth mulls over the details of the day and possibly having more “fun” events, David suggests a bag search on the gate, then admits he's having flashbacks to what happened in the boardroom at Casey Meats and can't help projecting his fears onto Open Farm Sunday. He wishes he'd been more proactive, despite everyone saying how fantastic he was, keeping people calm. Ruth sits David down with a coffee and does her best to reassure him, before suggesting it might be better to cancel Open Farm Sunday if it's causing him so much anxiety. Alice's self-laceration continues at the doctor's surgery. Both she and Chris cover when Fallon appears. Fallon checks they're coming to Harrison's party tomorrow night and still providing the salads and playlist they promised. After Fallon's gone, Chris and Alice confess they'd completely forgotten. When they see Azra she doesn't think there's anything obviously delayed about Martha's development, but noting Alice's concern she suggests referring Martha to a paediatrician. Later, after dropping Martha at nursery, Chris is relieved they've got the referral. But Alice can't help worrying about the possibility of a delayed onset and there's nothing Chris can do to help. Fallon calls with more stress about Harrison's party, before Alice admits to Chris what she really wanted Azra to say was that Alice didn't hurt Martha and everything's alright.

Joy gives Susan the latest batch of Shop surveys, while Ben is asked what he'd like them to change. Joy suggests letting dogs in, but Susan's not keen, preferring Azra's idea of introducing a hardware section. Later, Ben catches up with Joy, grateful to her for remembering when he broke down at the Shop over Bess, knowing that's why she suggested allowing dogs. Joy admits the guilt she feels over Rochelle turning out the way she has, but Ben reminds Joy of the role she played in his recovery – their conversation on the Green that day was a turning point for him. He's certain something similar could happen to Rochelle.Alice has brought Martha to Chris's flat, where he's planned a day in and around Ambridge, inviting Alice to join them at the playground. Alice wants to talk about the effect her drinking during pregnancy had on Martha's development. Chris thinks it's a massive leap, but Alice has been dreading the thought of foetal alcohol syndrome for years and the nursery visit on Friday hasn't helped. At the playground later Chris tries convincing Alice there's nothing wrong with Martha, but she wants to see a doctor as soon as possible. Chris worries she's torturing herself unnecessarily, while Alice suggests he's more worried she'll start drinking again. When Susan approaches they're happy to talk about letting dogs in the shop instead. Afterwards Chris says he'll go to the doctors with Alice, who's really grateful. She wouldn't blame Chris for hating her after what she's done to Martha.

There's drama on the cricket pitch and a surprise is sprung on Azra.

At the Tearoom, before the pancake eating competition starts, Zainab tells relieved Akram she was never going to take a job at The Bull. Brad meanwhile isn't feeling great, following his starvation diet. Natasha introduces Zainab and Brad in boxing-match style with ridiculous nicknames, but then Brad collapses to the floor. Later, while embarrassed Brad recovers, Natasha desperately tries to find a replacement, but it doesn't look promising. Before setting off in the Riley Jazzer confesses how anxious he is about going to this posh restaurant. Tracy susses he's more upset about not going to the pancake event, but she's not changing her mind. However, Tracy then gets a call telling her what's happened to Brad. By the time Tracy and Jazzer reach The Tearoom people have started drifting away. Tracy insists on taking Brad off to feed him up – she's already cancelled the meal with Susan and Neil. Seeing Natasha's desperation Jazzer offers to take Brad's place, but quickly changes his mind when he sees Tracy's face. With a load of uneaten pancakes left on her hands Natasha has no choice but to offer them free to all comers.Back at Ambridge Hall Akram cajoles Zainab into making up with Azra, instead of fighting all the time. Zainab feels bad about the books and photos that were ruined by the sewage, but Adil has found replacements for some of the photographs at least, which Akram has brought back with him. When asked about moving back to Solihull Zainab admits she'd like to give Ambridge a try for a little longer yet.

At No.6 The Green Jazzer moans to Brad about the posh dinner Tracy's making him go to with Susan and Neil. But Brad has other things on his mind, including the pancake eating competition. Jazzer would far rather go to that, but Tracy refuses to change their dinner date to let him do both. Brad then tells jealous Jazzer he'll fast before the competition to make sure he beats Zainab. The prize is as good as his.Akram fills Azra in on how Adil is doing in Pakistan, then outlines some ideas to get his business up and running. They share happy memories of biking together, before Azra shocks him with news about Zainab wanting to work in a pub. Later, they consider the idea of moving back to Solihull, amongst old friends. Azra confesses that, despite the sewage spill, they feel settled in Ambridge. She thinks Akram might grow to like it there too. Despite Emma's best efforts the Tearoom has been dead all day. Both Pat and Emma hope Natasha's punt on getting customers back with the pancake competition works. Pat's frustrated that not many people have signed her petition about the sewage overspill. Emma suggests drumming up a bigger response with a media blitz. Later, Emma shows Pat the work she's been doing online to publicise the petition, using photos of damage at Bridge Farm and adding links to the Borsetshire Clean Water Action Group. Even better, Emma then gets an invite for an interview on Radio Borsetshire – at last, an opportunity for their voices to be heard!

Azra makes an emotional confession, and Robert tries to pick up the pieces.

Frustrated Natasha thinks Emma's wasting her time pursuing the water company when she should be focusing her efforts increasing footfall at the Tearoom. Later she apologises for being snippy, admitting she's worried. They're losing money and it's demoralising. She's pleased to see Kirsty, joking she's at least one paying customer. Kirsty wonders whether Natasha and Tom have had a chance to progress the house purchase. Natasha promises they'll all sit down together soon. Her priority currently is getting the business back on a firm footing. Emma suggests a Pancake Day initiative, and after some debate they settle on a pancake eating contest. What have they got to lose? Azra confides to Lynda there's no chance they'll be back in their own house in time for Ramadan – the house smells and the utility room is still damp. Kirsty reports she's got a professional company in to clean her house. They're doing a complete refit. She can't afford to wait, she just needs the house sold. Later Azra explains to interested Lynda how she manages her and the family's fasting arrangements, admitting that this year will be particularly challenging with all the stress of the house. Lynda suggests contacting Justin to see if he can advise on who should take responsibility for the sewage issues. Meanwhile she offers Azra the use of her kitchen as much as she needs it – she and Robert will work round her. In a moment of inspiration Lynda offers to fast alongside Azra so that they're synchronised.

Will Jolene help or hinder, and Azra offers some encouragement.

Ben's working at the GP surgery where he bumps into Azra, who's concerned about Zainab. Azra thinks Zainab thinks should be putting in applications for university. Otherwise her gap year could end up being permanent. Zainab arrives and Azra seizes her opportunity to turn the conversation back to university, encouraging Ben to say he's enjoying his course. In fact she'll pay for Ben and Azra to discuss it over a hot chocolate. Zainab's not keen until Azra throws in a take-away later. Zainab explains to Ben that she's not sure she wants to go to university, but her mum shouldn't worry - she just needs a bit of time to work things out.Lynda notices that Mick's looking a bit below par. He explains that ticket sales for the Christmas Brunch at The Bull are very slow. He talked Jolene and Kenton into doing it, because he was really keen to be Father Christmas. But it's back-fired on him now. Meanwhile Jolene tells Kenton that she bumped into Helen in the shop. Apparently Jack's really excited about ‘Creepy Christmas'. When Kenton's incredulous that Helen actually think's it's on, Jolene confirms that Helen was hoping to buy some tickets. And there's some other parents who want to book too. Kenton wonders if Creepy Christmas has got legs after all. Later he tells Lynda and Mick that it's actually a really good idea. The Bull will do it as well as the Santa Brunch. Kenton's happy that Lynda and Mick are going to rehearse, but less so when Lynda wants to sort the financial terms first.

There's a calamity at Beechwood, and Azra is left devastated.

David faces a nightmare, and Azra offers support.

Azra tries to keep the peace, and Hannah finds herself in a potentially embarrassing situation.

Jolene and Kenton have difficulty photographing their kitten for the kitten naming competition – she keeps disappearing off! Later they spot a boy stroking her in the pub car park, claiming that the kitten was on the road and that he'd practically saved her life. He tells them his name's Kahlil and he's just moved into Beechwood.Later, Kenton's not satisfied with his kitten photos, but Jolene likes the one in the old Shires ashtray and they decide to go with it for the competition photo. Jolene invites Fallon and Harrison over for a drink later – George is in court this week and Fallon's feeling confused about reading out her personal statement in court. Jolene's going there with her for support.Lilian asks Lynda's advice about whether she should encourage Alice to come to court for George's sentencing on Thursday. They stop in mid-flow when they spot a boy appearing to be feeding Lynda's llamas crisps. He's adamant he isn't though, explaining how llama's digestive systems work. He thinks Salieri's constipated. That's too much for Lynda who demands to know the boy's name to report him to his parents. But he runs off before she can finish. Later a girl turns up looking for him. When Lynda suggests he's dropped his drinks can as litter, the girl says it's not his. They're boycotting that drink. The boy reappears and she heads home with him. Slowly Lynda realises who they might've been. Azra lives in Beechwood – what if they're her children? Lynda worries that she might've offended Adil's family practically as soon as they've moved in

Azra has a lot to contend with, and suspicions arouse for David.
