On this episode of In Every Season, we delve into the world of real estate through the lens of faith and personal values. Our guest, Lindsay Carlile, shares her journey of finding purpose in her real estate career as a ministry. We explore the emotional aspects of buying and selling homes and the importance of walking with Jesus in this line of work. Lindsay reveals how she has experienced guidance from the Holy Spirit in helping clients find the right home and even praying with them during the process. Throughout our conversation, we discover that Jesus is a significant presence in Lindsay's business, shaping her perspective and approach. She views her work in real estate as more than just a job or business, seeing it as an opportunity to make a lasting impact on people's lives. But it's not all smooth sailing. Lindsay opens up about the challenges of balancing work and motherhood, discussing the need to sometimes prioritize work while still being present for her children. We also explore the setbacks and discouragements that can come with pursuing our callings, including the negative feedback from family and the fear of change. Lindsay shares a powerful story of someone who pursued their dream later in life, giving listeners permission to pursue their own dreams at any age. In addition to the personal aspects of our conversation, Lindsay provides us with valuable insights into the current real estate market. We discuss the impact of COVID-19 on housing prices, interest rates, and inventory. Lindsay brings her expertise as we unpack the challenges and opportunities in the industry, revealing how the market has shifted and how it affects potential homeowners. In today's episode of In Every Season, I had the privilege of speaking to someone who truly embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship- Frank F. Fagundes. From humble beginnings, he worked tirelessly to build a successful business and impart his hard-earned wisdom to others. His experiences taught him that success requires hard work, dedication, and taking calculated risks. As a host, listening to his story was both inspiring and humbling. What struck me the most was how he emphasized the importance of having a clear vision for what you want to achieve and surrounding yourself with like-minded people who share your values. Hearing him talk about the strategic partnerships they formed and the emphasis they placed on building long-term relationships with customers made me realize that success isn't just about making a profit - it's about making a positive impact on those around you. This episode was a reminder that success is achievable, regardless of where you come from or what challenges you face. All it takes is a willingness to work hard, believe in yourself, and stay true to your values. I feel honored to have had the opportunity to speak with someone like Frank who embodies these qualities and hope that his story inspires others to pursue their dreams with courage and determination. Key Moments: [00:02:05] Frank starts a sandwich shop in San Francisco. [00:06:30] Started store, built brand, franchised successfully. [00:13:12] Knowing yourself is key to success. [00:16:29] Customer experience, healthy options, changing patterns. [00:20:07] Non-techy, gifted in numbers, evolved with team. [00:24:39] CEO designated founder, wife led company growth. [00:32:13] Success comes with hard work and sacrifice. [00:34:20] Legacy building and entrepreneurship over security. [00:38:36] Failed marriage due to business involvement. [00:43:44] Entrepreneurship requires a supportive team. [00:47:23] "Prune relationships for sustainable connections and growth." [00:49:05] Enjoy small moments, they make difference. If there's one thing we've learned about life, it's that there's always more to unpack. That season may have passed, but there's plenty to be learned from it. We see these things come back up in our daily lives and we see how one season may affect the next, or lies dormant until years down the line. But it's important that we have the courage to stare the experiences in the face and take the opportunity life has given us to grow. On today's episode, Tess and I talk about our journeys of healing and self-discovery. For me, as I write this book about my life experiences that go deep into some of my most exhausting struggles, I've experienced another level of self-discovery and healing. We discuss the importance of addressing trauma and we unpack the root of mental health issues. Our conversation also touches on dealing with difficult situations and finding freedom through honesty and transparency and the importance of how as a society, being open and honest is going to directly impact the next generation. On this episode of In Every Season, we discuss the impact of social media on our lives and the importance of slowing down and understanding our emotions to avoid negative impacts. We go on to talk about the importance of quality family, building empires with people you love, and evaluating our access to certain people and places. The conversation focuses on creating the quality of life you want and identifying red flags that may indicate a need to slow down or make different decisions. Moreover, we explore how people can overcome discomfort or conflict that may arise when pursuing personal growth and greatness. They also weigh in on the importance of authenticity and honesty in business versus competing on hype and Kool-Aid moments. The episode cautions against measuring success or expertise based solely on high income and emphasizes the importance of accountability partners. In the end, we truly stress that prioritizing in-person interactions and intentional relationships is crucial in maintaining balance and a positive atmosphere within ourselves. Timestamps: [00:01:00] Tess and I are excited to discuss endurance, growth, and discipline in our personal and business lives, and offer advice on how to overcome emotional obstacles and make difficult decisions. [00:04:23] It is important to use the right metrics to measure success and not be constantly influenced by social media, as it can negatively impact our internal atmosphere. We should slow down and understand why we feel the way we do, focus on what really matters, like family, and not compare ourselves to others based on what they present online. Building a successful empire is pointless if we have no one to share it with. [00:11:40] Prioritizing self-care by reevaluating who gets access to personal space and energy, and being mindful of how activities and relationships affect mental and emotional health. Learning to listen to the body when it feels out of alignment and knowing when to let go without over-explaining. [00:14:21] Setting boundaries and creating the life you want may lead to disagreement, but it's important to not take it personally and create space to make decisions and maintain balance. [00:21:13] Having accountability partners is important, communication through social media is not a high value relationship, and it's important to be intentional with relationships and invest in them at a level ten. The noise of social media can make it lonely and it's important to be aware and prioritize relationships. [00:23:46] The breakthrough is peace of mind and restoring joy daily, avoiding distractions and being intentional with prayer time. Leaders should avoid isolation and connect with others through intimate questions and quality friendships. [00:29:07] A woman opposes the trend of real estate agents boasting about their income and number of properties owned. [00:30:32] Don't measure success by money, focus on quality clients and transactions. Authenticity and learning are key. Metrics and measurables can be misleading. [00:32:59] Quality over hype is important in business. Social media can obscure someone's true story. Building relationships with people face-to-face is valuable. [00:34:52] Evaluate your life and find balance to achieve quality in all areas. Money doesn't have to come at the expense of relationships and peace. We love hearing from our listeners! Authenticity is power. On the road to success, we'll often feel the need to hide who we truly are in order to win people over to our ideas or see our value. True power is in being unafraid to be who you are, and knowing that you'll always attract the right people to your mission. Today's guest offers a tremendously beautiful perspective that you don't get to hear very often. Novi is so much more than her health struggles, and the way she has chosen to live her life is wholly representative of the kind of loving, experiential, woman that she is. In 2015, at twenty-seven years old, while living in Rotterdam, Novi was first diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Thus began Novi's seven-year battle to elongate her timeline and soak in every experience she could. On March 30, 2022, Novi was presented with another timeframe of life expectancy, six months to a year. Novi will not be pursuing any more medical interventions. Instead she is choosing quality time with loved ones as her priority. She desires to spend the remaining time in her body doing things that bring her joy. We're grateful to Novi for taking the time to share her voice, share her story, and share her perspective on an episode that we believe captures the softness and grace of her spirit. Today's guest is a man that doesn't just talk about change, but actually fights for it. For nearly two years, Ian and his business partner, Frank, have taken on Phil Murphy and his tyrannical mandates. They've been harassed, arrested, fined thousands of dollars a day, had hundreds of thousands of dollars seized from their bank account, had their business license revoked, and kicked down the doors to their own facility when Phil Murphy attempted to barricade them out. They took a stand for what was right and haven't backed down from that fight. They made a promise to each other and to their families that no matter how hard it got, they would stay true to their values and beliefs and never surrender to the demands of a hostile Governor. IAN SMITH Ian was born in Philadelphia and moved to Delanco at an early age. He was raised in Delanco and Mount Laurel by a single mother who worked a full-time job to put herself through college while raising her son. Ian's grandmother helped raise him and was an important part of his life until her passing while he was in high school. Ian lives in Delanco, in the same house his mom bought when he was a young boy. He lives there with his own family, his wife and stepson. Ian attended Rutgers and earned his degree at Arizona State University. He started a business in 2015 and opened Atilis Gym Bellmawr in 2019 with his partner, Frank. MORE PLACES YOU CAN FIND IAN Instagram - @iansmithfitness Website - www.theatilisgym.com

We're faced with choices every single day. Some, simpler than others. To hit snooze or to get up? To order food that fits my diet or order what I actually want? To maintain my boundaries and let some people down or compromise my boundaries to keep the peace? We always approach these decisions with the best of intentions, but that's not enough to vindicate us of the consequences of our choices. Which, let's be real here, there is a consequence to everything you do or don't do. How can we approach the chaos of making these tough choices while staying in touch with being present in every space we need to be? Hear our thoughts on this episode. Everyone's talking bitcoin, gold, stocks, cash- but the capital that doesn't get quite enough attention nowadays is social capital. When you want to get into anything, whether that be entrepreneurship, the movie industry, writing, etc,- and we've all heard people say that it- it's not what you know, it's who you know. But often it is because the people you know have poured into you and have helped you to know more. In any space, you can't discount help. That's one of the many facets of life that we cover today with our guest Kyle. Kyle Finley is the founder and CEO of Twin Termite & Pest Control based in Sacramento CA. He began his understanding of business as early as high school when he decided he wanted to get involved in his step-father's small pest control company. Eventually, he was inspired to build something of his own, and build it bigger. He started out of his garage with the mindset that he just had to put his head down and work for 10 years- that's truly the amount of time it often takes to know if your small business is actually a success or not. By year 7, he was able to begin paying himself. Today, his business has 4 locations and 55 employees total. We love hearing from our listeners! Mondays often feel like January 1st- you start off incredibly ambitious at the start of the week and either you crush it or it crushes you. For anyone, approaching everyday life with intentionality is like pushing a boulder up a mountain. For an entrepreneur, it can feel like that, plus wearing a ball and chain. Technology is making so many things easier, while at the same time bearing new challenges. With everything at our fingertips, disconnecting and decompression become that much harder. Our culture often associates sales with a feeling of sliminess. It can be a space that lacks integrity or care for the customer with salespeople simply trying to make a quick buck and hit their quotas. Today's guest is far from that, sharing his story of how he went from $0 to running multiple 7 figure businesses by remaining authentic and genuine while also pursuing his passion. Yes, it's possible to achieve big without compromising on your values. After losing everything, he started his business with only $300 and scaled his first company from 0 to multiple 7 figures on track to become an 8 figure brand with 7 employees and growing. It comes as no shock to anyone that one of the places that the past two years have hit the hardest has been the mental health of our young people. The only consistency many of our children have been able to experience is that everything is consistently inconsistent. Relationships have suffered, the ability to be present with our kids has suffered, and we're seeing the effects of that play out in our children's ability to perform academically. Today's guest understands this problem better than anyone. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from William Jessup University and her Masters in Social Work from California State University, Chico. When you start ANY kind of a business, there is nothing more imperative to your success than community. You need strong community within your staff, you need a strong community within your customer base, and just as important- you need a community of other entrepreneurs going down the same challenging path. Entrepreneurship to many is a game, but it's not a game that you get to choose the level of intensity. And as they say, if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. The same rule applies in business. Success in the game is going to require a lot of vulnerability around the right people who will hold the line of accountability, and it's a process that needs you to be open and honest with yourself. We're in a season of fight and push-through. Many people are feeling a bit off at the moment with so many external factors that are left to the unknown. Identity crises, grief, stagnation. A lot of us cope by saying yes to a lot of things when we need to be saying no to more- making time for grounding and processing. In these challenging moments, when you cannot rely on external factors, you need to have solid internal factors. Focus on the things you can control. There are always things to be grateful for, even in the darkest of times, even amidst the bloodiest of spiritual battles. In today's episode, we cover how you move forward and what you can create from it. We love feedback from our listeners! Connect with us on Instagram, leave a review, let us know what you think. It is EXTREMELY rare to know what exactly it is that you want to do in life. Some people are lucky enough to figure it out at an early age. For others, we reach our 30's and we find ourselves saying "I should have this figured out by now". I'll let you in on a little secret, none of us, at any age, have everything figured out. Today's amazing guest Eve talks about her journey of "figuring it out" and where she's at now. And gives us some interesting insight into what the tour-bus life is really like. Eve Overland is a celebrity personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Since 2010, she is best known for training country superstar Carrie Underwood. Both Carrie and Eve have a shared commitment to health, fitness, and wellness and collaborated in the creation of the fitness app, fit52 – which features a wide variety of workout routines that inspire users to follow their fitness journeys. She is actively involved with Underwood's CALIA by Carrie Underwood fitness line, serving as the on-set Movement Coordinator for photo/video content shoots and participating in various brand events throughout the year. She is also a contributor for Underwood's new fitness/lifestyle book, FIND YOUR PATH. We have a lot of parents who tune into our podcast. This past year and as it already appears, this upcoming school year, hasn't been and won't be a walk in the park. Many of us have been along for the ride with our children with no choice but to watch them struggle through at-home learning. But what we come to find out from today's guest, is that a large part of that struggle wasn't just that we were taken from the routine we've been so well adjusted to. It's that we- us and our children- have grown reliant on a system that needs us to need it. Here with us today is Matt Beaudreau, founder of Acton Academy Placer, co-founder of Apogee Strong, generational keynote speaker, and a dedicated father. He's been working in the education system for over 14 years and after seeing things from the inside, he realized there needed to be a better option for his own children. He describes Acton Academy Placer as a workplace for kids where the students work on the things they're passionate about while upholding community standards of strong character. People will make assumptions about you as you move through life and rumors and drama, unfortunately, don't end with high school. Today we have a special guest that I am grateful to call my friend, Chady Dunmore. Chady is an NLP Master Practitioner, a two-time WBFF Pro World Champ, and 16-time cover model. This is a woman who is an OG of fitness modeling before the likes of Instagram. We're unpacking how we often try to portray ourselves a certain way to the world and how the world chooses to see us and how that contrasts with the things we may be dealing with behind closed doors that no one knows about. Our last trip around the sun gave many of us the space to realize that there may be areas of our lives that we feel a level of discontentment. We had a lot of time to sit, think, and reflect on the kind of people we've been, the things that we haven't accomplished yet, and what direction we're currently going. It caused a lot of us to confront the fact that we've been living in our comfort zone for too long. In today's episode, we talk about how important it is for us to take risks and overcome challenges, face failure head-on, shift our trajectory when it's needed, and listen to those we trust. Being intentional about who we allow to speak into our lives and living our truth every day. And above all else, prioritizing our health- mental and physical. For Tess, she's going through a season of challenge with her fiancee', Mackenzie, and the resulting complications from a recent procedure that should have been simple. No one's marriage is perfect. No relationship is perfect. But in the day and age of social media, filters, and rose-colored glasses, it sure can appear that way. I didn't have a great picker. I had consigned to living a life solo- and was excited to do so. I was going to be just like Julia Roberts in Eat, Pray, Love. But little did I know that God had completely different plans for me. Enter Brandon. We dive into the inner workings of our own marriage and the transition from our old lives as two individuals to our new lives as one partnership. Brandon and I discuss the importance of having a relationship built on strong communication, transparency, and authenticity for each other and the impact it has on our children. With helpful and actionable advice for both married and single people, we really hope you'll enjoy this episode! Leave a rating and review to let us know what you think! We love all your feedback! So often in life we feel bogged down by the day-to-day. We feel stagnant- like we should be further along than we are or the past trauma and hurt just seems to always catch up with us and never goes away. That is just some of what we unpack on today's episode with our guest, Ashley Stanfield. Ashley is a successful entrepreneur, having created a multi-million dollar business through Arbonne and she is a captivating public speaker. Ashley is a mover and shaker and she shares with us some of her own struggles and how she has overcome them. A pivotal point of that being her choice of mindset- that is always the key. Growth often happens silently and when no one is looking. And while we know all too well how hard it is to feel like you are moving forward with all the crazy trials and tribulations of life, we're here to remind you that growth is exactly what those challenges are for. Today's episode is special with a dear friend of mine as our very first guest! Erin Kalte-Swanberg is a relator based in the Sacramento/Placer County area and is the author of "Awakened: A Divine Healing from Drug Addiction". We talk about how Erin and I came to be life-long friends and the journey of life lessons that we have been on together. Honesty and transparency is something we both value in our friendships and relationships and that is one of the things that I appreciate the most about Erin- she has no desire to project a perfect persona. Hear about her crazy journey to overcoming her addiction, finding her purpose, and how she navigates every season. We love and appreciate all of the feedback we have been getting from our loyal listeners! If you haven't yet, please rate this, share it with your friends, and let us know what you think of this episode! So many of us felt absolutely dragged through the mud by 2020. But this year, as we are beginning this new quarter, we're digging ourselves out. In today's episode, we unpack the topic of rebirth. We can't stop before the magic happens, but so many people do. So many people encounter natural moments of resistance in achieving their dreams or becoming the better version of themselves that they've always wanted to be. There will be uncomfortable moments, that's how we know we're growing and being authentic. Taking the first leap is just part of it, the self-discipline will keep you going. Be your first true believer. Be authentic. Be your own encourager and only accept the kind of people into your life who will encourage you on that journey. Don't be afraid to go all-in and be vulnerable in your personal growth. Find us on social: Jessica - @fitnesswink Tess - @tessdeterding
Life can be a rat race. Especially for people like us who are doers, movers, and shakers. We have jobs, projects, husbands/wives, kids, dreams, aspirations, and our days can seem like we're constantly going from one place to the next just being pulled in all different directions at once. I know for high achievers and go-getters like myself, we DO NOT STOP. Slowing down is for lazy people, not for us- if we slow down or stop, we won't get to our goal. I've had to really do some self-reflection in the past and ask myself what the root cause of why I feel I can't take a moment for myself. There were internal reasons that were far deeper than just the urgency to succeed. And I'm willing to bet it's the same for you. If you hadn't already guessed, today Tess and I are covering the concept of rest. Why it's so important, how you can actually make time for it, and how taking the time for you can help you to be more present when you give of your time to others. The human experience is a truly beautiful thing with an abundance of things to have gratitude for, but it's not without its seasons of chaos and strife. We want you to know with today's episode that you don't have to go through it alone and that you never truly are alone. As we get into this podcast, we really want you to feel like you know who we are. We unpack some of the biggest seasons of chaos for us as individuals; for me, the heartbreak that was losing my mother and dealing with the aftermath, and for Tess, the struggles that came with growing up in a Catholic environment and then needing to come to terms with her sexuality. We'll touch on how sometimes in the darkest seasons, you just need to focus on the next step ahead of you. You truly need forgiveness towards those things which have wronged you in order to experience a healing of your spirit, because our creativity, the quality of our relationships, and our mental health all depend on everything being right in your heart. We hope you enjoy our first official episode! Please let us know what you think by leaving a review, and giving us your feedback on Instagram! Growth is a journey, not an end product. As the saying goes, if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Our passion as new podcasters is to use our experiences and lessons to help listeners through the long-haul, so we are so excited to kick off our new journey of podcasting with you! In our very first episode, we discuss how we can use pain as our teacher- we cannot know great joy without knowing great sorrow. Along the same vein, it's always important to slow down and take the time to celebrate yourself and your accomplishments and allow yourself to feel and accept joy in those times. After all, we are harder on ourselves than anyone else ever could be because we frequently feel the need to avoid being exposed and hide our vulnerabilities at all costs. Coming out of 2020, which was a revealing year in and of itself, we have all come away from it stronger than we were before, with more challenges that we have overcome, and a higher sense of self-awareness under our belts. Now, let's take the opportunity together to allow it to prepare us for the season that we're in, and every season that is to come. How can we grow with you?
