Have a question? Click here. This conversation explores the often hidden issue of addiction within church communities. In part 2 of this series, Sarah Pritchard and Amy discuss addiction and recovery, emphasizing that addiction is an illness rather than a moral failing. They explore how shame and guilt often accompany addiction but aren't helpful since the person is suffering from a disease. Sarah shares her personal perspective that addiction isn't necessarily caused by trauma or upbringing, suggesting it may be more related to chemical makeup or genetics. The conversation also touches on faith, addressing the misconception that being a "better Christian" would prevent addiction problems. Key points include:- The church's response to addiction- Understanding addiction in religious communities- The challenge of shame- Finding effective support- Misconceptions about addiction being solely a moral failing- The chemical/genetic components of addiction versus environmental factors- How addiction affects people regardless of their background or upbringing- Finding gratitude in recovery and the recovery journey- Exploring the question of whether addiction has genetic components- The intersection of faith and addiction recoveryResources:Listen and watch Impacting Recovery - Uncensored on YouTubeCONTACT IMPACT RECOVERY CENTERImpactRecoveryCenter.netInstagram: @impactrecoverycenter TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@adamsimpact https://www.tiktok.com/@sarahp_impactJoin The Stronger Collective Nourished Notes Newsletter Core Essentials: Episode 1 2 3 430+ Non-Gym Ways to Improve Your Health (free download)Connect with Amy: GracedHealth.comJoin the Graced Health community on Facebook! Because we live in a culture that gives us access to an infinite amount of information, we can sometimes make the mistake of thinking that we are wise, but there is a vast difference between knowledge and wisdom. I've been praying and pondering this episode for several weeks now as I wanted to start the New Year focused on what I believe is one of the most important goals that we as wives and moms can devote ourselves to and that is becoming wise women of God. “you are what you listen to” is a phrase my mum would drill into me as a child. did it truly understand what it meant? no. do i understand it now as i reflect on the things i consumed and how they impacted me, both mentally & spiritually? yes. but it's a road that i don't ever think i'll get to the end of. we have to convict ourselves constantly about our mental diet and whether it's glorifying to God. in this episode, we delve into what things we need to be mindful of, such as TV, social media, influencers, politics, and music, as well as the things i personally have been convicted on. instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thelessofmepodcast | https://www.instagram.com/elodiechristinayoutube: https://www.youtube.com/c/elodiechristinatiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@elodieechristinabuy me a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/elodiechristina

welcome to the first EVER episode of the less of me podcast. here i explain everything. where i've been, why the new podcast, the reason behind the name and what i wish to achieve.becoming a Christian at 18 was an experience i'd never take back, but Christian or not, being 18 you're automatically stupid. i made a lot of mistakes in my early Christian days and had an undeveloped, selfish understanding of God where i made everything about me. God was a genie who, although i loved, i didn't love Him enough to surrender my plans to. this podcast sets the tone of where i am at (well, where i am trying to be) and how i got to this place, whilst giving you scriptural advice on how you can do the same.instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thelessofmepodcast | https://www.instagram.com/elodiechristinayoutube: https://www.youtube.com/c/elodiechristinatiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@elodieechristinabuy me a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/elodiechristina
Jesus is a powerful champion for women. His heart is for you, and He wants a real authentic relationship with His daughters. But toxic teachings in the church have misrepresented the Bible and God's heart, contributing to persistent abuse within the church. Don't miss this powerfully eye-opening conversation with Sheila Wray Gregoire, podcaster, blogger, and author of She Deserves Better: Raising Girls to Resist Toxic Teachings on Sex, Self, and Speaking Up. We discuss toxic teachings aimed at women and girls and how we can teach them how to have truly healthy relationships with God and their fellow humans. “For a whole generation of women, the church stole Jesus from them… So many people have been driven away from the church because they have been given messages that are not from Jesus,” Gregoire said. As we continue our series called “Patriarchs, Prophets and Priests” this week, we get the privilege of looking at some of the women of God in the Old Testament who were respected, revered and admired. They were used by God to bring about victories in war and politics; they fought racism and oppression and made the worlds in which they operated safer. Throughout this series, we’ve talked a lot about the call of God on the lives of believers and the fact that God has a plan and purpose for each one of us. It’s easy to hear about Daniel, Jeremiah and Joseph and get kind of overwhelmed about the call of God, but today, we’re bringing the topic into sharper focus by centering our discussion around this question: what if the call of God for your life is not an office but an opportunity?

My guest today is Debbie G. Debbie is the founder of Beyond Fear to Freedom. Debbie had a great career and all the answers, but she was not ready for a series of events that rocked her life. She ended up in a mess of addiction, divorce, dysfunction, and heartache. She lost loved ones, and knew she couldn't get her life back. She had to take a step in a new direction. It took time, love, and mentoring, but her life was changed. Jesus has redeemed her life and given her a purpose she never had before. Today she sits with people in crisis and serves them in the same way that she was served. She says “I get it because I've lived it, and I will stick with you!”At the beginning of her ministry, Debbie brought her message and testimony to the church but was surprised at the response she got....or didn't get. It was only when she took her ministry to the streets, just as the Lord told her to, that she saw a God sized increase and impact. Debbie and I chat about her dramatic conversion, how we can sit with people even through the toughest moments in life, the change that discipleship can bring in both you and the person you disciple and the amazing ways Debbie has seen God work in the lives of women since starting BFF.To watch the video head over to the Youtube VideoShow Notes for all the links!Sign up for our JOR Inside Look EmailsConnect with Courtney!Facebook | Instagram Support the show

Society and the world tells us that we are not enough, and even though scripture tells us we are not perfect, it reminds us that we are most certainly enough, not because of who we are, but because of who He is. This Mother's Day, Pastor Trish tells the stories scandalous women in the Bible, and how we can move from victim to victory just as these women did.
