Captain Mike Weinhofer shares some of the crazy stories from being a charter captain in Key West Florida and discusses some of the rich history of the area. Mike Weinhofer began fishing with my father at the age of 5 in New Jersey where he learned to fish on his charter boat. He fished numerous tournaments together in many incredible locations and soon Mike and his father shared a love of fishing. He caught his first sailfish on the Gone Fishin out of Islamorada, FL when he was 7 and was hooked for life. He told his father that someday he would live in the Florida Keys and fish for a living. Twenty-eight years ago, he made that dream come true, moved to Key West, and began chartering his first light tackle fishing boat. He was living the dream, fishing from Venezuela to Cuba, the Bahamas to Maryland, the Outer Banks, and all over Mexico. Capt. The search for a perfect picture is like the pursuit of a flawless fish – a seemingly impossible task packed with enough challenge to bring photographers and anglers back day after day. It is this exhilarating chase of perfection that drives Jay's work. Armed with a rod in one hand and a camera in the other, Jay's love for photography was born on lakes, ponds, and wherever his chase for the next bite would take him. His desire to digitally represent the world around him began with 50” Muskies and 12-lb Walleyes. Jay recognizes that a good camera is to photography what a good rod is to fishing – a necessary tool that is nearly useless without a deep and balanced understanding of the craft. Jay's keen eye for visual composition and his experience working professionally in the field provide him with the foundation to succeed in a talent filled industry.   In the fall of 2011, Jay's camerawork helped launched the birth of Uncut Angling. Uncut has gained 200,000+ subscribers and over 45,000,000 views on Youtube. It provides viewers an exceptionally raw and real perspective, capturing the chase of trophy fish. In the Spring of 2018 Jay formed Thrive Visuals, his own production company specializing in the outdoor world. Specifically fishing and hunting content creation. They have had the honour of working with such brands as Travel Manitoba, Honda, and Alumacraft Boats. At the same time as Thrive Visuals was launched Jay decided it was time for another creative outlet and decided to put more focus into producing content for his personal YouTube channel.  The channel quickly rose to over 40,000 subscribers and is an outlet for him to share and teach of his loves of fishing, hunting, videography, and everything in between. Jay recently made the move to Kenora, Ontario where he spends his days fishing in NW Ontario, Manitoba, and beyond. Jay prides himself on creating content that is suitable for all ages. Capt. After previously being one if the pioneers of center pin reels he moved on to his next challenge, building the some of the best and most desired bamboo fly rods in the world. He has always attacked a project seeking the best possible information from the experts, and then proceeds to improve upon it. His intuitive thinking in resolving a problem has made him famous in his Boone & Crocket hunting records, the invention and production of the now highly sought after Hanson centerpin reel and of course, his rods. Having spent considerable time with Hoagy Carmichael exploring the craft, he began professionally building fly rods. The quality of his work was so notable; it brought mention in Ernie Schwiebert’s “Trout”. Ernie spoke of Garrison, then Carmichael and then Hanson as a line of succession. Leon’s depth of thinking applied to the construction of his rods, is worthy of recognition. His tapers cast sublimely, as only an expert caster can translate into bamboo. Leon’s production is very limited and his rods seldom appear on the used rod market.Check out Leon's rods here: http://www.leonfhansonqualitycaneflyrods.com/Capt. Doc also has 8 major walleye tournament wins including the MWC twice, the PWT 4 times, the AIM once, and the FLW/RCL once.Bruce "Doctor Sonar" Samson has a winning formula that has worked for him on both lakes and rivers; this formula includes using today's technology to his advantage on the water. GPS and Sonar technology are common tools in competitive walleye fishing, but few walleye pros have blended the technology with aerial photos, satellite elevation charts, and custom designed contour maps. Doc is one that does this and he does it well with his proven techniques on the tournament trail.Doc possesses the knowledge and experience to improve others and was honored with the Professional Walleye Trail Norb Wallock Memorial Teaching Award, the "Top PWT Teaching Pro" in 2004.When not competing, the Doc is active teaching electronics and fishing skills at every level. Whether you seek a little help or a lot, the Doc can help you via his website, educational DVDs, seminars, classes, Walleye Schools, magazine articles, or one-on-one with water training. Capt. His travels as a touring fishing professional have taught him a lot and his passion toward sharing what he has learned makes him a great choice for a fishing guide. Johnnie calls Devils Lake, North Dakota his home body of water. To say Devils Lake has undergone some change would be an understatement as large as the lake itself. In the past 25 years, Devils Lake has more than tripled in size. While this wreaked havoc on the citizens of the surrounding communities, it has been a blessing in disguise for the fishing. With the high water came thousands of acres of new habitat. Flooded buildings, farm equipment, rock piles and road beds are now home to the walleye, pike, white bass, and perch that once roamed the featureless basin of the old Devils Lake. He's also known for Walleye University, a series of seminars and DVDs.Some of Johnnie accomplishments:Top Touring Pro on the National Walleye Tour – 3 yearsInducted into North Dakota Fishing Hall of Fame – July 20182010 MWC World Walleye ChampionTop Touring Pro on the Masters Walleye Circuit – 8 years.Top touring pro on the Professional Walleye Trail – 15 years.check out Johnnie's website: https://www.johnniecandle.com/Capt.
