Chris Smaje visits Crazy Town for some farmer-to-farmer straight talk with Jason Bradford. Are these two long lost cousins? Both dropped out of academia years ago to become philosophizing farmers (can we call them “pharmers” with a “ph,” as in PhD?!?). Chris's latest book, Finding Lights in a Dark Age: Sharing Land, Work and Craft explores how we can move from modernity's unsustainable political economy toward a re-organization of society, driven by communities and local food systems. In this wide-ranging conversation, Chris and Jason cover everything from Viking raids to agrarian populism, from societal collapse to the practicalities of making your way in a failed state. And they can't get away from the shop talk of gardens, livestock, and home economics. The uncritical adoption of 'humane', 'cage-free', 'free-range', and lab-grown meat by animal advocates, funded by effective altruism philanthropy and the animal agriculture industry, not only reproduces the myth that meat is normal, natural, and necessary, it represents an ultimate defeat for animals. Vasile Stănescu, animal liberation scholar exposes the 'humane' hoax and explains why the failure of many animal advocates to frame veganism as a social justice movement in solidarity with other social justice movements is sustaining and reproducing systems of oppression and exploitation of humans, animals, and nature. Highlights include: How parents and society teach us to repress the childhood trauma that's triggered when we learn about the animal suffering and death from eating animal products; Why the so-called 'humane', 'cage free', and 'free range' agriculture practices are a hoax funded by the animal agriculture industry that are even more harmful for the animals — both wild and domesticated — and the planet than the conventional factory farming systems they claim to replace; Moral philosopher Peter Singer's complicity in perpetuating these 'humane' myths, and the growing shift from liberation to welfarism within the animal advocacy movement through Singer-supported effective altruism philanthropy; The relevance of Jevon's paradox to animal advocacy and how new categories such as 'cage-free' or 'free-range' do not replace the old system, but rather expand it, and why animal advocates must reject market-based or technology-based 'solutions' as they sustain and reproduce the current system of speciesism, exploitation, and growthism; How the slaughterhouse and its dis-assembly line of animals' bodies became the template for the manufacturing assembly line of modern capitalism; How western governments historically promoted 'cheap meat' to keep the laboring classes content with their low wages and help them continue feeling superior to the 'effeminate' and 'weak' rice and corn eaters of colonized Asia and South America; How vegetarian and vegan eating are pathologized in a way that diets with animal products are not — even though large consumption of animal products is in no way 'natural' in much of the world or through the majority of human history; Why lab-grown meat — still in its experimental phase — is not vegan, as its growth medium relies on the blood of unborn cows, not environmentally beneficial, as it requires huge amounts of energy, and is exorbitantly expensive; meanwhile, in collaborating with the animal agriculture industry for its creation, proponents of lab-grown meat are throwing animals — and animal advocacy — under the bus; Why some animal rights activists turn to effective altruists and the money they offer to placate their despair and see short-term 'faux wins' - while not appreciating that successful social justice movements have always taken time and persistence; Why veganism should be framed not as a consumerist diet lifestyle option but as a social justice movement in solidarity with other social justice movements. The podcast explores needed narrative, behavioral, and system shifts for recreating human life in balance with all life on Earth. With expert guests from wide-ranging disciplines, we examine the forces underlying overshoot: from patriarchal pronatalism that is fueling overpopulation, to growth-biased economic systems that lead to consumerism and social injustice, to the dominant worldview of human supremacy that subjugates animals and nature. Our vision of shrinking toward abundance inspires us to seek pathways of transformation that go beyond technological fixes toward a new humanity that honors our interconnectedness with all beings.  Hosted by Nandita Bajaj and Alan Ware. In a wide-ranging interview, Dr. Sylvain Charlebois ("The Food Professor") discusses whether lab-grown (cellular) meat is overhyped, citing consumer acceptance, cost, and labeling as key barriers, though he found lab-grown chicken indistinguishable in taste and notes potential for nutrient customization. The conversation then turns to Canadian food inflation, arguing there is little evidence grocers are gouging consumers via higher margins, though grocers pressure suppliers through fees, affecting prices and supply-chain discipline. Charlebois contends food inflation is largely structural and policy-driven, pointing to trade barriers, carbon tax impacts, logistics, supply management, counter-tariffs, and the GST holiday's inflationary effect. He proposes solutions focused on competition, tax relief, logistics investment, and policy reform, and closes with a cautious view of ultra-processed food rhetoric, emphasizing consumer information over bans.   Dr. Sylvain Charlebois is a professor of food distribution and policy at Dalhousie University and director of the Agri-Food Analytics Lab, where his work focuses on food distribution, food policy, food security, and food safety. Widely known as "The Food Professor," he is one of Canada's most recognized voices on food inflation, grocery pricing, supply chains, and the future of food. His research has been featured in major outlets including The Economist, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Globe and Mail, and he also hosts The Food Professor Podcast. In this episode, he breaks down what's really driving food prices in Canada, whether grocers are being unfairly blamed, the debate around lab-grown meat, and how ultra-processed foods and GLP-1 drugs are reshaping the food industry.   Sylvain / The Food Professor The Food Professor on X — https://x.com/FoodProfessor Sylvain Charlebois on LinkedIn — https://ca.linkedin.com/in/thefoodprofessor The Food Professor Podcast — https://the-food-professor.simplecast.com/ Food Tech / Salmon AquaBounty — https://aquabounty.com/our-salmon/why-aquabounty-salmon FDA AquAdvantage Salmon Fact Sheet — https://www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/aquadvantage-salmon/aquadvantage-salmon-fact-sheet Sustainable Blue — https://www.sustainableblue.com/ Canada Food Policy / Data Canada Grocery Code of Conduct — https://canadacode.org/ Code of Conduct Page — https://canadacode.org/code/code-of-conduct/ Health Canada Front-of-Package Nutrition Symbol — https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/food-nutrition/nutrition-labelling/front-package.html Statistics Canada Household Income — https://www.statcan.gc.ca/hub-carrefour/quality-life-qualite-vie/prosperity-prosperite/household-income-revenu-menage-eng.htm CUSMA — https://www.international.gc.ca/trade-commerce/trade-agreements-accords-commerciaux/agr-acc/cusma-aceum/index.aspx?lang=eng GST/HST Holiday Page — https://www.canada.ca/en/services/taxes/child-and-family-benefits/gst-hst-holiday-tax-break.html David Dodge, Bank of Canada Profile — https://www.bankofcanada.ca/profile/david-dodge/ Companies / Brands Mentioned Loblaw Companies — https://loblaw.ca/ Sobeys — https://www.sobeys.com/ Walmart Canada — https://www.walmartcanada.ca/ CBC Organization Profile — https://federal-organizations.canada.ca/profil.php?OrgID=CBC&lang=en Johnson & Johnson — https://www.jnj.com/ McDonald's Canada — https://www.mcdonalds.com/ca/en-ca.html GLP-1 / Weight Loss Drugs Ozempic Canada — https://www.ozempic.ca/en_ca.html Wegovy Canada — https://www.wegovy.ca/en_ca.html Media / Podcast Reference The Joe Rogan Experience — https://open.spotify.com/show/4rOoJ6Egrf8K2IrywzwOMk   Show Notes 00:00 Welcome to the Hart2Heart Podcast  00:37 Lab Meat Hype Cycle 01:50 How Cultured Meat Works 03:06 Acceptance and Cost Barriers 04:46 Taste Test and Nutrition Tweaks 06:54 Vegans Vegetarians and Labeling 14:53 Canada Food Inflation Debate 15:57 Grocers Fees and Supplier Squeeze 17:40 Policy Roots and Middle Class Squeeze 21:06 Fixes Without More Spending 23:27 Supply Management Price Premiums 24:51 Politics Crises and Inflation Spending 26:53 Inflation And Taxes 27:38 Conservative Policy Impact 28:19 Grocer Margins And Manufacturing 30:05 GST Holiday Backfire 33:18 Media Blind Spots 35:05 Counter Tariffs Price Ripple 37:41 Carney Versus Poilievre 42:53 Media Subsidies And CBC 44:39 Ultra Processed Food Debate 48:54 Addiction Obesity And GLP1 51:30 Regulation Tradeoffs Wrap Up 52:51 Where To Follow Closing   The Hart2Heart podcast is hosted by family physician Dr. Michael Hart, who is dedicated to cutting through the noise and uncovering the most effective strategies for optimizing health, longevity, and peak performance. Cattle Industry News Nebraska Fire Relief After more than 800,000 acres have burned in Nebraska wildfires, livestock producers are now searching for places to graze their animals. The Nebraska Cattlemen's Association says there are two main options — both showing how neighbors are stepping up to help. One option is feeding cattle hay. Donations are arriving by the truckload, but hay can still be expensive. The second option is a free online tool called the Nebraska Grazing Exchange. It connects ranchers who need land with farmers who have pasture available. People who want to help can sign up, list what they can offer, and connect directly with ranchers in need. Once a match is made, the next step is moving the animals to that land. Laura Field, Executive Vice President of Nebraska Cattlemen, says support has been overwhelming. She says tough times like this bring out the best in the agriculture community. Field says some ranchers have lost up to 70 or 80 percent of their summer grazing land, and may need to move cattle to entirely different regions — even out of state. But she says help is coming from all directions — across the country. Field also says she doesn't expect long-term economic damage. She says Nebraska's beef industry is strong and resilient, and will weather this challenge. While moving cattle — also known as rotational grazing — isn't new, the situation right now is complicated. Field says burned areas are filled with damaged equipment like fencing, water systems, and other infrastructure. She says groups are working with state and federal partners to match needs with resources and get supplies where they're needed most. As for concerns about ranchers leaving the state, Field says the grass will grow back — and the cattle will return. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture adds that grazing can actually help prevent future wildfires by reducing dry plant material. Nebraska Grazing Exchange   References: https://www.klkntv.com/online-tool-connects-farmers-with-available-land-to-cattle-ranchers-in-need-of-grazing-area-after-wildfires/   Global Meat Trade & Demand A series of market-moving events, including a strike at a JBS beef plant, geopolitical tensions involving Iran, shifting oil prices and tariff uncertainty, have yet to derail strong beef demand, as wholesale prices continued to climb, according to analysis by Drovers and Sterling Marketing Profit Tracker. Market fundamentals have shifted in recent weeks. Lower fed cattle prices combined with higher boxed beef values improved packer margins while pressuring feedlots. For the week ending March 14, packer margins were estimated at a loss of $54.17 per head, narrowing from deeper losses in prior weeks. The beef cutout rose to $390.66 per cwt. Feedlot margins turned negative, estimated at a loss of $48.79 per head. Elevated breakevens continue to  pressure feedlots despite strong demand. Hamburger prices on restaurant menus are 14% higher in the last three years, but beef production costs jumped 32% since January 2023, according to a new report from food industry intelligence firm,  Datassential. Burger inflation is roughly in line with broader restaurant prices, despite the effects of chronically tight beef supplies. Food away from home — which approximates all food service including dine-in, takeout and delivery — rose 4% in 2025 and is 13% higher since January 2023, according to the federal government's Consumer Price Index. The Datassential report pointed out that restaurant pricing strategy can keep prices on popular items in check to avoid hurting turnover, while causing cost burdens to be spread throughout the operation. Burgers in particular are a source of traffic, especially in the quick-service segment. References: https://meatingplace.com/wholesale-beef-prices-rise-despite-market-disruptions-demand-remains-strong/ https://meatingplace.com/mcflation-beef-costs-outstripping-burger-menu-prices/?utm_source=omeda&utm_medium=email&utm_cid=1103020073&utm_campaign=MTGMCD260319017&utm_date=20260320-0300 Packer Consolidation Under Washington Crosshairs Efforts to scrutinize consolidation in the U.S. meat industry are gaining new momentum in Washington, as lawmakers from both parties increasingly target large packers amid persistently high beef prices. In recent months, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer has floated legislation aimed at restructuring the industry, while President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Justice to investigate major beef packers for potential antitrust violations. The unusual bipartisan convergence reflects mounting political pressure to address food affordability, even as economists and industry leaders say the fundamental driver of high beef prices lies elsewhere. The renewed focus on meatpacker consolidation follows years of debate over the market dominance of the so-called “Big Four” beef packers (JBS, Tyson Foods, Cargill and National Beef), which together handle roughly 80% of U.S. cattle slaughter. Trump last fall directed the DOJ to investigate whether large packers engaged in “Illicit Collusion, Price Fixing, and Price Manipulation,” while several Republican lawmakers voiced support for stronger antitrust enforcement. At the same time, Schumer and other Democrats are preparing legislation that would attempt to curb consolidation across the food system, including potentially forcing meat companies to focus on a single protein.   Reference: https://meatingplace.com/in-depth-meatpacker-consolidation-back-in-washingtons-crosshairs/?utm_source=omeda&utm_medium=email&utm_cid=1103020073&utm_campaign=MTGMCD260320014&utm_date=20260321-0630   Florida Ban On Lab-Grown Meat Update Florida's ban on cultivated meat will stay in place after a federal appeals court upheld the law in a ruling released Monday. The case was brought by Upside Foods, a California company that produces lab-grown chicken, after the law took effect in July of 2024. A three-judge panel on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the ban does not conflict with federal laws regulating traditional poultry. The court said the state law doesn't control how the product is made — only whether it can be sold — meaning federal law does not override it. The decision also upholds an earlier ruling from a federal district court that dismissed the case. Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, who supported the law, called the ruling a win for farmers and consumers. Governor Ron DeSantis, who signed the bill, has also defended the measure, saying it protects Florida agriculture from what he calls “lab-grown alternatives.” Florida was the first state to pass a ban on cultivated meat. Since then, several others — including Alabama, Indiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, and Texas — have followed. The bans come as the lab-grown meat industry is still in its early stages. The Food and Drug Administration first approved cultivated meat for sale in 2022. Supporters of the industry argue these state laws could slow innovation, cost jobs, and limit competition. It's not yet clear if Upside Foods plans to appeal the ruling. Opponents of protecting the state's hemp industry site public health and pediatric safety as major reasons for stricter oversight of products. Testin says many elements being proposed are "heavy handed", especially for an industry already established. Lab grown meat labeling, on the other hand, is something that Testin says needs more labeling. He says if consumers prefer to eat something grown in a petri dish versus a pasture, they have that right - but, that all consumers should be informed of what they're buying or consuming. Today Stephanie Hoff catches up with Maria Woldt, program manager for the UW Dairy Innovation Hub. Every dairy cow in Wisconsin generates approximately $41,500 in economic activity annually, a statistic that underscores the importance of the UW Dairy Innovation Hub's mission. Now in its sixth year, the Hub has funded over 260 projects. While some results are immediate, many are long-term investments that prioritize sustainable growth over quick fixes. In the last fiscal year alone, the Hub trained 310 students (mostly undergraduates) from diverse academic backgrounds ranging from political science to soil science to ignite interest in dairy careers. Researchers at UW-Platteville recently secured a patent for converting cheese whey into biodegradable 3D-printing filament, providing a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based plastics. The Hub is playing the "long game" by studying how dairy ingredients can be used to treat or prevent non-communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes, dementia, and IBS. Despite a volatile dairy economy, the Hub serves as a "bright spot" for farmers by focusing on innovation that benefits the entire supply chain, regardless of farm size or management style. Temps keep warming around Wisconsin. Stu Muck says the forecast doesn't hold much snow, which is keeping winter skiers and snowmobilers in place. Lab grown meat is getting another look at the state capitol. Pam Jahnke visits with WI Senator Pat Testin about the flurry of activity he's keeping track of. Testin says he has visited a lab producing lobster in the past. While not to his taste, Testin says if consumers are going to have lab based meat as an option, labeling is clearly something that must be in place. The financial distribution of about $11 billion in USDA aid is underway. Sandy Chalmers, state executive director for USDA's Farm Service Agency offices says operators should watch for a pre-certified document being mailed. Once that document is certified and returned to FSA, ALL of the money under the Farmer Bridge Assistance Program will be disbursed. The market's looking for news these days according to John Heinberg, market advisor with Total Farm Marketing in West Bend. All eyes continue to look to South America and their weather patterns. It's Monday, November 24th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian Muslim terrorists abducted 300 Catholic students and staff Muslim terrorists abducted 315 Catholic students and staff from St. Mary's School in the northern region of Nigeria on Friday, reports International Christian Concern.  Those kidnapped include 303 students and 12 teachers. It's one of the worst kidnappings in the nation's history, which has tragically become a flashpoint for persecution against Catholics and Protestants. No doubt many of them are echoing the prayer of Psalm 141:1-2 where David wrote, “I call to You, Lord, come quickly to me; hear me when I call to You. May my prayer be set before You like incense.” Back in 2014, Boko Haram, an Islamic terrorist group, seized 276 Chibok schoolgirls. In addition, the Islamic State West Africa Province and Fulani Muslim herdsmen have also wreaked havoc on the West African country. The Trump administration, which designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern, has recently pressured the Nigerian government to do more to protect Catholics and Protestants. During the past 20 years, Nigerian Muslims have killed 50,000 Christians, displacing hundreds of thousands more. Shawn Wright, the new president of International Christian Concern, issued an urgent call to action. To the government of Nigeria, he called officials to: Deploy specialized rescue forces immediately and recover the abducted Christians without delay. Strengthen protection for Christian institutions. Address underlying persecution. And to the United States government, Shawn Wright called officials to: Immediately enact tougher economic sanctions against Nigeria. leverage assistance to Nigeria based on results. Support civil society and Christian groups in Nigeria. Use diplomatic influence there. Wright said, “When children are hauled from their dormitories, when …  teachers are terrorized, when entire communities live in the shadow of fear — silence is complicity.” Former Brazilian President arrested ahead of vigil to prevent escape Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was taken into custody on Saturday, hours before a vigil was to be held outside his residence, reports One America News. On Saturday, the former president's period of house arrest ended after having been confined since August for violating a ban on the use of social media. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son, posted a video on Friday calling for a vigil in front of his father's condominium where Javier was under house arrest. Flavio said, “I invite you to fight with us.” Brazil's Supreme Court ruled that the planned vigil could “cause serious harm to public order,” and potentially prevent Bolsonaro from being arrested or enable his “escape.” Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes said that Bolsonaro violated his ankle monitor early Saturday morning. President Donald Trump, a long-term ally of Bolsonaro, denounced the charges against the former Brazilian leader as politically motivated, calling it a “witch hunt.” He imposed a 50% tariff on United States imports of Brazilian goods in response, which Trump began to roll back this month following a meeting with current President Luiz da Silva. Canadian pork producer objects to unlabeled lab-grown meat One of Canada's largest organic pork producers says the public deserves clear labelling, and a real choice before cloned meat hits supermarket shelves, reports Rebel News. Normally, experimental items like this fall under Canada's novel foods category, requiring a thorough pre-market safety assessment. This framework mandates that developers provide detailed data on production, contaminants, allergens, toxins, and nutrition. Health Canada reviews typically take about 410 days. However, Health Canada quietly released a statement on November 13th concluding, based on "all available information" and "scientific opinion," that foods from lab-grown clones of healthy cattle and swine are as safe as those from traditionally bred animals. This lab-grown meat has rightly been dubbed “franken-beef” like Frankenstein, the grotesque humanoid character, created in the imagination of Mary Shelley in 1818, who was put together using different body parts from fresh graves and vaults of skeletal remains. Health Canada has innocuously labeled the lab-grown meat as “cellular agriculture.” Proverbs 12:22 says, “The LORD detests lying lips, but He delights in people who are trustworthy.” Tamara Ugolini of Rebel News offered this warning to Canadians. UGOLINI: “Health Canada has decided there's no meaningful difference between lab-grown, cloned meat and real life grown meat. So, no labels, no warnings, and, once again, no transparency from the agency allegedly dedicated to regulatory openness and transparency.” Vincent Breton, a legitimate live pork producer, said, “Consumers should have the right to decide for themselves whether they are going to buy genetically modified foods.” Marjorie Taylor Greene resigns from Congress after clash with Trump Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Make America Great Again firebrand who rose to prominence as a combative supporter of President Donald Trump, announced late Friday she is resigning from Congress after a public feud with him, reports Politico.com. Greene, who was elected to Congress in 2020 from a rural northwestern Georgia district, made the surprise announcement in an 11-minute video address. She cited her willingness to oppose the Democratic agenda which was costly on a personal level. GREENE: “I have fought against Democrats' damaging policies like the Green New Deal, wide open, deadly, unsafe border policies, and the trans agenda on children and against women. With that has brought years of non-stop, never-ending personal attacks, death threats, lawfare, ridiculous slander and lies about me that most people could never withstand even for a single day.” She also noted the handful of differences she had with President Trump. GREENE: “I never changed or went back on my campaign promises and only disagreed in a few areas, like my stance against H-1B replacing American jobs, AI state moratoriums, debt-for-life-50-year-mortgage scams, standing strongly against all involvement in foreign wars and demanding the release of the Epstein files. Other than that, my voting record has been solidly with my party and the president. “Loyalty should be a two-way street, and we should be able to vote our conscience and represent our district's interests because our job title is literally Representative.'” Congresswoman Greene highlighted her disagreement with President Trump over the Epstein files. GREENE: “Standing up for American women who were raped at 14 years old, trafficked and used by rich, powerful men should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for.” She did not want to go through a bruising Republican primary in the spring. GREENE: “I do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President that we all fought for, only to fight and win my election, while Republicans will likely lose the midterms, and, in turn, be expected to defend the President against impeachment after he hatefully dumped tens of millions of dollars against me and tried to destroy me.” That's what led to her surprise resignation announcement. GREENE: “I'll be resigning from office, with my last day being January, 5, 2026.” Stray mutt gets award for comforting families after school shooting And finally, a stray mutt that turned into a service dog, soothing kids after a school shooting, has just been crowned the 2025 Hero Dog Award by the American Humane Society, reports GoodNewsNetwork.org. Sgt. Bo, the mixed breed from Nashville, Tennessee, may have started as a stray, but after being rescued off the streets of Florida in 2022, and trained for 12 weeks by prisoners in Brevard County, the four-year-old mutt became a certified therapy dog with the Nashville Police Department. Just three months into his service with Officer Faye Okert, tragedy struck when a transgender killed three students and three teachers at the city's Covenant School. Sgt. Bo was called to help comfort children and families at the reunification site—climbing onto buses, letting shaken students rest against him, and staying until the last family left. Since then, he has continued visiting schools across the community, helping kids open up, easing anxiety, and reminding everyone that healing can come from the most unexpected places. Eating crickets and meat grown in a lab with cancer-like cells - WHO APPROVED THAT?! Scott Tips, president of the National Health Federation (NHF) and internationally recognized health freedom attorney, joins host, Jamie Belz, to help us understand the deeper mechanisms of Codex Alimentarius, the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the global regulatory web that threatens access to nutrient-dense food, natural health remedies, and therapeutic supplements.   As the only health-freedom organization with official INGO (International Non-Governmental Organization) status at Codex, NHF is uniquely positioned to stand up for the public's right to safe, informed, and autonomous healthcare choices on the global stage.   Over the last 70 years, NHF has defended medical choice and challenged the federal government's overreach into nutrition, supplementation, and holistic healing.   Some quick topics/snippets from this episode: Codex creates international food law—affecting everything from vitamin dosage limits to whether or not your meat contains drug residues. Most people don't even know Codex exists. And yet, decisions made there determine what shows up in your grocery cart, your supplement bottle, and your child's plate. The U.S. can now force genetically modified foods into countries that don't want them — not through diplomacy, but through international tribunals using Codex standards as their weapon. Ractopamine is a drug with zero therapeutic value. It makes animals fatter, faster — but it's banned in the EU, China, and Russia. In the U.S., you're probably eating it. When you hear ‘scientific consensus,' be cautious. The phrase is used to bulldoze public concern. You can be banned for calling out corruption at Codex. At CODEX, NHF is the only one defending your right to natural health freedom. The EU, Russia, even Iran — they've stood up for consumer safety at Codex more than the U.S. delegates have. The scary thing isn't just what the FDA is doing. It's how many people still trust them, blindly — even when their actions have harmed more people than every U.S. war combined. We need advocacy from the ground up. Most parents feeding their kids toxic food don't even know it — because the truth has been buried. “Frankenmeat”, insect protein, and natural flavoring cover-ups, all of which bypass transparent labeling laws while being quietly introduced into the food supply. They're trying to outlaw homeopathy—while promoting lab-grown meat and insect protein as sustainable alternatives. We don't want to be right. We want to get it right.   “Unless we put medical freedom into the Constitution, the time will come when medicine will organize into an undercover dictatorship… To restrict the art of healing to one class of men and deny equal privileges to others will constitute the Bastille of medical science. All such laws are un-American and despotic.” - Dr. Benjamin Rush, Declaration of Independence signator and Surgeon General of the Continental Army   "If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as the souls of those who live under tyranny.” - Thomas Jefferson   TAKE ACTION:  Join the National Health Federation for only $45/year to support international advocacy at Codex and receive the quarterly NHF magazine. This low-cost membership helps fund independent watchdog efforts that no other organization is legally authorized to perform at the global level. JOIN HERE   Other mentions: Ep 034: Fight For Your Right To Health Freedom The HighWire report exposing Peter Marks and vaccine data suppression    Health freedom is necessary. As government and corporate interests grow more entangled, grassroots advocacy is no longer optional. It's essential. Join the NHF and become part of the movement to reclaim sovereignty over what we eat, how we heal, and what we're allowed to know.

Although the setup required to accomplish this feat is currently complicated, this finding could provide more understanding about how the brain perceives colour and could one day help boost the vision of people with colour blindness.Nature News: Brand-new colour created by tricking human eyes with laser08:30 US regulator greenlights pig-liver transplant trialThe US Food and Drug Administration has approved the first trial to test whether genetically modified pig livers can be used safely to treat people with organ failure. One of the challenges to producing larger pieces of lab-grown meat has been providing cells with sufficient oxygen and nutrients, something the team's new setup helps overcome. They used it to grow a chunk of chicken muscle about the size of a nugget, but multiple challenges remain before meat produced in this way could make it to market.Nature News: Winner, winner, lab-made dinner! Just in time for Thanksgiving, a potato researcher explains potato varieties, potato nutrition, and some tubular tuber facts. And, irregular, fatty marbling gives meat a unique texture. Recreating that in plant-based products isn't easy.A Horn Of Potato PlentyThe potato is a versatile vegetable—baked, roasted, fried, mashed—it can bring something to just about any menu. But, how exactly do these tasty tubers end up on our tables? We'll give you a crash course in potato science, including how potatoes are grown (hint: not from seeds!) and what scientists look for when they develop new potato varieties.SciFri producer Kathleen Davis talks with Dr. Rhett Spear, assistant professor in the Plant Sciences Department at the University of Idaho. Adding Marbling To Fake Meat For That Extra-Realistic BitePlant-based meat products have evolved over the past few decades. You can find them in many forms, like sausages, deli meats, and faux chicken nuggets. During the holiday season, no plant-based meat is more famous than the Tofurky Roast, a round imitation turkey.Despite improvements in flavor for plant-based meat products, there are still lots of challenges to getting fake meats to mimic their real counterparts. One tough one is textural: instilling a marbling effect. This is the effect of irregular fat deposits, which occur naturally in animal meat.Plant-based meat has a uniform texture by design. Because each product is processed to be a certain way, the randomness and irregularity of fat pockets is taken out of the equation. But some food scientists are working on adding more of this meaty texture to plant-based meat.Joining guest host Kathleen Davis to discuss the challenges and possibilities for the next stage of plant-based meat is Dr. David Julian McClements, distinguished professor in food science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.Transcripts for each segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com.
