One of the greatest hymns for Christmas is Hark the Herald Angels Sing. In this hymn, Charles Wesley reminds us of the heavenly reality of where Jesus comes from, that he is God incarnate for us and that through him, our sin nature can be overcome. This beautiful hymn is the basis of Father Jeremiah's sermon for the First Sunday of Christmas.Image: See page for author, CC BY 4.0 , via Wikimedia Commons

With Election Day looming, Jeff dives into the political desperation driving the Democrats' strategy—and why, for the first time, he's decided to vote for Trump. As smear campaigns and absurd accusations pile up, Jeff examines the stark reality of what's at stake and contrasts the Democrats' fearmongering with the mess they've actually created: open borders, sky-high consumer prices, and the normalization of anti-Semitic hate crimes. If the stakes weren't so high, he might sit this one out, but at this point, voting has become a defense mechanism for what remains of the country's sanity.Shifting gears, Jeff discusses how ineffective assistance of counsel claims made by imprisoned clients shouldn't ruffle a defense lawyer's feathers — the clients are in jail after all. Using his own experience with high-profile clients, including El Chapo, he sheds light on the personal, ethical, and sometimes laughable aspects of these claims—and the mess the press often makes when covering them. Finally, Jeff pays a long-overdue tribute to the band Social Distortion, a band that's resonated with him for decades. More than just rockabilly punk, the band's music speaks to struggle, redemption, and raw honesty. From “When the Angels Sing” to “I Was Wrong,” Jeff shares why these tracks mean so much to him, urging listeners to give the band a chance beyond his podcast snippets.

Many Christmas songs refer to angels singing. But do they? I present several theologians with differing views on the matter, but mainly, the issue is to examine our traditions (even and especially Christmas traditions) to make sure they don't contradict what is written in the Bible. RESOURCES MENTIONED Tim Chaffey from Answers in Genesis J. Vernon McGee did not believe angels sing: Charles Spurgeon did believe angels sang, "The First Christmas Carol", Do Angels Sing? Peter Sterling is an award-winning harpist who began to play after a series of life-changing angelic encounters in the canyons of Sedona, Arizona, in the early 1990s. His heartfelt and celestial harp music has touched the hearts and souls of people worldwide, with many listeners reporting beautiful visions, angel encounters, and even miraculous healings while listening to Peter's heavenly music. In this episode, Peter describes his personal journey of discovering the divine music of the angels as he explored Sedona's Red Rock outback canyons. While he explains that angels taught him how to play and produce the music, this discussion goes well beyond the songs to how vital music is to understanding our true nature and can facilitate a vibrant connection with Spirit. Peter adds that in addition to music, having an attitude of trust, surrender, and letting go will help to elevate our vibrational levels to feel the energy of our chakras, opening of our third eye, experience visions, interactions with angels, and out-of-body experiences. In addition to music and sound, Peter suggests there is a second revolution of hallucinogenic drug use, similar to the 50s and 60s, but this time in guided and controlled settings. Psychedelic substances like ketamine, psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis, as well as MDMA (ecstasy) may be able to help people heal from PTSD, abuse, and trauma. They also may help in elevating a person's consciousness to achieve deep spiritual connections.*For more information about Peter, visit his website, or access his videos, music, and book, Hearing the Angels Sing, which includes 70 minutes of Peter's heavenly music. On Episode 276: When Angels Sing, we talk with guest Michelle about some amazing stories she wants to share. Her experiences range from seeing apparitions; hearing and feeling things she could not see or explain; nightmares; and sleep paralysis. While talking with her, something comes through on the audio that sounds like an explosion of power in a loudspeaker. Michelle and I both hear the noise and it stops us in our tracks! She also describes an occasion when she was in a worship service and heard an angelic voice singing along with the music. Her experience reminds me of a recording of musician Jason Upton performing in concert - during his performance, an angel was seen on stage, and its voice was recorded singing along with him - so I play that angelic audio on today's show!
