Codd will interview local artists, community leaders, visitors, business owners, musicians, and special guests from time to time who bring an unique perspective on the town we know and love. This episode features Mr. Dillon Folk, Manager of City Market, Moab. Mr. Folk discusses the challenges facing the supermarket's staff as they try to provide a first-class store in a small town and county of about 10,000 people. How do they manage their stock in a store that sees its customer base fluctuate by the thousands given the weather and the season. Mr. Dillon discusses the strategies they utilize in ordering products and how they meet customer demands. Also appearing in the episode is Mr. Douglas Caylor, RN, Director, Moab Regional Recovery Center. Mr. Caylor discusses the creation of the new out-patient program for individuals seeking professional help dealing with substance use disorders. The interview focuses on the kinds of services the Recovery Center offers, extent of substance misuse issues in Moab and Grand County, and the importance of treating mental health and addiction here in our community.

    Endurance horse riding is one of the oldest sports in America and here in Moab we have biannual endurance races and rides. "The Moab Endurance Rides," take horse and rider (or runner/walker!) into deep canyons with dramatic sandstone walls towering overhead and across mesa tops with incredible views of the wind sculpted high desert landscape. The Moab Canyons ride/race is each fall, wending about in the Tombstone Rock area, northeast of Moab—the Canyon Rims ride centers on Hatch Mesa. Today's guest is the organizer/ride manager of these events, Mickey Smith. Mickey tells us about the origin of the sport and why it's a great sport to partake in if you love riding and love our desert landscape, as she does. And the best part about endurance rides? Bega's history in film and how she got to Moab and the upcoming Cinemoab film competition showcase this Friday evening at Star Hall - doors at 6:00 - show starts at 6:30 - The competition challenges participants to choose between two possible films and reimagine them in different genres - with competitors presenting a 7 and a half minute film. There are 16 participants and space is limited so come early!

    This Week in Moab: Unsung Non-Profit Organization gets its spotlight, SHARP survey to accompany 2024 school registration In 1967, the Canyonlands Natural History Association began operating out of the Rock House at Arches National Park, offering educational materials for park visitors. Nearly 60 years later, Sam Wainer, executive director describes the work of one of the oldest and yet most undersung non profits in Moab. in addition to the information they provide about our area, They give millions of dollars of support to a wide variety of scientific projects, including scholarships to high school students. Students and parents will be asked to opt in to this years' SHARP survey. The Utah Student Health and Risk Prevention (SHARP) survey is the most comprehensive source of information on the challenges and opportunities our youth face. As a result a number of important infrastructure and improvement projects have gone unfunded, and now the City Council is exploring increasing the city's property tax.
