Most parents haven't been told why the shots were added, what problems they were created to solve, or how they continue to influence health today. (Thursday Bible Study) Psalm 106:32-43: "They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account, for they made his spirit bitter, and he spoke rashly with his lips. They did not destroy the peoples, as the LORD commanded them, but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did. They served their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood. Building your life on obedience to Jesus' words can be seen by everyone. The question is, "Is He worthy for us to build our lives upon?" Yes. He can give the grace to 1) see clearly enough to help another by removing the splinter from his eye without injuring the rest of him -- He helps us keep the log out of our own eyes; 2) be the kind of tree/branch that bears good fruit; 3) have good things grow in our heart so that what comes out of us is truly good and praiseworthy. (Luke 6:39-45) He also exhorts us to build our lives upon Him and His Word. He promises that if we do, our lives will be able to stand against judgements and tests from the world and to endure as a well-built life. He warns us that if we fail to build our lives upon Him and His Word, that our lives will surely suffer great collapse...if not in this life, for sure in the judgement to come (Luke 6:46-49). Then, again, we see that Jesus Is Greater than illness, distance, and physically visible presence (Luke 7:1-10). He is also greater than death. When He says "Arise," the one spoken to will surely arise (Luke 7:11-17).

What is the cause of all the ills and suffering we see in the world and in our nation? Is it the failure of public schools, the failure of government, bad parenting, or something else, something that stands behind all these things? Listen and find out.

We know the Bible is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. We know it is meant to equip us for every good work. Those words will come up later in our study of 2 Timothy. If we're honest, we also understand how it can be a struggle to make the connection from the inspired and living and sharper-than-any-two edged-sword words on the page to our own lives. It's especially tough when you face opposition from those you try to serve, or when you pour your heart into some ministry and people are apathetic, or they become critical rather than thankful. It's also harder for the younger and less experienced when the sledding gets tough. All those factors were coming together and teaming up against Timothy during his labors in the church at Ephesus. Maybe you're weary. Maybe you have been or are now dealing with a physical illness. Maybe your plans failed to pan out. Maybe you were betrayed by someone. Maybe you have been sinned against in some other way. Maybe it's been a long time since you've seen someone turn to Christ or show real evidence of growing in Him. Maybe you've been bereaved, and getting over your grief and loss is like trying to let go of fly paper. Maybe it's all making you anxious. Maybe you're worried. If any of those things or other discouragements describe you today, this is the place to be and this passage is the one to apply.
