The AFT is dedicated to the belief that every person in America deserves the freedom to thrive, fueled by opportunity, justice and a voice in our democracy. This freedom is achieved through an economy that works for all, including the ability to form a union; great public schools and affordable higher education; healthcare as a right; retirement security; the right to vote and civil rights; a vibrant democracy; and safe, welcoming and healthy environments and communities. The AFT and its members advance these principles through community engagement, organizing, collective bargaining and political activism, and especially through members' work—we care, fight, show up and vote. Prior to her election as AFT president in 2008, Weingarten served for 11 years as president of the United Federation of Teachers, AFT Local 2, representing approximately 200,000 educators in the New York City public school system, as well as home child care providers and other workers in health, law and education. Weingarten is the recipient of many commendations; she was included in Washingtonian's 2021 Washington's Most Influential People, City & State New York's 2021 New York City Labor Power 100, and Washington Life's 2018 Power 100 list of prominent leaders, and in 2017 received the Roosevelt Institute's FDR Distinguished Public Service Award. In 2013, the New York Observer named Weingarten one of the most influential New Yorkers of the past 25 years. Weingarten has led the AFT's efforts to strengthen public education for all children and to address the crisis in the teaching profession caused by deep disinvestment and the deprofessionalization of teaching. Through the AFT's Fund Our Future campaign, AFT members and leaders throughout the country are fighting for adequate investment in public education. Parents and many others have joined the AFT's efforts to end the overuse and misuse of standardized tests, and to fix—not close—struggling schools, something Weingarten has advocated since her involvement in the creation of New York City's Chancellor's District, which dramatically improved achievement in what had been some of the city's lowest-performing schools. Weingarten has launched major efforts to place real education reform high on the nation's and her union's agendas. She created the AFT Innovation Fund, a groundbreaking initiative to support sustainable, innovative and collaborative education reform projects developed by members and their local unions. At Weingarten's direction, the AFT developed a model to transform teacher evaluations from a way of simply rating teachers to a tool for continuous improvement and feedback. This model is used to align tenure and due process, so that tenure serves as a guarantee of fairness, not of a job for life. Weingarten led an AFT committee that called for all prospective teachers to meet a high entry standard—as in medicine or law—so that they're prepared from the day they enter the classroom. Weingarten oversaw the development of the AFT's Quality Education Agenda, which advocates for reforms grounded in evidence, equity, scalability and sustainability. She promotes what she calls “solution-driven unionism”—an approach to collective bargaining and collective action that unites the interests of union members and those they serve in the pursuit of solutions that benefit students, schools and communities. Under Weingarten's leadership, the AFT continues to grow and expand its voice as a union of professionals. Nationwide, the AFT is the second-largest union of nurses and other health professionals and the largest higher education union, representing 230,000 higher education faculty, professional staff and graduate employees. Weingarten helped source millions of dollars of personal protective equipment for nurses and health professionals experiencing shortages as they served on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic. Weingarten is an advocate for a New Deal for Higher Education, a campaign calling for substantial federal investment in higher education that would prioritize teaching, research and student supports; provide sustainable careers with professional voice for all faculty and staff; allow all students to attend regardless of ability to pay; create academic environments free of racism and other forms of bigotry; and cancel student debt. The AFT provides our members tools and information they can use to manage their federal student loan debt, including having that debt forgiven, while advocating for solutions to the escalating cost of higher education, predatory loan practices, and terrible loan servicing that is holding people back. The AFT and a broad array of parent and community partners across the country have collaborated on events to advance a community- and educator-driven agenda for public school reform. Weingarten spearheaded the development of Share My Lesson, the United States' largest free collection of lesson plans, classroom activities, and teaching strategies and resources created by educators, for educators—all at no cost. The AFT has a long-standing partnership with First Book, which has provided 5 million free and reduced-price books to children. Weingarten and the AFT were asked to lead a partnership to transform McDowell County, W.Va., one of the poorest counties in the United States. The AFT has assembled more than 100 partners not only to improve the quality of education provided to children in the county, but to focus on jobs, transportation, recreation, housing, healthcare and social services. Weingarten believes the rural way of life is worth fighting for, and the AFT's experience in McDowell County informs the work Weingarten is advancing to help rural communities thrive—through education, healthcare and economic opportunities. The AFT supports the strategic establishment of 25,000 community schools where students and families can access tailored health services and social services in one place, and marginalized communities can have access to services and support. Weingarten views this goal as especially vital to help children, families and communities recover from the wide-ranging impacts of the coronavirus pandemic and ensuing recession. When the COVID-19 crisis hit, the AFT worked with scientists and health professionals to develop a blueprint for reopening schools. The AFT continues to advocate for the funding and necessary testing and safety protocols to ensure in-person learning is safe. During the Trump administration, Weingarten led the AFT's efforts to oppose Trump and Betsy DeVos' fervent attempts to defund and destabilize public education and to stand up to the administration's racist policies and attacks on facts and democracy. In 2012-13, Weingarten served on an education reform commission convened by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, which made a series of recommendations to improve teaching and learning. She was appointed to the Equity and Excellence Commission, a federal advisory committee chartered by Congress to examine and make recommendations concerning the disparities in educational opportunities that give rise to the achievement gap. For 10 years, while president of the UFT, Weingarten chaired New York City's Municipal Labor Committee, an umbrella organization for the city's 100-plus public sector unions, including those representing higher education and other public service employees. As chair of the MLC, she coordinated labor negotiations and bargaining for benefits on behalf of the MLC unions' 365,000 members. From 1986 to 1998, Weingarten served as counsel to UFT President Sandra Feldman, taking a lead role in contract negotiations and enforcement, and in lawsuits in which the union fought for adequate school funding and building conditions. A teacher of history at Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood from 1991 to 1997, Weingarten helped her students win several state and national awards debating constitutional issues. Elected as the local union's assistant secretary in 1995 and as treasurer two years later, she became UFT president after Feldman became president of the AFT. Weingarten was elected to her first full term as UFT president in 1998 and was re-elected three times. Weingarten's column “What Matters Most” appears in the New York Times' Sunday Review the third Sunday of each month. You can follow her on Twitter at @rweingarten (Twitter.com/rweingarten) and on Facebook (Facebook.com/randi.weingarten.9). Weingarten holds degrees from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations and the Cardozo School of Law. She worked as a lawyer for the Wall Street firm of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan from 1983 to 1986. She is an active member of the Democratic National Committee and numerous professional, civic and philanthropic organizations. Born in 1957 and raised in Rockland County, N.Y., Weingarten now resides in the Inwood neighborhood of New York City. Join us Monday's and Thursday's at 8EST for our Bi-Weekly Happy Hour Hangout! Randi Weingarten, President of AFT, joins us to discuss the lawsuits her organization is pursuing against the Trump administration's reckless and harmful policies. She shares the deliberations she and AFT undertake when considering which lawsuits to pursue. It comes down to two simple factors. First- is the policy actively hurting people and standing in the way of people attaining the American Dream? Second- does AFT have standing to file? If so, they're suing. This isn't what AFT wants to spend their time doing. But they are advocates for laborers, educators, and so many of the first targets of this administration. As we often discuss here at BustED Pencils, the American Dream is a fuzzy, ill-defined thing. One thing we know it absolutely requires is engagement. We must be able to engage with the difficult aspects of America, the contradictions and dark past of our great country. If we cannot, we lose whatever the hell the American Dream is. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) will no longer be the nominee to serve as Ambassador to the United Nations. In a post to Truth Social, Trump revealed he asked Stefanik to remain in Congress—citing the Republican Party's narrow majority in the House of Representatives and the need for her critical vote to pass conservative policies. Though New York's 21st Congressional District is reliably red, reports indicate that Governor Kathy Hochul (D-NY) was planning to delay filling the vacancy—despite NY law mandating an election within 90 days. 3:30pm- Corey DeAngelis—Senior Fellow at the American Culture Project & Visiting Fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the Trump Administration's pledge to dismantle the Department of Education. DeAngelis explains that President Donald Trump has emphasized Title I programs and IDEA will still be federally funded and will not be touched. The programs provide funding for students in high-poverty areas as well as students with disabilities. Who could possibly be opposed to returning education to the local level—where parents have more control? President of the American Federation of Teachers Randi Weingarten, of course! DeAngelis emphasizes “her power is slipping right through her fingertips” but this is good news for students, parents, and even teachers. “She makes over half a million dollars a year fighting to trap other people's kids in her failure factories that she likes to call public schools.” DeAngelis is the author of “The Parent Revolution: Rescuing Your Kids from the Radicals Ruining Our Schools.” 3:40pm- Disney Disaster: Disney's live action remake of the classic film Snow White hit theaters on March 21st. Despite needing to earn a reported $600 million to cover production and marketing costs, the film only grossed $43 million in its opening weekend. Part of the problem, according to reports, is Disney's unwillingness to put the film's star, Rachel Zegler, on an extended promotional tour due to her past controversial comments which have included criticisms of the original Snow White story, nasty comments about castmates, and profane remarks about President Donald Trump and his supporters. According to a new report from Variety, one of the film's producers needed to fly to Zegler and plead with her to stop posting polarizing messages on social media.

We open the show with a Friday favorite, a nod to Tara Bull's Top 10 news stories the Legacy/mainstream media didn't cover this week or did a terrible job if they did. We move straight into Democrats admitting they are sending paid agitators to invade GOP town halls. It's not really news at this point. Former Representative Jamaal Bowman might be in some legal hot-water after declaring Elon Musk is a “thief” and a “Nazi.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) released a video claiming the elimination of the Dept. of Education means the end of public school. In fact, it is the opposite, as Donald Trump attests. However, head of the union, Randi Weingarten is busy taking gaslighting to a brand new level, telling us she wanted schools to reopen in April of 2020. To show you an example of the legal corruption that exists in the Federal government, we turn to an example the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service. People were paid to do nearly nothing, while they expensed everything and lived like kings. That's what we are up against. An IRS member of DOGE gave an example of how much waste and bloat exists in just the area of IT. I'm fine with the Communist Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-CT) and the pro-Hamas/pro-Terrorist squad member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wanting to be the face and the message of the DNC. Add them to the village idiot, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) and Republicans won't have to say much by the time the mid-terms approach. It seems there is an exclusive club for judges in D.C. Most of the Trump-hating, lawfare judges are involved. So, too, is Chief Justice John Roberts. Now, what do you know about that? Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) is stoking fear, fakery and foolishness with a claim that DOGE was shutting down five field offices in Georgia. So, we do our part to correct him. On a similar note, Gov. Gavin Newsome (D-CA) declared on a podcast that he and his team never used the term “LatinX,” yet CNN called him out and played a montage of him using the phrase repeatedly. Finally, in the FAFO category, the Gov. Janet Mills (D-ME), who said she would keep men in girls' sports and would see Trump in court over it, managed to last less than three weeks. After federal funds were shut off to Maine, they have caved. Please take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. It's another day in the Golden Age, and the Democrats' losing streak continues as we witness more insanity from activist judges. Most recently, an Obama-appointed judge ordered planes carrying illegal migrant gang members to turn around midflight, an absurd decision that has led to articles of impeachment being filed. This rogue judge's blatant overreach has sparked outrage, and now Congressman Brandon Gill is pushing back. I'll break down the latest in this battle, from Trump's response to judicial overreach, to how the Republican Congress is backing him up. With the Supreme Court dragging its feet, Trump has a green light to keep pushing back against these ridiculous rulings — and the fight for common sense continues. In the second part of this episode, Randi Weingarten is back on MSNBC, panicking over massive cuts to the Department of Education, where nearly half of its workforce has been removed. These cuts are a direct response to the Department's failure to uphold educational standards, with schools increasingly pushing radical ideologies instead of foundational knowledge. Parents are outraged as their children fall behind in education, while the department's bloated budget continues to fund wasteful spending. The Trump administration is taking action to root out "wokeness" in education. Ben Merkle, president of New Saint Andrews College, joins to discuss the battle against this educational corruption and the importance of returning to a curriculum based on truth, goodness, and beauty. (Note: This episode is from Tonight with Dr. Steve's special Tuesday livestream.)In this episode, we dive into the latest economic shifts under President Trump, from plummeting inflation rates to falling gas and egg prices—real-time data that shows Trump's impact on the economy in just six weeks. We'll break down the latest inflation stats from Truflation, how egg prices have dropped below pre-Biden levels, and the ongoing efforts to tackle soaring gas prices. Plus, we discuss the emerging tariff war with Canada and Mexico, the shift toward economic nationalism, and how Trump's policies are reshaping global trade. In the second part of this episode, I interviewed Doug Wilson, a passionate pastor and advocate for educational reform. We talk about Randi Weingarten's emotional reaction to Trump's proposal to abolish the Department of Education. As the president of the American Federation of Teachers, Weingarten has been a major advocate for progressive, "woke" policies in schools, which have contributed to a crisis in student behavior and a decline in educational standards. We explore how the woke left has infused radical ideologies into classrooms, undermining traditional values, and causing confusion among students. We also highlight the rise of parents and patriots fighting back against this agenda. Tune in as Pastor Doug Wilson offers hope and actionable solutions to reclaim education from indoctrination. Adam and Jason ”Mayhem” Miller are back with comedian Dave Landau and Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block. It's a jam-packed episode covering everything from stand-up's grunge era to boy band nostalgia. Adam and Dave Landau break down the evolution of comedy and music—why grunge wouldn't exist without hair metal and how American culture demands constant reinvention. Plus, Adam sounds off on Randi Weingarten's latest billionaire rant, Gavin Newsom's painfully obvious attempt at a rebrand, and the absurdity of solar panels on churches. Then, Joey McIntyre joins the show to talk New Kids on the Block, his Boston roots, and what it's really like to grow up in the biggest boy band on the planet. He shares stories from Broadway, his new solo tour, and even dishes on leaving Bill Burr hilarious voicemails. An unusually candid Breitbart interview with CA Governor Gavin Newsom peels back the curtain on the Democrat Party's race to the bottom: Their pathological refusal to abandon topics and causes that the majority of America disagrees with. Trans men playing women's sports. Crazy campus anti-semitism. Dangerously open borders. Their insane objections to slashing of government waste and bloat. These are 80/20 issues to America, but topics the left will go to the grave defending. Today, you'll hear the voices of nutty, including Al Green, Nicole Wallace, Randi Weingarten, AOC and Chuck Schumer. Listen to what they say, whom they defend, and how YOU fit into the world they wish for America.

We open with news the Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), who seemed to be vying for the position of Designated Liar, has separated from his wife and seems to have cozied up to a women almost half his age who runs a radical, far-Left propaganda outlet. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) wants you to know that illegals, who illegally cross the border are not criminals. Border Czar Tom Homan reminds her of the Federal statues on the books. At the same time, CBS was forced to admit the Trump policies at the border are working. On top of that, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has repurposed the CBP One app and turned it into the CPB Home app, for illegals to self-deport. Looks like more ActBlue smurfing outlets are behind the organized protests against Elon Musk. There has been a lot of violence and destruction as a result. Dept. Chief of Staff Stephen Miller says Democrats are threatening to shut down the government over a clean continuing resolution. He reminds us that there has never been a clean CR that has not been passed. This leads to comments by President Trump over how lost and out of touch the Democrats are today. As an example of their unhinged behavior, we bring you a snippet of Randi Weingarten losing her mind over the Dept. of Education being dismantled. How can she and others funnel money into pockets without that Federal bureaucracy? This leads to a statement from both Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his spokesperson, Tammy Bruce, that 83% of USAID grants/programs were being shut down. Bruce was asked if the DOJ would be involved and she said she did not know. On top of that waste, we find our government spent more than $1 trillion dollars implementing the Biden DEI initiatives. Finally, we close on how Canada just pulled a fast one on it's citizens, elected a new leader without a single primary ballot. Mark Carney wants Canadians to know, that while the U.S. is fighting against woke, they are doing the exact opposite. Class, let's get into the news for this week. President Trump's administration made clear that they do not value diversity, equity, or inclusion. Though those words "diversity," "equity," and "inclusion" separately rarely prompt any vitriol, together they form a rallying cry of- ironically- discrimination from some. Diversity is a basic truth of life, none of us is exactly the same. Inclusion should be a uniting force, where each individual is valued. And equity, equity is fairness incarnate. Equity is an ideal of each person having a fair shot at opportunity and success. Yet the second Trump administration paints these terms as sinister. And now in a Dear Colleague letter, this administration uses the very Department of Education they profess a desire to dismantle, to dictate curriculum. In response, AFT- led by President Randi Weingarten- sued the very same federal Education Department alleging that the dictates are not only harmful to students, but also illegal. Join us to discuss. President Donald Trump said on the campaign trail that he wants to end the Department of Education and return teaching “to the states.” And now that he's in office, he's making good on that promise. The administration recently sent billionaire Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency bros to Education Department headquarters to cut contracts, staff and grants. Trump has also said he hopes his pick to head the department, Linda McMahon, ultimately puts herself out of a job.
