Uranium American Resources CEO William Hunter joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the company has satisfied all preconditions of its share purchase agreement and successfully acquired 100% of the issued shares of JAG Minerals, marking a key step in its growth strategy. Hunter explained that the transaction structure was amended to provide additional financial flexibility, allowing the cash portion of the deal to be settled through a four-month note payable to JAG Minerals Pty Ltd shareholders. The notes total US$2.0 million and carry a 14% payment-in-kind (PIK) interest rate. This adjustment supports the company's ability to complete its previously announced financing while preserving near-term capital. With the acquisition now finalized, Uranium American Resources is positioned to accelerate development across a portfolio of 20 historic high-grade vanadium and uranium mine locations spanning Montrose County, Colorado, and San Juan County, Utah. These assets form the foundation of the company's near-term production strategy. Hunter highlighted that significant groundwork has already been completed, including a detailed desktop review of historical mining and geological records at the Stateline properties in Colorado. The company has also conducted a successful radiation survey at its Sky properties in Wyoming, identifying two additional prospective zones to the north and south of the existing project area. In parallel, the company has restructured the majority of its convertible loan note holders, strengthening its balance sheet and enabling it to move forward with project financing initiatives. This progress positions Uranium American Resources to begin advancing its assets more aggressively. Looking ahead, Hunter said the company has mapped out the next phase of development, which includes initiating geophysical surveys and permitting work at its State Line projects in the near term. These steps are expected to support a pathway toward near-term production and long-term value creation for shareholders. He also noted strong fundamentals in the uranium market, with spot prices hovering around US$85 per pound, providing favorable conditions for advancing development plans and capitalizing on growing global demand for nuclear energy. #proactiveinvestors #uraniumamericanresourcesinc #otc #tngl #mining #Uranium #NuclearEnergy #UraniumMining Mining #Energy #Vanadium #ResourceDevelopment #NuclearEnergy #Commodities #USMining #Exploration #Investing

Episode Summary: In this episode of "90 Miles from Needles: The Desert Protection Podcast," host Chris Clarke discusses the pressing environmental issues faced by the American Southwest with guest Zak Podmore. The discussion centers around the potential for San Juan County, Utah, to become a storage site for nuclear waste. The conversation explores the environmental and social justice implications of such initiatives, pointing out the burden placed on historically underserved communities that have already borne a disproportionate share of impacts from the nuclear industry. The episode also explores the possibilities for the future of the Colorado River and the diminishing Lake Powell. Zak Podmore provides insights into what lower reservoir levels mean for the region's ecosystems and water management strategies. Encouraging discussions about restoring Glen Canyon and possibly decommissioning Glen Canyon Dam, the conversation transcends mere environmental discourse, hinting at a broader narrative of resilience and adaptation. Key Takeaways: Nuclear Waste Storage Concerns: The proposal to store nuclear waste in Southeast Utah raises significant environmental and social justice issues. Glen Canyon Restoration: Lower water levels in Lake Powell reveal the adaptive potential of natural ecosystems, opening doors for restoration opportunities like decommissioning the Glen Canyon Dam. Climate Change Impacts: The episode reflects the looming threat of climate change-induced drought in the Colorado River Basin and its implications for water management in the Southwest. Community Resistance: Zak Podmore emphasizes the importance of community awareness and resistance against potentially harmful environmental policies. Historic Environmental Advocacy: Insights into past environmental battles, including the roles of figures like David Brower, remind listeners of the enduring fight for ecological preservation. Notable Quotes: "These meetings were held, the nonprofits involved said they were just listening sessions. They said, we're not trying to actually bring radioactive waste to your area. We're just here to listen and provide information." — Zak Podmore "I don't think that's a very valid argument. But even if you really believe that, they still leave out the impacts from all the rest of the nuclear fuel cycle." — Zak Podmore "The ecosystems are incredibly resilient and they're recovering faster than anyone expected." — Zak Podmore "It's a dire situation for 40 million people who get water from the Colorado River throughout the Southwest." — Zak Podmore "If you give Glen Canyon, this famous place that was lost to the Glen Canyon Dam in the 1960s, a chance to recover, it will come back." — Zak Podmore Resources: Zak Podmore's Website Zak’s Substack "Life After Deadpool: Lake Powell’s Last Days and the Rebirth of the Colorado River" Listen to the full episode to engage deeply with these issues and explore further enlightening insights from "90 Miles from Needles: The Desert Protection Podcast." Voter turnout was down in Indigenous communities in San Juan County this election

Voter turnout has fluctuated in Indigenous precincts in San Juan County over the past decade. That's largely due to the county's switch to mail-in ballots in 2014. Navajo Nation residents aren't served by the USPS, the mail carrier that delivers ballots. This switch to mail-in voting prompted the Navajo Nation to sue shortly after for what it claimed was voter suppression among Indigenous voters. The settlement agreement from the lawsuit has resulted in more polling stations on the Navajo Nation, plus Dine language service for voters who don't speak English. Despite these efforts, voter turnout among Indigenous residents was down in San Juan County this election. And we check in on how San Juan County employees are enjoying their 32-hour work weeks… Here's a hint: some of them got new hobbies. Needling Editor-in-Chief Lex Vaughn and Ticket Editor Chase Burns are here to break down the week. The BLM opened a public comment period today for a new plan proposed by the Lisbon Valley Copper Mine in San Juan County. The company hopes to start in-situ recovery, which requires approval from the EPA to inject acidic solution into the aquifer. This kind of mining permanently contaminates the aquifer, making the water non-potable indefinitely. We also hear from our partners at KHOL about changes to wolf hunting laws in Wyoming. We hear from KUNC about the best runoff storage in a decade, and from the Utah News Connection about Black voters in Utah. We finish off with a story from Aspen Public Radio about recent drowning deaths in Garfield County. - Show Notes - • BLM Public Comment Portal https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2027164/510 • Salt Lake Tribune: Residents of this southern Utah community fear copper mining proposal's effects on water https://www.sltrib.com/news/2024/02/04/residents-this-southern-utah/ • KZMU: Residents of Lisbon Valley speak out against copper mine https://soundcloud.com/user-452372146-352514478/thursday-february-24-2022?utm_source=www.kzmu.org&utm_campaign=wtshare&utm_medium=widget&utm_content=https%253A%252F%252Fsoundcloud.com%252Fuser-452372146-352514478%252Fthursday-february-24-2022

In this inaugural (and monthly)  Economic Recovery Corps (ERC) Fellow "Spin and Chat," Neil and Will sit down with Mick Thornton - a self described builder of things and current Fellow in San Juan County, Utah.  In a previous episode (episode 139) Nathan Ohle, President and CEO of the International Economic Development Council, explained the purpose of the ERC - as described on the website - "a new collaborative initiative designed to accelerate recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in distressed communities and regions throughout the U.S. by connecting organizations with the talent and capacity needed to advance new ways of doing economic development that promote economic resilience and transformative change."  It connects a Fellow to a Host community in order to build capacity and drive transformative change.  Mick Thorton is one of those Fellows!  Hear from Mick as he describes why he applied and all about his project in San Juan, UT - and how challenges there (and other regions) are much more similar to challenges in Appalachia than they are different.  You'll also hear about Mick's background, what he hopes to accomplish and maybe a little about the "adventure" he and his family have been on the two years prior to accepting the fellowship - in the end, it's about the people!  As a former Pastor and Radio Host, those learned skills for Mick have seamlessly been adapted to the ever expanding (and new) field of economic development - or as Mick describes, a field built on connections.  Take a listen to get a true understanding of why Mick does what he does - and how the region he works in is better for it.  You might even hear Neil and Will talk about the "greatest two minutes in sports" - or why Neil has turned his back on the unofficial drink of Kentucky.  Also, don't forget about the #AppBiz of the week: Horse Soldier!
