Some days, our hearts or souls can't find the glasses to see, and we cannot hear our own music. We find ourselves on autopilot, forgetting the preciousness of being and losing touch with our creative spirit. But on other days, our being fills with excitement, magically showing us the miracle of joy. Author Susan Lax joins Sister Jenna to explore the gifts of awareness and being present in the moment. Susan currently works as a spiritual counselor specializing in those touched by illness, grief, and loving through death. She lectures and leads workshops on the topics of awareness and making room for joy. Her new book, "A HEART'S LANDSCAPE: An Invitation to the Garden of Moments" was a recent top book pick by Good Morning America's Robin Roberts. With all that's happening in the world, this gorgeous hardcover book offers deep reminders with words and warm visuals - to take a moment – and just pause - get away from the inundation and put the chaos away. Susan is also the co-owner of Naot Footwear, a company that ethically manufactures handmade comfort shoes in Israel. Best-selling author, philosopher and teacher, Guy Finley has said that everyone on earth has the possibility to take The Hero's Journey. Not as an abstract concept, but as the core purpose and driving force in every human being's life. The Hero's Journey is our birthright, and the greatest, most fulfilling adventure we will ever know. A true hero is someone who, in the face of daunting opposing forces – being called to make a difficult sacrifice for the sake of a noble cause – does so regardless of the odds, despite the personal cost. To what “power” do all true heroes attribute their success; those brave souls who have helped to shape, to make our world a richer, better and brighter place? All attest to one simple truth: a relationship with a “higher power” greater than themselves. Join us as Sister Jenna welcomes Guy Finley to The Next Normal as he shares some of the universal and timeless spiritual principles that lead us to the personal revelation of Divine guidance, and the ultimate realization of our own highest possibilities. There's a quote that's attributed to Ram Dass that goes: "If you think you're enlightened, go spend a week with your family." From the moment we're born and throughout our lives, we experience relationships. Today we're going to discuss challenges in these connections - with our family, friends, and work relationships. Our guest today is Kathryn Ford, M.D. who specializes in relationships of all kinds and has been practicing psychotherapy, in private practice, for more than 20 years. Through the method she developed, Aperture Awareness, Kathryn guides others in staying in the present moment – which, she explains, is the key to a successful relationship. It's where the learning and growth takes place. Kathryn received her M.D. from Brown University Medical School and completed her psychiatry residency at The Stanford School of Medicine. She leads workshops for therapists and individuals through Stanford Continuing Studies. Read more at https://kathrynfordmd.com. Reverend Sylvia E. Sumter is the Senior Minister of Unity of Washington, DC and has served in this position since 1991. Prior to her tenure there, she served as the Chairperson of Communication Studies and Skills Department for the Unity School of Religious Studies, in Unity Village, Missouri. She was licensed as a Minister in 1986 and ordained as a Unity Minister in 1987. Rev. Sumter has a Masters of Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and an Associate of Arts in Business Administration. When Rev. Sylvia came to Unity Village, she was required to stay on the campus for her own safety as a Black woman living in Lee Summit, Missouri. After graduation, she became an instructor to maintain a representation of a person of color in leadership replacing Rev. Sally Taylor. She is a natural and gifted spiritual teacher. She counsels through a lived experience. Rev. Sylvia continues to help others expand their spiritual consciousness and vision by living in the awareness of the Divine through prayer, meditation and practicing spiritual principles for living life fearlessly and with authenticity.Rev. Sumter sees Unity of Washington, DC as a beacon of light and she sees her church serving by keeping the high watch in the nation's capital. She learned from Eric Butterworth to stand on principles and use them. She knows that we need audacious faith to handle uncertainty. She invites us to move with deep trust and embrace the uncertainty. She lets her congregation see her walk, so she can share her story of surrendering to what she knows. She shows them how she lets the Divine guide her because she is subject to have any experience. She demonstrates what it looks like to get back on that horse using principles. By doing so, she eliminates the thought that there is a mythical bar to reach. She shows that she too can forget the truth, but she knows how to get back to It. She wants them to know that all of this is a spiritual experience. And we can do this.Rev. Sylvia has had many mystical moments including several time warps. She's aware that the spiritual dimension is not qualified by simply time, space and matter. We cannot put confines on how Spirit shows up. God cannot be limited. We must shed the old paradigm of being a physical being but embrace being a spiritual being. The next evolution is a spiritual one. Everything breaks down, including the physical barriers. The veil is being lifted. The curtain has been rent. There is another dimension. Let's own these powers. Being a spiritual being is not lip service. We are to step into the Christ. Miracles are the working of higher spiritual laws. It's an exciting time. We are showing the way, being light bearers. Here's the way. Walk in it. Be masters of energy. She quotes Dr. King: "For evil to prosper, good people are to do nothing." We must speak. The meek shall inherit the earth. It's time to rise up together. She belongs to the group Evolutionary Leaders (along with Deepak Chopra and other luminaries). Her website is unityofwashingtondc.org. The audience will gain understanding about how practicing meditation can result in meaningful internal change that can lead to the construction of a more equitable society. The popularity of practicing mindfulness, meditation, and promoting peace has surged in mainstream culture in recent years. If the ideas and practices of meditation, as well as racial equity, have had such an impact on our culture, then why is social peace still so far removed from our reality? Peace is often performed, but not lived. What is the difference between doing peace and being peaceful? Join Rev. Dr. TLC and her guests, Sister Dr. Jenna, Ann Dinan, and Rev. Carolyn Wilkins as they discuss “the missing concept” between connection to our higher consciousness and social/racial justice situations.A peaceful world requires building safe and loving environments, but that requires the builders to have a true connection to what peace and love are. That's where meditation comes in.http://deeperleadershipinstitute.com/about-ann-dinan/ https://www.inspirationalministries.orghttps://www.americameditating.org https://www.meditationmuseum.orgTune in for this important conversation at TalkRadio.nyc or watch the Facebook Livestream by Clicking Here. Dr. TLC gives us a brief introduction on today's episode; where we look at mediation as a tool when dismantling racism. She asks the audience to try to center ourselves and find our breath; asking us to connect with our divine wisdom and sacred intelligence. She explains it's that divine part of you that helps you to make intelligent choices. Rev. Dr. TLC asks the question, where does mediation show up when we talk about racial equality? She introduces her phenomenal guests, Sr. Dr. Jenna, Rev. Carolyn Wilkins, and Dr. Ann Dinan. Sr. Dr. Jenna recently released her book, Meditation Intimate Experiences with the Divine Through Contemplative Practices, with her collaborators Rev. Wilkins, Dr. Dinan and Rev. Dr. TLC. Rev. She participated in a program called Breathe With Me which was a meditative approach to help process their pain. Carolyn discusses ways her program would check in on individuals for emotional support and how she doesn't see that happen out in the world often. She tells us how breathing and meditation helped calm the emotionally hurt people she worked with. Sr. Jenna tells Carolyn what made her program so powerful for her. Sr. Jenna appreciated the message of understanding how powerful our breath can be at a time when we see a man pleading they can't breathe. Sr. Jenna believes there needs to be a spiritual reawakening that can help us move the prejudice energy out of the narrative. Before the break, Rev. Dr. TLC shares why she practices breath work before starting each show. Segment 3Coming back from the break, Dr. Ann shares her experience as an adoptive mother of two African American children with very different appearances. She began to observe racism through a different lens where it led her to a journey of undoing and then doing. She searched for more around peace and practicing peace, which led her to Sr. Jenna and Rev. Carolyn. Dr. Ann explains that her work is meant to connect meditation practices to peacefulness with the purpose of dismantling racism. Rev. Dr. TLC points out that when we self-reflect and connect with the soul determines our impact and how we respond to the world. She tells us the value of connecting with our higher selves and higher consciousness. Before the break, Dr. Jenna explains the meaning of algae which is an acronym that stands for anger, lust, greed, attachment, and ego. It's a useful tool to use when you see your actions are influenced by those words. Segment 4In the final segment, Rev. Dr. TLC continues the conversation with her guests about soul consciousness. Rev. Dr. TLC asks the question, where does accountability fall in place with forgiveness? Sr. Dr. Jenna comments that if you hurt and you hurt someone else you'll feel the pain first. She points out that it's not about forcing accountability to a person with a lack of knowledge and understanding. Sr. Dr. Jenna shares why, with the help of the other ladies, she created Meditation Intimate Experiences with the Divine Through Contemplative Practices. Sr. Dr. says when you become a better version of yourself it becomes difficult to stay quiet. Before the end of the segment, each lady shares their process in writing the book. While researching the area of quantum physics, he discovered that when quantum physics is formulated within the metaphysics of qualified non-dualism, as in Indian Vedanta, questions regarding meaning are immediately resolved. His work thus integrates science and spirituality. This work has culminated in his most recent book with the physician Valentina Onisor, Quantum Spirituality. In 2009, he started a movement called "quantum activism," which continues to gain ground. In 2018, together with his collaborators, he established Quantum Activism Vishwalayam, an institution of transformative education in India, based on quantum science and the primacy of consciousness. Dr. Goswami is the author of numerous books, most notably: The Self-Aware Universe, Physics of the Soul, and God is Not Dead. He was featured in the movie What the Bleep Do We Know!? and the documentaries Dalai Lama Renaissance and The Quantum Activist.
