Ok...here is my challenge. I need to write up some summary on this book without alluding to Cheech and Chong, Kevin Smith, 420, Jamaican candles, Afroman, Mary Jane, or anything in that oeuvre. Instead, I need to focus on the content, and humanities battle against gods. I am soooo going to fail. Ok, we can do this. Focus on the content. I mean, it is not like there is nothing to talk about. Reed and T'challa go to the City of the Dead for goodness sake. How cool is that? And....AND...Three super powered ladies bring the PAIN to an Egyptian god. That is epic, legendary, and fantastic. Plus, countless heavy metal songs have been written about less. Dead skeletons attacking heroes, evil seeking power held by the good guys, cats and dogs fighting....I mean, this book has it all. Totally filled with wholesome destruction Did I mention giant cats eating people? That is a completely normal, everyday experience that is in no way tied to anything that could be considered.....well.... OKAY...OKAY...this is nothing but a big drug trip. Are you happy now! Episode 74 - Moon Knight - City of the Dead This week we are continue our look at recent Moon Knight series.  First up we dive into issues number 21-24 of the currently Moon Knight comic, and then its on to the 5-issue limited series City of the Dead, where we see the comic debut of a character fans of the TV show are already very familiar with.  This Week's Stack Moon Knight (2021-2023) #21-24 Moon Knight: City of the Dead (2023) #1-5 Issue Recaps and Discussion Topics Moon Knight (2021-2023) #21-24 21 - The Reese issue (with a Jake cameo)  22 - Follow the money  22 - This is when he's happy  23 - Resolution through non-violence  24 - Morpheus enters The Big Sleep courtesy of Black Spectre  24 – He tries to give Mark, Steven and Jake some peace before he goes Moon Knight: City of the Dead (2023) #1-5 Cross-pollination – New characters starting in TV or movies and then making the jump to comics is still unusual, but is happening more.    This feels very much like something Doug Moench might have written.  Reminds me a bit of Vol 3's “The Resurrection War.”  See our PotMK episode entitled “It Turns Out He Was Only Mostly Dead” for more on that.  A lot of character narration over the action. Characters introduced themselves every issue.  Do all faiths end up in the Duat in the Marvel universe?  This I do not understand.  It also seems weird that there are cars and modern cities.    This is a bit of a “greatest hits” album, bringing back almost all of MKs old foes – or at least the truly villainous ones.  No Scarlett, for instance. Legion of the Unliving is quite the name.  It's always Randall when you least expect it!  We have a Khonshu sighting  Also is a bit weird, in that it finishes with Layla saying “Be Seeing you, Marc.”  Will she??  On Earth?  Or back in the Duat?  I think Lyla is back on earth. Resurrected for her help defeating Jackal Knight Randall  What's up with him just completely forgetting about the fact he has a girlfriend?  Greer deserves better than this guy.  Final Thoughts What's Next  Moon Knight (2021-2023) #25-30 Signoff  Questions or comments We'd love to hear from you!  Email us at questions@comicsovertime.com or find us on Twitter @comicsoftime. ------------------ Music Intro and Outro created by Lesfm.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Hollywood Undead over Zoom video!Multi-platinum rap rock band Hollywood Undead shares the music video for “House of Mirrors” featuring multi-genre sensation Jelly Roll. Available exclusively on the digital version of Hotel Kalifornia Deluxe.Originally released in 2022, Hotel Kalifornia represents “a juxtaposition between the ‘haves' and the 'have-nots,' highlighting the ongoing homelessness and cost of living crisis that is affecting the band's home state of California.” The album highlights the best aspects of what Hollywood Undead has become known for, garnering support from Revolver, SPIN, New Noise Magazine. Hotel Kalifornia also saw placements on genre playlists such as Spotify's Rock Hard, Hard Rock & Rock Rotation, Apple Music's Breaking Hard Rock & New in Rock, and Top 40 placement at US Rock & Active Rock Radio with the standout single “City Of The Dead.”ABOUT HOLLYWOOD UNDEADNot long after the turn of the century, a collective of friends congregated around a common vision bred in the gutters and back alleys of Hollywood, CA. Under the influence of everything from gritty nineties hip-hop to industrial metal (not to mention cheap booze), they climbed out of similar experiences in poverty and hardship and vaulted to the forefront of 21st century rock music on their own terms. To this day, Hollywood Undead hinges on the bond of five individuals who relay such raw experiences into relatable anthems. However, the platinum-certified quintet—Johnny 3 Tears, J-Dog, Funny Man, Charlie Scene, and Danny—tell their story like never before on their recently released eighth full-length album, Hotel Kalifornia [Dove & Grenade Media/BMG].Throughout 2021, the boys recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles with producers Erik Ron (I Prevail, Godsmack), Andrew Migliore (Sueco, Zero 9:36 Papa Roach), and Drew Fulk (Ice Nine Kills, Lil Wayne, Lil Peep). Working face-to-face, Hollywood Undead rekindled the unbridled intensity of their formative material, yet with refinement only possible through years of grinding on the road.We want to hear from you!
