She became the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth and Asian Games after she won the gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games. She has also won two bronze medals at the World Wrestling Championships.She is a three time Olympian, having competed in three different weight classes - 48 kg in 2016, 53 kg in 2020 and 50 kg in 2024. In the 2024 Summer Olympics, she became the first international wrestler to defeat the then reigning Olympic champion Yui Susaki on the way to becoming the first Indian female wrestler to reach an Olympic final. However, she was later disqualified for being above the stipulated weight by about 100 grams during the weigh-in on the morning of the finals and therefore became ineligible for the medals.Phogat was nominated for the Laureus World Sports Awards in 2019 and was the first Indian to get a nomination for the award. Mike Grundy is an English professional mixed martial artist and retired freestyle wrestler who competed in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). During his wrestling career, Grundy most notably claimed a bronze medal from the 2014 Commonwealth Games.Mike started wrestling at a young age of 6, under the guidance of his late father. During his wrestling career, Grundy represented both England and Great Britain. He made two Junior World Teams and one Senior World Team while wrestling for England. Grundy wrestled for Great Britain in the men's freestyle 74 kg division at the 2009 World Wrestling Championships. Competing for England, he competed in the men's freestyle 74 kg event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where he finished 5th overall. In his last international wrestling event, Grundy also competed for England in the men's freestyle 74 kg event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won a bronze medal.He holds a professional MMA record of 12-4 with 9 finishes. He made his amateur mixed martial arts debut in 2011, followed by professional debut in September 2014. After 15 years of addiction, hopelessness and seven years in jail Richard Jensen got clean and sober and went on a quest to become a wrestling national champion. Rich had goals of standing at the top of the podium, something that he had dreamed of his whole life. Staying sober was not enough, he wanted to beat all odds and become the best version of himself that he could. He wanted to change his life by becoming a better person, someone he could be proud of. Over a 10 year period of competing he became a five time All American. In 2015, he competed at the World Wrestling Championships in Athens, Greece and in 2016, he finally reached his goal of becoming a National Champion. He has been clean and sober for over 14 years and travels the nation sharing his story to inspire others to not go down the path of destruction that he went down. His story was showcased on ESPN and won an Emmy Award in 2009. Today he talks in depth about the dangers of addiction and uses his personal story to encourage people to make positive choices by creating a vision, making attainable goals and staying on course. His message is that everyone can Be a Champion in Life!

J'den Cox is the current wrestling world champion at 92 kg. His impressive resume includes 4-time NCAA All-American, 3-time NCAA Champion at the University of Missouri, won the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and he won bronze at the 2017 World Wrestling Championships in Paris.In this episode we talk about his most recent accomplishment being the wrestling world champion.
