Newport Patrolman Cody Foster and Communications Specialist Kiara Knight are here with Tucker Lee.  Tucker's son Wyatt is 6 years old and battling leukemia.  Cody and Kiara talk about how a Facebook post by Tucker asking for first responder badges sparked a conversation between the two at Newport PD and evolved into a statewide effort to organize a touch-a-truck event for (and in honor of) Wyatt.  Tucker talks about the struggles their family have faced, how Wyatt loves first responders, how this event is a secret to Wyatt, the love and support DHMC, CHaD, David's House, Willie Para Christmas Program, and the local community have given, how awe inspiring it is for his family to have all the support, and how without the generosity of the local community, he doesn't know how his family would make it.  The Touch A Truck event is Saturday April 12 from 2 - 4 PM behind Sugar River Bank, North Main Street in Newport, rain or shine.

Esperanza and Irwin first met in 2000, when Esperanza was operating her art gallery, Art Solar on North Main Street, East Hampton. Irwin became a client of the gallery (though it took him a year to buy his first painting!). More importantly, it opened up a dialogue between Esperanza and Irwin, conversations that transcended Art, including the type of subjects you hear today on the podcast. Damage in Louisiana resulted in 60-80 percent of the homes and businesses from Cameron to Grand Cheniere being severely damaged or destroyed. Over the weekend, a swastika was painted on an Oconee County welcome sign. Oconee County Schools will be holding three public hearings for a tax increase. Those hearings will be on July 1 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on July 8 at 6 p.m. All three meetings will be held at the Instructional Support Center at 71 North Main Street in Watkinsville. Kewanee Mayor Gary Moore joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023.
