Tudi sicer ga privlačijo tako imenovane eksotične destinacije, ki ne pokajo po šivih zaradi množičnega turizma. Aleksander Zalar s takim navdušenjem pripoveduje o svojih potovanjih, da ga ne utegnemo spraševati o receptu za dolgoživost, energijo in pogum, da se v letih, ko se mnogi njegovi vrstniki ukvarjajo z bolečinami v sklepih in drugimi kroničnimi težavami, odpravi na celo nekoliko nevarnejše poti kot običajni turisti. S seboj redno jemlje tudi kamero in s poti po Afganistanu je posnel kar dva filma. Kako tudi ne bi izkoristil priložnosti? S skupino sopotnikov je bil namreč prvi turist v Afganistanu po 40-tih letih zaprtja države. Pred mikrofon ga je povabila Cirila Štuber.
