Former President Donald Trump's sold the leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) oil leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to expand fossil fuel development in the United States. Then reported by, NBC news, On June 1, 2021, The Biden administration suspended oil and gas leases in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, reversing a drilling program approved by the Trump administration and reviving a political fight over a remote region that is home to polar bears and other wildlife — and a rich reserve of oil. Unfortunately, the good news did not last long.According to WSJ, A federal judge in Louisiana issued a preliminary injunction blocking the Biden administration from pausing new oil and gas leases on federal land.Judge Terry A. Doughty of the U.S. District Court in Monroe said the administration doesn't have the legal right to stop leasing federal territory for oil-and-gas production without approval from Congress. The judge, appointed by former President Donald Trump, also said that states suing the federal government—largely southern and coastal states—will be harmed immediately as the pause prevents them from collecting lease bids and bonuses from oil-and-gas prospectors. The suit was filed by the states of Louisiana, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and West Virginia.Mr. Biden, during his first week in office, directed the Interior Department to suspend the program, among several new initiatives aimed at addressing climate change.I hope you enjoyed listening to the episode. If humans can eliminate or reduce beef from their diet, , we can save these precious forests. Remember, when a forest is lost, there are truly little no chance to recover. It’s gone forever. Because the forests did not grow in one, it took hundreds of years to grow. Anyways, I am sad to learn these facts but there is still time to do something. In this Episode Saima talks about AMAZON Deforestation which has hit it's highest rate in a decade. AMAZON being the largest rainforest in the world is also a vital carbon store that slows down the pace of global warming. The rain forests, which contain 90-140 billion metric tons of carbon, help stabilize local and global climate. Deforestation may release significant amounts of this carbon, which could have catastrophic consequences around the world.
This Planet Earth and Environment podcast produced by NAZMA-ENTERTAINMENT (A film production company) is about sharing and discussing about Planet Earth & Environment that includes wide variety of subjects – climate change, wildlife conservation and saving our oceans. I am not a scientist but saving and protecting our planet and the environmental changes are important to me. I strongly believe that we need to keep reminding ourselves things like how the environment around us are impacting the planet that we live in and what can and will be done to save our planet. Some experts say Protecting Our Planet starts with humans.
