HAIR METAL Podcast EP.21: VAN HALEN - For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991) & 2024 Sammy Hagar VAN HALEN Tribute Tour. Watch the YouTube version of this show on the Fandom Podcast Network Channel here: https://youtu.be/mYz71a8V1I8 The Hair Metal Podcast looks back at the Thrash, Glam & Rock Pop Metal bands, music, events and everything else that heavily influenced the 80's & early 90's Hair Metal music era. On this episode of the Hair Metal Podcast, host Kevin Reitzel, and guests Mike Simmer and Kyle Wagner, discuss Van Halen's For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (often abbreviated as F.U.C.K.) album. It was the ninth studio album by Van Halen. It was released on June 17, 1991, on Warner Bros. Records and is the third to feature vocalist Sammy Hagar. It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and maintained the position for three consecutive weeks. The album marked a record in the band's history, seeing seven of its eleven tracks released as singles. The album marked the first time the band had Ted Templeman working in a producer capacity since 1984, when David Lee Roth was still lead singer. Also discussed is the 2024 Sammy Hagar Van Halen Tribute tour, and the long running debate with fans, who was the better Van Halen frontman, David Lee Roth, or Sammy Hagar. Remember...every rose has its thorn, and on a steel horse... we will ride! HAIR METAL LIVES! Rock on everyone! Big O talks Van Halen
Still more speculation on the Van Halen tribute that may or may not have been or may still be, or just may never be at all! How long ago did Joe Satriani, Alex Van Halen, and Dave all speak? And what about Sammy Hagar? Plus, members of Dave's most-recent band have recently been posting on Instagram from Henson Studios...why? Also, the myriad of things Dave turned down through the years and "Dave and confused." This week's interview is with actor, musician, TV host, philanthropist and legendary sumo wrestler Konishiki. He was the first non-Japanese-born wrestler to reach ōzeki, the second-highest possible rank in the sport. During his career he won the top division championship on three occasions and came very close to becoming the first foreign-born grand champion, or yokozuna. If you saw Dave's 2013 short film Tokyo Story, Konishiki played Big Brother. Darren talks with him about that, the WWE, his amazing success in sumo, being born and raised in Hawaii, and much more. And yes, that's him pictured within the artwork of Big Ones by Aerosmith.

At the top: Darren and Steve talk about the breaking news about a possible Van Halen tribute tour (or shows) featuring Joe Satriani, Alex Van Halen, Jason Newsted and/or David Lee Roth. How far along did it get? Who else has been mentioned and who hasn't? Plus, Dave's very interesting response to the news. This week's interview is with guitarist Jake Faun. Jake was in Dave's band for the KISS dates in 2020 before COVID-19 put the kibosh on it all. Its a great conversation! Jake talks about getting the gig and talks about learning Van Halen songs, playing with Al Estrada, how long the touring with Dave was supposed to go, meeting Steve Vai backstage in Los Angeles, and more. This week we lost one of the most influential guitarists in Rock, Eddie Van Halen. His style could not be matched and he created something on his own without being able to even read music. What he was able to accomplish with his brother Alex, Michael Anthony, David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, Gary Charone and his son Wolfgang is something a lot of people would have given up on during the hard times, but the guy just wanted to create and play music. He left behind a legacy of music that is timeless and will last forever. R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rat-salad-review/message
