Dave Emory - The Walls Came Tumbling Down - Nazis, Fascists and the 911 Attacks2 days agoDavid Emory is a political researcher and broadcaster whose California-based radio programs are heard on a regular basis in the United States, Canada and Europe.Mr. Emory's broadcasts focus on the U.S. military and intelligence community's historical involvement with international fascism. Researching such national security establishment abuses as domestic and foreign political assassinations, and governmental complicity with organized crime and drug smuggling syndicates, Mr. Emory has distilled his academic research into an archival documentary format. These “archive” programs consist of excerpts from printed sources read during his broadcasts.Mr. Emory's programs have been featured on a regular basis on Pacifica stations KPFK (Los Angeles) and WBAI (New York), and many smaller stations. He has appeared as guest on major commercial stations including KGO-AM (San Francisco) and WLUP-AM (Chicago) and as an expert commentator on broadcast outlets in three continents. Audio cassette copies of the archive programs are also circulated internationally.Mr. Emory began his work during the Watergate era when he noted numerous connections between that scandal and the assassination of President Kennedy. Pursuing his work on the JFK assassination, Mr. Emory discovered Nazi General Reinhard Gehlen's Eastern front spy apparatus, and its incorporation into the CIA after World War II. This led Mr. Emory to study the origins of fascism and its influence on the contemporary world.Mr. Emory graduated from Amherst College with a B.A. in psychology.https://www.patreon.com/DaveEmory/postsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

John Ruskan reads excerpts from his book MOON WALKING and performs the music. From John Ruskan: This episode is the last of the first series of the Emotional Clearing Podcast. When I started this project last year, my goal was to post a year's worth of interesting episodes about holistic psychology and the EC Process. That year has now concluded. If you have discovered this podcast anywhere in the middle of the series, I recommend that you go back to the beginning and start with Episode #1. These programs are all timeless and will support you as you work on yourself. I am not sure if/when the second series will begin. Although each program discusses an aspect of EC work, please allow me to emphasize that in order to gain an overall perspective on how to apply the Emotional Clearing Process as a radical self-therapy, I would refer you to my books DEEP CLEARING and EMOTIONAL CLEARING by John Ruskan on Amazon, and please visit the EC website for more interesting info and referrals to counselors.https://www.amazon.com/DEEP-CLEARING-Emotions-Negativity-Consciousness-ebook/dp/B08YXXH4CKhttps://www.emclear.com

Even before the Beatnik Riots of 1961, New York City's Greenwich Village was the epicenter of revolutionary movements in American music and culture. But, in the early 1960s and throughout the decade, a new wave of writers and performers inspired by the folk music revival of the 1950s created socially aware and deeply personal songs that spoke to a generation like never before. These writers—Bob Dylan, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Janis Ian, and Phil Ochs, to name a few—changed the folk repertoire from traditional songs to songs sprung from personal, contemporary experiences and the nation's headlines, raising the level of political self-expression to high art. Message and music merged and mirrored society. In Music + Revolution: Greenwich Village in the 1960s, Richard Barone unrolls a freewheeling historical narrative, peppered with personal stories and insights from those who were there.

Suppression is avoided by experiencing feelings, not primarily by expressing them. We've lost the capacity to experience feelings deeply, resistance has gone to an unconscious level. Skillful prose makes the dishy profiles an engaging read .... A lively political book ...." — Kirkus Reviews Why They Stay is about the lives of politically married women who have stood by their men after sex scandals. It covers Eleanor Roosevelt, Jackie Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, Silda Wall Spitzer, Huma Abedin Weiner and more. Looking back on the path chosen by the women profiled in this book, we have the evidence to see a pattern as old as the dynastic maneuverings of England's medieval queens. The women married to the "royalty" of our times, politicians, make cold calculations in order to hold onto their "thrones" and their family's history-making potential. Why They Stay argues that women in the limelight remain loyal to their men, because of complex, often unconscious forces. From mapping a path to power to laudable notions of holding the family together, the author examines the uniquely challenging Faustian bargains that political wives grapple with, even as the public spotlight illuminates their every move. Winner of multiple national book honors, including in the categories of Women's Issues and Current Events. Audio and e-book versions are available. Last month, when federal officials revealed that they had lost track of nearly 1,500 unaccompanied minors who had arrived on the southern border alone without their parents, the admission caused a national outcry. On Monday, when ProPublica reporter Ginger Thompson released audio she obtained of 10 Central American children, separated from their parents by immigration authorities at the border, that outcry turned into an uproar. Yet, according to an exclusive report from Anita Kumar, White House correspondent for the news agency McClatchyDC and her colleague Franco Ordonez, the actual number of children that the US Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) has actually lost is much greater. In this week’s episode of “TrumpWatch” on WBAI New York, host Jesse Lent talks to Anita about the disturbing findings in her article “US officials likely lost track of nearly 6,000 unaccompanied migrant kids” and the wider government response to the crisis at the border.

Though it only includes 393 words, the signed agreement that resulted from President Donald Trump’s June 12 meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore was hailed as a big win by both sides. The President tweeted the day after the summit that there was “no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea” and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the administration expected “major disarmament” by Kim’s military before the end of Trump’s first term, as reported in the Washington Post. North Korean state media also hailed the meeting as a major victory, describing a “step-by-step and simultaneous” process aimed at achieving peace and “denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.” But with both sides making bold proclamations that weren’t included in the language of the agreement, where do the U.S. and North Korea actually stand in the effort to denuclearize and demilitarize the Korean Penninsula? In this week’s TrumpWatch from WBAI New York, host Jesse Lent tackles these questions with Jenny Town, a research analyst at the Stimson Center and the managing editor of 38 North, a website offering analysis of the political, economic and social conditions in North Korea. She is also the author of the June 12 article on BBC.com entitled “Trump-Kim summit: Rhetoric versus reality.”

Earlier this month, the New Jersey chapter of the immigrant advocacy nonprofit Make The Road released a study entitled “ICE in the New Jersey Courts: The Impact of Immigration Enforcement on Access to Justice in the Garden State.” The result of surveys with 59 legal and social service providers serving immigrant clients throughout 14 New Jersey counties, the report’s findings appear to confirm that arrests of undocumented defendants at court dates for unrelated offenses by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or “ICE” agents, often not in uniform, is having a chilling effect on the justice system. Though this practice of ICE arresting undocumented immigrants attending court for unrelated offenses was not unheard of before President Trump took office, ICE has dramatically stepped up its frequency under the new administration’s watch. The Immigrant Defense Project reports a 900 percent increase in this type of ICE courthouse arrest in New York State alone since January. According to the “ICE in the New Jersey Courts” report findings, since Donald Trump has become President, 78 percent of survey respondents have had clients too scared to attend criminal court due to fear of ICE presence in the courts. Additionally, 72 percent report having had immigrant clients who fear attending court because abusive partners have told them that ICE agents will be there to arrest them. As for the concrete effect on the judicial system, more than half of those surveyed reported having clients who have failed to appear in municipal or criminal court due to fear of ICE. In this episode of “TrumpWatch” on WBAI New York 99.5FM, host Jesse Lent speaks to Lauren Herman, a staff attorney for Make The Road New Jersey who co-authored the study, about what ICE’s courthouse arrests will mean for the U.S. justice system, in light of their findings that fear of being detained is keeping many undocumented immigrants from using critical legal services or even showing up for court.

What goes into creating an iconic impression? Does assuming the personality of a subject, even to make fun of them, allow you any new insight into their way of thinking? On this week’s "TrumpWatch" on WBAI New York, host Jesse Lent speaks with Alec Baldwin whose impression of Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live,” both before and after the 2016 election, has become the definitive impression of the 45th President. In addition to discussing what it’s like to perform as someone he admittedly dislikes, Alec compares playing Trump to some of his other iconic roles. Jesse also speaks with Kurt Andersen, the host of “Studio 360” on Public Radio International, who co-authored a new Trump parody book with Alec, entitled “You Can't Spell America Without Me: The Really Tremendous Inside Story of My Fantastic First Year as President Donald J. Trump.”
